Some time back (quite a few years, in fact) FCD’s grandmother was told that her cholesterol was too high. She was in her 90s. Seems to me at that age, one should be free to stop fretting about things that have a long-term effect. Sheesh! There comes a point where there is no long-term…
Same here. Should I be widowed, I expect to keep living alone, but there may come a point where I need Daughter and family with me (or me with them.) I know Val has a lot of friends fairly close by, but her family is in South Dakota and she’s in Arlington, VA. Dunno if this will get her thinking about moving. Aging ain’t for sissies…
Couldn’t prove that by my marina. Then again, Solomons and Annapolis are sailing towns. On the other hand, we were sailors till this boat - now we’re trawlers. Sailing has become too physically demanding, what with FCD’s spinal issues and my overall lack of strength. Such is life, I guess. BTW, have you seen any of the videos of hydrofoil sailing? Quite impressive.
My morning plan is a bit of grocery shopping. The new Aldi doesn’t open till 9, so I’ve got a bit over an hour to kill before leaving. FCD has already left for the boat - today he’ll be installing the generator tray and getting it all plumbed so the yard guys can then install the generator.
I’m hoping he remembers to have them remove the refrigerator compressor that’s been sitting on the floor of the forward cabin. It should have been discarded when they removed it from the engine room, but they didn’t know. It’s so old, the refrigerant it uses is no longer available (or legal) so it can be tossed. We’ll eventually get a new cold plate - maybe next year?
He’s supposed to get home in time to take me to fetch Roxy and Tobias after school. Then he’ll return home and come pick me up around 11 or so when SIL gets off work. The original plan was for the kids to spend the night with me and SIL would pick them up and take them to school, but that wasn’t a good plan. Their routine would be disrupted and they never go to sleep at the right time when they’re here. Plus I didn’t want the hassle of getting them ready in the morning. At their house, the routine shouldn’t be too very different.
Then on Sunday, he’ll bring them here early as he has to work early, and Daughter will get them on her way home. That will minimize inconvenience to me. I’m glad to help out when I can, but there are limits.
Rain promised today, with chances to various degrees thru Tuesday. So much for yard work, I guess. I’m sure I can find things to occupy me indoors - surely something will need to be dusted…
Or something.
For now, tho, I’ve still got a bit of internettin’ to do before really beginning my day. Happy Thursday!!
