(Old) Getting caught off-guard n the MMP

Quoted all of youse cause I wanted you to know I was paying attention. I kinda doubt it is just something in the air because it doesn’t happen to the birdbath by the mulberry, only the one by the pomegranate.

Pomegranates must don’t drop sap like pines do and it isn’t blooming so no pollen. I did move it a few feet away and gave it a good scrubbing.

Which should make the process a little easier. It allows you to tell TPTB how proud you are of them.

Happy Birthday overlygirl.

HURRAY!!! Good job, go you!!! I’m so happy you looked for other options, 5k is a big bite no matter who you are.

That would be perfect for his situation. I had forgotten that he was on dialysis, thankfully the government has additional help available for him. I really hope it works out.

Besides the birdbath mystery, I’m also wondering if the pomegranates will finish ripening before they freeze. I know I planted it for the flowers, but there are about a dozen fruits that are just turning colors and now it is getting cold enough for all of the deciduous trees to start turning colors and dropping leaves. the pomegranate bush itself is about a quarter bright yellow now.

I’m biting my tongue typing fingers.

Ack! Church member, CHURCH MEMBER!!

In the middle of the night, Ms. Dog had a gigantic, blow-the-windows-out sneeze that startled me awake. Her, too. She looked at me like, “Oh, my Dog, I think I just exploded!”

Skip this if you’ve had too much whining today. Holy frick, I hurt all over. I can hardly bend the right knee, but that’s to be expected. My hands hurt–shades of lupus past. My feet hurt. Even my shoulders hurt. To quote Bulldog Briscoe on Frazer, This stinks! This is total BS!

We did go for a walk this afternoon, albeit my knee was rather stiff. We watched as 29 ducks waddled across the street, stalling traffic. And then…“Quack! Quack! Quack!” There was Maynard, the kid who got picked last in gym, hurrying to catch up, He got halfway across the street when the rest of the flock flew bsck. I felt so sorry for him, I wanted to yell, “Maynard, you’re my favorite duck!”

I have to pass this on…My sister’s daughter and grandson were visiting her, and my sister, not wanting to use a bad word in front of her grandson, decided to spell it out. She spelled out the wrong part: “He’s a real assh-o-l-e.” Her grandson, who’s just learning to read, said, “What’s holy?”

I now have a new term for people who are jerks in a holier-than-thou way.

shady, I swear you live in a three-ring-circus with no ringmaster. Hang in there.

BooFae, I love taking trains, too! The Portland station is really cool because it’s so old.For instance, there’s an anteroom in the Ladies’ in case you get an attack of the vapors or perhaps have a little too much Lydia Pinkham (18% alcohol and cured what ailed you). Have you been to the King Street Station in Seattle? It has to be one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. There’s a little art gallery on the third floor that’s worth a trip.

*FCM, * I’m vastly relieved that BIL will get the care he needs and that it won’t be on your and FCD’s shoulders. Also, are you the Tobias whisperer? You seem to have a knack for getting him to sleep.

*Waves entushiastically at MetalMouse!

So… Something about Thy rod and They staff?

Evening all. Since my last missive I have skipped the formal dining and ate at the buffet, lost $75 at Blackjack and was minor assistance to the group at trivia. Have organized for tomorrow since it’s another early start so will maximize sleepage. More riding than walking tomorrow I think but still hot and humid.

real fish, glad you things are going better for your dad and sometimes you need to administer some tough love.

nellie, happy for your sight being better, now if those aches and pains would go away…

OK, need to get the battery charged up, it’s at 56 percent and I don’t like it that low. Take care all.

Nellie, great eye news!

I guess you could say I was caught off guard by this week’s MMP, as I totally forgot yesterday was Monday and didn’t look for the new one.

Was distracted by a last-minute job offer yesterday, then had a bit of a Planes, Trains, and Automobiles kind of day getting my ass to South Carolina on a day’s notice. Too tired to tell the story right now; perhaps tomorrow.

So Spot decided to sleep with me, which led to…
Dreaming: < twitches > “Duchess, let us leave the primates behind and go to the South of France
Grooming my head: “Oh, stop complaining, I’m keeping your magey scalp clean.
Grooming his nads while using my head as a prop: < slurp > < rocks back and forth > < slurp > < rocks back and forth > < slurp > < rocks back and forth >
At least the Manhattan was good.

Damn skippy!

[George Takei]Ohhh myyyyyyyyyyyyy![/George Takei]

Well, you’re here now, and you have gainful employment. Win win.

Happy Sunday!

No park today, Petey wasn’t going and it was cold outside.
I went to bed early last night since I wasn’t feeling well. I turned up the heat in my bedroom and took a gabapentin, and got a good night’s sleep.

