(Old) Getting Organised in the MMP

Me too.

That’s my girl!

I hope you enjoy the baked spaghetti and garlic bread. That will almost be like dinner at FCM’s house.

Howdy Y’all! We had much fun out by the cee-mint pond. JDD and Partner brought a bottle of champale (cause they saw it, got the giggles, and just had to buy, and this is why we are all such good friends) and plastic champagne flutes. Champale is still nasty, but fun to drink out of plastic champagne flutes. Needless to say much silliness ensued. They left around three. We came inside and showered and now are in chillax mode.

MetalMouse have fun at the zoo and have fun refereein’.

Pilot excess serenity is indeed my chief complaint about today.

Sticky_Buns hope everything works out for the best.

Coppertone perhaps you have given Pilot a goal; to baconate whilst balconatin’.

doggio that orange shag rug was goin’ to look so good as an accent wall in the guest library! Now you say it’s all ruined! SOB

Nellie I am sure I haven’t mentioned this, but the wives have moved up to the hometown of one of them, a little town northwest of Chattanooga, TN in a desire to be nearer family.

Please explain. I know that we in the south and in the hills tend to fry everything, but the only thing I could think of was pasta putanesca.

It sounds like they’re in the area of Tracy City and the Dutch Maid Bakery, which is a wonderful place to visit, have lunch and take some yummies home, should you go to visit.

The car has gas, I’ve made / frozen 6 quarts of veggie broth and harvested sweet basil, sage, peppermint and thyme. I used most of the sweet basil for the caprese salad for supper, some of the mint for the glass of iced tea that I’m drinking and took some peppermint to my neighbor Kim. Now for chillage.

In Oregon they have Hood River Strawberries, or “Hoodies” as they’re called. They mature early and are super sweet. We had some growing in our yard, but would also buy them at local stores and farmers’ markets. And then there were the locally grown pears and apples. We can you-pick apples here in MN, also, and I know there are blueberry farms where one can do that. We bought some strawberries at the Saturday market near us this morning. Not very sweet, unfortunately.

Speaking of Oregon, I saw on the news where a bunch of folks were stuck on a carnival ride at the permanent amusement park at Oaks Bottom, which sits on the east side of the Willamette River. That was only about six blocks from our house. Nice to see the area again, if only on the tube.

The carpet is still a bit damp so the room will be reassembled tomorrow. I stripped off the recliner covers, laundered them, and put them back on. They left lots of dog hair in the lint trap. Chorage is done for today.

Daughter et al found the dog they want to adopt. He’s a 2-y/o black lab/retriever mix named Tubbo. Roxy says his name is Trevor, so shall it be. He’ll be neutered this week and Daughter will pick him up on Firday - her RDO. Apparently, he’s a licker and a gentle sweetie.

Poor FCD had to endure visits from several Indiana cousins. He was less than thrilled with the encounters. I’ve met 3 or 4 of his cousins - 'nuff said.

It was cooler today and we’re to get into the 60s tonight. It’s 77° inside right now, so no need to turn on the air. I’ll have a shower before bed to cool down a bit, and the windows will stay open. Just hope Ziva doesn’t climb on me again.

Got a lot done today, and I should finish my Iist before the travelers return. Plus I get my new phone on Moanday so I get to transfer everything and set my preferences and stuff. That promises to be a pain, especially setting new ring tones. First world problems.

They mix the sauce with the noodles and put that in a hot cast iron frying pan, smother it with parm, then slowly cook it until it has a nice brown bottom (like a frittata). MIL used to make it for us, I’ve never seen it on a menu outside of WV and only rarely even then.

That just sounds super cute! We like looking at pics of cute bowls too!

Dinner was good and I will have leftovers for tomorrow.

I always feel so sorry for folks who get stuck upside down on those rides. That’s gotta get pretty painful, pretty quick.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on our old neighborhood over the years. The Lakes was a nice retirement area when we moved in all those decades ago. Then the old folks started dying off due to age and their out of state families sold their singlewides cheap. Then the meth heads moved in and everyone who had the means left. We moved back after the community had started looking nicer again and have watched improvements happen ever since.

