I’ve been having some light issues as well. I understand it is normal, our optic nerves haven’t been exposed to that much light in decades and our brains get overstimulated at times. No swelling though, and it hasn’t happened for a while, so hopefully your light problems will go away soon too.
Sticky, I love your new ink, it is so uplifting!
I can always tell the homes where cats live. There is always at least one box on the floor!
That is SO cute!
If you were to look at the ingredients, you would learn that some cookie makers think that ground macadamia nuts add enough flavor that they don’t have to put in the lovely chunks we all adore.
So, I’ve read all…Doggio, back when I was in Okinawa in the early 70’s, Coke-hai was an extremely popular drink. Pepsi wasn’t as popular but because I kinda consider them to be the same, no it isn’t at all jarring to hear them ordered in Asian restaurants.
I’m not on for long, we are both worn out. Yesterday, Ronald (widower of cousin) called to tell Hubs that cousin had passed away.
Ronald cannot drive and hubs heard traffic noises and asked Ronald where he was.
Ronald chased all of the family away a couple of days ago. He said he wanted some time alone to grieve and process. Before leaving, Gina (fellow pothead) double checked to be sure that he didn’t need anything at the store and he was positive he was fine.
Well, apparently this morning, Ronald thought he needed a few things and would walk to the store. Or their dog got out and he went after her, we still aren’t sure what happened, but we knew that he needed to be taken home.
Ronald didn’t know where he was and refused to call the police, so Hubs convinced him to knock on a door and ask whoever answered to talk to hubs. Happily the door opened and the woman who lived there was willing to talk to Hubs. He gave her the cliffnotes, asked that Ronald be allowed to sit on her porch until we got there and got her address.
Everything was settled until Hubs told her that we were a few hours away and asked if she could give Ronald some water while he waited and she thought that leaving a confused old man on her porch on such a hot day was the worse idea in the world, so she got Ronald’s address from Hubs and took him home.
We still needed to go and check up on Ronald so we could give his daughters an informed update, but weren’t as stressed when Ronald got home. Dog was in the yard with the gate closed.
I booked a room and called the neighbor to ask if her daughter could feed the fuzzbutts. Daughter sounded pretty happy to be making twenty bucks for opening a can and agreed to give them breakfast as well.
After we got Ronald settled (he had the things he could eat, he wanted to get some cream because his wife always wanted cream with her morning coffee), I took Hubs to our room and went to a farm stand I saw on our way and bought half a dozen ears of corn, some yellow tomatoes and pint of blueberries and a small rosemary plant, then went to the dollar store and bought a decorative serving bowl, tissue paper and a bow. I arranged the food into a gift basket, put a ribbon on it and took it to the nice lady who saved the day.
Of course she told me that “you didn’t need to do this!” and I agreed, but said I wanted to thank her for being so kind, and all of those words were said.
Hubs had all of the daughters in the loop and they were making plans (they had noticed that he wasn’t doing well, but had put it down to the stress and heartache). We watched some TV with Ronald - I had no idea that painting guy was still around - and then went to our room.
Today we checked in with Ronald again, he seemed to be doing better now that he had rested and one of the daughters (from Virginia) would be there by lunch, so we headed home.
Hubs wanted to take the scenic route and we stopped at The Secret Sandwich Society for lunch. The food was good (not great) the service was excellent and the drinks were tasty. (I had the Field Notes and he had the Birds of a Feather)
When next we are in the area, we will go the place with the best evah white garlic pizza instead. We stopped at the Kanawa Falls and listened to the water for a while and then came home. While we were following the river, I remembered shoe suggesting I buy some bait worms so we stopped at a convenience store and bought some very lucky nightcrawlers.
The worms are in the raised bed, the fuzzbutts have been fed and its time for me to go to head out to the shop and stitch. TTYL
