Ditto. I could barely see Ms Peach at the far end of the yard. Seems all the snow is not so much melting as sublimating.
Nope, no eggs. Mostly fruit, nuts, vegetables, grains.
I am amused that a bit of this is to take your mind off of what you eat, and focus on bettering yourself and serving others. Quite a few people fixate on food like mad fools, scrutinize ingredients, and make it the focus of lent. One of those ironic backfires.
Paintcharge, def.a feel of sublimation. There is also a bit of a slime on the paved surfaces. The city needs a power wash.
Aaaack! This afternoon we had to deal with a rep from Optum, the company that handles my Rx drug benefits. Due to my various ailments, I have a long list of Rx and OTC drugs. I can handle being old. I’ve come to accept the things that are defective in my old body. I really hate having to explain it all to an insurance company rep.
Would you like for me to send a few extra degrees from Texas? ![]()
Given that I didn’t get groceries (mainly fresh produce) today, I had to get creative for supper. A small bowl of vegetable soup and an egg taco.
Chatted with All State and they gave me the number of the adjuster that’s supposed to call me in the next couple of days. If I haven’t heard by midday Friday I’ll give them a call.
Stayed home from Mass tonight, which will cost me some bucks. Hoping that I’m well enough to go in tomorrow. It won’t cost me money to miss tomorrow, I’ll just have to make up the lessons I miss and I don’t have time for that.
Howdy Y’all! I am exhaustated. The doc appointment went long and I had to hightail it across town to the church house for the service. A lot more people showed up than expected, so I had to measure out more wine in the Sacristy durin’ the peace. It’s a good problem to have. There’s always some reserved wafers, so we had enough of those. Priest was impressed with my ability to guess how much we needed. I told him I could see we had more dippers than sippers so I knew two more ounces would do it. OYKW was there to my surprise, sorta, so afterwards we went to the fish place for a late lunch since we were in town. Oh, doc said I am still alive, so this is not a zombie post. My BP was 116/76 so I was mellow today. The vampire took blood to check my PSA.
Pavo and all the other sickies, hope you feel better soonest.
MetalMouse never thought about one of those ear domes gettin’ stuck in my ear. YIKES! I shall be ever diligent about it now.
Evening all. Pedaling and Treading have been completed for the day and Ham, Cheese and bread took care of my dining needs. Am munching on some baby carrots now because I do try to eat the occasional healthy snack (but will be going to get a bag of pretzels here in a little bit). Still 63F outside and supposed to reach into the 70’s tomorrow, but rain is on the way. Ear Drops have been procured, supposed to use them twice a day, Doc recommended before bed and in the morning (I can’t wear the hearing aid for an hour afterward) so the first dose will be tonight.
Garbage and Recyclables are out at the curb, which means the collection folks won’t show up until the afternoon…
And now how are all my friends here doing…
Maus, Hippie, I laughed, nice photo.
Pavo, hope you’re feeling better and get some positive status from the insurance folks.
flyboy, at a guess probably around 400+ calories, depending on how much dressing you used. Mine was 2 1/2 braunschweiger sammiches and a bowl of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup with a bunch of crumbled crackers. May be a bit high on the count, but I’d rather err on the side of caution. And everything is better with bacon.
Cookie, take care and stay warm and cosy.
FCM, glad Otis has found a happy place when you guys are gone for awhile. Hope you remain infection-free.
Knots, hope any insurance tangles get ironed out in your favor.
swampy, my BP was something like 148/78, but it’s always higher when I’m at a Doctor’s office. No blood drawn for a ear problem, though. And yeah, I will be watching very closely in the future when I remove my hearing aids and now know what to do if it happens again.
And onward into the wonderful world of the internet. Catch y’all later.
Currently 37 Ferrets. We only got 39.9 of the 40 we were supposed to have Monday, 36 of yesterday’s 41, and 37.9 of today’s 41. The weatherguessers are still predicting 40 for tomorrow - I’ll believe it when I see it. And they’re saying rain and/or snow tonight, and again tomorrow night through Monday. We are not amused.
Supper tonight was corned beef hash, scrambled eggs and salad. Tomorrow morning we’ll be putting a pork butt in the crockpot, an I guess I’ll be making chili again Friday. Lots of sloth planned for the rest of the week, too.
