(Old) Flyboy’s Birthday🎂in the new MMP~

OK, the following I put in the old MMP. It was a reply to Bippity Boppity Boo

Many years ago friends and I stood across from the WBC right here in Topeka. That’s where the rock that their church is under is located. At 68 I am the age of Phred’'s older kids, and have know about them ever since I was in school. Before the picketing we knew they were strange, but it wasn’t as bad as it became.

Anyway, it was nearly Christmas, so we were across the intesection of 10th an Gage, and we started singing Christmas carols I had printed out. Some were religious, some secular, just like our group, But oh boy, when we got to “don we now our GAY apparel” we really belted that out! We came back the next Sunday and they had a sign made especially for us. We were THE SODOMITE SINGERS. Didn’t bother us, some were gay and some were not. If I do say so myself, considering there was no rehearsal, we did a pretty good job. The music was all fairly familiar, even religious tunes like “Lo How a Rose Ere Blooming.”

Ugh, sorry about that.
I hope it feels better soon.
One of the things on my list today was to contact a Pain Center. One of my friends has been on my ass to do it. I’m nervous about it though.
I have an appointment for Friday.

The more I read, the more I’m pretty sure I have plantar fasciitis. I don’t know if I need a pain center, a podiatrist, or if the orthopedist can handle it.
My friend had it and she had to get a shot in her heel. I get queasy just thinking about it.
She was also told to wear shoes with little heels and not to go barefoot.
I can’t imagine wearing shoes in the house.

I thought everybody knew a pint of ice cream is a single serving.
That’s why you eat it straight out of the carton, you don’t even have to dirty a bowl.

{{{Taters}}} I’m sorry about Polar. It hurts when our babies hurt.
I’m sorry your family is moving further away.

Thank you, Nellie, I’m glad the GR make you smile. I wish I could get the videos to upload.
They’ve been getting themselves into hot water a lot lately, and no shrinkage.

Happy Birthday N9IWP!

Pilot, you make my head spin!

MetalMouse I’m with you. I hate to be late and while I can be patient with others, 60-90 is just plain rude.

Thanks to everybody who says the GR are cute without pointing out that I need to vacuum.
They just had a pretty intense play session and went out.
I hope they decide to sleep tonight and not keep me up.

FCM, the cost of going out to eat just blows my mind so much of the time. Breakfast used to be the cheap meal. Now the prices are sometimes in the same range as the burgers at lunch. And you’re getting less. I just don’t get it.

teela, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that the next two or three weeks are nothing but bliss!

sari wearing them out works for both puppies and kids. It’s why I let BtY be a free-range child.

sensei, I get you regarding the splitting of management. I hope you and your wife have at least gotten on the same page with some of the other’s responsibilities. There’s nothing worse than a kid saying, “But moooooommmmm/daaaaaaaaaaad let’s me,” and not knowing if that’s true or not. Good luck with all of it until she returns. (Well, good luck after she returns as well, but you know what I mean…)

bumba, definitely sounds like you’re being kept busy. Packing and moving, even over large amounts of time, is a true pain in the back! I’m hoping that everything goes smoothly for you and Wifey.

N9IWP, happy birthday to you too! Cake for breakfast is always good. And welcome to the thread!

taters, definitely don’t ignore the spasms! From one spasm sufferer to another, I definitely know the pain you’re dealing with and hope it gets feeling better soon. {{{Polar & taters}}}

pilot, I hope you’re not facing any further delays. I know that you’ve got a great schedule, but this has to be frustrating. Wishing you safe wings.

sari, sounds like that side of your son’s family is a real peach to deal with. I don’t blame you for saying enough’s enough. Focusing on the pups seems like a much less high blood pressure inducing time than dealing with them!

What kind of make-up? Not that I usually wear any myself, but I’m nosy. :stuck_out_tongue:

nellie, I’m glad that you’re getting the MRI call tomorrow but I wish you hadn’t walked to the gym! It’s tough when you’re going stir crazy and have to get out of the house, I just hope you didn’t put yourself back at all.

sari, I hope that whatever you find out ends up being the best for you. Whether the Pain Center is able to help or you need to see an orthopedist or podiatrist, I hope you get relief soon. {{{sari}}}

My day has been a pretty good one, all things considered. I got the walk in this morning, followed by a shower that has further lightened the color in my hair. Storytime was a blast, though I did spend most of it outside to turn away people so we wouldn’t get in trouble from the fire marshal. Still, I got to hear the kids dancing and singing, which always lightens my heart.

