(Old) Happy Earthday in the MMP!

I can’t even imagine giving something back dirty! On the other hand, when people return containers or dishes to me, into the dishwasher they go. Well, they could have gotten dirty in transit!!

Google “Renter’s Insurance” - or call GEICO or somesuch. It’s not a big deal and it’s pretty cheap.

Forty-Three Stoopit Degrees here this morning! Theoretically it will hit mid-60s today. Our house is getting pressure-washed, as is FCD’s shop and his paint shed. I need to remove the screens from the windows according to the email I got. He’s due around noon, so with luck he won’t freeze.

The other big plan is laundry. Rah! And maybe some carpet cleaning if I can figure out my carpet cleaner problem (assuming Daughter brings it over.) Definitely an indoor day.

Poor FCD had a bad night despite the drugs - lots of pain on top of his worry about his mom. I know he got up at least twice and went out to his recliner. I think he’s sleeping now - I hope he is.

One other chore - I have 2 boxes to ship for Daughter and I’m pretty sure UPS is the best option since I think one of the boxes is too big for USPS and I hates FedEx. Anyway, there’s a trip that I hadn’t planned for.

I got an email from AuntB. She’s suggesting rather than them coming to visit here, we should meet them halfway with MIL and they’ll take her on to Indy for a 2-week visit. I’m thinking it would be safer for all if we drove her all the way there. Must discuss with FCD. It’d be worth all that driving to get a break. This would be in the beginning of June.

Meanwhile, I’m fed and caffeinated, enjoying my quiet morning time. Happy Firday!!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy. The expected high temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit with overcast skies and periodic rain. So, once again, I don’t need to water the posies.

FCM, I’m sorry FCD had such a rough night. Good luck with the trip planning!

I think my Keurig finally bit the dust. I don’t know; I’ll have to fiddle with it some more, but it keeps stopping and telling me to lift the lid because water is under pressure. Usually, that means the needle is dirty (according to the machine), but I’ve washed everything twice, and it’s still giving me that message. I’ve unplugged it, too. I’ve had it for more than 10 years, so it lasted way longer than it should have. In the meantime, I’m annoyed because I didn’t get my second cup of coffee. I could make French press or pour-over, but that means grinding beans, which is noisy.

I’ll have to head out to the store after work and get a new Keurig since my husband doesn’t want to learn how to make pour-over or French press coffee.

My son paid us a surprise visit late yesterday afternoon and made us dinner with the ingredients he had purchased on the way here. It was really good to see him, and the pups were super excited, too. I actually signed off work close to on time for once.

Even though I signed off at 3:45 yesterday, I started at 5:30, and the day was filled with multiple headaches. I fixed the problems…again, but now I need people to be actual grown-ups and follow instructions. I doubt they will, though.

It’s Friday, so I don’t have to worry about work for two days. I might go to the mall, or I might just hang out here. I haven’t decided.

Okay, need to tidy the kitchen. Take care.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but when MIL’s keurig died, we got a $20, one-cup-at-a-time appliance that boils the water and sends it thru a coffee pod. Works like a champ! Near as I can tell, the only difference between it and the fancy machines is you have to pour the water in each time for a cup of coffee or chocolate rather than fill a reservoir. I’m impressed.

It’s 8:30 and the house is still quiet. I’m going to plop in my recliner to read, which guarantees someone will get up and disturb me… alas…

good heavens! what a tortured life. was he an only child?

lol theres a spot on reddit that shows pets in tight places called "if I fits I sits " and its mostly big cats in really tiny spaces …

Howdy all. Made it to 7am with the sleepage, but got distracted with some of the soccer stuff and then other things and just now getting to the MMP. Another nice day with temperatures getting to the 80’sF with a 1-in-10 chance of rain (so you know what that means…). May go swimming again, Firday is my usual day but I did so much yesterday my legs are a little sore so might play hooky today.

nellie, that’s a tragic story, you did what you could for him but sounds like he needed lots more help than one good teacher and the US Justice/Prison systems could provide.

JtC, sounds like a good haul at the surplus place. And glad Hubs is feeling better, hope when he makes the other drives he behaves somewhat more responsibly.

FCM, I tend to agree with you on transferring MIL, suspect FCD will concur.

Taters, since I don’t drink coffee, I can offer no helpful ideas on the Keurig, hope the new one lasts another 10 years.

Need to get some sustenance in my belly, and then run over to Kroger for some Firday supplies, so have a good one all.

