Good morning everyone.
It’s 72F and sunny outside right now; the expected high temp will be 84. Bright, clear skies will prevail.
Happy Birthday, Flyboy!
Happy Doperviserary, Boo!
I did something to my back and woke up to severe spasms. I chose not to drive to work while suffering spasms and took the day off to deal with my back. I know it’ll clear up by the end of the day. The spasms have subsided a little, and as long as I don’t move a lot, I’m good. Yeah, I’m going to baby this thing because I grayed out in the garage and broke my ankle the last time I tried to ignore the spasms.
I received two big chunks of bad news yesterday: First, Polar (as I suspected) does not have a prolapsed anus due to his surgery. I am seeing another growth from cancer sticking out of his anus. There isn’t anything my vet can do, she can refer me to a specialist, but it’s unlikely the specialist can do anything. He is otherwise fine except for a probable eye infection I am treating with eye drops.
Poor guy had a rough, exhausting day. He isn’t suffering and isn’t in pain. The vet warned me that he would start having problems defecating in the future, and they can prescribe meds for that when that happens, but the meds can cause diarrhea. Our goal (mine and hers) is that he not suffer. He is not in pain right now, and as long as he eats, drinks, defecates, urinates, and is himself, we’ll keep going. I am unsure how much time we have, but we will make the most of it.
The second nugget of bad news is that my daughter and son-in-law are moving to Missouri, where they have a farm. They’ve spent two years looking for a house that wasn’t well over a million dollars, had land, and most importantly, had a good school district. They were unsuccessful. And, while they could certainly afford a seven-figure house, they are trying to be sensible. Since my SiLs recall back to the office, living further south is out of the question, and since they already have the farm, for now, it makes the most sense to move there. Since he’ll be out of state, he can be remote. He’d be required to report to the office if he lived in the state. Plus, the cost of living is way lower there than here, so they could live on my daughter’s salary if my son-in-law ever lost his job. And, finally, they have enough money put aside in savings to live through the grandkids’ high school years if both ever lost their jobs.
We broke in the new Weber last night and had some hamburgers. I also made a pasta salad to go with the burgers. The grandkids did an excellent job of eating their dinner too. My grandson now calls us MaMa and Poppa. Dang, he’s just started really talking to us, and they’re moving away. Going to have to face time those kiddos!
I need to hobble out to the backyard and water my posies. Have a good day!
I am, of course, saddened. However, they must do what’s best for them and the kids. I can’t imagine not being near my daughter, but people always do it. Besides, we can always fly out to visit them. It was difficult to hear that, and I know it was difficult for them to tell us, but they made a point of telling us in person instead of via text or Messenger.
Their house goes on the market next week. The only good thing to come out of this is I no longer have any fear of moving too far from the grandkids and can look for property further south.