I managed to get a lot of my online stuff done today, which makes me very happy. I’m caught up with all of my games for the upcoming convention, just a little more that I need to do regarding notes for the games I’m running. I spent a long time today chatting online with a new friend, and I even played some Civ VI because… it was there? I talked Hubby into going to MTG: Commander at our local game shop tonight. I’m an MTG widow, especially with the new LotR set coming out soon. I’d rather have him there enjoying himself, talking with other people that understand magic, than smile and nodding all the time. I love that he’s got the passion, and I love that he wants to share. But there’s only so much that I can hear before it gets mushed in my mind.

Had my virtual book club tonight also. It was a smaller than usual group, but we were reading a YA LGBTQ+ comic so that didn’t fit everyone’s tastes. But those of us that were there had a good talk about it. I kinda wish I had a way to get to Austin to meet a lot of these people, but… maybe someday. In the meantime, the once a month we get together is just as good for me mentally as the in person book clubs that I’m part of.

I should go get myself some Dr Pepper Float ice cream before my kids eat it all. I can hide candy, cookies, cakes, etc from them. I can’t hide ice cream. sigh Then I think I’ll settle in for some readin’ and relaxin’. Have a great night/morning/afternoon, all! {{{everybody}}}

Oh, boy! Eight-ounce, bacon-wrapped, aged 27 days, filet mignon, baked potato, Caesar salad, escargots (mine are still better  ) Anna’s Bread (we saw Anna delivering a small basket of bread to the gas station across the street), Manhattans, and Merlot. I’m stuffed like a daemon! Now that we’re home, I’ve made myself a Vieux Carré (only with Tennessee whiskey, since we don’t have any rye at the moment). Two hours and 20 minutes until bed time, then up at 0420 for my drive down to Burien.

@N91WP

And a raucous, heartfelt :musical_note::notes::tada::partying_face::confetti_ball::birthday: happy birthday to you :cupcake::tada::partying_face::confetti_ball::notes::musical_note:too~glad you stopped by. Come by again soon.

Word of warning about pain doctors~be very cautious if they advise any cutting, surgery or nerve ablation~that’s how I ended up with a paralyzed half diaphragm and oxygen 24/7-a botched pain management radio frequency nerve ablation. Didn’t obliterate the nerves that were causing chronic pain but did kill the nerve I need to inhale and exhale. They tend to be hotshots and cowboys, hit and run, don’t look back to fix their messes. Just measure 3 or 4 times and only cut once. Ok, I’m done venting and kvetching now.

That was my first thought too. Mascara, vixen eyeliner, blue velvet lipstick, inquiring minds want to know.

Happy birthday flyboy! I hope you enjoyed your dinner!

Happy Birthday to you as well Brian. Good to have you here.

BBBoo, how lucky we are to have you here, here’s hoping for many more Doperversaries!

A couple of years ago, I pulled a muscle in my back stepping off a curb.

You are so right that getting old ain’t for sissies!

Something else we have been noticing is being charged extra for things we are used to getting for free. Hubs is low carb, so if he orders something with potatoes, he asks to substitute tomato slices. He asks for no rice, but extra beans. I like salsa on my eggs. Places that didn’t have problems with these things in the past are now charging much more than it’s worth. One regular breakfast place lost us forever over a 2 dollar charge for a small amount of salsa.

Sounds like some cats I know.

They sure are cutiepies, are you sure those are the puppies you are complaining about, they look far too sweet and innocent to cause such trouble.

I did get it figured out without google, so go me!

I remembered the 13 hours thing from when I was stationed there, just couldn’t remember which way it went.

Absolutely!

Kitchen noises always need to be checked out!

Hubs has been known to hurt himself sleeping, but not that bad. I hope you feel better soon.

I’m so sorry about the news about Polar, I know you love him to death and will keep him happy and comfortable until that horrible last trip to the vet. :people_hugging:

Yeah, that would tick me he heck off.

