(Old) Getting back into your groove in the MMP

I’d encourage you to try them for church and the brunch. That is actually one of the things that hearing aids do best. I was pleasantly surprised how much my new hearing aids helped right off the bat in those situations. Use the restaurant or busy places or party setting if your aids offer that choice. My aids also allow me to choose between noise reduction and speech clarity. I’d use speech clarity in da church and brunching. I can’t wait to hear what you think. I just wish mine had a ‘soft grand children’s voices setting. Maybe the next version will.

Hubs loves that part. He can tune out a lot of the background noise and focus on people instead.

Swampy, pay attention to our beloved night nurse, she knows what she’s talking about!

I’ve just ordered a T-shirt. It is a black cat, drinking tea, with Japanese text: ‘The heart of the tea ceremony is tranquility. But my mind is chaos.’

ETA: Thanks to whoever it was in my 1966 Japanese men’s magazine thread who told me that my iPhone can translate Japanese text using the camera.

I took a short nap. I made stir fried tuna dn ‘shrooms with soba noodles and a salad. And a gin saketini.

Never done that. But:

  1. Maggie Wonderbeagle sitting on seat of pet char, Lucrezia D. Hellcatt on top of char. Cat hornks. On dog. Now I have to drag bath-phobic beagle into bathroom for a bath
  2. Lucrezia start doing the < hic hic hic > pre hornk noises. Maggie runs for treat, cat flees, human chase both through apartment.

VBC was always a snarf and barf kittah. GG thought that getting a hot meal was great.

Much excitement always ensued when the horking noises started. I didn’t really care about GG eating her warmed food, that’s how cats feed their kittens. It grossed Hubs out, so no warm pre-chewed fud for the big kitten.

Uncle Buck (1989) is playing on AMCHD. I’ve really liked him since SCTV. From what I’ve heard, he was a really nice guy. And he was a great actor. I always enjoy his movies, but damn. Forty-three is too young to die. :frowning:

Evening all. Finally did get to the gym then came home, loaded up the car and went to coach kids…and only one showed up, I guess Friday wasn’t a great choice (there was also rain clouds around, even if we didn’t get a drop). So went back to the gym for a few more calorie burns then had my Salad Bowl and then a bacon sammich just because I could (one nice thing about burning off calories is I can justify the occasional splurge). Inside now and no plans to do anything more active than get ready for bed.

BBBoo, now don’t be frettin’, I am sure that there is very nice scenery there and like you mention, most of the interstates are built to be straight and flat. Just never had much opportunity to see it, was always heading somewhere else. One of these days maybe I’ll give you an chance to show me.

Herald,

Show me to the faintin’ couch.

Possibly.

You youngn’s don’t know good music these days…  Thanks Dicey for posting it…and Pilot doing it so I could listen to it twice.

doggio, I still don’t know what 2/3 of the terms mean, but I grok it; things are FUBAR. And that’s on a good day.

FCM, sounds like a nice little trip to look forward too.

Pilot, that was quite the adventure. Glad you weren’t held longer than that. And a melancholy anniversary hug for your dearly departed first wife.

I concur.

flyboy, nice shirt.

And it’s late in the evening again, so need to finish up the day and head off to Slumberland. Take care all.

I really need a drink. A big one. Those Muslim parents who where choking their daughter have been acquitted of attempted murderl

Were they convicted of anything? (They’re in this state.)

I love that company. I’m hoping my nephews have bought me this one:

Booo sorry to disparage the middle of the country, I was just relating what I saw from I40.

{{{pilot}}} Many times over, my friend.

My brother just departed after a short visit. He is on night shift at work,(chances are if you order from LL Bean he had something to do with it) so setting out on a 6 hour drive at 7PM isn’t all that odd. Was good to see him, but I do feel bad he was here to visit an old friend (80years old-ish I think) in the, I’m not sure if it is to hospice yet, but from what my brother told me his friend is not doing well.

The father was charged with assault.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!

Spot is as well.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/62f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “That one guy says it’s partly sunny. He’s a fucking asshole.” Well, that’s the forecastat home, which is where we will end the day.

{{{{{Pilot}}}}} also, you had a big adventure in Berlin! We were lucky to be able to walk unhindered from east to west

Mooom happy doperversary!

Today’s report from the catsitter was that Muffin had left a little gift that she’s been able to mostly clean up. I told her not to worry about it as the carpet in Muffin’s room needs a proper clean so we will be getting the Vax on it later.

We have had breakfast, I had a shower and we’re having a cuppa before we get packed up and head to the airport. Flight is late afternoon so we will get a bit of lounge time beforehand and should hopefully be back home mid-evening.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 90 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for late afternoon. We shall see. I will be somewhat domesticated in the kitchen today. A cake with Eyetalian cream cheese frostin’ and a cabbage casserole will be made for first Sunday brunch. Baked chikin boobs, purple hull peas, squishes, fresh corn on the cob (except I will cut mine off the cob), fresh ‘maters, and rolls will be sup. YUM! The usual RDOS inactivities are planned as well.

