I’m a proud member of the Self-Preservation Society.
I am so sorry things are so stressful. Sometimes life shits on good people for no reason at all
I read further and saw that things have worked out somewhat on that front, calm is good.
I like the voids…except at night when I trip over them. I hope Trevor gives them many happy years.
I’m glad they are doing better. Itchy ears are not good for man nor beast!
That’s good to hear as well
Oh I agree, but I know he got it from his folks and their folks. He used to keep a ridiculous amount of money in his gun safe until he finally listened to me about what my stocks were doing. He didn’t want to risk ten grand in the market (it’s going to crash any minute) so he bought a T-bill instead.
Congratulations! Dang about the scheduling issue, but good that you can enjoy what time you have together when you are together. Some folks waste their precious minutes together kvetching about not having enough time together…
I will help you worry! Poor lil guy and poor you!
Oh, that is horrible, I am so sorry you got sick at such a bad time. Thank you for not passing the bug around due to Fear Of Missing Out. I hope you feel better soonest
Love in an Elevator always gets me moving.
We don’t let our cats on the tables or counters, but also clean all surfaces before preparing food. Not only are we sure that our cats are all lying liars who lie about being on the counter, we both do a lot of fermenting and are very aware of the wild bacteria floating around in the air.
Hurray for a safe journey home.
Well, hell. This isn’t great. Hubs needed some more moving boxes and went to the U-haul place to buy them. As he was paying for them, someone started out their move by using their newly rented moving truck to total Hubs’ car.
While we were planning to sell his car and buy a 4-wheel truck, we were going to sell it in WV after he arrived. Now he’s going to have to buy something in AZ and use the ready cash we were going to use for the oven and cook top. And catio. Fuck.
Deep breath. It’s going to be OK. We will figure this out.
This is MY fault, I shouldn’t have bragged about getting Hubs to stop keeping large amount of cash available. Karma can be a real bitch at times.
I had friend requested a while ago a girl I used to go to school with, but we never really spoke in school. She was beautiful and I figured, popular.
She accepted.
She remembers me as being pretty. I was like, I sure didn’t feel pretty! That was nice.
Sometimes we think everyone else has as low an opinion of us as we ourselves do.
We talked on the phone for awhile and caught up.
While in church, I looked at my phone and saw my ex called( ms).
Funny. Probably wants sex. Will never happen again.
I wonder how many presents Nick Cannon got today.
First a brush fire and now this. AZ sure as hell wants to make sure you don’t ever come back.
Seriously … Ouch! Altough I gotta say, the best place to be while your car is being wrecked is … inside a building instead. He coulda been sitting in it as the Goofball of Rented Doom backed over his car and him.
As to cash, the market has been doing well recently. Unless you bought a bunch of long bonds with whatever money used to be Hubs’ cash stash, you can retrieve all that into your checking account within 3 business days and still have a profit on the round trip transactions. Show him the profit early and often and he might be OK with it.
Sigh, I spy another obstacle of teeny-town living. There’s no place to buy or rent a car when you need one. Best of luck on whatever interim solution you / he come up with.
{{Hugs}} to you both.
Hubs wanted me to grill the burgers out on the Weber grill; however, when I lifted the lid, I saw that no one (meaning me) had cleaned it since a year ago. So, burgers were cooked inside on cast iron pan. Dinner was tasty.
That’s GREAT!
Sticky
Curious; what does quality cee-mint pond time consist of?
Do you swim laps? Jog in the pool? Do some water exercise aka aerobics? Cannonball? Float on some floaty toys?
This had me laughing and snorting.
And again, laughing and snorting.
taters or can I call you spuds? So glad to hear that the pups ears are doing so much better!
You can count on it.
The Lincoln Park Zoo (Chicago) is flat.
I’m amused too
Now I’m back to laughing and snorting
JtC I’m so sorry to hear that someone totalled Hubs’ car; that truly sucks. But then again, Hubs was inside paying for some boxes so he’s safe and sound. While a giant PITA, in the long run, it’s only things/money. Can he rent a car for the drive to WV?
Our daughter had given a card to me to give to Hubs today. He showed it to me after he opened it and the sentiment that she wrote inside of it was so heartwarming. Then she called him this afternoon and they talked for an hour. So, he had a good day.
Although he had some pain in one of his thumb joints and that could possibly be a symptom of Graft vs Host Disease so I had him call then MyChart his stem cell Doc. Hopefully she’ll contact him tomorrow.
I did the usual cleaning, napping, and recycling, plus changed Spot’s litter out. Having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned with my pig n’ sweet potato.
I’m in!
PUPPAH!
Glad things are trending better, sticky.
One more and I get a vest. Or get vested in the pension plan.
Damn. Hopefully the insurance doesn’t drag its feet too much, so you can get the oven and top.
Well, yeah, that wasn’t going to happen anyhow, LOL!
You are right, I’m super happy he wasn’t in the car when it got smooshed but this didn’t come at a very good time.
Did I mention that he unloaded the gun safe into his car yesterday? I had suggested that he sell most of them off before the move because he’s not physically able to use most of them and he offended because he’s going to get better.
Narrator: Nobody ever gets younger.
What a mess. I called BFF and asked her to send her hubs to help mine rescue the guns and hubs has taken pics (no police report, this happened on private property) and put in an insurance claim but geeze, this is not sparking joy in his life.
It really is and it gives me hope that others are recovering from the poison they were fed as well.

