I only get 5 gb a month. If I paid more, I’d have unlimited. When the gb runs out, it goes sloow.
Is there wifi at the library?
Yes. It just downloaded. That was faster than I thought.
And a late night final, nothing much to report over the last 3 hours, but
Count me in.
And good night all.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Woke at 3. Still awake at 5. Gonna be a long day. Dammit.
Happy Tuesday, I guess.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and drizzly with a predicted high of 87 with rain off and on. Today is laundry day. I suppose a rainy day is as good a day as any to do laundry. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Plus it’s a good day to be inside and dry. Sup shall be leftovers, so nuke and eat.
Coppertone glad you found what appears to be a gig that will work out. Glad the app downloaded successfully without too much pain.
CupCakes your church is doin’ sump’n right when WBC scum shows up to protest.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
FCM I hope that a nap is in your future and that afterwards you and your sewing project will get along.
Coppertone congrats on the job and download!
I’ve been up since 4 myself. I switched pillows and it was not conducive to sleep and my neck being happy.
Today I’m going to see the ENT about my hearing issue. I hope there is something that can be done for what I’m suspecting is tinnitus. But I’ll just wait and see. Before or after I may sneak into Michael’s and use the $45 credit that I have from my Capital One card. Just about now it’s going to be time for breakfast.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/61f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and cloudy. Weather app says “How fucking typical. Another shitty overcast day.” There’s a glimmer of sun outside, we should be grateful for that.

Only 6 more days of this.
I am sure Ariel appreciates you coming to give her meds twice a day though
Pilot sounds like you had a fun weekend, poor GF must have been mortified when the old fling appeared, glad you were able to deal with it like adults!

Guess I inadvertently decided to celebrate an anniversary I didn’t know existed by taking the train in to work today.
It’s as good a reason as any!

She loves playing with that, although it’s mostly me doing all the work while she “hides” and watches, occasionally leaping for it as it passes by.
Cherry likes to watch Blossom chasing the laser pointer, Blossom also likes to watch the laser pointer moving around and takes her time deciding when she actually wants to try catching it.

Tired today and waiting for the appointment with my therapist
I’m sorry you missed the chocolate walk, but having chocolate at home is almost as good. I hope the therapist helps.

Yesterday, as I approached the drive, I saw a whole clump of WBC picketers greeting us with their ugly signs.
Oh, the poor dears, but they do say that God loves those who try, right? And those people are very trying.

Did you hear the cussin’??
There were ripples in the force, it had to be you even though I knew you weren’t dusting! I hope a break from the sewing and fresh eyes will help you next time.
lily the new rose is beautiful.

At least I caught it before I actually sent the money, but I’m pretty annoyed with myself
It’s a good thing that you caught it before a complete stranger got an unexpected bonus. Sorry to hear that you have to wait for so many things to happen before you can send the payment though, that’s a proper pain in the backside.

A former co-worker is on the new NIH project. I haven’t seen her for 20 years, it was nice to catch up.
That’s nice, always good to catch up with people you worked with and whose company you enjoy.
Work was busy yesterday, we are just over a week away from the exam boards so there’s a lot going on for me. I logged out at 4pm, went to see the dental hygienist to get my toothies scraped and polished like a good 'un, then came home and logged back in for half an hour to finish some stuff off.
It’s bin day today so yesterday after dinner (leftover curry!), I collected up all the recycling and put that out before hauling the biiiiig bin to the kerb for today’s collection. I heard the dustcart coming up the road about 7am so it’s a good thing I always put it out the night before.
Today I have lots of fiddly little things to do, we have some late marks so I need to re-run reports and replace previously approved stuff with newly-approved stuff. Students with programme transfers need some attention, and I have to chase up other parts of the university for missing marks. At some point today I also have to make food for campus, only going two days this week as I have a new mattress being delivered on Friday morning.
Right now though, it’s time for more tea!
Mornin’ all - not quite sunrise yet, pretty puffies out over the water, & NWS sez it’s a lush tropical 81/27 outside expected to top out around 88/31. Caffinatin’ is goin’ well, GF is still snoozing for a little while longer, & I’m catchin’ up w the Mumpers. All is right with (my small part of) the world.
Our yesterday was excellent with lots of simple togetherness and yakking and good lunch and dinner. Today will be abbreviated: cuddle, shevel, breakfast, & go our separate ways. She’s got stuff to do and I have a well-baby visit at 11. Thereafter shall be restockin’ the larder & general solo RDOSing.
Next weekend she’ll be visiting her 92yo father out of town for Father’s day, and the following weekend is also looking difficult for her. Bottom line being we may have a 3 week break here except for maybe a low-rent rendezvous somewhere on a midweek somewhere. Sigh. Gonna be difficult.
I’m leaning towards traveling somewhere to do something. That’s really where I ought to put my afternoon efforts.