BBBOO and JtC I shall heed the advice and wear the aids tomorrow. I haven’t messed with the various settin’s yet but will watch the tutorials again and read up on ‘em in the handy dandy guide. A full report will be given on the outcomes.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Would that be next to the “shut the door so the cat can’t get out” setting, or the “flush then wash your hands” setting? Ah, grandkids - the challenge of our old age.

swampy - just don’t hide your auxiliary ears in the bottom of a figurine. I think I mentioned that FIL did that and it was pure chance that MIL found them. Seems to me, them things are sneakier than keys when finding a place to hide.

Mel sure did his job last night. I took a mere 5mg and lay down with my latest trashy novel, and after trying to read the same paragraph 4 or 5 times, I figured it was sleepy time. Yep, it was. I don’t think I heard anything overnight, but I do feel like a functioning adult this morning, for what that’s worth!

If FCD feels up to it, we’ll be going to Daughter’s to help hang a TV in the kids’ clubhouse. He’s been coughing less - or I should say there are longer spans between the fits, but it still sounds like his lungs will come up. It had to have been a gift from someone on the ship. Anyway, I hope it passes fast - poor guy can’t get a solid sleep because of it.

No other plans so far, but it’s early. I do think I’ll make ham and bean soup for supper. And I may ride John Deere around the back yard if the grass is dry enough. Or maybe wait till tomorrow. And we’ve got a week of 60s at night and mid-80s during the day which will be enjoyable.

For now, caffeination continues. Happy Saturday!!

I don’t know why it’s all one quote, but anyways… Taters, I went out once with MusicMan in his big truck and it was quite the adventure that I did NOT want to repeat. It was before he had a CPAP to treat his sleep apnea and he was sleep driving along the way. Ugh.

{{{pilot}}} and thank you again for such kind words.

Happy Friday, doggio!

I’ve been up since 4 with an attempt at going back to sleep for about an hour. Not sure what’s going on today. I do need to sort through the gigantic amount of information from the past couple days. Otherwise, just glad that MusicMan doesn’t have to work.

Google says it came out in 1980. If it wasn’t country or classical, I didn’t listen to it.

Mornin’ all - about 8am as I start to drivel. Been up about an hour, missed sunrise by that much. Utterly clear day, not even a wisp of cloud. NWS sez 78/26 now on the way to 95/35 with a heat advisory until sunset. Been caffinatin’ indoors since it’s hard to type with the low sun blasting full power into your face.

Thanks to one and all for the hugs and kind words. I stumbled on that song yesterday searching for the other one and … well … it got kinda sad around here. Y’all really helped me through a rough patch.

GF got home last night, so her recovery can begin. Not sure yet when / where / how much I slot into that. Obviously my choices would be: now, here, lots. We’ll see.

As to y’all …

Great shirt.

Oops. Not bad for 65 kids. :man_facepalming:

That’s a neat one too. Even better for having English (Catlish?) subtitles.

The father was convicted of assault and false imprisonment. Both parents were charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment, and assault. Of the 6 charges, father was found guilty of 2, and the mother of none.

You’re reputation as the lead RDOS is in danger after that concentrated burst of domestic energy. I can’t see much spare time for RDOSing after all that. But both the church food and the sup does sound wonderful.

Speaking of t-shirts, I think maybe all oldsters should be given one that reads “Just don’t hide …”. It doesn’t matter what it is, or where you are. Hiding it is the wrong thing to do. Late Aged MIL was into that, and GF reports her Mom too, so I’m freshly reminded of that very bad habit.

And hooray for good sleeps and lots of them, with or without Mel’s help. Good luck with what’s left of FCD’s lungs. Hope he doesn’t have a coughing fit at an inopportune moment during the TV hanging.

In the new no-preview A mode editor, when you quote somebody it leaves the typing cursor inside the quote at the end, not just below the quote. So if you’re not careful you’ll end up typing your next words inside their quote.

Likewise, if you quote one bit from one post then another bit from another post without going back to your post to move the typing cursor, the second quote ends up tacked onto the end, but inside, the first quote. Which gives nested quotes. You almost certainly fell for that trap.

And as to everyone, I gotta say y’all make pet ownership sound like sooo much fun. Yes, I know there are offsetting benefits. But jeez.

Quoting myself from a couple days ago:

In another unexpected Baader-Meinhof moment my morning news feed tells me that one of their founders, Horst Mahler, died yesterday. Good riddance. With luck they’ll go back to not being top of mind for awhile.

Welp, I’ve had my 45 minutes of MMP for the morning. Time to shevel, feed, beach, nap, whatever. All y’all go forth into a happy weekend! Even if doggio’s doesn’t start for a few more hours yet.

Cheers!

Don’t hide what, where?
