This boots look great.
These are my favorite boots They are amazingly comfortable
I was going to start a thread asking this, but it came across as to judgy or confrontational or something. So here goes: Would you leave a restaurant after being seated if you found out they didn’t serve adult beverages?
I’m not much of a drinker - almost never when away from home - so it’s hard for me to understand this mindset. But we were eating out one night some time back, and two guys got up and left when they found out they couldn’t get a beer there. I don’t know if I’m hypersensitive because of having dealt with people who like to overindulge or if I just don’t get it since I don’t see the appeal of alcohol. I’m not against drinking per se, but honestly, I rarely even think about having wine or a cocktail. (Beer is just nasty - ick.)
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 87 and partly N.O.S. for the day. I shall make a breakin’ of the fast of pancakes, scrambled aigs, and snausages in a bit to serve as our main feed of the day. Any other need to feed will be via forage. Other than that the usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail.
MOOOOOOM we drink, but bein’ in a place that does not serve alcohol would not make us want to leave. If’n we go to a restaurant type place, the main purpose is to feed. Perhaps the ones in question really needed a beerverage. That bein’ said, we can pretty much figure out whether or not a place serves alcohol. Heck, since we have teh intartoobz at our disposal, it is pretty easy to determine whether or not a place does before goin’ there. Or maybe they’re just a couple of drunks. Good idea to take up any issues you feel are worth askin’ about with the doc. I do that. Most of the times it may be nuttin’ to worry about, but still good to ask when in doubt.
Niner if he seems interestin’ enough, go out. Like Sensei said, coffee is always a safe bet for a first time.
Pilot safe and happy travels back to her ladyship.
shoe we shall have our clutchin’ pearls and faintin’ couches ready should we need 'em.
sari hope the foot/ankle is better soonest.
red glad Nelson and you like the new vet. Poor little feller about his toofie!
Now I need more caffeine. Then I shall start of the breakin’ of fast. Afterwards, well, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
76th rotation completed. I’m now in that sweet spot for my family: sister died at 76, brother died at 77, 1st cousin died at 77, mother died at 78. Then again, my grandmother and grandfather made it into their 90s, so either the clock is ticking or it hasn’t even been made yet. Words of wisdom. . .I got nuthin’. Think I’ll celebrate with pancakes and a cup o’ joe.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. 2 days left in vacation. Spot slept on top of me last night. then I had leg cramps.
Only if it was one of the restaurants owned by one of the local breweries.
Nifty looking old school razor, Flyboy
< pulls out heavy duty clutching pearls >
HAPPY ROTATION DAY!!!
Hippo Birdie two Ewe Cookie!! I think at 76 you lead the MMP pack, but a few of us are right behind you. And from the sounds of it, you’ll be around a lot longer. I have a few relations that made it to their 90’s and that is my goal, too.
Never been much for boots, but Flyboy’s and Hippie’s look pretty nice.
FCM, haven’t decided if I’ll have my usual Sunday dining out today or on Mom Day, since I usually eat early (right at the 11am opening), I can probably get away with Sunday. And I only drink one beer per month on average so no, not having alcohol available does not bother me…now, if they don’t have sweet tea I’m outta there…
Sensei, that’s a pretty long PTA meeting; sounds like all is going well.
shoe, hope you’re ‘relaxed’ today…
OK, soccer is on, the Weather Wizards relented and stopped the rain long enough to let the fields dry out (rain may be back this afternoon), So will coach and possibly referee and get my exercise in. Take care all.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 15c/59f with a predicted high of 17c/63f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Not sure what I was going to say here. My mind is fucking blank”. Sounds like the app is recovering from my night out!
Our VIP event was a local band’s album launch party - VIP tix got us a physical copy of the CD on release day, signed by the band, early entry to the venue for sound check and then a 45-minute acoustic performance in the venue’s small lounge bar. Then we went into the main part of the venue for the evening - four bands, lots of friends, and a very entertaining night. We walked home via the pizza and kebab shop so we have lots of leftover pizza for lunch today.
