Hear ye, hear ye, let it be known that 9:57 p.m. tonight was bat time. As the days are still getting longer, I expect that time to push back a few minutes, until after the solstice.
You know those cute stock photos of people sleeping with their cat? Not so cute when he’s twitching, grunting, and cut off your circulation so you can’t feel anything below your right elbow. When I did sleep, I dreamed I was driving home on my usual route, and I had to dodge a mattress that fell off a WWII halftrack in front of me. Then I had to swerve around a Raleigh City truck carrying old mattresses. Then I had to load 2 mattresses onto a box truck. Then I abandoned my car, so I could cross an otter infested creek to get home. So now I’m having a Mai Tai while the smoked Paprika chicken cooks.
Dude, you two are like Pon Faar on steroids. But I hope BB feels better.
Glad you(and sis) are out of the hospital, FCM. Nothing worse than being stuck in a place that doesn’t put enough vodka in the Jell-O shots.
About normal.

Mooom, I’m very glad you’re home and (relatively) OK.
My suggestion to you is, research local medical shuttles for seniors (there’s got to be something in your area) for getting to and from whatever appointments come up. And other than that, don’t worry about not being able to drive. Let FCD do the errands. Putter around the house.
I know this goes against your very nature, but I believe this incident was your body telling you to slow down. Let others do for you. You’ve earned it.
I do have a question - are FCD and MIL still going to Indiana?
That sounds like the best combination of cute and dangerous.
Yay for good news! :
Thank you on behalf of your fellow facility resident!!! Flowers and growing things help to raise a person’s spirits and you helped to bring joy to her life. Good on ‘ya!
Shampooing a carpet??? You should look into a spa visit for 2-3 days! You so deserve it and it will gird you for when they return.
That’s great; now you can get back to backstroking. But don’t overdo it since you’ve been off for awhile. Ease back in with only a mile
omgoodness; that means he left today (I’m two days behind) so wishing him safe travels, hope today was so.
Will definitely do so. Hoping you feel better soon. God bless
Made it to post 106; only 98 more to go
Been pretty busy. Have worked every morning this week. The new CC processor SUCKS BIG HUMUNGOUS time! But one fun thing is that Hubs & I went to the Tigers baseball game yesterday. It was supposed to start at 1:10 but since Tuesday night’s game was postponed, they made it into a doubleheader yesterday so the first game started at 12:40. Since I wanted to keep Hubs from being exposed to any many germs as possible, we got there shortly after 11:30 meaning that yes, we were there a little over an hour before the game started. But it was a nice day and we were able to entertain ourselves with watching what was going on on the field, taking a few pics and texting them out and doing a little internetting. The baseball park has free wifi.
The Tigers were on fire and whipped the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-zip in the first game. I had walked to work with a friend yesterday and he said that when there’s a doubleheader, the teams likely split. We stayed for 3 innings of the second game then Hubs was able to watch the 4th inning while I used the facilities and we listened to the radio on the way home. I didn’t hear the final score but am pretty sure my friend was correct that the games would be split. I was glad that we stayed because the Pirates pitcher in the second game had been the #1 pick in perhaps last year’s draft; he was making his 4th start and he had a heater, what an arm that young man has, he was awesome; nice to see. Pittsburgh fans, you’ve got a great one.
Today a friend, who used to work for me, was in town and wanted to get together for dessert after lunch. Our daughter had previously sent an NPR article to me about a custard shop in town so I suggested that we go there. I had a triple chocolate ice cream scoop in a sugar cone. WOW; so good!
Good night all, will try to catch up tomorrow.
I had just listened to Carman’s I Love Jesus. That can make anyone happy.
Then I made the mistake of starting a new book I got from the library, Only Say Good Things by Crystal Hefner.
Omg.
This knocked me down so far, it was more of a downer than Helter Skelter.
I am not finishing it.
I went to the dispensary this morning and got a free 2.5 gram pre-roll. I think I am going to wait until I get to WV before I spark that cigar up.