Walking barefoot is painful for me. My feet need the arch support and to not slip around like happens in most sandals, so full shoes it always is.

That’s the part you listen to!

As to hummers, while they do like red the best, they check out other colors as well. I see them poking at our white clover all the time. But…if you have room for another fuchsia, I say go for it!

I’m so happy you reminded me about fuchsias because mine is doing very well and looks very attractive. I probably wouldn’t have bought it except for you, and now that I have one, I’ll do it again next year.

You rock, you are totally awesome and I wanna grow up to be just like you.

So, we’ve had a fairly cool June so far. Currently it’s mid 70’s at 1800. We have high hopes for a nice wet monsoon, it would be great if this horrible drought would finally end.

Hubs climbed ladders today, and I made sure I had my cell in my pocket before he started. Happily, he didn’t fall off and break anything. The security cameras in the front have been successfully installed and now he can get an alert on his phone whenever anyone walks on the road in front of our house. He’s also going to have lots of alerts about javalina and the neighbor’s dogs. Now he’s complaining about getting alerts about the weeds blowing in the culvert. I can’t wait to see how the cameras like our back yard.

I was raised on fresh eggs cause our neighbors all had chickens, so I got into the habit of washing and floating eggs before I was 10 years old. Not wanting to break good habits, I wash and float store bought eggs as well. A couple of weeks ago, we got some store bought eggs in one of my surplus boxes and I thought I’d make some hard boiled eggs out of them today.

I got my first floating egg in 20 years from a factory egg. I’m amazed that it happened, factory chickens can’t possibly hide eggs and the automated egg processing machinery certainly wouldn’t allow one lone egg to hang out long enough to go bad. T’was very strange.

I was going to throw the egg in my compost bin, but then remembered that we have a raccoon so I put it in the big trash bin instead.

For those who have been on tenterhooks, my compost now smells like dirt again and it looks right. I’ll give it another month and then put it on our maters.

We’ve never used Bank of America, so when I got a letter from their unrecovered property department we both thought it was junk…but we are in the habit of opening everything so I did. Many, MANY years ago, I was on unemployment for about 4 months. My payments went to a Bank of America card and apparently I had 120 bucks left on my card so all I had to do was sign a paper saying send it to me and mail it back or they would turn it back to the state. That paper is signed and the envelop has been dropped off at a mailbox. I think I will use it to take hubs out to our fav mexican place, we haven’t been there for a while.

We already have a niner don’t we? But happy birthday to n91wp Trying to come up with a clever nickname. 'Tis a lot to type . Perhaps we need to know more about you.

Whiskey Pop?

Radar.

Sari dear lady … If your concern is dirty shoes sullying your floors, get one pair of new indoor-only shoes of the correct heel height. They’ll be no harder on floors than are your feet.

I’ve lived several years with no shoes worn in house, indoor-only shoes worn in house, and any/all outdoors shoes worn in house. Makes zero difference I could ever tell.

For older folks with lesser circulation and diabetics they explicitly recommend never going barefoot. Too easy to poke a hole in your unprotected foot unnoticed and develop a badly- or non-healing sore. Which is the first big step on the too-short road to an amputation.

When the doc says “walk” and the knee says “no”, that means the doc does not correctly understand the knee. Which means time for a new doc, not a new knee.

As to me …
It’s 11pm and I’m freshly awake, up, showered, and after posting this drivel will finish getting dressed then go to work. A shiny jet will arrive at midnight and we shall drive it to the Midwest. With 28 long-suffering passengers, 150+ empty seats, and 4 highly disgruntled FA’s who’ve had a far worse day than we have.

At least the weather is nice and that this ungodly hour there will be no traffic. Sadly, we already fly about as fast as the darn thing will go, so unlike on the interstate at 1am, there’s no opportunity to go 2x the usual speeds and take 1/2 the usual time. Sigh.

Talk to y’all on Tue during my ride home. At a time TBD based on whether I try for a real hotel sleep or just flop in a recliner backstage and try to catch the dawn patrol to home, perchance to sleep onboard and later at home in the afternoon.

My short vacation to Chicago starts Wed, runs through Sun, and I did not need my sleep turned inside out the day prior. Oh well.