Mooom I would not leave a restaurant just because I couldn’t have an adult beerverage. It’s a bonus if we can have one, but it’s not the end of the world if we can’t. I would have chosen the restaurant for the food rather than anything else.
Cookie Happy Rotation Day!
shoe hope you’re doing ok today!
Niner it’s good to be wanted, whatever direction it comes from
nellie where are you, come back and let us know you’re ok! And bring Darci with you!!
Busy day here, I was up later than I’d planned, fed the cats, cleaned the litter trays, successfully made cups of tea…then went over to my friends’ house to feed and poop-scoop their one remaining ferret. Back home again via the petrol station so the car’s tank is full again. Now about to drink tea, eat leftover pizza and then head off to Nottingham for tonight’s big gig. A band I’ve been a fan of for 30 years, and an iconic Midlands venue, so definitely a show not to be missed.
Meeting friends when we get there, staying overnight, and making our way home tomorrow after someone else makes breakfast for us and does the dishes! Got a friend popping in tonight to look after our mog and the lodger-mog so all should be well while we’re out partying.
Keep a happy thought…
My dad and his dad died at 72, his mom was 74, I thinik, Mom’s parents hit their mid-80, and she’s 89. So, yeah, a mortality crapshoot here.
Oh yeah, Happy Day!!!
The rain has started, so that answers that. FCD has left for the boat - he needs to reinstall a filter before the engine guys can service the engine. His mom is going to shop for sheets today. I’m taking her grocery shopping on Moanday. But for now, I need to restore order to the guest room/storage closet before we move their bigger mattresses in there. The dishwasher is done, so there’s that.
OK, you folks need to quit distracting me - I have chores to do!!!
I have a pair of Noconas I got back in the early-'90s that were very comfortable. I’ll have to try them on to see if they still fit. (I think my feet have grown.)
Much fun was had by all. He’s so easy to talk to, in addition to the other, uh, stuff.
It’s starting to rain, and there’s a turkey in my yard pecking about. Ha, the turkey is marinading!
Happiest of birthdays, @Chefguy and may you enjoy many more!
Heh. “Pulls out.”
Happy birthday cookie!
Mooooooom, generally, I’m going to a restaurant for food. If they have a decent alcohol pairing, even better. I have walked out of a place after being seated for other reasons though (a menu of all deep fried food and no veggies was the culprit).
I heard back from nellie. She’s taking a break for a bit but has plans to return.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that’s done, I’ll get sheveled and head to Staples to exchange a CO2 cartridge and to the USPO to mail some cards and bills. I’ll mess around with the herbs and pick up a Marketplace buy at some point too.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Yanno, a terlit is amazingly simple to repair when you have the proper tools. Here’s hoping it’s finally an end to the all-too-frequent running water issue.
The guest room is just about put in order - I came out to get a drink - hot work!
I have a bolt of 6 yards of Dress McDuff tartan wool that FIL brought back to MIL decades ago. She gave it to me but I don’t do wool, and I’m waaaaay too Polish to pull off a tartan. I hate to send it to the thrift store but I’ll gladly dispatch it to anyone willing to pay the shipping cost. I should list it in Marketplace… I think I’ll do it.
Happy Spin Day!
FCM I no longer drink because I was one of those people who overindulged. It was easier for me to say no to the first than the third or 13th. But I understand the appeal for some.
It is. Thank you. It’s a small school with only 10 to 14 kids per school year. The parents are very involved and people know each other.
It’s nice being both a teacher and parent at the same school. I can get both prospectives.
Good morning.
It’s currently 54 degrees and sunny outside. The expected high is 91, and a heat advisory has been issued.
Happy Birthday, Cookie!
I hope all is well with Nellie and that she comes back soon. I do miss her!
