(Old) Getting up steam in the MMP

First California peaches of the season this morning! What a treat after months of greenhouse berries that usually have little flavor. Man, do I miss peach season in Oregon.

Road construction continues below our windows. This morning they’re tearing up the pavement that they put down last year. A line of shiny red dump trucks await their loads. We’re supposed to get some frisky weather this week, so that will slow progress.

I bought some new feathery thingies for Sadie’s wand toy. She loves playing with that, although it’s mostly me doing all the work while she “hides” and watches, occasionally leaping for it as it passes by. Pretty spry for a 14-year old.

All puzzles puzzled, body stretched and twisted, no further activities planned for the day and dinner will be leftovers.

I never finished and somehow lost all my replies to the last MMP. Nonetheless I am sad to confirm that the chocolate walk was sold out. It’s a long story of misread social media. And while I’m sad that we cannot go, I figure with a bowl and a spoon I can console myself with some chocolate in a climate controlled environment.

Tired today and waiting for the appointment with my therapist. Catch y’all later.

And timed things right this morning, did my Krogering, then dropped off dry cleaning and picked up newspaper and sammich before coming home. And that 50% chance of rain arrived at 100% about 2 minutes after I turned into my garage, so in no hurry to head outdoors too quickly. Also put my hold mail request in for my trip and scheduled to referee soccer this weekend, so all-in-all a productive morning. More rain due this afternoon so will try and get to the gym between raindrops.

Sticky Buns, chocolate anytime is a good idea…do it sometime while watching the movie “Chocolat”.

wet one, well, at least there is symmetry…

Dicey, can’t say I had ever heard of a steam oven, did a little googling and apparently it is a thing. Thanks for extra knowledge.

Pilot, sounds like a lot of good energy at the concert, glad you had fun. And if GF could handle a boy toy at her age, then she should be able to keep up with your…uummm…strenuous workouts…

Taters, I got my tabs via the mail and online registration; does your state do that?

Cookie, so they are replacing pavement they put in a year ago? Well, that makes sense (to no one ever). And keep sadie happy is the rule of the day.

And that’s all for now, the rain has departed for the time being, so need to think about doing things…like getting more Diet Pepsi…

My church must be doing something right. Yesterday, as I approached the drive, I saw a whole clump of WBC picketers greeting us with their ugly signs. I waved and they screamed. We were having a picnic after the service and somebody suggested going over there and inviting them, but by then they would have been gone. It was Pentecost and a lot of us were wearing something red, and they associate that with blood. I once heard Phred, years ago, insult an elderly woman for wearing a red skirt.

Mostly up, partially sheveled, not heaving. So far it’s cooler today. Some of the nasturtiums are now blooming, and the tiny fuscia, and the new small lavender rose we planted this spring. I have cross-ventilation going and a pitcher of mint sun tea (two tea bags + fresh peppermint) on the table in back because sun. I have eaten a few sugar pod peas. I edited outside for an hour, and now I’m inside. Goal is to read through the whole novel MS (2/3 written) today, making some notes but not yet typing them in. Nothing else is scheduled, though I’ll do some yard work when I water later today, including liquid fish fertilizer for the neighbors’ blueberry bushes for which I have permission to graze. probably finish The Book of Merlyn, a posthumously published Once and Future King book, which is quite bad IMHO. There may be ravioli. There may be broccoli.

Did you hear the cussin’?? I did a lot, because I totally screwed up yet again. So more stitches were ripped out and I had to cut out another piece because one that I ripped out was fraying too much. But I think I’ve got it worked out. However, I’m not touching it again till tomorrow. I need to rest my brain and look at it fresh. It’s not the cushions so much as it’s the band that joins the two over the back of the seat. I couldn’t get its orientation correct and I tried to get ahead of myself by sewing too much at once. Yeah, I know that doesn’t make sense if you can’t see it, but trust me, it’s accurate.

In the meantime, I’ve made a fake krab salad for supper - it’s in the fridge so the flavors can merge in deliciousness. Not sure what we’ll have with it, but I’m sure I can figure something out. Especially since it won’t involve sewing. < headdesk >

I’m just going to veg a while. Deep cleansing breaths and all that.

Sorry about your sewing frustrations.

Here’s the new rose.

lovely, i like the rocks as well.

Well, I think they were getting some utility work done last year, then backfilled and put a temporary cap on the strip they had dug up so traffic could get through. Now they’re back to do the heavy work of new manholes, proper backfill and paving.

There’s a special place in Hell for Phred Felps. I’d consider it a badge of honor to be protested by WBC.

It HAILED in western Mitten State a few minutes ago!
Quite the frog-strangler.

Your rose reminds me of some that I had when I lived up north. They were paler pink and were climbing roses.

There were thunderboomers this afternoon with the usual rain that comes along with them.

I got a few phone calls out of the way, among them, one to the likker sto’ to see about more boxes (told to try again tomorrow). No packing was done for that lack.