Then they built the first truck stop and things started going to shit again. I am so happy we are out of there.

Evening all. The Knoxville Zoo is quite nice with a great assortment of animals in modern settings (read: no iron bars). Two minor problems: It’s about $28 to get in and to see it all takes about 3 hours and 2+ miles of walking, with lots of hills to climb. In other words, I sweated as much as I would have refereeing a couple of games. Then went to the park and did my two games, and of course right at the end of the second one, with me on my last legs, I had to make a decision that decided the game, and I did and while I’m 98% sure I got it right, glad there wasn’t a slow-mo camera watching it. Still, coaches and parents didn’t blow a fuse about it, so guess they thought it was a good call. Had my Sunday dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse tonight since I figure Father’s Day will be busier than normal and I want to do the 4-hour drive home non-stop if I can. So back in the hotel and need to pack up tonight since I have an 8:30am game tomorrow which means leaving here by 7:30am at the latest.

Oh, and it reached 92F today…

OK, need to roll up my sleeves and see what else has transpired today in Mumper-Land.

Sticky Buns, I don’t like having ‘those’ talks either, my brother has my mom’s side of the family temper, which is either short-fused or What Fuse?, so I learned to avoid them. Hope it does work out for you.

Pilot, Best wishes to BB on getting family matters settled so she and you can get back to what you do best… Hope things work out for your friend.

Taters, hope the pups checkup went well (I’ll probably read about it as I scroll down).

FCM, read the Toby Hinde-n-Seek story and thought that there may be a budding politician in the making… And older people tend to accumulate cash, if my mother was any reference. We found over $2,200 stuffed in various envelopes in her drawers after she passed away in 1991.

FCM, I know it’s Roxy’s choice and all, but I really liked the name Tubbo. Hope it works out well for all of them.

And that’s about all the energy I have left. Don’t know when I’ll get a chence to post tomorrow, but all y’all have a great Father’s Day.

I found a pic from the internet.

I got the bowl at home goods for 3.99. It is very nifty.

We’re glad for you too. I never heard you describe its state as anything but a crazy-making horror. And I’ve lived in AZ a couple years and visited regularly with resident family there for decades.

Nice escape!!

Yaay for lots done. Now to sleep.

As to rural driving …
I grew up driving the freeways of Los Angeles a decade or two before they clotted. It was aggressive bloodsport at 80mph in 1970s cars or motorcycles w 1970s brakes, tires, and safety features. I was fine w that.

Nothing, not even driving in Panamá, ever scared me like driving in rural MO outside St. Louis. I never got comfortable with 1 lane each way w no shoulder, a grassy ditch then a wall of mature oak forest. Every curve or hill could be hiding a wrong-side driver, a herd of deer, a wayward cow, a 5mph farm tractor, etc. And out in ruralia, every blind curve or hill was immediately followed by … another blind curve or hill. On any / every drive you’d either have no excitement at all or a probably-fatal accident. There was no in-between. None. Yikes!! On the bright side there was often no cell service so no calling for help assuming you were alive enough to try. Just bleed out alone.

I’ll take my cocaine-powered road ragers here any day. Sooo much more relaxing.

As to me now …

BB’s in a major funk w her crisis and won’t let me help. Yet.. Ouch! Poor thing!! Text hugs are a pale substitute for the real thing.

I took myself to the geezer disco venue Galuppi’s a few miles away for a Billy Joel tribute tonight. Enjoyed some teriyaki spring rolls for an app and about to get a pistachio encrusted grouper for dessert. A couple glasses of OK+ red then white wine are completing the meal.

This not-local group is pretty darn good. Not danceable at all but we all knew that.

All that and early in the Stanley cup game 4 the local heros, the Panthers, haven’t dumped it yet.

A lonely but pleasant evening thus far.

Cheers all!

The Spousal Unit has had diarrhoea for the past three weeks, and she’s been irking on the house, so she didn’t want to go out tonight. Instead, I got Thai take-out. She had crab rangoon, a spring roll, a couple of potstickers, a (small :frowning: ) chicken satay, and a Thai iced tea. I had yum beef salad (5-star), three (small :frowning: ) chicken satay, a spring roll, and a potsticker. We’re both full.

