(Old) Face Off Against Moanday: A Start Of Hockey MMP

I had this same experience. My eye doc suggested the following: Fill an old gym sock with rice, heat gently in the microwave, verify that it’s not too hot, put the heated rice sock over your eyes for about 10 minutes twice a day. Then use artificial tears (I use Systane) a few times each day.

There are “wax” (for lack of a better term) ducts in your lashes, and they can become clogged and create the condition you describe. For awhile, your vision will be really blurry right after you remove the rice sock, because the wax has “melted”. It will clear after a few sessions. This all proved to be true for me. I still do this a few times a week to keep things flowing properly. It’s kind of zen.

Worth a try, anyway. Hope it’s a helpful suggestion!

The a/c and the cat litter are put away. After I did that, I decided to make some chile colorado. It’s simmering now, and should be ready to eat around 16:00 or so.

I have had that happen to me a lot growing up. I had bad hay fever around late summer/fall and my eyes would water a lot and itch. I woke up many times like that. Not sure if it’s an allergy to something in your case.

T

Afternoon all. The rain has mainly remained on the Ali-bama plain for most of the day, some small breaks and then it starts up again. Did manage to make it to the Mart of Wal and the gym without drowning, may have to go out again this evening but not until after 6pm (there should be a break in the rain around then). Soccer has been cancelled of course, and tomorrow isn’t looking to promising either. At least things are staying cool, it’s at 72F now and I’ve gone the whole day without turning on the AC, so we’ll see if I can make it the whole day without using it.

Taters, yeah, 9 hours driving per day is about the safe limit (at least for me) and doing it for 3 days straight…well, don’t plan any major activities for the day after you arrive…safe travels tomorrow.

Sensei, hope you and SenBoy continue to feel better.

Cookie, looking forward to your ENT report, mine was over a year ago and I never have regretted it or the hearing aids i got.

Oopsie, I’ll probably have my yard done in a couple years when I’m 75-76 and looking to move. Hope your items make it as planned (and I see that at least one won’t :worried:

JtC, we await your yammering with great anticipation.

FCM, most of the stuff I get is via Amazon and they tend to use their services to get it close and then give it to the Post Office for delivery, and so far, so good..

bright tree, thanks for the eyebrow education, the things I learn here…

And have finished a mid-day meal, so ready for the evening and whatever it brings. Take care all.

True this.

The ones with that much dimension get a mailer with cushioning, but most will go in a standard envelope.

Grocery shopping / girls’ day is done. We decided to have lunch from Jose’s hot dogs outside of the store. Not a bad dog. Now, just playing around in the studio.

We got a little rain and we might get a little more overnight. That will make digging up more iris a lot easier. So we’ll see how that goes.

Otherwise, it’s a nothing evening of chill. Which is nice.

Ms Peach is playing with lumber scraps now. Taking after me, I suppose. She did great in the shop a couple weeks ago, until I turned on the (entirely too large) dust collector, which is too loud. Nope that’s not poop behind her, it’s a black walnut cronched by a squirrel.

Did not manage to get anything done that I wanted to at work today, too many other fires to put out, plus meetings. But I think I might be actually able to do some stuff tomorrow.

I’m hoping that it’s wax plugs. From what I’ve read on line about the symptoms I’m having, they seem to point towards that.

Scary message from an old friend - a few months younger than I but I’ve known her more than 50 years. She had a mild stroke earlier this week and spent 2 days in the hospital. She lives alone and drove to her Dr who sent her to the ER.

Scary…

Howdy Y’all! We’re home from the doin’s. Well, been home for a bit. OYKW decided to sleep with Ben again tonight so he is already abed. We had tacos and fixin’s and a cinnamony cake with a cinnamon and whipped cream toppin’. Very nummy. Priest got me to talk to our group about the conference I attended earlier this month. He would like for more folks to take on lay worship leader roles as would I. We got some inquiries so who knows. Now I will go see whatup on teh intartoobz.

MOOOOOOM we don’t cover the cee-mint pond over Winter. We winterize the filter and let it run for a couple of hours in the early mornin’. That is really not necessary, but I feel better about lettin’ it circulate for a bit. We are considerin’ lettin’ a pool company take on the maintenance cause we be old. Oh, and it’s all I can do not to climb up on my soapbox about this rapture nonsense. Seems like this stoopidity crops up about every five years. Sometimes I find it hard to open my eyes first thing. Been goin’ on for several years and I haven’t been worried about it. I happens about once a month it seems.

Taters have a safe trip. I know it will be a great one. Don’t worry about postin’ here. You have a lot of quality grandma time to catch up on!

Sensei hope senson and you feel better soonest.

Adorable! Those ears!

Up from naptime, watching hockey and having a martini. Tonight it’s tortellini with meatballs(both from Aldi) with homemade sauce.

and my eyes are non gritty

:frowning:

And also with you.

35 is light considering what we deal with.

You adopted a termite?

