[Old] GoGo On Vacation! -A Holiday MMP

Here’s hoping Monkey didn’t get too stoned to find his way back home.

And now I’m getting irritated with the flower company. I ordered stuff for my Mom for Mom’s day, but their out of town then. The tracking info has said “out for delivery” all day. "Tis now 7 pm. I don’t believe them.

for a few days I’ve been meaning to ask if anyone has heard from Nellie. It seems that I haven’t seen her post for longer than normal.

boofae you’ll have to give the train operators a nice thank you for striking so you could work from home so you could be able to get ready for the VIP event.

After the first grader shot the teacher in Newport News, VA, all students are old enough that threats need to be taken seriously.
I hope that FCDaughter’s school has an Emergency Action Plan or whatever is appropriate to follow in such a situation; might necessitate getting LEOs involved.

Sometimes a saccharin sweet person is just a sweet person. I’m not about to judge someone harshly when the wording of the communication is unknown. None of us are perfect. None of my friends are perfect. I’m certainly not perfect. We all have our idiosyncracies, quirks, etc. Is it wrong to vent to another person about one of our friend’s foibles or to criticize something that friend has done wrong? I have a friend who likes to gossip. I don’t like her gossiping but she has many very good qualities. I have on occasion mentioned to another person that I don’t like the gossiping. Does that make me not a friend?
ps. I’m not at all criticizing Sensei for his reaction to the VM, since I don’t know the contents of said VM and don’t want to know; need to know basis and this is none of my business.

FCM I dearly hope that you don’t have what Hubs has. It started that way for him. Now he’s in constant pain, mostly rated between 5 and 8+. We’ve had different docs give different diagnoses from bone on bone to arthritis to ‘don’t know’. This started with him sometime last year. It became an issue at Thanksgiving but he wrote it off as sciatica. It wasn’t until February that he finally gave in to go see a Dr. I would say better to go before it becomes a bad issue.
As far as the move goes, particularly the big heavy stuff that has to go in your basement, would you consider hiring 2 Men and a Truck or one of those college boy companies? Is at least your daughter and SIL helping? Do they have any friends who could help?
Love the pic of Roxy at, what looks like, her birthday party. Also love the fashion sense of rainbow matching shirt, dress and socks.

These days, that coach would be fired at a minimum, perhaps arrested.

JtC you are a very good person to be there for the 2 daughters!! Many times people don’t feel comfortable giving support to children.

Amen. To both hippy and red.

Showered, cereal with blueberries and banana, walked to work, a very beautiful spring day. Irked, yes it was somewhat irksome! Called the woman who had this particular job for the last 25ish years (she’s now in the Admin office) and asked her how she didn’t go crazy and have the men in the white coats come for her. She said they threatened to at least twice. We had a good laugh. She commiserated with me and I validated her feelings from the last many years.

Walked home, made a very quick sandwich that I ate in the car while taking Hubs to PT. Got about 4 blocks away and he called saying he was an hour early so I turned around. When he got in the car, I said first we’ll go to my office to pick up the deposit bag, then I’ll drop him off at the fish store (he has a huge aquarium and since he hasn’t been feeling well, he hadn’t been checking the PH regularly and apparently it fell precipitously and a bunch of the fish died) then I would go drop the deposit bag at the bank then pick him up and take him back to PT then I would take the fish home and acclimate them to the aquarium. Well, turns out he hadn’t told me that his old fish store closed and the new one that he gets fish and supplies at is about 5-1/2 miles away. So, change of plans; just took care of the dropping the deposit at the bank then took him back to PT. Went to fish store after PT. DSW was right next so I went in and looked at shoes. WOW, have shoes gotten expensive. Found a pair that would complement one particular dress but even with the discount, it was way too much for just wearing with one dress that I only wear about 4-5 times a year, basically to church.

Leftovers for dinner; beef stroganoff with veggies for Hubs, s’getti for me, garden salad and cottage cheese with fruit for both of us.

I went out and did my HT run, and got my Senior discount. 376 people have seen my lost dog post on Nextdoor, but no Darci sightings.
I made a Mai Tai for cocktails for dinner tonight. I thought I try some Tiki drinks while I’m on vacation.

And Monkey, sober up and stagger back home!

I read that as JFC. Which is how I feel about non dairy “cheese”, decaf “coffee” turkey “bacon”, and non alcoholic “beer”

I enjoy it. But Mom is a retired RN, so I thought it was normal to watch surgery videos after homework.

Well, yeah, I think watching surgery on random unknown people is just fine. Googling one’s own health issues is never a good idea.

I can’t watch vids of surgery on animals, that is far too upsetting. I’m sure that says something about me…just not sure what.

I trimmed the bushes, and now I can see the mailbox. The bush looks like Hell, of course; but we can see the mailbox. After work, I bagged the clippings. I mowed the front weeds. I didn’t intend to mow the back yard, since I just did that the other day; but the grass was coming back quickly, so I went ahead and did it. I guess I spent two hours total doing yard work. Definitely needed my shower.

The toaster oven just dinged, so now it’s time for some Thai BBQ chicken.

