(Old) GoGo on Vacation - A Holiday MMP

FCM, here’s Amaury Guichon making a chocolate minion:

Mrs Magill and I almost bought five bunches of kale this evening
for a rabbit who is no more.
I have lost many pets, and Mauser weighs heavily on me. It never gets easier.

I am sorry that I sounded flippant before, but Rick Springfield is the best name for a successor for a Mauser.

Down the beach for sinner tonight. I had a Caesar salad sans croutons, and two Rob Roys. There’s a staph beating tomorrow, so I need to be at irk before 08:30. The electrician is coming at 07:00 to start rewiring the house, so I’ll skip my walk and shave and shower early. (I usually do that at 07:00.) Planning on a bacon/egg/cheese/Tapatio breakfast burrito tomorrow.

Oh, the meeting. There will be doughnuts, which I will not eat. Lunch is pizza from Coconut Kenny’s. I won’t eat that either. I’ll buy my own salad from Trader Joe’s. (Today I had TJ’s egg salad.)

Sheesh, your workplace is terrible about respecting dietary restrictions and offering a healthy variety.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/58f with a predicted high of 23c/73f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Enjoy this fucking mild weather. Shitty, stupid fucking weather will soon be here again.”

Lucky your peach habanero jam sound delicious!

{{{{{Cupcakes}}}}} I am so sorry to hear about Mauser, but you know you made the right decision for him and he was loved right up to the end.

52 It’s fortunate that you were there to call the police, and good news that nothing appears to have been taken. Not the greatest of introductions to the neighbourhood though.

flyboy It’s nice that your irkplace is offering an incentive to attend the beating, but such a shame they’re not taking note of dietary requirements for those who can’t eat doughnuts and pizza.

Yesterday was a fun day in the madhouse. Team Manager forgot her laptop so she had to go back home and decided to work from there (so she’s in the office today). We were supposed to meet yesterday and have rescheduled for today so we can chat in person. I did have my meeting with Troublesome Minion, who has given me chapter and verse on everything that’s wrong with the new student records stuff, what she thinks they should have done, what they need to do and when, and a host of other things she’s speculating about. I could have done with a lie-down after that.

I got home early to find the Heritage Centre down the road was having an event for Jamaican independence day. That meant their visitors had double-parked all the way up the street, blocking junctions and making the street into a single lane. Apparently they had someone outside their premises “directing traffic” but that seems to have made things much worse. There was likely to be a fight at one point with a lot of irritated motorists unable to get out at the bottom of the street and unable to back up (because of all the cars behind) or turn round to get out at the top end.

Our new catsitters came to inspect us  so I message them and warned them to park at the very top of the road. They’re nice people, and they were fortunate enough to see Muffin before she hot-pawed it into her bookshelf hidey-hole. No chance of seeing the other two, as soon as they heard the front door, they shot up the stairs and were probably hiding under the bed. Anyway, paperwork’s been signed and keys have been handed over so we know the mogs will be looked after while we’re away next week.

Back on campus today, one meeting with New Boss and not a lot else on my list today. There’s not much point in starting anything major since I’m on holiday next week. Whatever’s going on will still be there when I get back. New Boss is also on leave next week, so no idea who TM will find to harrass and harangue without either of us there.

Up, preparing to shevel. Would rather be still in bed.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ (finally)! YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and becomin’ cloudy. I awoke to a power outage, hence the finally remark re caffeination. Power came back on about fifteen minutes ago. HUZZAH! I awoke at four-thirty due to an alert on my phone from Jawja Power about the outage. OYKW, of course, went right back to sleep, but I couldn’t. Nappage will definitely be in my future. As I mentioned yestiddy, we shall get shorn, then I shall deal with candle and other duties, then we will be bears who brunch and then most likely come back to da cave as I can’t imagine bein’ in a mood to ramble after the rude awakenin’ I had. Brunch will be the main need to feed, so any other need will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy so’s I can take meds. Then, I suppose purtification and the donnin’ of acceptable attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed must happen.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Done. I’m so sorry~I will be thinking of you.:candle::candle: :candle:

OMG - that is amazing!! Many of his techniques are things I do (OK, did) with clay. What a talent!! And now I want chocolate, dammit.

Going to the beach is punishment for a sinner??? Must be a nasty beach.

I had a pretty good sleep, sans Mel, despite being up a bit past midnight. We had a late lunch at Salsa’s and I kinda over-caffeinated, which is what probably kept me up. But I slept past 7, and that is truly unusual for me.

I’d forgotten that this is laundry day when I made plans yesterday to clean the last small section of the garage. But I think I can manage both. We shall see. Mostly I’ll wing it today. We started around 71 Ferrets, heading to low 90s and small chance of rain towards midnight, so hot and sunny - like summer.

Last night, I watched the movie The Red Shoes. I came across it while scrolling thru Tubi’s offerings and chose it out of curiosity. All I knew about it was that it was mentioned in A Chorus Line. So now I know. I thought it was OK, and it’d be interesting to see how it might be remade today instead of the 1948 version. Google shows a Korean horror version made in 2005 based on the same fairy tale, but I think I’ll pass on that. Anyway, it gave me something to watch while crocheting, and my frustrated inner ballerina did enjoy the dancing.

And so the day begins. Happy Firday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m going to take Carmen to the carwash today, and the ABC Store. Spot is watching his shows in the sunroom.

People stopped at random on the campus?

Meh. My choices. And I’ve only been there four months. I’ll just nip over to TJ’s for a salad or something. We don’t take lunches together, since we’re open all day. So no one will notice what I eat.

The ‘s’ and the ‘d’’ keys swapped places when I wasn’t looking.

I went back to it later and figured out what was going on. Thursday always has some sort of trick to it. I can usually finish Friday as well, although sometimes it’s just too damned difficult.

baker, i’m so sorry.