At least I caught it before I actually sent the money
Guess I don’t understand how that works - if someone accidentally puts my number in and sends me money, how do I receive it? It’s not like my phone is directly linked to my bank account.
I managed to fall back to sleep for a couple more hours, for a grand total of 6 maybe? Today’s big adventure is the meeting at 10 with our money guy. We’ve got some questions and at least one issue to be resolved. Then after we get home, I’ll head back to my sewing, hoping I’ll finally get it right.
I saw the back railing is a bit wet, but the forecast chance of rain is only 30%. Radar shows nothing till maybe early afternoon. So all the promised precip came to mostly nothing. Alas. And we’re supposed to finally hit the 90s at the end of the week.
Meanwhile, it’s my computer time.

Guess I don’t understand how that works - if someone accidentally puts my number in and sends me money, how do I receive it? It’s not like my phone is directly linked to my bank account.
If you are already signed up for Zelle, then yes, your phone number can be used by Zelle to look up your bank account. And if so, Zelle will simply take the money they got from @Misnomer and stuff it into your bank account. And send you a text to tell you what they did.
If you are NOT already signed up for Zelle, Zelle will instead send a text message to your phone saying “@Misnomer is trying to send you $whatever via Zelle. To receive the payment, go to your bank and sign up for Zelle and then we’ll give the money to you. And forever after you’ll have use of Zelle, the modern no-cost way to pay people and small businesses.”
If you ignore the text, the money sits in limbo for a few days then Zelle gives it back to @Misnomer. And as she described, she can sorta chivvy that process along a little bit. But during that limbo, Zelle already has her money. So if she wanted to pay somebody else (like the correct payee), she’s gonna need more and different dollars to do it with.
The only real downside to Zelle is that if you fumble-finger who you’re sending to, and that number or email already has a Zelle account, once you push [send the payment], you’re done. That money is gone forever. No different than if you snail-mailed a bunch of cash to some random person & address you picked from the phone book.
OTH, you only have to get that right once. Once e.g. @Misnomer has e.g. @FairyChatMom in her Zelle contacts, any future payments go to the right place.
Yanno, I’m not anti-technology or anything, but Zelle (and VenMo) don’t appeal. One of my sisters made me do VenMo once, but afterwards, I deleted the app. I don’t like the idea of giving anyone access to my banking info. Yeah, I know, I’ve allowed direct debit in the past, but I still didn’t like it.
Good morning!
It’s 54°F and sunny outside. Sunrise occurred just under 45 minutes ago. Today’s expected high is 85°F, and it’ll be mainly sunny. So, still a little too toasty outside.
I don’t have either Venmo or Zelle. I suppose I should get with the times, but like FCM, I’m just leery of my banking information being so accessible.
Other than sweeping the floor, breaking down cardboard for recycling, and cleaning the kitchen. I was a sloth. Oh, I watered all the plants, too.
I need to be productive today.
Well, I suppose I should get on with the day. I’m finishing my coffee, and then I need to shower and shevel so I’ll be presentable for the public.
I wish you all a smooth, easy day.
Morning all. Rain is not predicted for today (we’ll see…) and due to make it to 86F, so should be be a nice day. Have broken fast with a big Bowl O’Cereal, and have done my 2025 donations (I collect all the info from places I may want donate too over the year and then once a year I do all of my donating at once–don’t say it’s the best method but its’ mine). And FCM/Pilot, most of it is by check; it is my one big check-writing activity for the year and while I could do it by credit card, I prefer the tradition (Tradition!!) of making out, recording, and mailing out the checks. I’ve never used Zelle or Venmo yet, will occasionally use Paypal and have all my monthly bills on direct debit so I’m not completely a Luddite, but sometimes the old ways ain’t bad…
So now have to stop at the Post Office to do mailage and maybe the Mart of Wal for a couple things, but otherwise my major work of the day is done. Exercise is probably a good idea, but like the weather, we’ll see…
FCM, bladder let me sleep until 5:30am and laid about the bed until 6am, guess that is my new wakeup time.
Swampy, happy laundrying. Sounds like you have my Moanday weather today.
Sticky Buns, hope the ENT can help. I have my annual check-up with them scheduled for September.
Pilot, happy traveling, even if you have to do it solo.
And that’s all for the morning report. The Frosted Flakes are settling nicely in my belly and need to get the garbage out and bags changed, so catch y’all later.
it would mean multiple accounts to safe guard your funds.
for example i use my credit union for the majority of my day to day use. i have a checking account that takes direct deposit and is not attached to a card. i transfer funds to an account with a card or bill pay. should someone get my card (has happened) they can not clear out my account. only what is attached to my card.
you could set up an account that is only for zelle or venmo that doesn’t impact any of your everyday banking info.
I pay board and the farrier via Zelle. The barn has been known to misplace checks or not see them for a month. The place needs a bookkeeper (a word with three sets of double letters in a row). I still write checks for certain things, but I had a doctor’s office tell me they didn’t know how to deposit checks cuz nobody writes checks. So learn.

