(Old) Getting back into your groove in the MMP

How high’s the water, Mama?
Five feet high and rising.

Probably their fault in the first place.

Brrr…Hope everyone is safe from tsunamis.

Yes, I said that in an email to Izzy and her mother: “Americans like to nibble and graze all day long.”

No, ten months! The entire school year, including winter break. I got the products today, plus a set of sheets (peach, which will go nicely with the brown duvet in the guest room) and towels (lavender). And a new mattress pad, because I discovered that the old one is fairly shredded underneath. Also, I’ve been polishing the very thirsty furniture. It won’t look like new when I’m done, but it won’t look so forlorn. As for pepperoni rolls, I’ve already been voluntold to bring those to the Labor Day gathering, so she’ll have one then, if not before. I don’t think I know anyone with paw-paws, but I’ve never asked.

Alice is a perfect Mumper name! TYSM.

That is an issue. It’s less so if you use cream in the sauce, but still… An easy solution is to just put in more parmesan.

We didn’t hang a banner. Someone from Friday’s banner-hanging was ‘warned’ by the State Patrol for the protest. He cited a law (which I don’t have at hand), but it doesn’t apply. Anyway, we didn’t hang any banners. One group of us held a banner that said ‘Protect the Constitution’, and we had ‘8/5’ and ‘VOTE’.

And now it’s 21:00. I need to think about climbing into my rack so I can start irking at 0600.

Deal. May I make my reservation so I can get there in time for us to have brunch at Tudors World of Biscuits?

At least one of the kitties does laps, right? At this moment my meezer is literally licking my cleavage* so I’ll tolerate just about any feline demand.

…*Im guessing that given our heat index was 111 today that area is probably pretty tasty with her human servant’s dried sweat.

and I hope to get to drink coffee with Harry over the fence so we can talk Southern Flying Squirrels.

swampie, now you are a year older thatn me. Until NYE anyway. Did you have cake?

you are more than welcome to show up disheveled on my doorstep but be warned my front porch is more disheveled than you could ever be. Be sure to bring your book of cocktail recipes and your kit of bitters.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

That I could do.

Good morning! I have, in fact, read it all, but retained a minimum amount.

Yesterday was stupid and painful. They installed a temporary crown. Since it was my very last tooth in the back of my mouth, it involved much pain and shredding of my lips and the inside of my cheek. And for the pleasure as such, they charged me $1500. I’m afraid to see how much the permanent crown will cost. I am going to ask in advance. I mean honestly, though, if all this happens again, I’m going to strongly suggest that they just pull the damn tooth. So far I’m $3400 in debt (thank god for credit cards). Yuck.

In better news, today is my first day of work. We have two days of training for newbies and I believe we have Friday off. So wish me luck that I can channel my inner tech genius and not make any major mistakes.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 94, mostly cloudy and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this evenin’. We shall see. The big items on today’s agenda are to get shorn (we be shaggy) and to procure provisions. Fortunately, both places are in the same shoppin’ center. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities.

CupCakes OYKW made me a cheesecake. YUM!

JtC and doggio it is amazin’ to hear sounds I haven’t heard in a long while. I’ll wear ‘em a couple of hours again today while in da cave. Makes sense to me to follow the six week plan to gradually adjust to wearin’ ‘em. They can be turned off, so that is the ignore mode. “I can’t hear you. The dang battery must be dead.”

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I should purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Le sigh.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I was leery at potlucks because I knew some women didn’t wash their hands after using the potty at work (can’t speak for the men) which made their home hygiene suspect also. At one point, I just quit participating altogether.

Have you got a particularly obnoxious alarm sound on your phone to drag your attention away from your needlework? It’s got to be really annoying and you need to set the phone far enough away that you need to walk to it. Follow me for more tips!

I believe that’s the “Off” position.

Not to mention showing up at swampy’s for vittles and ceemint pond time!

I woke to find FCD’s big pillow missing, along with him. He moved himself to the guest room, I assume so that he didn’t disturb me with his coughing. Poor guy is a mess. But near as I can tell, the coughing is less this morning. In fact, he just dragged himself out of bed, so I shall make him some breakfast shortly.

Harris Teeter has a sale on the root beer he likes, so I’ll be heading there today. Not sure what else is in store - apart from lots of heat. Stoopit summer.

Off to the kitchen with me. Happy Wednesday!!

Morning all. For the third day in a row my bladder let me sleep through the night, don’t think I’m doing anything different, maybe a little less fluid intake, but not complaining. Not much on the schedule, should be a quiet day, albeit there is a 1-in-3 chance of rain according to the Weather Wizards.

Apparently didn’t post a late-night final, so lots of reading to do Onward…

Hopefully everybody stayed dry from the Tsunami.

JtC, hope the rotator cuff hurt isn’t too bad, I hear about them in sports injuries, didn’t know us common folks are susceptible to them.

