(Old) Getting up steam in the MMP

I’m not seeing that info. Can you point me to a source? Thanks.

This one doesn’t mention the passports, I think I got the whole story from the live news.

The produce in Charleston is much better than what we can get at the local Kroger. I’m guessing that location makes a big difference. We are in full agreement about the cheese, and I’m a big fan of their ciabatta rolls.

Matter of fact, tonight dinner will be a baked pork chop and green salad for him, baked brie and toasted garlic bread for me. Tangerine slices for my dessert, he will eat a handful of mixed nuts.

I’m so glad you understand!

Free food and a dedicated bartender sounds all sort of ritzy to me, I hope you have the best time at the game.

I’m sure it won’t be as fancy as the ones you’ve seen pics of, but it certainly has some amenities that make for some great seats. There will be some free food available and a dedicated bartender, so no missing large chunks of the game standing in line! I am also incredibly fortunate to work for a company that doesn’t restrict this to executives only and lets regular employees attend.

Also, thank you for oh so selfishly feeding your neighbor and her kid. You are making a tangible difference in their lives. We need more selfish people like you.

Yeah this… I’ve never known anyone that was actually happy with a professional’s paint job…

You can usually pick up a ticket or two for a somewhat reasonable price to round 1 or 2 playoff games (unless you’re in someplace like LA or NYC). It’s a really remarkable experience even in the highest seats - I don’t know about other arenas, but here people are pretty much on their feet and cheering the entire time. If you snag a ticket in OKC next year I’d be happy to play tour guide!

And enjoy your trip and please post photos!!

coppertone good luck tomorrow!

Thank you!

Yaay for trying. TRs around here have lines out the door every day. Not sure how much Father’s Day adds to the mix.

They also offer “wait in your air-conditioned car and we’ll text when it’s your turn for a table”. So seeing no line doesn’t mean there isn’t one; they’re all hiding in their cars.

Ouch about the unhappy family.

Wimp!!!

Seriously, congrats on new BIL & enjoy the game! And the day off.

I got fixed 30 years ago. Been shootin’ blanks a long time now. If somebody was gonna get preggers it’d have happened long ago.

Pre-, post-, sterile, fertile; don’t matter to me. Willing is the only filter.

I wanted to post yesterday after returning from the protest/rally, but Max’s person called and asked me to please walk him. I was pretty tuckered, but the little guy needed walking, so I went and had a good time. Who can’t smile with a happy dog sniffing the sniffs? I told her no today, though. Sundays are my only jammy days (unless I’m really sick).

The protest was great. I’d say there were well over the 5,000 expected to attend. I got much approval for my sign. I said hi to the few cops present (I think less than 10, all told.), and one of them nodded at my sign and smiled. I know the “Don’t engage cops” rule some have, but the cops here are pretty chill. Some highlights:

Speaker asked for a moment of silence for the army members forced to participate in Trump’s parade even though they didn’t want to.

Speaker who was a former commanding officer at the nearby base and later head of the state VA gave a great speech condemning DJT.

My favorite sign was on a dog: “I can shit a better president than Trump.”

Favorite costume: woman dressed like Statue of Liberty with knives prodtruding from her back labeled, “Trump,” “Musk,” Miller," etc.

Second place: Guy in a great Moses costume sporting a yarmulke and holding a sign, “Resisting dictators since pharaoh.”

I saw a most unusual dog. I tried to post a photo but I got a message saying I can’t embed media or something like that. What am I doing wrong?

I was next to a retired cop who said of Kristi Noem, “I should’ve arrested her when I had the chance.” Apparently he caught a teen-age her, um, doing the no-pants dance with a guy in a pickup.

Day-um. Max’s person just texted me to beg me to walk him. She’s on incapacitated today; her kids are visiting. Apparently nobody wants to walk the dog before they go sightseeing.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! My dad died in 1988, but I like to spend time thinking about him. I lucked out in the father department (AND the mother department). I still miss him daily.

I had to stop there to go to poor Max. He cried when he saw me–not whimpered or whined, just pathetic little squeaks. It was heartbreaking. I had to hold him awhile before he’d stop. He’s not used to being alone. Anyway, I walked him, then brought him back here. It made for an interesting conversation when my son called. "So as I was saying, stop licking me, you little critter!

HOOOORAAAAY! What a joy!

Also, thanks for telling us about the young woman. Reading it lifted my heart. You make the world a better place to live in, and what worthier goal is there than that?

 You crack me up. Wouldn’t that be a cool job, though? “What do you do?” “I’m a cornmeal specialist. When your muffin tastes like nuffin’, I’ll be there.”

