(Old) Falling Into The MMP

Well, mine can, and it’s no hotshot phone. An Android Galaxy 16, I think. It was the only way I was permitted to pay for the airline ticket with a card. After receiving an authorization code on the phone, I was instructed to press the card against the back of the phone where all the camera stuff lives and hold the magnetic strip facing those. The phone then read the card in about 2 seconds. (!!!) Creepy!

Hateful tiny allen screws!

FCM, JtC, Nellie, Coppertone, Metal Mouse and others with medical stuff, I think about you frequently. Flyboy, I hope tomorrow is better.

I got a perfect little lightweight, water-resistant toiletry bag to hold most of my dental aligner accoutrements:

It won’t hold everything (such as my travel water flosser), but will be easy to use in a disgusting restroom after a meal.

Perfectly said!!

And I love your toiletry bag! Off to search for one!

On sale at the moment.

Thanks!

A short nap. I’m up and having a Monte Casino. Dinner tonight is Smoked Paprika Chicken with cheesy potato rounds and peas and mushrooms. Spot is sacked out somewhere.

YES! But I also like some of the other generations slang, because it’s the bee’s knees, Daddy-O.

“This is damaged”: Brown speak for “I can’t even with this thing, so I’m giving it to dogbutler.” But it almost pays for Spot’s gin.

I have to. I couldn’t cut the mustard as a spice salesman.

“There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.” - Will Rogers

As the tail end of the boomers, my slang is more GenX.

I got my little burst of normalness for a couple of hours. While picking out some colors for the next set of cards, I managed to knock a whole stack of small paper pads off, so I played pick up paper, then managed to pick up a few other things (thank goodness for grabbers) that had fallen to the floor too. I did manage to cut out the parts, with assembly tomorrow.

Last night, I had a little tequila. (Also, wine.) Tonight I had two Rob Roys with dinner, and am having a glass of wine now.

Thanks, Jane! Belated or not, it’s always nice to get such greetings!

I’ll catch up with y’all later.

Work? I walked in, from a warm, humid outside … to a very large (and noisy!) box fan plunked in front of a large wheelie cooler full of ice.

Before I could even “derfuq?” I was informed THE ENTIRE AC WAS DEAD. Oh, and the freezer was, and I quote, “struggling to keep up.” No kidding, my (shhh!) hidden popsicle stash was half melted.

Holy banana peppers, it’s noisy under good circumstances in there. Now we had an industrial fan and a cooler of rapidly-melting ice all underfoot.

Like I wasn’t having a :angry_face_with_horns: day already.

I’m home, my cat is politely greeting me loudly informing me that I need to buy more kibbles and/or feed him NOWWWW and someone needs a cool friggin’ shower.

I think that’s an accurate description.

Oooooh! :blue_heart: I love fancy colors. Makeup, hair-did, nail polish.

But especially fun hair - it was so unallowed for so long, and now I see ALL THE LADIES wearing such nifty colors.

:purple_heart:

I can curse in four languages, including Polish, and my current hobby is learning naughty signs in ASL.

My boss’s boss might wanna have a beer with you.

I want to say “I have questions” but .. maybe nope.

Throw in a jug of tequila, a clean(ish?) trash can, several dozen college students, and you got yerself a :musical_note: partttttaaaaaayyyyyyyy! :musical_notes:

We’ll stash the road salt for the next winter party.

Y’all are my kind of people.

Jeebus, I have a grumpy “hmmmmmmmmmpppppffffftttthhhh” on your behalf!

While I hate that I understand this, I hate more that I work with people who would :red_question_mark: until their head exploded.

Note to self: things I must say at work tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 78 degrees Ferret Height(25.556 Centipedes). it’s supposed to hit 100F again today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and partly to mostly cloudy. Rain will allegedly be here around sixish p.m. and also allegedly will be with us over the next several days. We shall see. I shall take care of candle and other duties over to the church house this mornin’ and then we will be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. We may also decide to take a little ramble. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS sloth, as is our wont.

red glad the med finally got approved. Hope it helps.

JtC hope today is a better day. Glad you are happy with the level of health care you get in WV.

Cat_Glove EEK! Glad your power came back on. Hope daughter’s is by now.

BrightTree how true. Why is it that “simple” fixes are most always the worst ones! I knew phones can read credit cards. Still don’t like to do it. It is creepy!

shoe double ICK! An industrial kitchen is hot enough even with a/c. I cannot even begin to imagine how miserable that was!

Yet another reason I love the MMP!

Exactly! I’ve had experiences in the past where a different doc tried to throw meds at me without getting to the root cause. I know there are people who think they always needs another pill, but I’m not one of them. The only “problem” is that I’d filled my pill caddy with half pills, so for the next week, I’ll double up on the split ones, then back to the whole ones. All my problems should be like that.

