Sorry you had that experience. Sadly it is not at all uncommon. Glad you voted with your feet (and reimbursements).
What a day. The phones were ringing non-stop. The first couple of calls I took, were not things that were functional yet. A guy bought a money order. The receipt box didn’t come up so he could sign for it. He signed the paper receipt I printed. No idea how to scan signatures (and transaction receipts, and deposit slips) into the receipts. I and a cow-orker each have a stack. No time to balance the general ledgers for prepaid credit card reloads and cash advances. Even if I did, I couldn’t get logged into the system. Things smoothed out a bit, but there are still things that need to be addressed. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Oh, there was an elderly member who came through drive-up. She was angry that her receipt didn’t have her balance on it. And she said (called after she left) I’d forgotten to give her her money. SHe did find her money, and my drawer did balance. The receipt? First day with the new system. Waddya want? Anyway, I’m going to remember her.
Ms Peach seems to have recovered from her reaction to the shot yesterday. The Lepto 4-way made hew left hip swell up and caused a limp, apparently that’s a thing with pit mixes. But she’s doing fine today, just a little blah, which is to be expected considering the ongoing rain.
Amongst all the other things I’ve got going on at the museum, I have decided that the first hole of the mini golf is stupid. It was a sort of chain reaction thing, three balls touching, bolted down. You put your ball at the front and whack the hell out of the first one. Immobile Newton’s cradle…dumb. Remaking it as a real cradle, just need another day or so and I’ll have something workable on the floor.
Oooh, hey, there’s my stuff!
This is why I love the MMP.
This made me giggle.
Thank you to many of you for the gentle thoughts, a couple of y’all contacted me directly, it’s a personally rough coupla days for me, and I received kind texts that made me feel loved. It’s the anniversary of my husband’s death.
I treated myself to a fancy preroll after work, as a consolation prize for surviving without openly crying, and will hopefully soon be hungry enough for a solid meal.
It’s been hyoooomid and way too hot for this time of year, so I can barely eat as it is.
Work was relatively smooth tonight, though, despite two, no three, crew leaving early, so it was just Alternate Manager and me at the end.
Which was fine, we still left around 15 min after close. (That is fantastic for those playing along. Leaving an hour after close is semi-common.)
Oh, and she brought a loaf of her homemade pumpkin bread with cranberries, and despite my initial skepticism (I am NOT Team Cranberry) I snarfed down a whole slice, so I feel very healthy - vittttammmins!
Off to try to sleep.
ETA I HAVE THE HICCUPS DAMMIT!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Of to heave. It’s currently 75 degrees Ferret Height(23.889 Centipedes), anf there’s a Heat Advisory again today.
BTDT.
Yay for better Ms. Peach.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and cafffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 93 and sunny, but becomin’ cloudy late afternoon. I went to one here and I was not impressed. I was having shoulder issues and she suggested exercises, tho she didn’t tell me how many or how often (I didn’t realize that till I got home.) I called her office and they gave me a number, so I made a chart and did them religiously. When I went back for a followup, she pretty much mocked me for what I did. That was the last time I bothered with her.
Then she did FCD’s second knee replacement because the guy who did his first one had a heart attack or something. (Same practice.) He wasn’t impressed with her either. Fortunately, neither of us has needed orthopedic care since.

Today is neurologist follow-up day, to find out what the EEG showed. I’m not particularly impressed with this doc, but it’s been 2 years and I’ve seen her a handful of times - it doesn’t make sense to switch, yet. Plus there aren’t a lot of neurologists in this county.
I know doctors are busy and I don’t expect smiles and idle chat, but it would be nice to feel like at a minimum, she familiarizes herself with my file before seeing me. Last time, she obviously misread the date of my seizure and thought it had been a few month prior instead of a year and a few months prior. And she makes me feel like I’m an inconvenience. Anyway, we’ll see if I can start to taper off the meds.
When I’m done with there, since I’ll be in the commercial section of the county, I’m going to stop in Kohl’s and have a look at tops. I don’t really need any - I could wear my polos more often, but I like t-shirts. So we’ll see if anything strikes my fancy. I’ll also pass Penney’s on the way home, so I may stop there.
I need to move the cut up branches that the guys left yesterday. They made piles of firewood that needs to go on the pile under the porch. I also want to walk into the woods and see what they did with the tree way back there.
We were surprised with how different the light was where the trees came down. They were 2 very tall pines, one dead and one that we wanted to be rid of. It really opened up that small area.