Up from naptime, which included being awakened by a bio break and Spot wanting a brief snuggle. Having a martini, and cheeseburger with fries for dinner. It’s currently 62 degrees Ferret Height(16.66 Centipedes). The high Sunday is supposed to be 49 Ferret Height. No snow is forecast.
So you eat politicians during Lent? ![]()
Anything 75lbs+ they are supposed to ask for help. Assuming there is a another driver nearby without 150+ stops.
100, typo. Allegedly the limit is 150, but customers lie.
It’s a Raleigh thing.
I feel you. United Health denied the initial shoulder replacement for Roomie, because just because the top of the humerus had disintegrated, and the arm was hanging on by the meat didn’t mean a shoulder replacement was warranted. ![]()
It was almost 60 today. Now there is heavy fog.
Getting up early tomorrow to get my eyes scanned and hopefully get cataract removal set up.
TIL, thank you!
Harry is interested in planting milkweed now that I’m going to do it. He’s giving up his crawdad patch and his huge vegetable garden, he says its too much for him now. Plus, its just him and his wife, they can’t eat everything he grows. He says growing butterflies sounds much easier and more enjoyable to watch.
I’m sorry.
Will hot chocolate help? Or a cup of warm broth?
I don’t do Lent but I do give up booze for two weeks and pot for two weeks each year - but not at the same time. It lets me feel like I’m in control of my vices.
Coffee is not a vice, it is a necessity, almost sacred in my world.
I enjoy days when I can just stay at home and play with cats or whatever.
Is your condo above the clouds?
But did they help you take a nap? Our fuzzbutts always help us nap when we are feeling poorly.
Many of my meal choices are made the same way.
I hope it passed you two by. I’ve been hearing that the latest ick is really hard on us old farts.
Just for fun, I keep track of the temp back in AZ. I’ll announce the weather to Hubs and we will both look out at the gray sky and agree that we don’t miss the constant heat at all.
Money grubbing bastids one and all. My sympathy for Roomie.
Today was foggy in the morning and rain was promised but none happened. It was dark and gloomy, though, the forest through the drifting fog was spooky or romantic depending on how I looked at it.
Our heat pump is back to 100%. The heat pump guy came inside and saw George. “That’s the biggest cat I’ve ever seen!” When you live with a big cat, you stop noticing until someone else points it out.
I couldn’t stitch today. I just could not count to six to save my life, and messed up a twisty stitch several times. So I put it aside and did other things.
Hubs brought four mandarin oranges home which surprised me. The stores here bag that sort of thing, they don’t sell them loose which is really annoying. When I mentioned that, he told me that had bought a whole bag but remembered that I couldn’t eat them all before they went bad so he took most of them to the library.
This sort of thing is why he still lives ![]()
Doggio wins the thread for the week!
my BP was something like 148/78, but it’s always higher when I’m at a Doctor’s office
The old “white coat fever.”. I get it too.
I’ve got 60 lbs of dog with zoomies. Makes for a difficult time getting to sleep. I was assured by the dog procurement department that she would stay smol. They lied. She’s still short, but very dense. In both senses of the word.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 58 degrees Ferret Height(14.444 Centipedes), with rain the forecast.

Sounds like you adopted Gordie’s sister. ![]()
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/35f with a predicted high of 4c/40f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “What’s up with the fucking chilly bullshit outside? No, seriously what’s the fucking deal?” I suspect the deal is that winter hasn’t finished with us yet.
Well, I’m home and the ear problem is solved.
Sounds very uncomfortable though, but good to know that you’ve had the offending bit removed!
Snowing like it means to stay around now at 1600.
I hope you have adequate supplies to withstand the incoming new snowpocalypse….
We got lucky with this pet-sitter/groomer/kennel. And the owner lurves Otis.
I am sure Otis thinks he got lucky with all of you too.
The doc appointment went long and I had to hightail it across town to the church house for the service.
Good news that you’re still alive and everything went well, including lunch with OYKW.
When I mentioned that, he told me that had bought a whole bag but remembered that I couldn’t eat them all before they went bad so he took most of them to the library.
He must be learning from you that there are lots of little things he can do to help other people. You’re both still on the Good List!
I’ve got 60 lbs of dog with zoomies. Makes for a difficult time getting to sleep.
Cherry is not a large cat but she decided that bedtime means fuss time so she has to get on the bed with me, and climb over me several times before she decides where she’s going to settle. After that, she lets me fuss her but has to headbutt my elbow every time I stop, just because she’s not done yet. I told ‘im indoors I need to work on getting to bed half an hour early just to accommodate her requirements.
