(Old) Face Off Against Moanday: A Start Of Hockey MMP

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled.Off to heave. I do so hope the Bottom White loader isn’t too hungover to work today. It’s currently 73 degrees Ferret Height(22.7 Centipedes) Spot is currently watching a spider crawl across the carpet.
Spot: “It is fuzzy and has legs. It is a squirrel!”

This time I did, but there was a lovely waterfall off the porch for a bit.

Mr T’s sons only sail for fun while Mr K’s younger son sails in a high school club and older son sails occasionally now.

The two of them have been running the club for 10 years or so but it’s hard to get members. Last year there were more than 10 active sailors and this year less than half of that.

The number of people sailing is dropping worldwide.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/51f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Today the sun is going to fucking enter your mouth and come exploding out of your fucking ass. Good luck.” Well, that will be interesting, will it not?

I was sent pics of the state of one of the tyres, the tyre gnomes could have picked one with a bit more tread on it!

Just in time for your visitors to be impressed by it, even if they won’t notice the efforts of the cleaners

I am also abstaining due to taking anti-biotics which are making me feel grim and grotty. Fortunately I finish them today, and normal service will be resumed on Saturday lest the bar at KK’s suffers a catastrophic loss from my abstention.

I’ve had dry eye problems, blepharitis and ulcerative keratitis for many years. My eye doc also recommends a warm cloth over the eyes for five minutes a day (or an eye-warming mask, or rice sock), plus using gel tears (I use Visua XL), as well as a night-time ointment (I use Xailin Night). I also clean my eyelids/lashes with warm water and cotton wool every day.

And so she continues church shopping?

No great excitement in my day. I had a nice day off, had some quality time with Muffin which was nice as she’s been out of the bookcase for longer periods recently. Made some campus food and went to the pub with my friends.

Today’s commute was not difficult, I remembered to drop a couple of birthday cards in the postbox on my way to the bus stop, and still made it in time for the bus, and the Nice Train to Big City Station. Arrived there just as the next train was due in, so the trip was a much better experience than usual.

Irk is irksome, I have to attend a dept meeting this afternoon which I really could do without but there is nobody else to take minutes for it so I’ll have to do it. Means I’ll miss half of the lunchtime union meeting too, as the timings overlap. On the plus side, I’ve got tomorrow off!

That’s the kind of school that I work for. And speaking of, good lord what a day yesterday!

Heh. I wrote all that two days ago and never made it back. It has been ridiculously busy. So far I’ve had 3 IEPs, one more today. Two of the three had no parents attend the meetings and that was ok with me. The one with a parent went fine. I asked the administrator who was in the last meeting how I did and she said I did fine, so that was good.

It’s also been two days since we got the new loveseat delivered. Since I’ve been so busy, the house is still complete chaos. I mean, literally, there is a short bookcase sitting in the space in front of the tv and it is in the path from the living room to the dining room. I am hopeful that it can find a real, new home today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 87 and cloudy with a chance of rain. We will be bears who brunch at Eggs Up and maybe have a ramble if the weather cooperates. Or not. Since we are RDOS we can be willy-nilly if we wish to be. Tomorrow and Sattidy look to be very rainy days so anything we do that involves outside needs doin’ today.

doggio glad there was no major flood in casa perro.

Sticky_Buns glad the IEPs have been goin’ so well. Is the upcomin’ one your last?

Now I need more caffeine and must purtify myself as well as don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Some time back (quite a few years, in fact) FCD’s grandmother was told that her cholesterol was too high. She was in her 90s. Seems to me at that age, one should be free to stop fretting about things that have a long-term effect. Sheesh! There comes a point where there is no long-term…

Same here. Should I be widowed, I expect to keep living alone, but there may come a point where I need Daughter and family with me (or me with them.) I know Val has a lot of friends fairly close by, but her family is in South Dakota and she’s in Arlington, VA. Dunno if this will get her thinking about moving. Aging ain’t for sissies…

Couldn’t prove that by my marina. Then again, Solomons and Annapolis are sailing towns. On the other hand, we were sailors till this boat - now we’re trawlers. Sailing has become too physically demanding, what with FCD’s spinal issues and my overall lack of strength. Such is life, I guess. BTW, have you seen any of the videos of hydrofoil sailing? Quite impressive.

My morning plan is a bit of grocery shopping. The new Aldi doesn’t open till 9, so I’ve got a bit over an hour to kill before leaving. FCD has already left for the boat - today he’ll be installing the generator tray and getting it all plumbed so the yard guys can then install the generator.