Taters, sounds like you had an FCM Level day of accomplishments. I’m impressed!

A belated Happy Birthday, Coppertone! And congrats on scoring TP!

Red, good thinking on Nelson’s ears. What do you think caused the itching? An allergy, maybe? Pollen?

I used to go hiking with a Meetup group. It was great. Nice people. Then I stopped driving and couldn’t get to where they met up.

Pilot, my sign was 20 x 30 and said in 5 inch letters, "No Faux King Clowns, plus had a crown and Trump’s clown face on it. I think you cou could read it from a distance. As I walked home, I got a lot of shouted compliments and horns honking, so I guess it was OK.

Was there a big crowd? I read that DC people went to your neck of the woods to protest.

 You are too good!

So he’s practicing his inscrutable slow blink?

If I became a mango, it’d definitely be inadvertent.

Proof Mother Nature is really a teenager.

It certainly looks like it.

I’ve been to a fair number, and I still cry. Hugs to Mrs. LA.

Oopsie, the lamp is made of Lego? I honestly can’t tell.

I HAD MORE ON THIS POST, BUT DISCOURSE ATE IT. Hmph.

Yesterday, I kept checking on TV news to see if anything hawrrible happened to any of the millions of people demonstrating across the US and a few other places.

Today, NASCAR went to Mexico City for the first time. Before the race, a troupe of children sang the Star Spangled Banner and the Mexican national anthem. Cameras found driver Daniel Suarez to show him singing along. Aussie Shane Van Gisbergen won the race, and I thought, “Wow, are the kids gonna sing the Australian anthem, and does NASCAR even have an Aussie flag?” No. The podium ceremony was done with no flags or antherms.

It was huge, over 80k and amazing speakers.

In other news, the streets around my condo were blocked off today. Not for protests, charity runs, or concerts this time. For jack reacher. They are filming around the train tunnel in front of our building.

Fun history fact, before the building we were part of the Baldwin locomotive works. We were a turntable. Freight trains still use a set of the original tracks under Pennsylvania Avenue. According to some neighbours there was some sort of train stunt.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and I verged without incident, so I call it a win. We did a figure eight procession around the nave which I led, that’s what vergers do, lead processions. Then it was back to da cave for sammiches and nappage. Lots of rain and a couple of tboomers this afternoon. Sup got cooked and et. Very nummy if’n I do say so myself. The biiiiig trash can got hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow between rains. Looks like there will be more rain soon. We had Netflix and chill but no popcorn cause we were stuffded from sup. Really. That was a lot of food, but leftovers for Tuesday, so that’s good.

Now I shall go join OYKW upon the bed. I feel like I will be in dream land within the hour for sure.

It cleared and clouded up a couple of times, and there was distant thunder, but no rain. I had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, salad, poke loin, and sweet N.O.T.. I made an allspice/orange/ginger/ancho chili blend for the tater.

< applause >

Hunting dust bunnies, or starring at The Thing That Lives In the Ceiling.

F1: “All tires over the white line is track infringement!”
NASCAR: “HEY, Y’ALL, WATCH THIS!”

F1 Academy does. First time I’ve heard the Star Spangled Banner and La Marseillaise on a podium.

Well, I’m all packed, at least everything I can think off is either in the bag or carry-on or waiting in a set place on my counter for tomorrow. Now to double-set the alarm clock for 6am (it has two alarms and I set both of them a couple minutes apart–usually wake up before they go off anyway). Both my arriving flight and overseas flight leave from the same terminal at JFK airport (terminal 4) so that is one worry I shouldn’t have. Starting to get nervous, I usually am up to the time the taxi/Uber picks me up and then i stop worrying and just deal.

nellie, your post is further proof that some people have much better imaginations than I; those were great signs/costumes. And your walking Max made me think of an old Robert A. Heinlein short story “We Also Walk Dogs…”, and wonder of wonders it is on the web (Astounding v27n05 (1941 07) (dtsg0318 LennyS) : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive) Don;t know if you would like it or not, but it is a nice little story, IMHO.

And am tired and need to double-check my list to make sure I really do have everything ready to go. Take care all and I’ll try to check in tomorrow sometime.

Have a very safe and fun trip. I’m sure you have everything you need packed and know that you will be up at least an hour before needed.

Write often and know that we think of you fondly!

He inherited his mother’s skin sensitivities. While Sis was here last time, she was having to tend to Fifi’s skin issues. He’s OK most of the time, but the skeeters like the insides of his tender Sister Bertrille ears.

Have a safe and fun trip metal mouse!

See you all on the next MMP!
I keep wanting to think up a great title. If I did, I’d probably sleep through and not post in time.

Have a wonderful trip!
