(Old) GoGo on Vacation - A Holiday MMP

Time has been wiled away, some You Tubes and some soccer stuff (season starts in about a week). Was feeling a bit quirky so listened to a couple tunes everyone will recognize but probably haven’t watched in a while–“AxelF by Crazy Frog” and “Gangnam Style”. Yeah, old stuff, but they still bring a smile to my face. Going to turn in early tonight and see if I can get up at an earlier hour tomorrow morning, sleeping in is fine but it does discombobulate my day a bit.

VanGo, listening to the music while I type this, and while not my preferred style, it is smooth and easy to listen to and thanks for introducing it to me.

doggio, love that running ghost dog.

shoe, better a bit behind than a big be…(ducks thrown waffle iron). And thanks for your music contribution, again not my usual style, but very pleasant to listen too on a mellow night.

Never have used earbuds, unless you want to count my hearing aids as such, but they help me to hear, not block it.

Lily, at first glance I was trying to figure out how much a scallion was…but I see that I was mistaken…

Cupcakes, happy needling.

And time to head off to bed, I think. Catch y’all tomorrow.

ETA: As for music I never get tired of…here’s mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73x16ne6auo

Wuffie!

I had to look up the Lenovo Center. I really need to win the Powerball, so I can name the ESA after Jim Valvano.

Bedtime. Vacation is halfway over.

I  You.

Only if you’re in Cary N.C.

No, I want him to take less in the first place. But it’s not worth an argument.

It’s late. I sleep now.

:sleeping_face::sleeping_face::sleeping_face:

I had three pocket knives in the living room. A cheap Chinese copy of a Bundeswehr pocket knife lives on the hearth, It’s for slicing open shrink-wrapped firewood and kindling, on the occasions that we buy it. It doesn’t get used much, but that’s what it’s there for. (I have an actual, issue, Bundeswehr pocket knife in my collection.) A Case fishing pocket knife was on a basket on the coffee table. And there was a Victorinox one-handed Soldier’s knife on a table. Mrs. L.A. went on a cleaning binge in preparation for the new furniture. The fireplace knife is in its place. The Case fishing knife is on top of the basket, which she’d moved to a table. The Victorinox that was on the table… She put it into a basket in her room. When I asked about it (I’m a bit like a cat – I like things in their proper places) she mocked me for having so many knives. I dare not retrieve it. I put a new one into my Amazon shopping cart, but the price increased from $34 I paid for it a decade ago, to more than $70. So I’ve ordered one from a seller on eBay for $62.73. I’ll keep it in my collection. If I ‘need’ it, I’ll ask for the original one.

I ate a LOT tonight. Ironically, that makes me want MOAR!!! but I have no physical space for it in my tummy. (Ye gods but that crusty roll was goooood.)

So I’m having a restorative hot black cuppa Lipton, with an equally restorative warm black cat draped across my thigh, before I tuck in for the night.

Which brings back a memory of my mother hosting one of her friends around dinnertime-ish or maybe a bit later. My mom started fixing her zillionth cuppa of the day, and of course offered her friend one … who was quietly & very politely HORRIFIED at the mere thought of drinking tea so close to bedtime. I mean, the sun had almost set!

“I NEVER drink tea after 2 p.m.!” which, in turn, somewhat horrified my mother.

The very idea, a civilized woman NOT having a nice, calming tea before bed.

And no, my mother didn’t touch decaf. The nerve, you even thinking such hideous thoughts amongst yourselves.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and becomin’ cloudy early afternoon with a chance of rain late afternoon into the evenin’. I shall betake myself over to the church house this mornin’ to do stuff. There will be a funeral tomorrow afternoon, in which I will serve. Thus, the need to get things ready for that today. After the funeral and reception tomorrow afternoon I get to set up for Sunday. My life is fraught with such excitatement! The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS sloth, I promise. Sup will be burgers 'n fixin’s with the rest of the N.O.T. sallit.

Anybody else disturbed by the partially eaten moldy cookie in the bottom left corner of the screen?

Mollie I agree about the Chick-fil-a sammiches. The chikin is just not good. I call it Ick-fil-a. Hope spike is able to set his internal clock. Good luck on the goals you set for yourself.

shoe glad you fed yourself a decent amount. I try to hold off on caffeine after five p.m. I find it makes for a better sleep time for me, but you do you.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/61f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “My fucking joints are aching. It must mean the fucking weather’s changing for the 365th day this year.”