Up from naptime, laundry is put away, I’m having a Vieux Carré and watching the Stanley Cup Finals.

So put her on a stepstool, then bite her in the face.

You’re an adult, make up for lost time(or solve mysteries with BB).

Wait, is it really sports if nobody is chanting “I’M BLIND! I’M DEAF! I WANNA BE A REF!” Glad the zoo was good, though.

OK, but just don’t think about the Staypuft Marshmallow Man when they do.

Awww, I hope it clears up quick.

We’ve been watching 24 Hours of Le Mans most of the day. I was just thinking of the people living near the track. They’re probably like, 'Do you mind? It’s three o’clock in the morning! Stop the noise! In French! :rage:

Hubs parents had much more than that squirreled away in various hiding places when they passed.

Hubs squirrels cash away as well. I don’t. I know the safe combination (well, I have it saved in several places) and know which drawer the cash is in, I have no need to put it elsewhere.

It is indeed and I’ll bet it looks even more nifty with the Swedish fish in it!

It was really nice when we first lived there in our little single-wide. Then the methheads started moving in and we moved down the road. That place was nice but on the side of the mountain and once my hip blew, I couldn’t use our yard.

We moved back to the Lakes because we knew the methheads were gone and it was flat so I could still garden and the neighborhood was pretty nice. Then the truck stop happened and the trashy neighbors moved in. Then the world ended and Hubs drank the Flavor-aid.

I’m happy that he is starting to disengage with the trump cult, he’s going back to being the man I married.

And the locals all drive like their wife is in labor.

I’ve done many, MANY risky things in my life, but driving down town to get toilet paper in WV after dark is on the top of that list!

As a woman who stopped dating in her thirties, I feel fully qualified to give you advice about dating in the Golden Years.

From what I understand, the two of you aren’t going steady, you are just FWB. FWB don’t expect emotional support and might be a little scared to receive it because that is a change in the relationship while being in an emotional crisis.

So…I guess what I’m trying to say is that you might be moving a little too fast for her.

No, what? Geeze, medical people are the worse patients.

Buy her a bidet toilet seat, you will be such a hero. These are the ones we like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ERU55D0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Bird dogs do tend to be gentle ones. As a 2 year old lab mix, he’s going to still be somewhat of a puppy (IOW, keep shoes out of his reach). It sounds like Trevor will be a good addition to the family.

Glad that you enjoyed the zoo and that the games went well metal mouse.

Well, yeah.

Don’t listen to the haters. I’ve had these, and they are delishush.

Note to self: things at work can always be worse.

I love the MMP.

It really would’ve tied the room together.

Fine. I know when I’m not wanted.

{ flounces off in a huff }

Well, the Oilers nuked the Panthers 8-1. But there is beer and popcorn. Roomie has Bridgerton on, the Ball episode. Nice to see the callouts from Doctor Who.

Well, you know, that’s just like your opinion, man.

Um, yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if JtC heard the fallout from her new place. To say it did not go well would be an understatement. The partially good news if there is any at all is that I am as far away from being in the middle as I can be right now. Everyone in the house was crying for one reason or another last night and my mom says that she’s going to look for another place to live. I would hate to see her go for many reasons including I don’t think that she should live alone due to her health issues. That’s part of the reason that I haven’t been pushing things on looking for a job that isn’t at home or close by. The other issue is that just as things are right now, financially, I don’t think that we could afford to live here without her monetary contributions.

So. Who knows what this day will hold. It shall be especially interesting because I believe one of MusicMan’s sons is coming in for Father’s Day. And… with my birthday this week, all my birthday plans may be off.

Er, happy Sunday?