Can he rent a car for the drive to WV?
We aren’t really sure what he’s going to do after he gets his guns out of the car. My BFF is making up a bed for him to sleep in if he can’t leave as planned and I was looking at plane tickets until I remembered the guns.

Although he had some pain in one of his thumb joints and that could possibly be a symptom of Graft vs Host Disease
Nonono. He’s been doing so well, life can’t dump on him like this again. I will not allow it!!!
See you all on the other side of Mumpville tomorrow!
Last note. Mowage was accomplished and some ham and cheese provided the night’s repast, so will turn in shortly as it has been a busy day and I have a 6:30am appointment for an MRI on Moanday, so up way too early for that.
JtC, glad hubs is OK, hopefully the idiots insurance company will compensate you for the damages, but that doesn’t get him a vehicle now. It’ll all work out, just a little more complex than before.
FCM, that is a cute doggie that can grow up with the kids for the next 10 years (hopefully).
Catch all y’all on the next MMP.
Take the last train to Mumpville…

It’ll all work out, just a little more complex than before.
We have already turned this into our insurance company. They will pay for our damages and go after the idiot and/or U-haul as needed. Of course we won’t get enough to replace his car but the big issue is that Hubs IS leaving Wednesday morning. I’m hoping that BFF and hubs can talk him down, I need him to start the trip well rested because he’s going to be driving a new to him vehicle and I don’t want him to die.

What to eat when and where? Fancy, casual, scruffy, or just fight scurvy and malaria here at home; plenty of calories in that liquid diet
I vote for liquid diet , just not the one I’m currently enjoying. Gatorade and herbal tea doesn’t even fight boredom.

Feel better soon, BBBoo.

so sorry you are not feelin’ well and missin’ grandbaby’s bday. Hope you are all better soonest.
Thanks every one. I think I’m finally on the mend but it’s been a long 4 days. I may throw caution to the wind and have a cup of real coffee in the morning. God willing and the creek don’t rise (or anything else).

Sometimes life shits on good people for no reason at all
And sometimes good people shit for no reason at all.
[I must be getting better, I couldn’t resist that]

I hope you feel better soonest
Thank you~all you Mumpers are helping my morale a lot. Now we just have some treasonous mucus membranes to whip into shape.

Deep breath. It’s going to be OK. We will figure this out.
It will be and I’m living proof. I just went through this less than 6 weeks ago and it will be ok it just won’t feel like it until the last little nitpicking bureaucratic piece falls into place after interminable phone calls and filing out of electronic forms. Finding a half-way reliable used car for less than a king’s ransom is a bitch though-not at all like the pre pandemic times. I’ll be lighting candles for you for that process .

This is MY fault, I shouldn’t have bragged
Girl, you stop that right now!! You hear me?!! Right now!! Not your fault at all.

Altough I gotta say, the best place to be while your car is being wrecked is … inside a building instead
My stance exactly. May 6th I was in my bathrobe drinking my coffee when my sweet little Civic was totaled by a kid reaching for his phone. Up over the curb, over the sidewalk and onto my lawn, at a 90 degree angle. Something tells me he wasn’t driving the 25mph residential speed limit. A neighbor heard the crash and knocked on my door.
I’ve done it the other way-been in a Civic when it was totaled. I have the traumatic brain injury to prove it. Vastly prefer the smooshing while not in the car. Your coffee might get cold but that’s minor. Yep, unoccupied smooshing gets my vote every time.

Float on some floaty toys?
I’m pretty sure it’s this. Hawaiian aloha print swim trunks, a flamingo floaty, dozing occasionally with a tropical drink with a paper umbrella always near to hand.

Hopefully the insurance doesn’t drag its feet too much
Let’s hope the renter took out that extra insurance on the truck. At least hubs will have the U Haul people on his side and their lawyers pushing to get things settled.
The complicating factor is going to be if any of the guns was damaged-that’s going to have to be covered under homeowners insurance and a whole other claim battle, another deductible, etc. Been there, done that. Turns out if you rear end a Civic hard enough you can crease a brand new iPad Pro in the trunk. Granted the trunk was now 4 feet shorter than it had been but the iPad was also no longer flat. You might suggest hubs takes the guns to a gunsmith and has them all checked for hidden damage.
I woke this morning, much to early, and saw a chipmunk on my laundry basket. I have now figured out where the little bastards are getting in. Tiny little hole in the back of the closet. Not sure how they’re getting the walnuts in…
Must get to patching the holes. And taking down trees and branches.

the big issue is that Hubs IS leaving Wednesday morning.
Does he have to, though?
I mean, I know you’re both anxious to have the move over and done with, but is there really any reason he can’t take a breath, figure out the car situation without rushing, and get on the road whenever things have been resolved? What’s an extra few days at the old homestead at this point?
I just hope he proceeds sensibly and safely.
And of course, I’m very sorry this happened. Lots of silver linings though: No one was hurt, insurance seems to be doing its thing, you were going to sell the car anyway. It’ll be OK.