You do indeed sound handy…any plans to visit WV soon? I know our new place also has a few dings and dents. I cook Mexican food with spices and will have prickly pear margarita mix…
Did it ever kill flys when it was new? Mine didn’t, it just stunned them so I still had to get up and smoosh them.
I sure do hope we have squeeter eating bats around our place, not only do I enjoy listening to their pings…I also hate getting feasted on.
So tomorrow I will be wiring money to the mortgage company for the closing. I’ve never wired money before so I am trusting that our credit union folks know what to do. (Of course they do, people buy houses and wire money every day. This is only new to us.)
Hubs is in Tuckumcari tonight and closing is planned for Monday at 1100. Here’s hoping the down payment gets there in time, he’s planning on sleeping at our new place Monday night.
I’m pretty much finished here, mostly I am waiting to leave until closing has happened. I’m the one traveling with a cat, we want to be sure that he has a place to go once we get there cause he’s not going to like sleeping in motels.
The kids across the street have finally realized that something is happening over here, she asked me about it when I went to the mailbox (they smoke tobacco outside). She thought I must be redecorating and seemed rather shocked to learn that we were moving. Then she asked how much we wanted for our place and got upset at the price because she wanted to move out of their old single-wide trailer but they can’t afford it.
I really do agree that it isn’t right that housing is so expensive in Arizona, but it really isn’t my fault and I’m not willing to carry the loan on our place because they can’t qualify for more than a hundred G despite both working full time.
I have no idea why people keep moving out here, it is hot and expensive and has water woes.
Frah’d 'em up real good. But still, quality is iffy.
Good evening all. Gym time has been completed and the calorie count is balanced once again, so all is right with the world. Tomorrow is the Great June Grocery Shopping Day, have my list and coupons all ready to go, just depends when I want to get out of the house. Temperature is down to 65F so sleeping should be comfortable, we’ll see how long it takes me to feel tired after the extra-long nap this afternoon.
FCM, glad Sis is home too, y’all take care now.
Shoe, sounds like the bats like the belfry around there…
verwirrt, I don’t think I’ve ever put anything from Ikea together; have on occasion had to assemble business chairs from Staples and some things from Wal-Mart, but I’d be in that music ensemble with you.
Love that description. Good catch.
doggio, I could buy most of that dream, but the last part was otterly ridiculous…
Cat Glove, I did a mile of backstroking on Wednesday, plan to do 1.25 miles tomorrow. Usually do it in 2-3 sections, depending how I feel. And between you and Pilot I just looked at the Rocket City Trash Pandas schedule for the first time in years and they have a full week of home game starting next Monday. Thursday is Cat Rescue Night with a ‘bring your cat to the ballpark’ invitation, because nothing could possibly go wrong with a passel of cats in a monor-league ballpark…
Coppertone, just looked up that book you got, can see why it would be a downer. It’s your right not to finish something that brings you down like that.
JtC, I’m sure things will work out well, feel for your young neighbors, housing can be expensive everywhere.
It’s getting close to 11pm so off to bed I go. Catch y’all tomorrow.
It sounds more like an aneurysm than a seizure honestly
otters are cute and loveable and if I would of had my own backyard to put in the pond they require at the time I would have had a few …
Mine never killed a fly, but like yours…it was free. I kept using it because the jap buzz entertained me.
I really do feel badly for them, but also think that if they weren’t setting 20 bucks on fire every day, they might be able to save up a larger down payment.
I used to smoke tobacco. I know how much that habit costs.
But seriously, housing in AZ is insane. We are buying a nicer, bigger place with a nicer bigger yard and shed and carport for half of what we are selling this place for. Of course, nobody wants to move to WV because of the no jobs thing, but there aren’t any good jobs in Cordes. Retail pays shit money and truck stops reek.
The last name shoulda tipped me off.
Serious question, though … what made you choose that particular book in the first place?