Truth (just finished a 100-calorie pack of pretzel sticks…)

Sticky Buns, Ouch! for both your mouth and your wallet. And hope work is going well.

swampy, yeah, the things you hear (like the ticking of my ‘vacation’ alarm clock) and the car radio settings being 3-4 steps quieter are noticeable at first, but you get used to them. Mine are in most of the day and I hardly notice them anymore. One note, do any preventive maintenance as recommended, keep them clean and charged and all will be well.

FCM, hope FCD keeps feeling better, and root beer makes any day better.

And onward into Hump Day. Have a good one all.

Teeter advertised the root beer at 3/$15. They had 2 cartons in stock. FALSE ADVERTISING!!! < shakes angry little fist in the air > The sale is valid thru 8/12 and Daughter shops there, so I asked her to be on the lookout. With luck, she can get a few more cartons for us. Considering it’s $9 at Food Lion, this is a good sale.

I need to get some ammonia and clean the inside of my windshield. The spray I bought brags it’s ammonia-free - I didn’t notice that when I bought it. It didn’t clean the glass well at all. So, off to clean it properly.

we are hopefully at the end of the 5th heat wave this year in philly. it is artic in the office. very aggravating. we don’t control our own weather in the office. a service requisition had to be made. the office spaces are controlled by some mythical computerized hvac thing. i will be swapping my jacket for a sweater soon.

tomorrow should be stormy and usher in a nice little stretch of non-humid days.

Good morning!

It’s 64°F, and sunny, with about 70% humidity. It’ll be mostly sunny today, with a high temperature of 89°F and 46% humidity.

Our tsunami warning has been downgraded to an advisory, and it appears not to affect the inner Puget Sound region now, too.

It was dang hot yesterday, and even hotter for those poor guys on my roof. When I went out to check my mail, they were on a break, and their superintendent was there. They were apologizing for taking a longer break, but I understood how hot it was on that roof. I’d rather they stay safe and hydrated. Speaking of which, I was up again in the dark this morning so I could go to the grocery store and get more refreshments for the crew. They seem to appreciate them. I have lemonade, Sprite, water, and apples in the cooler, along with chewy granola bars and cookies next to the cooler. They go through the snacks, and that’s what they’re for.

They should be wrapping up today, and then we’ll be contacted about gutter installation, which is hopefully next week. Speaking of which, it appears they have just arrived.

Susan, yay for good news and results at the doc!

Swampy, yay for better hearing. I wish I could convince my husband to get some!

Alrighty, I need more coffee, especially since my coffee time didn’t get to start until later. You all have a good day, stay cool, and stay safe!

taters, sooooo glad to hear from you that you’re ok and the tsunami warning has been downgraded!

we wuz worried about you~now we just need to hear from flyboy. Hopefully it is the same for him.

Thank you for letting us know and I bet your roofing crew has already voted you “Best Customer Ever”.

Probably fine–Vancouver Island is in the way.

It’s an advisory for our whole coastline now. His area would have seen much more wave action than further south where I am located, had there been anything to see since he’s up there by the straits.

Also good to know, thanks!

I was under a flash flood watch last night, but only for thunderstorms and my house is not in a flood plain so tsunamis are pretty far out of my toolbox.

And thanks too to taters for the detailed update. I know his house is pretty close to the beach.

Most of us are better hosts than that. You won’t have to pre-game, we’ll see to it that you leave drunk and disheveled ourselves!

May it continue to be successful!

Oh my. Of course she won’t be packing a years supply, you are absolutely right about that.

Do you have hummingbird feeders up? If not, consider it - there are no hummingbirds in Europe.

Also, BBB reminded me to about the super adorable flying squirrels that live in parts of our beautiful state. If you learn of a colony, go and sit quietly for a while and sometimes you will be rewarded by one peeking out of its nest with those cute big eyes.

If you see one at night, you will know right away that you aren’t watching a bat fly, but don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

They are making a lot of stuff up now. We’ve been threatened with vague and not applicable laws as well. Not so much the capital crowd, but I hear things have gotten really dicey up around Morgantown and the colleges.

DEAL! But we will want to eat early so we can make it to Shoney’s for supper.

Absolutely, your brain needs to remember how to process all of those sounds again!

That too. I like feeding people so I always brought something. (Then I’d go out to my car and smoke as much weed as possible for half an hour before going back in and grabbing my empty platter.)

I sure do hope FCD starts feeling better now that he is home and can rest.

Most of us common folks don’t actively tear the tendons, we just repeat the same motion over and over which causes damage. If you catch a repetitive motion injury soon enough you can usually recover with focused exercises and stretching. Or at least that is my hope!

Well, the line crew is now outside our yard and doing fascinating things. Jolene is relaxing in her armchair in front of the glass door and I saw a couple of vehicle passengers pointing in her direction. Not sure if they could see her or were admiring the feeding frenzy at the hummer feeders.

Picture needed. Right now!