I have also had very good service from the branch of asurion near me~very $$ reasonable, polite, eager to please, respectful, reliable, never tried to upsell me on anything I didn’t need. Always finished the work sooner then they predicted if it was while-you-wait.

doggio don’t forget the little umbrellas in your tiki drinks. I love Mai Tais and Singapore Slings. They pair well with egg rolls and barbeque pork fried rice.

That’s very kind of you to say, but it really is pretty self serving. I need you young people to enjoy stitching so the designers will continue create and the thread makers will keep spinning because they have a steady supply of new customers.

Plus, I couldn’t mend their hearts or lives, but I could give them something to distract themselves as needed.

I’ve been thinking about her as well. I hope all is going well for her.

We really aren’t talking much. We’ve created our own quiet little oasis where we can make beautiful things without thinking grown-up thoughts. There is constant motion and talking everywhere else, but the most excitement in our corner is when someone misses a stitch. Other folks drop in at times to catch their breath, but get distracted and go back to the chaos.

I am so sorry your Hubs is on constant pain, that’s got to be wearing him down so badly. You both are in my prayers.

Well, my new tree needs a drink and the carnations need to be smelled, so I’m going to spend the rest of the evening outside. In the quiet.

Canes win, and the haters are unhappy.

You care even when it’s someone or something lesser than you and doesn’t affect you? A quality in short supply these days.

I need to get some of those(I did do a garnish with a Luxardo cherry, mint leaf, and spiral lime slice) :palm_tree: :hibiscus: :pineapple: :maté:

Darn. All the people I know who do that want $200.

Evening all. Between soccer and nappage didn’t get my afternoon post in. Sweated 600 calories off at the gym then back home to watch European soccer games, with a 40 minute nap alongside it. The rain held off so we had soccer practice, but only 3 girls made it there, not sure what happened, usually we have a bigger turnout. The rain started about 8:30pm and it’s been thundering and lightning pretty constantly for the last hour. At least it’s cooled the weather down some.

Pilot, safe flights to/from Central America.

FCM, hope the move goes off as planned. And yeah! for finding a cheaper alternative on the pellet stove.

VanGo, others have offered good advice on the laptop issue, hope it doesn’t require replacement.

flyboy, I think U-Haul does rent pickups these days.

JtC, glad the Celebration of Life went well and sounds like things are pretty good at Case Cane.

Cat Glove, it can’;t be pleasant for Hub-unit, my mom had almost constant pain the last few years of her life, it made her miserable and sometimes she took it out on us, and that wasn’t any fun either…at least Hub-unit seems to be trying to control it.

Ok, off to bed shortly, once the thunder heads off somewhere else. take care all.

Oh, you jinxed it!

There are Jack and Jill walk-in closets that stick out from the walls between our bedroom and the bathroom to make a short “hall”, so you can’t see the bathroom from the bedroom door.

GG gets upset when we are taking a shower because he can hear the running water and thinks he should be able to play too. Sometimes he whines at the non-shower-taking person, sometimes he whines at the baby gate and many times he stands on top of the baby gate and stretches out his neck to try to look around the wall into the bathroom while caterwauling. Every so often, he loses his balance and falls off the gate. Usually he manages to move so he lands in the living room but once in a while, he lands in the forbidden bedroom.

I didn’t think much about it when I heard him whining, but when he suddenly started squalling and banging around, I knew that he had fallen into the bedroom and Crabby Old Cat was after him so I jumped out of the shower and grabbed a towel and ran into the bedroom to try to save his dumb ass, but hubs was faster.

Sadly for GG, COC had him trapped between the door and wall so when hubs slammed the door open, GG got squished (no worries, he’s very bendy) between the door and wall while the 7 lb old cat was protected enough to rip out another mouth full of fur before scarpering under the bed. GG is now hiding under the spare bed, I doubt we will see him again until treat time. COC got another bowl of gooshy fud because he always gets second dinner after I am done with my shower and VBC took the opportunity to occupy GG’s favorite bed again.

Situation Normal…

That is WAYYY too much drama!

You have NO idea how much of a drama queen GG can be!

I mean, all cats are drama queens (Hey Monkey, how"s the handsome guy?) but GG is professional grade!!!

I know the Board is involved - it’s a private school, so not the Board of Education. Not sure if they’ve contacted law enforcement. I just know it’s stressing her big time.

It was her birthday and her theme was Rainbows. The kid loves colors!

As for the move, my sweetie and I and his brother will be handling most of it. SIL offered but if he comes, I’ll have to watch Tobias, so minimal advantage there. And much as I hate it, we can drive the truck across the yard and practically to the basement door, making unloading pretty easy. (As long as the ground isn’t too wet, we won’t put ruts in the yard.) So we’ll have some stuff in the garage, some in the basement, and some in the guest room - you’ll all understand if we don’t invite any of you to come stay with us…

After 2 good sleeping nights, I was up at 3-stoopit-30 this morning. Blech. At least today is just physical labor - I don’t think I’ll be up to much braining.