If we call them again, we’ll get a 20% discount. I can’t imagine what else we’ll need done in the near future, but I’ll hold on to the receipt just in case.
Breakfast was a somewhat successful experiment. I made some maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal, then dumped a container of blueberry yogurt into it. Not bad. Certainly filling.
And so my day begins after a not-so-great night. I need to sleep with Mel tonight.
Happy Thursday!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/64f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s mild and fucking overcast outside. Maybe you should stay inside and pay your fucking bills.”
Cookie perhaps the downsizing seminar will help the Mrs realise that she can let go of stuff and not feel bad about it?
{{{{{BBBoo}}}}}
Mooooom sounds like it was a good call on the tree guys!
swampy I have cow-irkers who would willingly be considered Episcopalians based on that joke! I foresee much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the coming months.
flyboy I’m sorry that the first day of the new system was so trying. Let’s hope it gets better soon.
VanGo yay for Ms Peach feeling better!

Yesterday wasn’t a bad day after all. 'im indoors went out to get lunch for us from the Good Indian food truck which was very nice. He paid George although he still grumbled to me about the cost and the work he thinks should have been done…then he decided he now things George is coming back on Friday with someone else to help dig out the bramble roots. George does have a brother (who can hear) so possibly they’re doing the job together. I’ll find out tomorrow.
I irked half an hour extra just to get some stuff finished, and i’m indoors went to his GP appointment which did not go as he had hoped for various reasons. Follow-up appointments will be required, and he needed to book a blood test which fortunately can be done at a local small hospital near home.
I made dinner based on an old recipe for chicken chasseur which came out quite well. I’m not sure 'im indoors liked it too much as it wasn’t very spicy but he scoffed it so that will do for me.
Campus day today, the office is relatively quiet, I’ve had a couple of entertaining conversations with a colleague, and have a meeting with my boss later this afternoon. Let’s see what the rest of the day brings.
A cheerful Thursday to you all. I’ve had one cup of coffee and a mandarin orange. We’re approaching Labor Day weekend in the USA. Temps today will reach 92 F today, with maybe some rain.
Gloria Steinem has died. I’ve always supported feminism, so she’s a heroic figure to me.
Breakfast beckons. I’ll type to you tomorrow.
It’s parsley the reason I do too.
Afternoon.
Two of the three apples were ready to pick today (if you never picked apples, if you lift 'em up and they come off in your hand, they’re ready, if they don’t they’re not). I chose the variety based on the description without trying them, which is why I was making a fuss about a tiny number of apples.
This tree was chosen as a really long-storing variety, so of course, I promptly dropped one of the apples, bruising it and meaning I had to eat it today. Luckily, it tasted nice.
This is what passes for exciting news around here lately.
Stop at Kohl’s first. I was at mine yesterday and it is another 50% off of anything clearance. Lots of tops, pants, shorts, probably shoes but I didn’t look there. You have to root through the jumbled up sale racks but ends up with some good deals.
I’m pretty sure they do something to orthopods in residency or fellowship training. Irradiate their personalities or something.
Neurologists around me are stuck back in good ol’ boys club mode several decades past and I have to travel 110 miles round trip to see one that doesn’t prescribe leeches or bloodletting.
Good morning! No accidental snoozing for me this morning. It was 75ºF with a dewpoint of 74 when we swam walked this morning. There were some great colors when we reached the top of the hill, but my phone updated last night, and it wanted to be restarted when I opened it to get a photo. By the time we got to the dog park, most of the cool colors were gone, but it still looked nice.
We’re playing Call of Cthulhu again tonight. I think I’ll leave the rye at the bar this time. I had a wee bit too much. My players deserve a GM who didn’t accidentally get herself hammered by treating a 100 proof rye like an 80 proof one.
I started the spiro this morning. It’s a lower dose than is usually prescribed, since the endo didn’t want to stress my kidneys. Also, I already have a pretty low blood pressure, and it’s technically a high blood pressure medication. Hopefully, it’ll do the job, since the alternative is a little more permanent than I would like at this time.
Yesterday was a counselling day. I’m matriculating to monthly sessions. She said I’m probably the most thoughtful and deliberate person in my shoes she’s ever worked with.
Mrs Magill has decided to take the plunge and become one of those blue haired liberal women that Fox News keeps warning us about. When she was visiting my sister in July before her Big College Tour Quest, one of my sister’s friends had layered a rich blue with her blond in such a way that Mrs Magill really liked, so she’s getting that done today. I’ll let everyone know how it looks.