Friday is here. We have a dense fog advisory, with 67 ferrets, rising later to 84. We might open up the house, but today and tomorrow will bring the sounds of go kart racing. This has been variously compared to a swarm of hornets and a mob of angry chainsaws.

The NYT crossword puzzle has a rebus button that allows you to cram more than one letter in a single square. That is often involved in solving some of their trickier puzzles. Still, I often have some “cross words” to say about the puzzle writers.

Good morning! I was up with my walking alarm this morning. It was 75ºF with a dew point of 71º, so it was a little sticky, but not too bad. Chloé and I had a good walk. The sunset last night was spectacular, but I was driving, so no photos. The sunrise this morning was only okay in comparison.

We had Band stuff Wednesday night, so Mrs Magill and I had our “Date Night” last night. We picked up some kielbasa and more onions to go with some of the potatoes we’d dug up last week. That’s dinner tonight. I have my support group meeting tomorrow, so while Mollie gets to be with her friends, the rest of the Magill family will need to fend for themselves. Sunday, I’ll make fettuccini alfredo at Spike’s request. I’m also making more cheesy sausage biscuits for the meeting, but since I have a full house this time, I’ll have to double the recipe. There would be a great outcry and general revolt if I were to not have enough for everyone.

After the Costco/Wally world run, Mrs Magill noted that it was still early, and we really should get ice cream. That woman has my number.

I was picturing something along the lines of the comfy chair torture the the Spanish Inquisition was known for.

Morning all. Up about 6:30am and decided to do my Firday shopping prior to the kids getting picked up for school (and hopefully finish just about the time school starts). Only problem was I could not find my shopping list (still can’t) so had to do my best guessing. Worked out pretty good, the elementarys were just starting as I loaded the car and only one bus stopped me for Jr/Sr. High pickup. Everything is where it should be, including a couple Thomas English Muffins in my belly. Nothing too much planned for today, might be some soccer stuff this afternoon if the weather cooperates (45% chance of rain according to the Weather Wizards). 80F now heading to 90F so working outdoors will be limited. Main goal is to work up enough ambition to put my new desk chair together, which is always so much fun…

boo fae, one nice thing about being in a cul-de-sac is I don’t have to worry about thru traffic. Hope there is no other Independence Days scheduled there in the near future…

swampy, happy shearing day.

Knots, those are apt descriptions for go-kart sounds.

Mollie, cooking sounds good. And ice cream will win any heart, IMHO.

That’s all for now. Need to get the box cutters out and start on that chair.

Do the elementary schools there start before Jr/Sr high? Here the oldest go first and the littles are last, which makes sense for teens with after-school jobs.

Laundry is started. FCD has gone to McD’s for a fountain drink and Otis went along for his sausage biscuit because someone spoils him. I’m going to do some non-weeding yard work in the back between laundry loads Not sure what else will happen. It’s a journey into the unknown!!!

Yes, the elementary day starts at 7:40am and the Jr.Sr. Highs about 8:10am. Why, I don’t know.

Everyone has a price. Mine happens to be ice cream.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 60F and clear outside. Today’s daytime expected daytime high is 89F, with sunny skies. AQI is 128 which is unhealthy for sensitive groups, but is a huge improvement from the 188 AQI on Wednesday and yesterday. It’s nice to see some blue instead of mustard or brown.

Cupcakes, I’m so sorry about Mauser. Sending you hugs.

I am also not a fan of Chik-Fil-A. The texture of the chicken is strange, and I don’t like it.

It’s been a busy few days, but today things are back to “normal”.

The kids showed up Tuesday evening and we hung out. They had spent the day with my mother and were shocked at her decline because they haven’t seen her in three years. But, they took her to lunch, and tried to take her to the waterfront, despite her probably not being able to walk much at all. However, they gave up on the waterfront thing because my mother was all confused about how to get there. There have been many improvements since she was down there.

On Wednesday, the kids arrived around 9:00 in the morning, and we headed out to Northwest Trek. We rode the tram and saw the bison, some mountain goats, a heard of Roosevelt Elk, deer, and a giant raven. This guy was enormous, even for a raven. He was quite vocal, too. The tram had to stop to let the bison finish crossing the road, and I could have touched one of the bison who came right up to the tram. No hands out the window, though. We also got to see a grizzly bear lounging in his water feature, and we spent some time watching him. We saw black bears, in another enclosure. Seeing the bears was surprising because they are usually napping at that time of day. We saw foxes, bobcats, and others in the feline family, along with owls, bald and golden eagles, and think that’s about it. The AQI was becoming progressively worse, it was hot and the kids were kind of cranky about all the walking, despite us letting them playing the kids’ Northwest Trek area twice. They really enjoyed clambering all over netting, the bridges, and the water features. The water features were set up so the kids could play in them.

On the way home, we stopped at the butcher shop, and then the grocery store. We came home, played with the big RC car, and hung out. We ate, and hung out some more, and we turned the kids on to Pluribus, which is a series on Apple that Mr. Taters and I really enjoyed.

The kids left yesterday around noon and headed north. They had an appointment and Zoe wanted to see the park she used play in when she lived here. They booked a hotel for last night since they had to be up so early today for their flight home. They should be in the air now, I think.

After the kids left, we just hung out were RDOSs. I received a last minute invitation from my friend T to go to a concert at the White River Amphitheater, but my husband didn’t want to go, so I had to decline. I mean, I could have gone, but I was tired. I didn’t sleep well the previous night due to severe stomach issues, and was wrung out anyway. Maybe another time.

I don’t think there is anything on today’s agenda. Posey care, obviously, but that’s pretty much it besides the standard kitchen cleaning and house tidying.

Well, I guess I should get going. Please take care of yourselves.