Mystery solved today.
The walk-in tub has been a challenge to clean. Parts of the tub have a purplish cast to it that won’t come off. My son had asked me if I had a sand paper ass because he thought the finish was wearing off on the seat. Of course, that wouldn’t explain the other spots. Richard tried cleaning it and couldn’t get the stains out. He suggested it might be hair dye, but neither my son nor I color our hair.
Then I remembered, Niece2 had given me purple shampoo because my hair can look a little brassy. I looked it up and purple shampoo can stain a tub.

Happy Toosday!

Couldn’t finish Sunday.
I wanted to post last night, but MIsiu fell asleep on my feet and wouldn’t get up. I had to slide my feet out from under him and rather than step over him to go to the family room, I decided to go straight to bed.
Yesterday was a busy day, we finally made the dump runs and got rid of everything in two trips.

Much excitement, of the wrong kind, today.
Petey dad was late to the park because he woke up to 6 police cars and ATF agents in front of his house. They were raiding one of the neighbor’s houses and they wanted copies from his outside cameras.
A little bit later, Charles and his dad came in. We like them, but Charles used to be a bait dog and he has some quirks. I have to watch Echo around him, they have some issues with each other. The dad was not doing well, he just had three family members killed in an accident, and we think one of them was his mother. Not sure, because he was a little hard to understand. He was a bit of a mess.
I suppose that is what made him short tempered?
So, another man pulled up with is dog and Petey dad said it’s time to leave, this guy is a real asshole.
Of course, nobody got up to leave.
Asshole man comes in with his dog, and my dogs were crowding the gate. They aren’t doing anything wrong really, Echo will sniff and leave, she doesn’t pull her shit unless the dog gets too close to me. The GR are harmless. The crowd a bit, but all they are doing is sniffing. Asshole yelled something about getting the dogs away from his dog. I don’t know why. Echo was already coming back to me and the GR were just following his dog. By then though, Charles had headed up that way. Asshole yelled something again, something about a dog trying to bite his dog. I didn’t know which dog he was referring to, one of mine or Charles.
The next thing I know, Charles dad is yelling back, and it started, the two of them yelling back and forth at each other, lots of FUs, FOs, SMDs, verbally going at it. Asshole stopped coming towards the pavilion, and went over to one of the benches. I thought he was going to sit over there to stay away from us, but no, he took off his coat and started stomping over the Charles dad wanting to fight. Barly/Humpy mom got up between them and said, come on guys, it’s the dog park, we don’t need this here, everybody cool off. Then Charles dad pulled out a knife and she thought maybe she ought to get out of there. When Asshole saw the knife, he headed back up to his van to get, we weren’t sure if he said bat or gun. Whichever, I thought oh great, we’re just sitting here minding our own business and we’re all going to get killed by some crazy guy. Petey dad recorded everything on his phone.
Finally, Asshole got his dog and left. Charles and dad left.
Then we left.
One thing I noted, the whole time the two guys were having their pissing contest, their dogs were having the best time playing together.
Dad’s over there about to get the crap kicked out of him, but we don’t care.

Recently, Buddy’s gotten bolder about keeping me company while I’m in the tub, and does have a tendency to start rather firmly washing my arm, as if he thinks I need to be taught the correct method of cleaning myself.

Today, a couple of goofy moments: when he let his tail fall into the water (about half the length was below the surface), and when I was getting out and bent down to kiss the top of his head he licked my cheek.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave n’ slide.

< SIGH > “*I have to teach the weird, bald kittens everything.” - Buddy

Are you sure you’re not taking the dogs to a redneck dive bar on a Saturday night? The Millbrook dogpark is so much quieter(apart from 2 Border Collies trying to herd a Standard Poodle).

and what about the BOYS???

I dosed myself with generic nyquil last night but still slept on and off. And least it stopped most of the nasal drippage. I feel hung over this morning, hoping Tobias will entertain himself today. I fear it’s gonna be a long day.

FCD arranged the flights for Texas SIL next month. He’ll have to pick her up and drop her off since she’s flying on Tuesdays and I’ll have the kid. But it’ll be at BWI, which is slightly farther but lots easier to deal with than National. That leaves me about 3 weeks to ready the guest room, which has become a walk-in closet of sorts. Mainly, I need to find homes for my yarn. But that can all wait till after Turkey Day.

I’ll be smoking the smaller turkey tomorrow, since the weather is supposed to be relatively mild. That’s as far ahead as I can plan for the moment. I don’t think there’s enough caffeine to charge up me today.

Happy Wednesday anyway…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and soon to be rainin’ with a predicted high of 58 and rain for the day. I think we shall hold off on procurin’ provisions today. We don’t need much, so mayhaps a run to the Food Kitty after I take care of church duties tomorrow will suffice. We even have most of what we will need for Turkey Day. Inside and dry sounds like a good plan today. Sup shall be leftovers from Moanday, so that’ll be easy.