This is pretty much how I do it. Funds go into the account without a card, get transferred to the one wit as needed. IME, if you have a banking app on your device, the app will require your device to have a PIN.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, fixing to do KP and make phone calls.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Shaping up to be a dull day. Happily, this coming weekend will see visitations upon us from three different family members.
Today’s breakfast was brought to you by New Yorker Bagels. A pumpernickel slathered with salmon cream cheese, topped with bacon and tomato slices. A side of cheesy scrambled egg and a bowl of fruit.

you could set up an account that is only for zelle or venmo that doesn’t impact any of your everyday banking info.
I considered that, but as it is, I manage 4 accounts and I’m joint on a 5th - I don’t need another, TYVM! Not like anyone is waiting in line to give me money anyway. Can you imagine? No love offerings of cash!
We had a nice, long chat with our money guy and Iearned a lot I didn’t know or understand. Like the account I set up for the grands’ education is, in fact, an IRA and I have to start drawing from it when I turn 73. Unless the rules change, which may well happen. Anyway, closer to that time, we’ll figure out the best way to handle that account. We also talked to Dave about our CD and our annuities and our financial situation in general. It was an informative session.
Next we ran to the boat because FCD wanted to check something out. I took a moment to look at the seats I’m making cushions for - no cussing involved, just intelligence gathering. Then we went to Olive Garden for soup and salad. And a nice surprise from the server - we only wanted one bowl of soup, so she brought us a serving each to-go! Guess I know what’s for supper tonight!
FCD has decided he wants a cane. We had several and I thought they were in the attic, but it appears we donated them along with some walkers and a wheelchair. So he’ll be shopping for one before we leave. I know this is a difficult decision for him, but personally, I think it’s overdue. I can also see a scooter in his future…
Thursday it’s supposed to hit 90, so I’ll take the grands to the pool at the marina. SIL will drop them and the dog here in the morning. Then after lunch, we’ll take Trevor home and I’ll head across the bridge with the kids. Which means I’ll have to wear my swimsuit, too. I can’t leave Tobias in the water alone, and watching from the side is a bad idea. So I guess I’ll swim too.
Now, do I go to the basement? I don’t want to. But I should. Dammit. Even if only to tidy a bit.