We’re going to treat MIL to an early Mother’s Day, since the restaurants will be stoopit busy on Sunday. We’ll take her out tomorrow. It’s supposed to be rainy which will make moving undesirable. So any remaining stuff can be done on Sunday while the rest of the county is waiting for tables at local eateries. We have a plan!!

Busy day ahead - I should probably take some preemptive ibuprofen because I know I’ll be aching. But until FCD gets up, I have a bit of chillage time.

Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN
‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted off and on throughout the day. I shall go over to the church house this mornin’ to deal with candles and we shall have N.O.L. at the [s]hog trough[\s] GC. This will take care of the main need to feed for the day. Outside of that sloth and general overall uselessness is planned,

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Such bother!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Morning all. Rainy this morning and about a 40% chance of rain tonight and tomorrow, so our soccer game is in jeopardy. Just have to see what Weather Wizards have in store for us. Not much on the agenda today, I have to go pickup a package at the post office, they left me a note that they tried to deliver it yesterday (needs my signature), but I never heard them, so a quick run down there should do it. Hope the pol is finally warm enough to go swimming along with baking in the sauna. Might even do a little housekeeping.

FCM, hope move comes off without a hitch.

JtC, CoC really doesn’t like GG in their territory very much. How do they do with VBC, or does VBC respect the boundaries better?

OK, need to finish waking up and be about the day. All y’all take care.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 14c/58f with a predicted high of 15c/59f, and cloudy. Weather app gleefully informs me that “True story. Mammatus clouds look like fucking boobs.” So now you know! I can’t tell, because all I can see is blue sky and sunshine from my window.

Bonus working from home day for me as there’s a train strike today so getting to campus would be not impossible but very difficult. As it is, I logged in early and I’ve been productive. I’ll be finishing at 4pm, then ironing t-shirts for this weekend (still have to decide which one to wear tomorrow, tonight’s choice was easy). Then we are out of the house by 5.30pm and at our VIP gig by 6pm.

Mooom I hope the weather plays fair and the move goes well! Mum always used to insist we celebrated Mother’s Day at a different time, she said she didn’t want to be wheeled out with all the grannies

JtC sounds like the kitties have divided up their territory and expect their boundaries to be feared!

Pilot safe travels!

VanGo good news on the laptop keyboard in the end?

Cat Glove I’m sorry to hear about Hubs, I hope he gets some relief from it somehow.

Nothing much going on here today, irk for another 3.5hrs then off for a weekend of musical shenanigans!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I shall putter around the apartment, and maybe go for a walk or6.

If GG had more than 2 working brain cells, you need to get him $00k of therapy to fix that.

Enjoy the VIP event, boofae!

Well, that was a cluster.

Got awoken early by a call from HQ because I’d forgotten last night to acknowledge that I knew to go to work this morning. Rats! Then back to sleep for a bit.

Got up, sheveled, fed, coffee-ed, and ready to go, got downstairs & ordered a Lyft. Be here in 8 minutes, WHich is fine; I asked for the cehap version becasue I had time to spare. Which after 5 minutes of waiting cancelled on me. Then I ordered another. Who proceeded to take a “shortcut” through the building construction street, got stuck, and somehow couldn’t figure out how to get out. So there he sat for 10 minutes not moving & not responding to my texts or calls. Cancelled that and ordered a third. Who started down the same blind alley, but was smart enough to get out before he was trapped. There is zero advantage to using that street even when it’s open, so I have no idea what their nav app is thinking.

By the time this third guy gets to me, there is no way I’ll make the train. They’ve pissed away all my slack time and then some.

So I ask the guy if he’s willing to switch the destination from the train station 4 miles away to the airport 50 miles away. If not I’ll order my 4th ride of the morning and somebody will take it. Nope; not interested he says. Unless I want to cancel Lyft and pay him cash. Sure, works for me. So my $20 commute ($10 Lyft fare, $5 tip, $5 train fare) turns into a $100 ride on the freeway in rush hour traffic to MIA.

The good news is that by some miracle the traffic is light and we get to the airport a bunch prior to when the train would have. With less walking. So now I’m at the gate early, my jet is here, and the sun is shining.

Unfortunately my FO & FAs are all arriving a bunch late at about the most distant gate there is, so this will be a late departure for sure.

A thrill a minute this job is. Whew.

Cheers all. I did read all the news even though I don’t have time now to respond in detail.

Like cat glove, I’m a bit worried about nellie. I did send a PM a few minutes ago, so hopefully, she’s off having fun somewhere.

Even if they don’t keep up the hobby, learning how to stitch is a good escape for the girls JtC. My grandfather’s housekeeper taught us girls simple crocheting, and even though most of us didn’t keep up with it, it served as an entry point to try other crafts. GG and the rest of your crew are quite entertaining.

Up, caffeinating, a load of towels / sheets in the dryer and clothes in the wash (finally, I’ve transitioned from jeans to capris / khakis now, so I can get all of the clothing done in one wash load). After doing part of KP, I’ll do a little houseirk before purtifying to take Nelson to get to know his new vet (wouldn’t want the vet to think Nelson was being neglected by showing up in PJs and bed head :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