Usual heaving, with the usual breakdowns. I got laundry drying, so off to Teeter for fish, and to the Likker Sto for some rye. Then naptime(when I get home of course)

That sounds cool.

Mom’s side of the family is from there, so those might be kin.

This is why he wears a look of utter disappointment 24/7.

Cats are liquids.

Uh, yes? But hope FCD feels better today.

Yay!

Why get things done on time when you can have a toddler style meltdown instead?

That’s pretty much the same range as around here. Sometimes the single rooms are closer to $900 a month.

I bundle mine with my auto insurance. My lease requires me to carry it or pay a waiver, which is more than the insurance. Bundled, it’s under $10 a month.

I would, but I lack his cuteness quotient. :stuck_out_tongue:

Did someone close the drawer without seeing him? Otherwise, he’s one talented puddy tat!

That’s a sad story about your former student nellie. You did what you could do for him, but it sounds like his problems were out of almost anyone’s league to deal with.

taters, for irk mornings, I use a little 4 cup drip pot that I just pour enough water in to make my 20 oz. mug of joe to take to irk with me. I grind the beans just like I do when I make coffee any other way and no plastic waste.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels in the dryer, shower curtain / tub mat back in place (bathtub cleaned while they were in the wash too!), a load of jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. I called the vet this morning to make an appointment for Nelson’s annual physical / booster shots, am fixing to do KP and house irk before hitting the grocery store. Go me!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

He’s orange, the drawer is brown, and we don’t open that one all that often. I think we’re going to have to go with talented and liquid.

If it was just me, I would say screw getting another Keurig. I like my coffee black, strong, and flavorful, with no foo-foo stuff like cream or sugar. My husband, on the other hand, likes foo-foo coffee and is not a fan of anything strong. So he gets foo-foo pods and I get Peet’s Major Dicksons for when I am out of beans for my pod insert.

I have a small Keurig in my office, but will keep it there because my SD likes my coffee and I told her to help herself when she needs a cup of coffee. It would be weird to take it home now. Besides, I like making my coffee at the office when I am there.

nellie, just wow. I have no words.

Okay, back to work.

A blustery day in the Hundred Acre Wood. Stormy weather on the way for the weekend.

Awakened 0600 by Q’itih doing her “my food dish is empty” tramping in circles on the bed. Nothing like the smell of canned turkey mixed with kibble first thing in the morning.

Kept it simple for breakfast: savory steel cut oatmeal topped with a fried egg and a strip of bacon on top.

It was weight day in the exercise session this morning. Wore me out, but I’m sure it must be good for me, right? RIGHT?

By posting here, I kinda did.

Off to see about the bifocals. I take off my glasses to use my phone, so I guess … probably need 'em.

I also think I need to privately talk with S.M. about closing with the guys on Fridays, even just every once in a while, instead of with the girls on Saturdays every week.

Last night was one of each and it was … eye opening, to say the least.
I think I see now why Long Night takes it outta me so badly, and it’s not the late hours.

HA! Lots of ocular references.

Push a sewing needle up through the opening in the tip of the needle to try to dislodge the blockage. We can take the needle out of our Keurig for cleaning but yours is about five years older than ours so you might just have to fiddle around with it in that awkwardly shaped pod holder.

I am so sorry. The poor man must have had so much trauma in his life.

I haven’t heard from Buttercup recently, but Pilot is whooping it up with a 50 something floozy and having the time of his life. I’m happy for him

It’s not even tarted-up that well. There are only four windows and they planted three spruces in front of the biggest one.

There are things I cannot bring into the house as well. Hubs has such a sweet tooth that he once ate 5 hot chocolate bombs in a single sitting. I had one properly mixed with hot milk and that was rich enough for me to forget about them until the next day when I found the empty package in the garbage.

Yes, this is what I will do after I get a fancy manicure and 4 inch long acrylic nails that I don’t want to risk chipping by doing anything more strenuous than stabbing bon-bons!

Cats can teleport of needed. Plus, as mentioned, they are liquid.

Could he get to the back of the drawer? One of ours managed to scare us silly by getting into a drawer that way.

Yeah, this is me. I’ve even told people to not bother washing, just rinse it out before returning. I’ve had whole conversations with people about this and it seems everyone is pretty much the same. Containers must be scrubbed before being returned and then put in the dishwasher when coming home.

I hope it works out!

HA!