Oh, I almost forgot…FCM, you’re metaphorically welcome to come clean my house anytime!!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 18c.64f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “You may feel like walking around your yard fucking naked. Your elderly neighbour, however, wishes you fucking wouldn’t.” No chance of me doing that, ever!

metalmouse glad you enjoyed the zoo, it’s deceptive how much walking there is when you’re strolling around looking at animals

Moooom I read the hide and seek story, sounds adorable! Sounds like you are getting lots of things done while the house is yours, hopefully you will get some chillage as well, that’s just as important.

flyboy if Mrs LA has had the runs for three weeks, shouldn’t she be seeking professional advice? I’d be worried if that was me…

Pilot sorry to hear BB is having a tough time, maybe she just doesn’t want to get you involved in her drama, or she feels having someone from “outside” would cause more problems than it solves. If it was just her having problems, then maybe she’d feel differently, but having something going on with various family members is a whole different thing.

{{{{Sticky Buns}}}}} sounds like you could use a few virtual hugs.

Yesterday was relatively uneventful, I went to the gym in the morning and burned close to 1,000 cals doing a spin class, then a kettlebells class, then doing 50 minutes on the elliptical wossname. I normally do the hour-long programme on there but if I’d stayed to complete it (and the 5-minute cool-down afterwards), I would have exceeded my 3hrs free parking. I sacrificed the last 15 minutes so I wouldn’t get a parking fine…not that it would have mattered - I had one ages ago, messaged the gym guys with the notification and they voided it for me.

I would have had plenty of time but Mak extended his 30-minute kettlebells class a bit. He’d planned on 12 rounds at 40 seconds each, with a 45 second break between rounds. Then he decided to chuck in a minute-long round of abs in between each of the other 12 rounds. I don’t mind, he’s a nice guy and his classes are always fun, just meant I had to keep an eye on the time.

Back home to get tidied up and have a cuppa or two, then off to town for lunch and errands. I had a bit of spare time in the afternoon so managed a couple of chores, then made chicken curry for dinner, and watched a movie.

Today is Father’s Day here, not a day of celebration here because mine passed away when I was 18. Instead, I am off to do some fundraising for Little Paws. A pub over my side of town has a “fun day” going on this afternoon and we have a table so there’s be a tombola and some stuff to sell. We usually do quite well at these so it’ll be a good chance to get some funds into the rescue’s pot for the vet bills. That should sort out most of my day, I need to be there just after midday to help set stuff up, and it goes on until 6pm, then we need to pack stuff up again.

It’s mid-morning now, so I just need to squeeze in some more tea, and get something to eat before I go out. Bacon butty sounds good to me!

My FIL built a hidey-hole behind a book rack in their bathroom, and they put $5K in cash in there, just in case there was a hurricane and they couldn’t get their money out of the bank. Thankfully, we knew about it and got it out of the hole and into the bank before they put their house on the market. I’m hoping it was the only hidey-hole.

FCD’s uncle used to put cash in coffee cans and bury them variously around his farm. I’m guessing his kids probably dug most, if not all, of them up before he was cold in the ground. I never met any of them, but I heard stories.

Don’t I wish. I don’t think I got 5 hours last night. Dammit.

And in keeping with tradition, they have another black pet. Cozmo was black, as are both of their cats. OK, their fish are more colorful, and the turtle is more brown than black, but my point stands!

Well, look who’s the comedian!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Along with waking stupid early, my chores have begun - well, at least one - I put this room back together. I had to so’s I could use my 'puter! Unfortunately, I found 2 stained spots on the carpet - I’ll have to go back and spot-clean them. The main plan for today is the dining room carpet, but that shouldn’t take too long. I’d forgotten about the slidey-thingies that I can use to move the table. Plus they’re plastic, so I can slide the table back in while the carpet is drying and it won’t leave a stain! So yay!

I also need to water the petunias out front, and I’d like to transplant a few from old planters in the back - we shall see how that goes. Seems there was something else I needed to do - I’m sure it’ll come to me when I collapse in exhaustion.

Onward. Happy Father’s Day and Happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall deheathenate and then get roast beast sammiches from Arby’s to bring back to da cave. We have a coupon. We are cheap thrifty. After they get et up there will be quality cee-mint pond time to include sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. Sounds like a good Sunday plan to me!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all! Happy Father’s Day to all the Mumper dads be y’all dads of humans or various type critters.