I first read that and was like, “Dude!” then I realized you meant “Employees of Brown.”
And one to grow on!!!
This made me giggle.
I’m glad to give you a smile on a rough day.

Made me smile as yesterday my hairdresser did violet overtones in my white hair. Is purple more or less liberal than blue? Anyway, it’s fun and a girl has got to have fun every chance they get.
Morning all. Slept in until a bit after 7:15am, got up not because of bladder but a leg cramp that would have woke me from a dead sleep–hurt, it did. Anyway, cramp is gone, a big bowl of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios is in my belly and the dishwasher is running. Have an Ear Doctor appointment at 1pm and coach soccer at 5:30pm so probably no gym time today, might get some things done around the house (or not).
Flyboy, hope the bugs get worked out of the new system. And sounds like that customer could qualify for ‘Not Always Right’, a website of stories of dealing with customers.
VanGo, there is always room for improvement, glad this will enhance the experience. I have a T-shirt with the words "There is a reason for everything, and the reason is usually physics’ so I can feel for you.
Shoe, {{{ }}} for the memory of your loss.
Swampy, ear is cleared and seems to be working well, like I note above I see the ENT Doc later today.
FCM, happy EEG day, hope all the news is positive.
boo fae, hope Im’ Indoors is OK.
Nut, enjoy your apples (think I’ll get one from the bowl when I finish this).
Mollie, another lovely pic to start the day right. And happy for Mrs. Magill letting her hair down, so to speak–which reminds me, need to order beard paint for later in the season when I let the littles paint my white beard a variety of colors.
And onward into the day. Haven’t heard the garbage truck yet, so guess putting the bin out last night means they won’t be hear until later in the day. So be it. Have a good Thorsday all.
BBBoo sent your entire reply to Hubs; not sure he has a problem with not rubbing his eyes, but your reply has great information. Thank you!
Well, BLANK!!! (Fill in the blank with your favorite curse word.) When Hubs got up and came downstairs, he said ‘we have a problem’, well maybe he asked if I was aware that we have a problem. No, I didn’t. Turns out problem with the AC. He called several companies, one said they couldn’t come out until next Tuesday, another said they’d be out by noon, turns out the repairman has come, diagnosed the problem and gone and it’s barely 11am. But the repair cannot be started until a bunch of ice melts first. So, he coming back tomorrow morning at 8:30. The first fix will cost about $700; however, if that doesn’t do the trick then a new unit would be recommended. I asked for a ballpark estimate. $10k Holy freaking Toledo. It’s all because of the person currently living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Repairman said that with the tariffs, prices have more than doubled in the past 2 years. Blank those who voted for that menace. Of course, this is a first world problem, I’m much more upset with the way that immigrants from other than Europe and people who look like they might be are being treated.

Blurf! Another restless night. I’m’a ready for nappage already.
Y’all have a great day!
Mornin’ everyone.
It’s 54F and a very light rain is falling. We’ll have some morning showers, then cloudiness, then rain showers and isolated thunderstorms late this afternoon with a high of 67F. All in all, I’m pleased with the rain. The neighborhood is quieter when it rains, too.
I woke up early this morning, and so did my husband, but I opted to go back to bed with the windows slightly open so I could hear the rainfall, and I slept until almost 8:00 a.m. I must have needed the sleep.
Shoe, sending you hugs.
I’ve rarely found a specialist who wasn’t pretty much brusque. I know that part of it is the healthcare system and the whole churn-and-burn thing, which requires docs to see a certain number of patients per hour, based on appointment type and specialty. Those primary care 15-minute appointments don’t leave much time for chit-chatting. Still, from a patient’s point of view, it’s frustrating because one feels rushed and doesn’t always remember everything that brought them to the doc in the first place. But some docs are just plain arrogant A-holes. I worked with many docs over the years before joining my last agency, and that has been my experience.
Yay for Ms. Peach feeling a little better, VanGo.
FCM, I hope the neurologist visits went well.
Zeus got to go to the dog park again yesterday and loved it. His vet visit went well, too.
I expect I’ll do some laundry today, along with some vacuuming and dusting. That’s pretty much it. The dogs tracked in the inaugural mud for the season yesterday, so I’ll need to get that properly cleaned up.
Alright, I’m already behind due to the whole sleeping-in thing. Please take care of yourselves.