SenWife is back from her business trip. Unfortunately, she gets tired and stressed on her trips and things that aren’t right jump out when she comes back. Managing a family as a part time single dad isn’t easy and I just don’t have the time or energy to make everything perfect.

The antibiotics are kicking in and SenBoy is back to his normal adolescent energy. He loves futsal, the 5-person indoor soccer team as well as his sailing. It looks like his interest in the violin is waning.

There are two main coaches at the sailing club. They were in the sailing club in college together and are now in their early 50s. Both of them have children that sail. Mr. K is more of the leader and does a lot of the coaching. Mr. T also coaches and is the one to run the various races. He was the one in charge of the world championship this summer that SenBoy participated and I helped on the Race Committee.

Last weekend, Mr. T’s daughter caught pneumonia and was hospitalized. He was supposed to have run the race, but had to drop out and Mr. K took over. Mr. K normally doesn’t run the races, but he did OK, with only a few hiccups. Despite being involved in sailing as a competitor or a coach for 35 years, there are just a lot of details that need to be remembered. We need Mr. K to be coaching and manning the rescue boat, so Mr. T told me that I need to be prepared to run races next year rather than just help out.

The curse of being mildly competent, I guess. But, since SenBoy will be sailing through high school, there will be the need for this so I might as well do it if it means that it gets done.

It’s been a cheesy day. I had a sausage-and-over-easy-egg-and-medium-cheddar burrito for breakfast, a sharp cheddar sandwich with Colman’s and mayo for lunch, and some chile colorado with sour cream and medium cheddar for dinner.

In other news, SWMBO said we are officially not going to the church we’ve been going to. She’s been going to a senior center on Wednesdays, but felt like she was being blown off. She didn’t call the elder today, and the elder didn’t call her. We’ve been invited to a Lutheran church this Sunday.

And, she texted one of the immigrants’ rights protesters to dinner Saturday. I need to be told what to make (if it happens).

So one of the water heaters on the 3rd floor broke, and it’s waterfalling off the 3rd floor. So a Flood Warning is on effect for Casa Perro.

We had a short one this afternoon and another just now.

Ms. Peach is an absolute cutie, VanGo!

Do you have the same building maintenance as shoe’s irkplace?

that was the 2016 flood. as opposed to the 2019 flood, or the 2 2020 floods.

Time for the late-night final. Decided to go back to the gym to do the sweating I would normally have done coaching soccer, less than a hour and back home. Gnawing on carrots because one thing about burning so many calories is that I don’t feel too guilty eating more, long as the calorie balance stays in my favor. Doubt that I eat all that healthy, but WTH, I’m old enough to enjoy what I like (within reason). At least that’s my rationale and I’m sticking to it…

Van Go, thanks for the pic of Ms. Peach, great looking dog.

Cookie, I hope you are right and it can be cleared up with a good cleaning-out.

FCM, hope friend is doing ok, I worry sometimes what I will do in such a situation, had to drive myself to the Emergency room for my hernia and, much earlier, for a scratched cornea, so I can sympathize.

Sensei, we have a Futsal league (just recreational) during the winter months here to keep the kids interested. And sounds like you are getting more involved in the sailing operations wether you want to or not…the curse of the competent…

Flyboy, will be interested on how SWMBO will feel about the Lutherans, there are several major groups (or synods) ranging from middle-of-the-road to ultra-conservative in their beliefs.

doggio, time to break out the life preservers?

And that’s all for this day. Take care all.

I just soak a thick washcloth with sufficiently warm water and lay with it on my eyes. The heated rice sock sounds less messy. I also use eye wipes from the pharmacy, as a quick solution if I don’t have time to lay down with a cloth on my eyes. For me, the main thing is that I use facial soap which can be used near the eyes and that keeps the gook from building up in the first place. I got diagnosed with blepharitis in my 20s, and it’s worse when during spring pollen season. My mom has it as well.

She is a cutie. Love the lopsided ears and white tip on her tail.

Congratulations? Does Mr. K also have a child who’s currently racing, or does he just do it because it likes it?

Perfection is overrated. Of course, that’s easy for me to say from my sofa on the other side of the world.

It seems that that is not the first time. Hope Casa Perro is able to avoid major damage. Or any damage, for that matter.

Happy how my berry müesli turned out, but I didn’t need to add honey, as the yogurt I used had sugar added. I normally buy unsweetened yogurt, but bought something else for convenience.

It’s currently 10°C/50°F, with an expected high of 14°C/57°F, with very little sunshine expected. At least there’s also very little (almost none) rain predicted, which is good.

Started reading Wil Wheaton’s, Still Just a Geek. I’m not sure I would have enjoyed the original book, but reading the annotated version is interesting. Now if I could just figure out how to have the footnotes as inline commentary, I would be quite happy. I’m not really fond of the pop-up bubbles, even though it sort of reminds me of the VH1 pop-up videos, which sort of fits with the vibe.
