Did some walking on the ship, and around Skagway and Ketchikan. Then no walking for two weeks because we had COVID (except for half a mile with Wifey on the 1st). Then I just didn’t feel like walking. Finally, I got out today for two and a half miles (π miles) down the beach and back. Only made 2.9 mph.
Howdy Y’all! Fancy chikin sallit got made. Then major sloth mode set in. Majik intartoobz pizza and sallit have also been et. Today’s day drinkin’ was martinis with blue cheeze stuffded olives. A drink and a snack! Now I feel the urge for Netflix and chill.
Oh, fun: had an optical migraine. Thought it was over, then discovered I couldn’t talk right (aphasia), which is very alarming. It’s sort of like a mini-stroke. Too much time in front of the computer, I’m thinking. I’ve dimmed the screen, which should help a bit.
@Chefguy, talk to your doctor! Aphasia is definitely not trivial!
As for migraine-related issues, I find Midol works well, and I’ve known others who agreed.
Afternoon all. Sorry I missed posting this morning, had to keep moving to catch my tour (5 hours of bus riding then walking and rowboating in crocodile infested waters–with iguanas and deer on land. Back now and will emulate shoe by showering before dinner so I’m nice and fresh out among company. Next three days will all be at sea, next port is LA on Tuesday morning so lots of sloth time.
Shoe, hope tree is still standing and the trimmers get to it first.
Boo fae, hope lunch was good… once I got on board the ship I got French fries, a chocolate ice cream cone and a diet coke, just because I could.
Swampy, it’s always good to cruise with friends; one reason I do it so much is one of them organized these for a group of us and he tried to find interesting places to go (he’s talking about a river cruise next year on the Danube)
Taters, I mowed my lawn on 3 November before starting this trip and hope it was the last time this year.
FCM, OUCH!!! Feel better soon.
Ok, need to take that shower and start preparing for dinner. Take care all.
New Orleans?
MetalMouse - which cruise line are you on?
I’ve hobbled around including a trek to the mailbox. Bending my right knee while walking is the most painful. I’m icing it again, alternatively straight and flexed. Next dose of ibuprofen in about an hour. I hate this. Stoopit gravity causing me to fall…
Today while I was wrapping up at the golf store two UPS dudes walked in. One had a blue vest. I felt like such an insider as the yellow vest guy was explaining to the blue vest guy about how this place is an every day pick-up, yada yada, etc. Then, having delivered nothing and picked up nothing, they hopped back in their parcel car and zoomed off, with the blueberry riding shotgun.
Jeez FCM don’t end up needing knee replacements this winter instead of an Antarctic cruise. Poor BIL too. But he’s by far the least sympathetic performer in this whole drama.

but if that chunk fell on me, I’d be a squished greasy spot.
Lumberjack is just about the most dangerous occupation left.
Cookie: Ocular / visual migraines are definitely weird experiences. Aphasia is not a common co-occurrence. Unless you have prior experience with aphasia I’d definitely be seeking a neurological follow-up ASAP.
ETA: I see below that you’ve gone around this bush before. Makes me a lot less concerned for you.
I very occasionally get scintillating scotomas, but never with pain or other follow-on. Probably been 3 or 4 years since my last one.

talk to your doctor! Aphasia is definitely not trivial!
It’s happened before and I don’t have lasting effects, AFAIK. Also, I don’t have pain, just aura.

The first time it happened, several years ago, I went to the ER because I thought I’d had a TIA or minor stroke. The MRI and EKG were negative.

I haz a confused. What does blueberry mean in the context of place of employment?
A temp in a blue uniform smock / shirt.
Ouch Mooooooom. I hope that your bumps and bruises heal quickly.
I hope that your migraine goes away soonest cookie.
The apartment is clean, laundry done and groceries for the next two weeks bought. I have no plans to be in any kind of store on Thanksgiving weekend, so I bought enough for a couple of weeks with a stop for fresh produce after irk (1/2 day) Wedensday.
Tomorrow, SIL and I will point the car south for a ramble. We tend to have some quality girl time and solve world problems while checking out some interesting places.
Supper was of the stoner variety and Nelson even got a pup cup!
I wanted to go to Paso del Norte for carne asada last week, but SWMBO wanted to go to Gateway 1890 Taphouse & Grill. I reasonably thought I’d get my carne asada tonight, but SWMBO wanted to go to Gateway 1890’s Speakeasy. They don’t have the full menu down there, so I had the chicken-fried-chicken chicken Schnitzel again. But I did get a Hemingway daiquiri – twice the rum, and no sugar. (I had a Manhattan first, since I didn’t know about the Hemingway daiquiri.)
Evening all. Dinner has been dined upon and our group won the nights trivia contest so retiring early as it’s storming outside.
Flyboy, actually Los Angeles. And FCM, onboard Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas.
FCM, try resting the knee some, mine still lets me know it’s there but is much better after a day or so rest.
Night all.

Flyboy, actually Los Angeles.
Ah. L.A., not LA!
I hope you didn’t get COVID, like we did on our Alaska cruise.