I’m hoping he remembers to have them remove the refrigerator compressor that’s been sitting on the floor of the forward cabin. It should have been discarded when they removed it from the engine room, but they didn’t know. It’s so old, the refrigerant it uses is no longer available (or legal) so it can be tossed. We’ll eventually get a new cold plate - maybe next year?

He’s supposed to get home in time to take me to fetch Roxy and Tobias after school. Then he’ll return home and come pick me up around 11 or so when SIL gets off work. The original plan was for the kids to spend the night with me and SIL would pick them up and take them to school, but that wasn’t a good plan. Their routine would be disrupted and they never go to sleep at the right time when they’re here. Plus I didn’t want the hassle of getting them ready in the morning. At their house, the routine shouldn’t be too very different.

Then on Sunday, he’ll bring them here early as he has to work early, and Daughter will get them on her way home. That will minimize inconvenience to me. I’m glad to help out when I can, but there are limits.

Rain promised today, with chances to various degrees thru Tuesday. So much for yard work, I guess. I’m sure I can find things to occupy me indoors - surely something will need to be dusted… :open_mouth: Or something.

For now, tho, I’ve still got a bit of internettin’ to do before really beginning my day. Happy Thursday!!

The number of young sailors is dropping worldwide. This was told to me by the president of a international sailing association and it’s also reflected in Japan university participates as well.

It hasn’t died completely, but it’s not growing, either.

Yeah, it incredible. Last year in the World Championship in Italy, I met a guy from Hawaii and his son is getting into foil dinghy. Incredible.

Our school is really small and they don’t have enough kids interested in soccer, so futsal is perfect for them. SenBoy’s classmate’s father played soccer growing up and is really into helping them. The classmate is a girl who is decidedly not interested in sports, nor is her younger sister so the father is really excited about helping the boys. He’s really going out of his way to do everything for them, which is really nice of them.

And a good Thorsday to all y’all. Some more rain early this am, but looks like it is going away and we’ll start to dry out. May not make it to 80F so I guess Fall is finally arriving, but still will be mowing my lawn in November based on last year. Garbage is at the curb and dishwasher tetris has been played and the machine is sloshing along. Outside of coaching the 7-year olds (weather and the Parks Department willing), not much on the agenda.

I find that faintly…disturbing…

Sticky Buns, good wishes on playing furniture tetris today. Glad the school stuff is going fine.

FCM, you remind me I have to make up my list today for the Great October Shopping trip on Firday.

Sensei, glad the classmate’s father is helping like that, I’ve coached soccer for over 40 years (on and off) and never had a kid. Nce to know other folks look out for young folks and keep them active.

And fast is broken and dishes washing, so sloth will occupy the balance of the morning. Have a good one all.

Happy Thursday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I need to do a couple of loads of laundry today, but otherwise, pretty much RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I just want to pet Goliath.

I haven’t started irking yet. I’ll clock in at 07:00 today, because there’s a meeting about SharePoint at three.

Welp, at the airport after a bit of a white-knuckle ride. But we got here in plenty of time, made through security, and my son has gone to fetch us some coffee.

UPS came through without drama: item #2 was delivered shortly after 5pm. Yay! Now I await confirmation from the store that item #1 has been returned/received and sent out again; I’m hoping to get that notification tomorrow or Monday. Later today I’ll reschedule Tuesday morning’s dentist appointment just in case, so I can be home whatever day is needed next week (:crossed_fingers:). At least I was able to plan to be in the office all day today, and I can plan to be here all day tomorrow (normally I’d work from home on a Friday regardless, but there’s an in-person interview tomorrow afternoon).

Speaking of planning to be in the office, my boss rescheduled our weekly 1:1 to early (for me) this morning so I got in around 7:30 – an hour before I usually do – and I’m amazed at how “off” a simple 1-hour difference has made me feel all morning! I keep thinking it’s, like, 2 hours later than it is. I’ve been ready for lunch since 10am. Heh. I can certainly do mornings when needed, but I’m definitely a night owl at heart.

It’s really sad that so many of us are having FedEx issues.

(And yeah, FCM, my items were each over $1K…I’d really like to have both of them. Sigh.)

I already knew she’s a cutie from your other pics, but man…that is one good-looking pup.

This is exactly why I have an Amazon Alexa device and pay $60/year for their Emergency Assist service.

(But I’d drive to urgent care and not my doc!!)

Oh, they won’t notice the landscaping, either. But I’ll know that both the outside and inside of the house are visitor-ready*!

*Well, mostly: I still need to get the siding power-washed, but that ain’t happening before Sunday.