Flyboy, doggio, and A such dirty minds! I admire that in people.

Wheelie yay for gainful employment. We look forward to a tale of travel woes.

sari YIKES! Those idiots could learn a lesson from their doggos!

RealFish glad things are goin’ better for dad. Here’s hopin’ that he can get home health services.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/49f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “At least it’s not fucking snowing. Ain’t I a little fucking ball of sunshine? Go stuff it up your ass.” Sounds like Weather App is grumpy today!

Mooom I’m glad to hear BIL has committed himself, hopefully that will be a huge weight off everyone’s shoulders.

metalmouse glad you have made it through the Canal, hope you’re enjoying the trip!

doggio we just quietly wish you a pleasant day celebrating your peculiarities

Taters getting photographed with the govt celebs now? Can I have your autograph?

sari sounds like a scary day at the dog park, glad those guys went their separate ways before things got out of hand.

nellie hurrah for good eye news!

Swampy sorry to hear about the church lady, I am sure you will give her a good send-off.

RealFish I’m glad things are looking up for your dad, and there’s a chance he can get some home help which will take a lot of worry away from you.

Well, we have been on strike for two days, and today is a “proper” day off for me. I was meant to be at a gig last night but it got cancelled as the headline band’s singer has a chest infection and has had to cancel four shows. I ended up staying at home and messaging one of the guys from the support band as he’s having some mental health problems so we chatted for a bit instead.

No big plans for today, I should be going out with a couple of friends tonight but haven’t heard from them yet so don’t know for certain if it’s on or not. 'im indoors is possibly coming home today although he messaged this morning to say his mum wasn’t feeling too good so he hadn’t left her place yet. Anyway, he is perfectly capable of getting himself home, and it’s up t him if he wants to stay another day up there.

It’s almost lunchtime so I really should consider what to do for food, and the mogs will be demanding their next lot of food too. This afternoon I may wrap hexmas presents so that I can dispose of Da Jungle’s box and get that out of my way.

Good morning.

It’s 37F and cloudy outside. We’ll have possible showers in the morning, and partly cloudy skies in the afternoon with a high temp of 47F.

realfish, I’m glad things are going better for your Dad.

sari, that dog park just seems to become worse and worse. What a shame it’s the people that cause so much drama.

wheelie, I’m glad to read about the employment news and look forward to the story when you have time.

metal mouse, it sounds like you’re having a nice time!

Work kept me busy as usual, and today promises to be even more hectic. But I work from home, so that’s a good thing.

The new pups are receiving their first shots this coming Monday, but I still don’t know when we get to pick them up. I hope it’s the day before Thanksgiving. I can switch my in-office day to that day and can just pick them up on the way home from work.

I was up before 3:00 a.m. and downstairs by 3:30. I have been cruising the internet, and had to reset my modem and router because I lost connectivity just as Swampy was posting his usual morning greeting. I’ve got the dishwasher unloaded, and when I finish my coffee, I’ll load it again, and wash the pots and pans. I’ve also already taken the kitchen garbage and recycling to the big cans. I’ve been productive already!

Okay, time to go for now. My best to all of you.

FCM, I hope your day with Tobias is easy and that you are back to 100% soon.

How caught off-guard am I? I’m just tuning into MMP on Wednesday. Yesterday I checked my schedule for the January semester and yikes! I’d forgotten I’d offered to teach a class at 8:30 am! What was I thinking? Was I thinking?

Morning all. Having breakfast while waiting for the ship to dock, we’re a little behind schedule for today. This and a excursion two days from now will complete the port calls for the trip, so still lots of days looking at water left.

Sari, glad no one was hurt, hope things settle down there.

Have a nice strike, boo fae.

doggio and nettie, remember you chose to have pets… :grinning:

OK, bacon assimilating and juice glass is on empty so will wander out on the deck to see how hot it will be today. Take care all.

His psychiatrist doesn’t think he should be driving any more either, which is a good thing. He’s a very nervous driver, and he’ll go the long way around to avoid a left hand turn. Yeah, best get him off the road.

Thanks - me too! My voice is gravely this morning, but at least my nose isn’t running as badly. The steamy shower helped, but a good sleep would help more. Wonder if I can convince the boy that we need to nap for 3 or 4 hours???

Could be worse - could be 7:30… (memories of my 7:30 Chem lab… < shudder > )

MetalMouse - did the canal passage last overnight?

Waiting to hear from SIL - I need to start a fire downstairs to warm things up, since it was 34° out there this morning. It won’t be quite that cold in the basement, but it won’t be as warm as upstairs either. Guess I should mosey down there.