Plus the job will never be humdrum and/or boring…

We’re promised low 90s today, then a stretch of low 80s starting tomorrow. Large t-boomer storm last night woke me up, but thanks to my good buddy Mel, I fell back to sleep pretty quick and mostly slept thru the rest of the night. I’ve found that 2 anna half mg works for me with no hangover. So those pills get split, and I don’t even bother with the 10mg we have (had) tucked away somewhere.

Today is laundry day, and I do need to run to Charlotte Hall to hit all the grocery stores in a group. Beyond that, nothing on the agenda… yet. The Next Door site found me a place to rent a log splitter, so we’ll arrange for that.

There are 2 hardwood trees cut into log-length sections that need splitting, and FCD is waaaaay past his log-splitting prime. We need to arrange a day when Daughter and SIL can help move the chunks from the woods to wherever we decide to split them, and then to wherever we decide to store them. I don’t think our current wood rack will accommodate it all. Maybe we can sell some to cover the cost of the splitter rental.

I heard from BIL - here’s an excerpt from his email, if anyone cares.

Surgery went very well. Got almost all of the cancer, so radiation
should clean it up.

I might get home on Monday or Tuesday. To be decided by
my heart rate; which is low.

The trach has been replaced. My new tube is washable and reusable. so no more suctioning;

Now working with physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Got a talker. Tube goes in your mouth and you can say some basic words. Sounds awful, but better than having to write everything. My built-in
talker won’t be able to work until the healing is done - two to three
weeks. Time will tell…

I remember one of my uncle’s friends had a hand-held voice synthesizer - we’re talking 60-ish years ago. It sounded like a bad “computer” voice from old sci-fi. I’ll be curious to hear what the built-in talker sounds like.

Guess that’s more than enough for now. Happy Firday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Sometimes, just when you think the fucking sun is going to come out, life fucking gives you an anal probe.”

Cat Glove I’m sorry about the AC woes, it’s also very sad that everything has gone up in price due to the current incumbent.

Taters It’s been raining since I woke up this morning and only stopped briefly when I got to the office so it’s going to be a very damp and miserable-looking day here.

Moooom sorry to hear that the meds situation hasn’t changed :frowning:

I might just rent myself a caravan and live in it until the house is semi-habitable!

doggio did Spot finally recover from his sugar coma?

Yesterday was uneventful, apart from prompting New Manager to get some mailboxes set up for us. Those are now active so I can use the shiny new year 1 address for our incoming students. I need to get emails out to them shortly so they can choose their optional modules and we can get their registrations sorted out.

I got home easily enough, faffed about doing stuff, had some sofa time and waited for 'im indoors to provide me with dinner. I was in bed at a reasonable time, and up far too early this morning for a trip to campus that could have required a canoe instead of a train.

It’s been a busy but productive morning though, I finally got marks from Politics so my year abroad student can start packing and leave the country. Sorted out some other issues, help some colleagues with stuff on our new system, and fixed a few other little problems. Nearly lunchtime now, I’m starting to feel a bit hollow!

73F at 0730 this morning. High humidity has caused us to have a rather moody sky scene out our living room window. Gonna be a hot one today.

Apropos of nothing … my grandmother was born in Canada. I just looked it up and according to Canadian law (recently changed) I am therefore considered a Canadian citizen since birth. I don’t need to apply for anything - I already have it. I do have to prove it but that wouldn’t be hard. This brings up myriad possibilities considering the current political climate in my current country.

I usually wear a polo shirt with whatever shorts or pants are next on the closet rod. Today, I’m wearing a Duluth Trading Company shirt with a bunch of features I don’t really need. It’s made of sweat-wicking stuff, and it has a panel in the back to allow for freedom of motion. There’s a pair of big pockets, and the left pocket has a little gap in the flap seam to allow for parking a pen. That’s the one I use to harbor a temple of my reading glasses.

FCM’s BIL story kinda reminds me of certain Peter Frampton guitar solos. He used a somewhat similar device that fed his guitar into a speaker with a tube on his mic stand so he could “sing” with his guitar’s voice.

That’s all for now. Fare thee well.

great pic, chefguy!

fcm, it sounds like the surgery was a success. i hope things go well.

purplehorse shoe, i just use random norse/germanic/finnish words. slavic words also work well. anything with guttural and throat clearing sounds. the asl class at my condo did have “bad word” day. when you interpret you interpret not edit.

mollie, how did the mrs hair day go?

the last few nights we had strong storms go by. right now the humidity is higher than the temperature. le sigh.