I live in hope, more than expectation

I’m sure it’s buried in your genes somewhere, that kind of thing never goes away! I’m glad to hear your therapy session went well, and you have a new plan now. I think it’s good to recognise things about yourself that you don’t like, and there’s nothing wrong in wanting to change some of those things. Some might not be possible, some might only be partially possible, but we all dream, don’t we?

Yesterday was not a bad day in the end. It was relatively cool in the house compared to the last week or so and I only had one fan going in the bedroom overnight. Today the office fairly quiet, I’ve had a meeting with Troublesome Minion during which she has told me everything that’s wrong with the new systems that are being brought in. I can do nothing about that, it’s a commercially-available system, not a bespoke one like we’ve been used to, and things are different. She will have to get used to it.

I should have had a 1-1 meeting with my boss this afternoon but she got to the office and had to go back home because she forgot her laptop, so she’s working from there today and coming to campus tomorrow. We’ll have our meeting in the morning instead, so we can do it in person.

Much excitement in the house tonight though, we are having a visit from the new catsitters who will be looking after the mogs next week. I doubt they’ll see any of the cats, they’re not exactly enamoured of strangers  I had to send our previous catsitter a photo of Muffin because she never saw the whole cat, just whichever bit might have poked out from the bookshelf!

I am (or should be) the same way about Diet Coke. If I have any past about noon, I won’t be falling asleep before midnight. FCD, on the other hand, could have an IV drip of caffeine and sleep right thru it. Much like soapy cilantro, I find it interesting how different foods and drinks affect different people. We humans are an interesting lot.

Today starts with 72 Ferrets, theoretically heading for 91 of the sneaky critters. No rain in the forecast, so they say. Our main plan is loading the truck for a major trip to the convenience center. There’s all the garbage I sorted from the garage, plus FCD’s shop trash, plus a metric butt ton (butt liter?) of oil and antifreeze to recycle. There’s so much that we’ll both go.

I noticed this morning that my last cuke on the vine is not there. A certain canine does love him some cukes. So maybe no mystery there. The thing was decidedly too big for a squirrel to carry off.

FCD found 2 missing dog toys last night. There are still 2 others that are AWOL - Otis took them outside, so they could be anywhere in the 2 acres of yard. I don’t care too much about the tennis ball - they’re pretty cheap. But the other one was a bit pricier and he hasn’t had it a month yet. It’s one of those rare things that seems to tolerate enthusiastic chewing. We’ve had to throw away more toys that he’s destroyed, sometimes within minutes.

Last night, I was watching a documentary on Prime about the series MASH that talked about its development and evolution as cast members left and returned. It was rather jolting seeing how some of them had aged. But it was also interesting to learn how and why some of the episodes were done. And it was jolting to learn that only 4 of the main cast members are still alive - Hawkeye, Radar, BJ, and Klinger. Then again, it has been a few years since it ran ('72-'83)

And so begins my day. We shall see how it unfolds.

Happy Thursday!

Afternoon.

No sneaky scuttling off for me today… I have some laundry on the line, but that’s the limit of the extra-curriculars (this is lunch break, that’s allowed).

Found out something funny a few days ago.The programme several of the other stoodints here are on was obviously designed by people really keen on networking. It has a load of team building stuff, like they had to organise a mini conference together, they have regular group events with stoodints at other sites.

Two of the stoodints have the same primary supervisor who has been very clear from the start she considers this all a bunch of nonsense and a waste of time. The two of 'em were both regularly getting lectures from her about spending too much time socialising and how it was a distraction, even when it was actually a requirement of the programme. They’d get complained at if she saw them hanging round with other students for lunch, because they should be focusing on work, not distracting themselves making friends.

Anyway, as of last weekend, both of them have now got married to another student they met either at one of the events or from another programme on site. I think the supervisor lost that battle!

One of my aunts was a knitter, and one of her projects was a sweater that used up a lot of leftover yarn. It was a glorious mishmash of different colors. When she wore it, she got a lot of knowing glances from fellow knitters.

I just heard that parts of Elkhart’s streets will be blocked off for an annual go-kart race on parts of Friday and Saturday. My calendar doesn’t show anything we have to go anywhere for on those days.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Halfway through vacation. It’s Senior Day, so I shall hit Teeter.

Spot’s the same.

A show about the Korean War that lasted 3 times as long as the war itself(at least Part 1).

Morning all. Up earlier and have broken fast already (finished off my box of Cheerios), so need to go through the Kroger digital coupons for the week (there are 302 posted) and see if there is anything I need to ‘clip’, and since the sun is out and it’s relatively cool, might even pull some weeds this morning…we’ll see. Some soccer this late afternoon to keep me busy but otherwise a pretty quiet day.