Yesterday turned into a more productive day than I’d expected, which was good. My commute home was relatively easy and we decided to go to the Summer House for a curry. After food, we strolled round to the Newhampton Inn for a couple of drinks before heading home. On our way out of the pub, we were accosted by a woman who invited us to an open mic comedy night at the pub next month, ended up having a long chat to her and the pub’s owner so that was fun. Got home and was in bed before midnight so it turned out to be a later night than planned.
Today I was up at a reasonable time to drop my car at the garage for today’s work. It’s only 20-30 minutes walk from home so I was back here and logged into irk by 9am. I’ve got meeting minutes to write up this morning and also a half-hour meeting this afternoon. I’ve moved my minion meeting to tomorrow morning so we can do it in person instead of online, and my minion who’s been on holiday has brought some lurgy home with him and is off sick instead.
‘im indoors is contemplating going out today so there might be lunch from the nice Indian food truck in town, and he’s cooking tonight. I should be able to pick my car up later today so might have to log out of irk early to do that. We shall see.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and cloudy. TWPTB say a cold front will move in early next week. The plan of the day is to be a RDOS hermit. I don’t need or want to leave da cave. High sloth is the plan. Even sup will be somewhat slothful as the plan is grilled chikin strips, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.
Coppertone hope all goes well with the eye doc.
Cookie I am not a fan of Greek food. I do, however, like baklava a lot.
JtC you have trained hubs well.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
BooFae hope you are able to get Keith back tonight.
But did they help you take a nap? Our fuzzbutts always help us nap when we are feeling poorly.
Is sitting on the bed and attacking my feet under the covers “helping”?
(I did get some cat cuddles last night.)
It was almost 60 today. Now there is heavy fog.
We hit 60 also, and the fog as we crossed the bay was a definite pea-souper. There are 2 parallel spans, one heading east, the other, well, you can guess. Anyway, you could barely see one from the other, and they’re not all that far apart.
I couldn’t stitch today.
When I play my freebie games on my tablet, the price of freebies is advertising every level or so. Anyway, today I saw one for learning embroidery stitches. It was like this (maybe the same product - I didn’t check out the name.) I thought it was a very clever product - I’ve never see such a thing before.
Today is starting with 39 Ferrets and overcast with rain and 50 Ferrets promised this afternoon. Theoretically we’ll be moving a big heavy table from the basement to the shop. I’m hoping FCD will agree to disassemble it partially. His back has been hurting him and I’m just not very strong. But, of course, he’s somewhat (?) pig-headed about taking care of himself, so we’ll just have to wait and see. With luck, we might be able to use the garden cart and lawn tractor to haul it up the hill from the basement.
And if that happens, I’ll help him reassemble it. And I’ll help with more shop cleaning - no doubt dust that we stirred up when cleaning the other day has settled all over everything again..
Otis crashed hard last night - frolicking with Dolly wore him out. I wish he had dog buddies living closer to us - the workout is good for him and for us.
And so the day begins. Happy Thursday!!
fcm, tired dog, happy dog.
doggio, perhaps if the poisoning threat wasn’t high. lent is all about improvement and betterment.
jtc, at home i am 10 stories up, at the office 29 stories up. it really socks in at the office.
icky day in philly. foggy mist and a bit of a chill in the air. day 3 of no snow boots!
Mornin’ all.
It’s 33F and cloudy outside. I woke up to light rainfall at 4:30 a.m, but it seems to have abated for now. The expected daytime high is 40F, and we’ll have peeks of afternoon sun.
FCM, may I suggest another dog as a playmate for Otis?
I hope FCD is sensible about moving the table.
Metal Mouse, I’m glad to read you got the ear thing sorted, but wow, that must have been painful.
BooFae, I hope all goes well with Keith.
So you eat politicians during Lent?
This made me laugh aloud.
I didn’t leave yesterday, but I managed to do some laundry. I think I’ll tackle all the bedding and towels today.
We still haven’t heard from the schedulers about Mr. Taters’ surgery. The notes said they’d call within four weeks, though. It seems like they’re waiting until the last minute. He did receive his eye drops for post surgery a few days ago.
Welp, I think I’ll finish my coffee and dust a bit. Between yesterday’s hailstorms, we had a stray beam of sunlight or two, which revealed a shocking amount of dust on my TV credenza.
Please take care of yourselves.