It’s just crazy. I’m a firm believer on home ownership as a way to build generational wealth and now young people are being forced out of the housing market because they can’t save up a down payment when they are paying more than half their take home pay on rent.

I’m so glad she is feeling better!

GG is not a box kitty. He’s never had any interest in boxes so packing is fairly simple around him. I would be spending hours a day getting VBC out of the boxes and I’m trying to convince myself that it’s better this way…but it really isn’t.

Since I have the day off, SWMBO ‘suggested’ I ‘could’ vacuum. It took me an hour, and I got a glistening of sweat. (She usually does the vacuuming, but I do a better job than she does, and I move furniture.) As long as I had the furniture moved, there’s a panel that used to cover the fusebox when we had a fusebox (actually there are two panels – this one covers the lower part for access to… something) that needed repair, so I fixed it. Just need to wait for the glue to dry.

A rasher of back bacon, a slice of black pudding, and an over-easy egg for breakfast. Now it’s noon, and I should think about lunch. I’m tempted to have a tin of kippered herrings, but I think I’ll have a Buddig beef sandwich and an avocado.

Wifey, RN’s visually-impaired patient is playing at the taphouse in Nooksack this evening. She says we can go to the Smuggler’s Tunnel for eats before we go out there. We’ll probably have a couple of Hemingway daiquiris each. I’ll have a taco salad to eat. (I’ll be glad when the Mexican restaurant re-opens.)

Howdy Y’all! ‘Tis indeed been a day of highest sloth. Walkin’ all the way down the driveway to get the mail and walkin’ all the way back up the driveway was the big exertion of the day. I asked to be fanned after all that exertion and was denied. OYKW can be so cruel sometimes!

Now THAT’S how it’s done!

MOOOOOOM if the trip is to be made, takin’ here all the way there yourselves seems the smarter move.

I was complimented on the carpet. ‘You did such a good job, I should have you do it from now on!’ DAMMIT! :smackhead smiley: ‘I think that’s why my last husband did such a crappy job at doing laundry. Because he didn’t want to do it. Don’t you pull that! Just kidding. It looks good.’

Add some hot sauce and you described my breakfast.

Apartment is cleaneded, groceries bought and Nelson has had the run of the small dog side of the dog park. Such excitement.

I need to package a couple of items to ship tomorrow. Whilst out, I’ll pick up a prescription and hit the Goodwill for a new-to-me travel mug (I knocked one off and the lid is a bit jagged, the other was knocked off onto the concrete at the dog park and totally fubarred the lid).

FCD agrees with me. MIL is waffling whether she wants to go or not. I think she’s worried about being a burden on her sister. So who knows…

When we go to the boat show tomorrow, BIL is coming to pick her up and take her to his apartment while we’re gone. We’re leaving fairly early to have breakfast on the way, then we’ll head up to Annapolis. Honestly, I’m not that crazy about going to yet another boat show - we’ve been going to them for 40 years - but my sweetie is excited about it, and it will be nice to have a day for just the 2 of us, and the thousands of others at the City Dock.

Pressure washer guy did a good job - I feel lucky to have found him. He’s the guy who did our gutters, and I told him I’ll be calling once the leaves have fallen. So we have that to look forward to.

For now, tho, it’s recliner and reading.

Oh, swampy, you and OYKW are truly blessed to have each other. Admit it.

Aha! :joy:

I’m just sitting here working with a poodle on my lap. She is preventing me from getting up and getting some dinner. But I’m getting very hungry so she will not prevail for long!

Evening all. Finally did make it to the gym, I am not in swampy’s class in slothing, but I can dawdle with the best of them. Home now and only major thing left is to work out the lineups for soccer tomorrow so everyone gets to play about the same amount of time. Of course, one or two players I planned on can’t make it at the last minute, so I need to improvise, but such is life. Coach at 8:00 and 9:30am, then 10U pics at 11:00am, and referee at 11:30am, so a pretty full morning. Will try not to fall down this week.

I experimented today by buying a 10-pack of Lay’s chips, each bag is 160 calories so not real damaging and hey, they could last 2 weeks…have already eaten 2 bags in about 9 hours and am strongly tempted to get another for a pre-bed snack, so that experiment isn’t quite going according to plan…

flyboy, hope you’re enjoying the night out.

FCM, enjoy the ‘quiet’ time with a few thousand other people. And I really need to get a pressure washing done for my place too.

OK< need to draw up some plans to keep 18 young ladies happy for a couple of hours tomorrow. Take care all.