ESA? Looked in the acronym finder and there’s dozens of references.

Flyboy, don’t think I have owned a pocket knife all my adult life, but hope Mrs. LA doesn’t check the Amazon pages too closely…

shoe, I try not to drink too much fluids late (and not a tea person, I get my caffeine from Diet Pepsi/Pepsi Zero) but everyone has their own quirks on that topic, IMHO.

Swampy, happy churchifying.

FCM, happy dumping. And I still watch MASH on MeTV when I can, the last 4-5 seasons were among the best TV can do, IMHO.

Nut, glad the students made time for their public lives too; all work and no play…

And that’s all for now. Those coupons won’t digitally clip themselves, after all. Have a good Thorsday.

Like your mom’s friend and FCM, I also cannot drink real tea after about midday, or I’ll be up all night. I really love iced milk tea with boba, and you can find tea cafes everywhere here serving it. But hardly any of these cafes open before noon, and I have to leave off the tea drinking before then. Only a couple of times a year do I come across one that’s open in the morning when I drive past, and that’s when I treat myself to a milk tea. I suppose that’s a good thing, because milk teas are sugar bombs and I shouldn’t drink them very often.

Geez, that phlebotomist left an ugly big blood bruise in the crook of my elbow. If I happen to be arrested for something today, a cop would suspect that I was a junky, and a clumsy one at that.

I was going to make peach habanero jam this morning, but I just discovered that I’m out of lemons, and I need 1/3 cup of lemon juice for my recipe. Well, jam-making will happen tomorrow instead, and today I’m going to see if Mr. brown wants to go out to breakfast, because local schools are on summer break for only a few more days and at the moment the roads will be relatively clear between here and our favorite breakfast place. Once school starts, though, it’ll be miles-long traffic jams during morning commute hours.

Good morning. As it turns out, I did not hit snooze on my walking alarm. Ah, well. I guess I needed that extra ninety minutes of sleep.

Oh yeah - I had to take Mrs Magill’s Highlander and put all the seats down. The events coordinator had put in a smaller order than usual, so we were policing the kids on the number of sandwiches they could take. One of the kids I chaperoned in NYC tried to sneak a second sandwich. I told him that I’ll pull a Sgt. Schultz for a small fee. I amused myself at least.

The Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.

I used to have to follow this, but I haven’t had insomnia in several months. Again - tackling the root cause of my mental health issues.

He was in bed by seven-thirty last night and up at five this morning, apparently he had planned to walk with me and Chloé. Oops. He wants to be completely reset, so he and Fang can spend all day Saturday playing Warhammer online.

When NC State’s replacement for Reynold’s Colosseum was built, it was called the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Oh yeah - there’s also some upstart hockey team that plays there.

I hate when that happens. I have a vein that looks so inviting and easy to poke, but it just leads to bruising and disappointment.

I haven’t seen recent pictures of Gary Burghoff or Mike Farrell , but Alan Alda just seems to get thinner and Jamie Farr seems to shrink whenever I see them on TV. Having filmed their last episode ~43 years ago, yeah, a lot of them are gone.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, infused and fixing to do KP. I feel good enough to grocery shop today, which is a good thing, as I’m nearly out of some stuff.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Another sunny but hazy morning. Breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Gotta do laundry later. It’s also housecreeping day. The excitement never stops.

Sadie is really hating the eye drops, but only 3-1/2 days to go and her eyes look better.

Finished most of the puzzles, but the NYT kicked my ass. Thursdays are usually tricky, but doable, but today’s was just misery.

FcM What are these mythical items that defy vigorous chewers? I have yet to find anything Ms Peach can’t kill, aside from her pupsicle. I think she leaves that since it provides frozen peanut butter.

There’s a whole thread about it. Short answer: you’re not the only one who has opinions on the matter.

Oh, jeebus, I start my shift at either 3 or 4 p.m. I’ve watched coworkers CHUG a whole entire Monster caffeine can at 1:30 a.m.

Diff’rent strokes, for diff’rent folks. :musical_notes:

Heh.

Also heh.

I was so happy when this tiny little village got a boba tea shop. It’s :money_mouth_face: but also delishush. Working my way through their little reward clippy-card.

Oh, there’s a “that’s what she said” joke just waiting to happen.

I’m done making peach habanero jam, and good lord, that stuff is scrumptious. It’s made with ripe peaches from our local stone fruit orchard, and there are one and a half large habaneros minced fine and mixed in. I read that it’s superb on a plain bagel which has been spread first with a bit of cream cheese. I think that’s what my breakfast tomorrow will be.