I had both a busy and expensive day yesterday, but I got some plants in planter boxes, gardens prepped for plants, and played with my new battery-powered weed whacker. I love that thing! Auto feed and auto load! No more messing with trying string spools, with adjustable speed for more precise work. Even the husband wanted to play with it. I spent a stupid amount of money on plants and dirt; I still need to get more. However, it doesn’t all have to be done in one weekend, and what doesn’t get done this weekend will get done next weekend or even the weekend after.
I learned yesterday that my baby sister will be in Portland for a wedding, and we’re planning to meet up sometime between the 25th and 27th. It’ll be a bit of driving since I’ll have to go home from Stevenson, Washington (on the Columbia River) to pick up my husband and drive back south to Portland to meet my sister, but it’ll be worth it. I haven’t seen her since my Dad died, and I miss her. It would be more convenient if my husband would come down to Skamania Lodge with me for my state meeting, but he doesn’t want to hang out alone all day while I slog through training. I can’t really blame him. It would work out better if my middle sister could pick him up on the way to meet her, but I’m not sure my husband would go for that.
I’m glad you enjoyed your visit with GC, shoe!
Well, I should finish my coffee and get in the shower. I need to dash out to the nursery to pick up some baskets for my daughter and mother, and we need to be at my daughter’s place by noon. Another busy day awaits!
Thanks for the wishes I shamelessly pandered for. Pancakes eaten, coffee consumed, Saturday NYT crossword cursed at. No plans for this rainy day.
It’s terribly difficult to make breakfast when The Attention WhoreTM is mewing for pettings at your feet
Yay for reunions, Taters
I liked it too; hence dad’s present. When dad died, my sister’s baby-dady found it and said, ‘Would you look at this old relic?’ He was about to toss it. (He’s a bit of an asshole.) I informed him that it was a present I bought for dad, and I took it from him. (Besides, it wasn’t that old in 1998.) I use it from time to time, mostly when I shave on a weekend.
I woke up at 0450 this morning. I may have dozed off for half an hour, but by a quarter to five I knew I wasn’t going back to sleep. I put on some socks and the boots, and took a few steps. They feel good. The only thing is that they ‘bite’ a little around the ankles. They’ll soften up.
Happy birthday to cookie
flyboy. I love chukka boots but they don’t have the same “look” if a female wears them. I had a navy blue suede pair in high school because I was a dork in 1975.
Happy Saturday!
Happy Birthday Cookie!
It’s rainy out.
I stayed home again this morning because it still hurts to walk, although I’m a lot better than I was.
I still have a bruise on my ankle and my son says it is still a little swollen. My leg doesn’t hurt nearly as bad and I don’t feel off balance like I did.
My family is mixed when it comes to life span.
My mother died young at 86, most of my maternal relatives live well into their 90s. All of us thought she had another 10 years to go.
My father died young at 53. He didn’t take good care of himself though. He liked to eat, drink, and party. Most of his side of the family die in their late 70s, maybe early 80s. Except for his older sister who is in her 90s.
I wouldn’t leave a restaurant because they don’t serve alcohol. I’m going out to eat, not to drink. If alcohol is that important, I’d look it up before I went.
I would expect a high-end place to at least have wine. It wouldn’t bother me if they didn’t though.
I was surprised that the little local Mexican restaurant has alcohol. A pleasant surprise because I love their margaritas.
I have much to do today, most of it paperirk type stuff, bills to pay.
I need to order a birthday gift for my son, I should have done it already as it’s not going to come on time anyway.
Procrastination is starting to become an issue around here.
I don’t know if I will every learn.
Semi-related - hearing people whine about wedding receptions that don’t include open bars. Really? Someone you know gets married and you’re pissed because you can’t get, um, pissed???
OK, I got the guest room squared away and threw some stuff away. I also got a taker for the wool, so YAY!! Bed is stripped and dishwasher has been emptied. I’m gonna veg on my recliner for a while.
