(Old) Funny things you overheard in the MMP

I’m 1 for 2 on Nebraska :basketball:. The men lost to Texas A & M, but at least we got to the tournament and there’s always next year to build towards. The Cornhusker women won against Texas A & M. It was a squeaker in the last 6 or so minutes, I think I held my breath, but we persevered and won by a couple of points. Iowa will probably end up being the champions even though Nebraska is one of the few (4) teams that beat them in the regular season, to the surprise of the entire world. Some other team will knock us out before we would have to play Iowa again. It’s a nice problem to have.

Hoping there is no Mumper out there deeply attached to Texas A & M so I can revel in this win, after all A &M stole our athletic director out from under us last week, he literally left the state 12 hours after the announcement. It was like the season finale bloodbath in Yellowstone.

Now off to more important things like biskits, as soon as I shift the purring Siamese off my arm. Cup of :coffee: #2 will also happen. Later today I’m volunteering at a fund raising Scrabble tournament for the refugee literacy organization I teach for-that sounded like a better idea two weeks ago when I volunteered-now I have to put on real clothes and wash my hair. Phooey. It’s cold outside, the wind chill is 21 degrees, I don’t wanna.

Waves from somewhere outside of Amerillo TX. I’ve been keeping up, but tablet typing suck.

Sitting here in L.A. listening to my BIL crunch Doritos. This is a noise I never have to hear again.

That is why I alway pay up to get the multiplier. I forget to get tickets last night.

Especially when people chew with their mouth open.

Sitting in the ER. We had to call 911 - likely a heart attack, not that I’m any kind of expert. FCD is with her and I can go back when she’s thru triage and whatever.

It doesn’t look good. My poor sweetie is mess. Not sure what to think…

Hi folks! Nearly noon here on a lazy gray Saturday. It’s been a very rainy morning south of us, but so far only threatening here. We might, just, skate and stay dry all day. Might. Presently 72/22 on the way to 79/26.

I’m now out by the pool listening to the birds, where I’ve been for about 3 hours now while caffinatin’ and procrastinatin’. So far I’ve seen a probably pregnant mourning dove & her mate, a blue jay, and much to my surprise a cardinal as well. Plus the ubiquitous medium-sized noisy black birds (grackles?) and LBTBs.

All attempts to keep Big Boy Lunch under control yesterday came to naught. We started at 1pm and by 4:30 further resistance was futile. So we went back to his shop and kept the party rolling another couple hours.

That friend eventually had to go home to wife & kids, so I ended up connecting with another pilot pal & his GF down at Ft. Lauderdale’s main beach and finally got home at midnight after the band quit. A fine if rainy end to a busy week.

Nope, we did not get away rain free. Just started suddenly, but more a soaking rain than a showery rain. We shall see. Yesterday TPTB had cancelled my roomie’s planned golf tournament for today and so far that is proving to have been a wise decision.

As to y’all …

Aww. Hugs for MIL. And you. Dying first isn’t easy, but being left behind is no picnic either. Especially that late in their lives together.

Hooray for TobiasDay!! That’ll perk everyone up.

Me too. I guess we’re both mentally 12.

I’m not originally southern, and it’s debatable whether southern Florida is Southern, but I sure cook that same way. Some of this, some of that, tastes about right. Done.

Congrats on escaping mowage.

Yep. Sadly my stoopit pancreas refuses to play nice with biskits or with gravy. Yet another thing I miss. …

Yaay for improvement. It’s been awhile.

I have found of late that even a bit of other noise, such as a TV, means I don’t hear the chirp of an incoming text even if the phone is sitting at my elbow. I may have to tweak the noise my phone makes for incoming texts to be something more raucous or long-running.

How’s his hearing? Would a bigger badder noise be an acceptable compromise?

Back to me …
Gotta quit for now; Roomie and I are seeking something brunchlike now that it’s noon. I’ll catch up with the rest of your pearls of wit and wisdom a bit later.

Cheers all!

Sending you all supportive thoughts.

Oh, I’m so sorry. Thinking of you.

Oh dear. I’m so sorry. Things just turn on an instant.

MOOOM, add me as one who is thinking of you and MIL, and especially FCD.

{{{{FairyChatFamily}}}}

Still here. CAT scan being ordered. Dr doesn’t think it’s a heart attack. So we wait.

Many prayers on the way.

I am so sorry to hear this

FCM I truly hope all goes as well as it can.

Home. temporarily. FCD is still with his mother. She’s had the CAT scan and they’re waiting to hear if anything was found. The whole time I was sitting there, she’d periodically grimace in pain, so something ain’t right. I came home to let Higgs out, and I found the nearly-filled soda FCD lost - on the floor between the table and the couch, on its side. I managed to wrestle the couch out and use the carpet cleaner to suck up the soda and clean the carpet. I’ve got a fan aimed at the wet carpet.

So, we wait. MIL wants to come home. I just don’t know what to think. Scary…

Howdy Y’all! We did venture out today. First we had a burger and a beer at the bar down the road from da cave. Then we went to Food Kitty to get some collards cause they are on sale. They were purty so got a big bunch which have been cleanded and are now in da freezer. They shall be a part of the Easter feast. Speakin’ of which, I need to remember to get the ham outta da freezer in the next couple of days I reckon. The planned festal menu is baked ham, squish casserole, collard greens, N.O.T. sallit, rolls and cheesecake with macerated strawberries. This is intended to feed eight people mid-afternoonish on Easter. Easter mornin’ will be deheatenization and gettin’ Jesus up outta the grave and such.

Thanks y’all for all the condolences. Rose will indeed be missed.

{{{MOOOOOOM AND FAMILY}}} just hope all goes as well as it can, like VanGo said.

They sent her home after ruling out heart attack, pericarditis, blood clot, and something else. They’re calling it muscular-skeletal pain of unknown origin and gave her pain meds. We shall see how that goes. Long, scary day. We’re all exhausted.

More hugs to the FairyChats from this way. And what VanGo said.

I got a knock on the door about noon. I knew that they were supposed to be inspecting concrete this weekend, but didn’t expect that they would be actually doing the work. Right now, my patio furniture and clay pots are on the other side of my stoop and the patio and the walkway between the patio and stoop have been jackhammered up. Poor Nelson was channeling Gordie and has begun to get a little hoarse. Me? Just about gone crazy with the jackhammer noise and the dog barking all afternoon. They’ll likely pour tomorrow, so they say, so another day of dog craziness.