So they needed help on Twilight. Long story short a shift every 12 hours for the next 3 days. And 7-8 hours of OT by Wednesday. :+1:

 :birthday: :champagne:HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :champagne: :birthday:

Evening all. Avoided nappage and ate at Mickey D’s instead of bringing it home, so that was most of the activity for the evening. Got another piece of mail from Champion Windows wanting to sell me new windows; problem is (1) I got new windows about 4 years ago and (2) When I got their estimate at the time it was 3-4 times what the other contractors wanted. So right into the shredder for them. If their sales department hasn’t figured it out yet, I’m all for letting them spend some bucks sending me useless stuff to be shredded.

His name is his Ham Radio call sign, so “Ham” or “RadioGuy” might be possibilities for a MMP name.

Cupcakes, and a fa-la-la-la-la-la-la to you for the singing. Have a nephew in the Topeka area, might get out there yet this year.

JtC, hey, free money! That’s always a nice surprise.

Flyboy, that sounds like a great meal; have a safe drive tomorrow.

Everybody’s a comic these days… Did my Moanday morning shopping at Wal-Mart, then remembered some other stuff I needed, so I had to make up for forgetting those this morning by going to Kroger in the afternoon…and that’s probably way to many words on the topic.

Leave the knee; take the cannoli." Seriously, I hope the MRI helps define the problem so it can get fixed. I worry about my knees sometimes.

OK, early rising plus a fair amount of activity added to a weekend of soccer reffing has me all ready for bed now. Take care all.

Thanks very much Bumba; appreciate the tip!!!

Happy Birthday flyboy :birthday:
Happy Doperversary BBBoo :confetti_ball:

Thank you everybody!. You made me me smile so many times today. As I tell my IRL friends and family, you Mumpers people my world and I thank my undeserving lucky stars every single day.

Carry on…. and I know we all will.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

“Leave the doc, take the canoli.”

Actually, what confuses most people is that the US is to the east of Japan, so it seems like it should be a day later. It would be, except that International Day Line, which zips us ahead a day early.

We’re pretty about having slightly different rules and the kids have adjusted appropriately. My daughter is really good at bending rules as much as possible with plausible denial while my son feels more comfortable following rules to a t.

When we were in Taiwan, my wife had to do everything, from handling school, extra curriculum activities, banking, bills, et al. At least in Japan I can do my share.

Things are getting more expensive here in Japan as well.

Morning, mumpers! It’s a balmy 22c/71f with a predicted high of 27c/81f and sunny. That looks about right from my window. Weather app does not approve and says “If you see anyone who is happy with this weather, tell them to fucking shut it.” I kind of agree, I dislike hot weather although today is less humid at 71% than yesterday. I am at home with windows open and comfy clothes on so that’s a bonus. Not sure how I will fare tomorrow when I have to go to campus and brave the outdoors, and all those people.

metalmouse our academics are in a long-running dispute with universities in general, based on issues with pay and pensions as well as terms and conditions. There are many things going on with teaching and research contracts that they’re not happy about and since the universities have not responded to strike action taken during teaching time, they are resorting to a boycott on marking and assessment. The result for me is that we have a new load of guidance about how to deal with things that haven’t been marked which is going to mean a lot of manual alterations to student records, and a whole mess of stuff around graduation. Makes my head hurt just thinking about it, but also makes me grateful I’m doing this in a smaller dept where there is just so much less pressure!

Departmental staff meeting has been attended, and minutes will be cobbled together from my notes. Annoyingly, they don’t do “proper” minutes for their meetings and have instead developed a peculiar form that requires action points, decisions, and things of note. That usually means something gets duplicated in at least two of those sections, sometimes all three.

One more meeting to go at lunchtime and then I am free to get on with stuff for the rest of the day. I need to put some laundry on as well, especially since I put some dye on my hair this morning and dropped a blob of it on the white part of the top I was wearing. That’ll come out pinky/purple so it needs to go in the wash instead. Then tonight we are off grocery shopping, not my turn to cook so once I’ve come back and unpacked everything, I get some sloth time on the sofa, hopefully with a mog or two.

Onwards then, I need more tea!