Have a great/safe trip!!

They delivered something else later, to the front door. It was a large envelope containing a long-sleeve T-shirt like Wifey, RN wears under her scrub top.

Usually those heavy Chewy boxes are brought to the door. Just not this time.

Another ‘bluebird’ day.

Heading for the ENT in an hour. I said HEADING FOR THE ENT IN AN HOUR!

Fried eggs and biscuits for breakfast. We’ll try to finally kill off that lasagna later. I swear it gets larger every time I look.

All puzzles puzzed, although the Thursday NYT was more difficult than usual and required a bit of help from the intertoobs.

Our niece may drop by later to bring some produce from her garden.

I learned something really odd and illogical about FedEx a couple years ago. Namely: a shipment gets a single tracking number even if it consists of multiple boxes.

But the whole rest of their system assumes that 1 tracking number = 1 box. So once you receive the first box, your shipment shows as “delivered” and the other box(es) are effectively lost to the tracking system. They’re not necessarily lost to FedEx’s internal package moving systems but as far as you or a customer service worker can tell, those other box(es) never existed and still don’t exist.

Then magically they appear at your doorstep some day(s) later. Or don’t.

Utterly wacky IT design.

Send her home with lasagna!!!

So we might see it after all? Hope so, because getting thru to the vendor is proving to be impossible. FCD has called numerous times last night and today, he’s never reached a person, and he’s never had a callback. But he’s often got “The voicemail is full” - he’s sent emails and so far, nothing. Such a fiasco!!

Oh, yeah, back from erranding. I’m going to make some ravioli to feed the kids tonight, and by make, I mean boil some frozen raviolis and dump sketty sauce over them. I’ll also take some grapes - Tobias lurves 'em and sometimes, that’s all he wants for supper. Other than that, no real plans for the afternoon.

I’m not sure what I described would help anyone’s eyebrows, but I’m glad I could educate you a little, nonetheless!

I had no idea the condition had a name, but of course it does. And interesting it is related to allergies. I’ve suffered from them all my life. All I know is, the rice sock trick worked well and I stopped waking up in the mornings with eyes that didn’t want to open easily. I can see how the warm washcloth would also work. Thanks!

I’m going to add your regimen of warm water with cotton each day. Smart – as I would expect.

Yesterday was momentous. I’ve been constrained by rural living to slow internet for 21 years. I finally got a gigabit fiber optic line. There’s a whole new world for me to catch up with: Adding a smart phone to my life, VoIP phones, video streaming instead of expensive satellite television. So much to learn, but it’s all very exciting. Tips, tricks and general educational comments all welcome!

COVID shot today. That’s going to put a little damper on my celebrations. I’m meeting a friend for lunch after the shot, since side effects take about 12 hours to kick in. It’s going to be a quiet weekend, though.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

I was loading 200 Top Yellow today, so I had a lighter load today. Of course doing the damages and reboxing, I had to rebox a 135lbs. battery cable some fool shipped in a used box. I did my Senior Day shopping, got coffee, beer, and some minor food items.

Any biting?

Well, the human anus can produce all states of matter…

Hope the flight is less dramatic.

What?

And I thought some of systems were bass-akwards(certain programs only work with only one type of scanner, not the others.)

And also useful if you have to deal with snitches.

Well, while the dishwasher was running, I decided to spend some extra budget (I have more in my checking this month than I planned on for October) and bought two pairs of
casual shoes for around the house and 6 short sleeve shirts (Size Large, first time in decades I can say that with putting an Extra or 2Extra in front of it). Dishes are now washed and new stuff put away, so may get to the gym for couple of hours…the rain is gone and it is clear outside, but they may close the soccer fields today to let them dry out some more…won’t know until 4pm.

I understood that reference.

Taters, safe flight (or should I say, hope the pilot has a safe flight..)

Oopsie, glad you got 50% satisfaction, hope the other item makes it next week.

I really do need to look into things like that.

Both of my drives were straight to the emergency room…fortunately the nearest one is only 2.5 miles away.

FCM, sounds like that vendor needs to work on their customer service, it appears they have customer dis-service down pat.

Bright Tree, I think I meant eyelash, but am easily distrac…Squirrel!! And glad to hear about the new and improved internet. Hope the shot doesn’t cause more that a slightly sore shoulder.

And getting toward 1pm so if I’m going to get my exercise in and still be ready for soccer practice (if it happens) i need to pack up and head out. Take care all.

Watched videos for 2 hours. Got a free meal. More tomorrow! Kindof cool out. I need a sweater.