Now to do some more chillin’.

My day held typical work-related stuff…meetings, tasks, etc. I got through it, but I’d say that my steam was weaker than usual: after getting home from my BFFs last night I stayed up watching the Tony awards* and finally crashed at around 12:30am, only to be awakened 3.5 hours later when Bailey decided it was barking time. Sigh.

*The only awards show I ever watch.

Dinner went really well yesterday…until I tried to Zelle my “nephew” the chunk-o-cash I’m gifting him and his GF for their impending move and typo-ed his cell phone number. :woman_facepalming: Luckily, at the penultimate step I finally saw that I was about to send a good amount of money to a complete stranger: the payment has been stuck in “on hold” status since then, pending that last step. I can’t send another payment until the hold is cleared, and there’s no way to cancel it. I called my credit union a little while ago, and they can’t cancel a pending payment either: the woman I talked to said my best bet is to keep doing nothing, and within 1-2 days my entire Zelle account will be frozen (vs just the pending payment) and then the CU can unfreeze it. I’d have to reinitiate any pending payments, meaning the bad one will be effectively cancelled. Then I can make the payment to my nephew. I also tried calling Zelle’s customer service, just in case, but they were less helpful than my CU (Zelle is really just a middleman service with no ability to start or end payment requests).

It’s my own fault: I was multitasking and using my phone, and I should have just used WifeBFF’s iPad. At least I caught it before I actually sent the money, but I’m pretty annoyed with myself. I let my nephew know that it will be another day or two before I can send him the money…I’m glad they’re here for two weeks and don’t need it right away!

Yay! :tada:

This is the opposite of what I usually do to my BFFs and my two other closest friends, all of whom are 10-13 years older than me.

Ooooo I love mint tea.

Wouldn’t that actually be a frog-pummeler?

OK, I’m recovered after the sewing fiasco. I’m pretty sure I’ve got it figured out, so after we get back from seeing our money guy, I’ll get back to it. Here’s hoping.

So, the rest of tonight is chillage.

Sew…chillage.

Howdy Y’all! RDOS inactivities have indeed ruled the day. Except for the makeage of sup which required effort. Sup was excellent, however, with leftovers for tomorrow. Been rainy off and on with a couple of tstorms thrown in. We sat out on the back porch and watched one whist we quaffed beerverages. We live such hard lives!

Went to orientation. I am to download Whatsapp but it may take 10 hours.
I was the only one there over 25 so I thank them for hiring a senior.
We are to be trained on all the posts but I will shine as a cashier.

Was a good work day. A former co-worker is on the new NIH project. I haven’t seen her for 20 years, it was nice to catch up. Seh’s been doing graphic design work for the museum in the interim, but she’s actually back in town for a week long intensive design phase.

I aggressively did not mow the lawn today, it looked like t-storms.

coppertone Congrats on landing a gig!!

Evening all. I remain in the good graces of the Weather Wizards, no rain when I came out of the gym, but as soon as I got into the car it started pouring. Just finished my Whataburger (had $$ left on a gift card, used all but .08 cents of it) so belly is full and wallet is happy. Kidneys decided to put in time and a half today, have had to go 8 times already and my output is nearly 4 liters, so hopefully they’ll take a break for the rest of the evening. Nothing much planned, need to write out my trip and e-mail it to my brother and Sis-in-Law in case the plane is hijacked or the ship sinks…neighbors will get his number to report if a meteor hits the house or something.

Oh, and checked my weight for the first time in awhile, I started the year at 202.2lbs and 5 1/2 months later I am at…202.4, so looks like the stabilization plan is working, and with the weight work it is hopefully getting in better shape.

And 15 new messages for the Elder to Scroll…

Cupcakes, it would have been the most Christian thing to invite them, and also the most Schadenfreudy thing I can think of. Them folks ain’t right in the head…

FCM, bad words are allowed when screwups take place, I rather think it’s a universal thing.

rose, that’s a beautiful pic.

Cookie. well, that does make some sense, and shows a city that does care about it’s infrastructure (I’ve lived in places that didn’t, I suspect you and other MMPers have too, and it ain’t fun).

Oopsie, sorry the money is tied up, you’d think they would have a fix for it figured out better than ‘wait for it to freeze and then do it all over again’, I seriously doubt you are the only person to do that.

Coppertone, glad the new job is apparently going to work out for you.

VanGo, nice to catch up, pretty good memory (or pretty good co-worker) to remember them for 20 years.

And onward into the evening; still dripping rain outside, but temperature is down to 70F so the HVAC can have some time off.

Up from naptime, watching the Cup Finals, and having an Old Fashioned, and cheeseburger with Carolina Reaper cheese. I dreamed I didn’t do my 3 art class assignments, but did 100 cartoons instead.

Nice.

Me as well.

You have a 14.4 modem or something? But congrats on the job.