I’m thinking that they’re looking for a reason to get rid of her, given this is her first month there.
Yeah, that’s just not a very good look for a noob. Especially the cursing out a co-worker part. Geeze.

I saw the lady who works in the Education Cafe where we go for lunch, had a nice chat with her, and she said she’d make sure there were a couple of jacket spuds put aside for us. How fab is that?
It’s always good to have friend in high places!
I am enjoying poking around and looking at the food items. Is UK milk processed like in OZ or the US? The different milks make totally different chocolates and I tend to like the OZ chocies better.

Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza
We did the closest thing possible and got a “take and bake” pizza from the new place. It was pretty good, I hope they last longer than the last place.

She did stop barking right after I left, according to neighbor. I ut two throw rugs together and cover them with her bunched-up favorite quilt. I’m pretty sure she sleeps. Still hard on ME, though!
When we leave, we can hear GG wailing half way down the driveway. If one of us realizes we forgot something so we turn right around and come back…we catch him curling up with VBC for a nap. (He doesn’t bother trying to guilt us the second time we leave.)
I so sorry for your friend, and for you.

On the plus side, maybe it’ll hasten his placement in a controlled environment where people know how to deal with him?
Sadly, forcing someone to stay in places like that is almost impossible, there are so many legal issues involved. I really hope things work out for everyone soon.

We were going to wait until Monday to pick up T-day ingredients, but decided to do it this morning.
Hubs was going to wait until Monday as well but I convinced him that he would be happier going today. He had planned to take him time and walk all of the aisles like usual, but today he got less than half way through and said F this, what do I absolutely have to get.

Stoopit gravity causing me to fall…
There otta be a law!

The first time it happened, several years ago, I went to the ER because I thought I’d had a TIA or minor stroke.
This is VERY common, they can be really scary. Happily for me, I learned about them when I was working for the Ophthalmologist so when I got my first one I knew what was happening and actually enjoyed it. For about 5 minutes and then I got bored because I couldn’t see to do anything. I lose my words after having one fairly often and while I don’t get the horrible pain, I get washed out and jet-lagged feeling.
I’ve come to like olives with feta cheese in them.

This whole vignette made me smile.

He’s just saying, “Goodbye! Drive safe!”
Otherwise? I’m done. I’ll try to stay civil, this not being the Pit and all, but … my two most useless co-workers (the ones who do a fantastic job sitting on their butts on their phones) are on my absolute shit list.
I’m still mad about the details, and I don’t know what to do about it. I don’t feel like being a tattletale or throwing my coworkers under the bus, and I’m about 56.8% sure Sweet Manager knows at least most of it, but … dammit, I’m frustrated!!

I’ve come to like olives with feta cheese in them.
We always have a jar of these in the fridge. But we get them for 11 bucks a bottle, not 30 something.
During the worse of the shutdowns, hubs had a few bottles shipped and they all got broken on the way but for some stoopid reason UPS still felt obligated to make their poor driver load that stinky and well fermented box into the back of his truck and drive it over an hour just so we could take pics or something.

I’m still mad about the details, and I don’t know what to do about it.
I’d probably just smoke a bunch of weed and think about it over night.
You probably don’t want to think about this…but if someone were to accidently pick up a personal belonging (maybe a hat or glove) of one of the jerks and drop it by the other jerk’s car, while letting the air out of a tire (for best results, tuck it under the front of the going to be flat tire and the rubber will hold it down so the wind doesn’t catch it)…interesting things might happen…
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!

Although if they have Blueberries running as driver helpers, they must be in desperate need of help down your way.

Probably got broken while being violently heavedgently placed in the package car. If it was leaking prior to that, it would have been routed to Hazmat.

I’m still mad about the details, and I don’t know what to do about it.
Deep fry them? But if Sweet Manager knows, hopefully they’ll be promoted to customer quickly.

When we leave, we can hear GG wailing half way down the driveway.
Spot is silent when I leave. He does however do his best “I am a tiny and abandoned 6 week old kitten” meow when I come home( still gives me a giggle, since he is not tiny).
I have a good chunk of cash savings over and above my minimum emergency fund, and I’m thinking about applying it to my mortgage. (My rate is 6%, which I think makes it at least comparable to investing it.)
Trouble is, I tend to hoard cash. Intellectually, I know that I’m losing out on big opportunity just holding when I have no solid plans for big purchases anytime soon, but some part of my animal brain just looks at the account balance and just screams, “Money gone! Aaaa!”, like I’m a dog without object permanence. Trying to get my head in the right space.
Last night, I dreamed FCD had a winning lottery ticket for $100k and we decided to upgrade our flights to/from South America to first class! What a bummer to wake to Premium Economy after all. Dammit.
Despite the knee, I did sleep almost uninterrupted. We’ll see what happens when I try to stand. Not just yet, tho. I’m comfy and warm. I may or may not go erranding with FCD today. We talked about going for breakfast, too. So we shall see.
Happy Saturday!