Holy monkey butts. That … uh, would hold me up for a hot minute.
(By which I mean, a day or two.)
Got the munchies and decided that anything I wanted to eat (sardines, gochujang with butter, cheese) would involve Triscuits.
Also needed hand soap, and a coupla random other minor things, plus quick’n’easy meals for before & after work this weekend. In addition, I’ve been really wanting eggs, esp. a One-Eyed Jack (egg fried in grilled toast) and hey, that’s still cheap protein, right?
Bestirred myself, primarily for the damn Triscuits. And eggs.
Sixty goddamn fucking dollars later - including some interesting (and I hope tasty) shelf-stable “yogurt” things - look, they’re basically adult versions of baby food - that I hope will tide me over during the upcoming Removal Of The Behemoth Fridge - and I’m too damn tired to cook or eat LOL.
Here’s a link (mind you, I haven’t tried them yet)
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
DH thinks that about most things sold at Harbor Freight. He’d rather go to Ace or Walmart if Home Depot or Lowe’s aren’t valid options.
I enjoy autobiographies.
Up to pee, back ro sleep.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is to be bear!s who brunch at Eggs Up followed by quality cee-mint pond time wherein sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’ will occur. Sounds like a great idea to me
BBBOO I saw you postin’ as well when I was. That also made me smile. I prefer sassy and irreverent minds.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
A refreshing shower last night and a solid 8 hours of sleep and I feel human again! But it was 53-freekin’degrees when I got up. It’s May 31, fercryinoutloud!!! Wouldn’t have been too bad, except we slept with the windows open, so my little sleep shirt was inadequate when I toddled to the terlit this morning.
I have loaded and started the dishwasher, tended the critters, and fed my face. We go to the credit union this afternoon to get MIL a CD because even at her age, she frets about money, so she’s getting a 6-month certificate at 5%, which, I admit, is pretty good. But this morning, there’s laundry.
I got to thinking last night - I’ll have Roxy for 4 days while FCD and his mom are gone. I need to show her how to make an emergency call on my phone. Actually, I can just have her call her mother if necessary. But that’s top of the list. And I’ll need to make sure I take the PIN off the phone while she’s with me.
I also have to set up payment to my new mortgage holder. (I hate when they sell mortgages - pain in the patoot!!) And I have to get some money from MIL’s account to pay for the airfare and some other money she owes us. High finance, there…
One thing’s for sure - I won’t be raking today. I will be reading over the info the Dr gave me yesterday and doing my own research on seizures. I’m still a little concerned with the diagnosis, mainly because I had only one of the many, many symptoms listed for seizures. I think I’ll feel better after I can see the neurologist. Who I will call today.
Meanwhile, I’m awake and rested. And HOME!!! Gone barely over 24 hours, but it felt like forever!
Anyway, Happy Firday!!!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/59f with a predicted high of 16c/61f, and cloudy. Weather app says “Don’t like this fucking weather? Wait a minute, it’ll fucking change.” We’ve had sun and grey clouds but no rain, so yes it’s changing but not very much.
Yay! I saw on the book of faces that you’re back home and showered. I am sure the best part was a shower and your own bed. I was just wondering what you’d do about FCD’s absence in case something else happened, having Roxy knowing how to make an emergency call on your phone would be a good idea. Can you spend some time with Daughter and SIL as well? Or have one of them in the house with you?
I have read much but retained little…it’s been one of those days. We’re heading into our busiest period of the year when we reach the end of the academic session and start finalising the end of year results for everyone. I’ve already got a bunch of queries going back and forth between various people and depts over things that aren’t working or don’t look right.
Other than that, it’s quiet here. There’s only two of us in the office today, and we’ve both got a lot to do so we’ve generally both got our heads down. Three more hours and the day is over though, that’s a bonus.
Morning all. Up and have broken fast, will shortly dress more or less appropriately and head out to do the June shopping and collect those Kroger 4x bonus points. Have to watch what I buy, will be gone for half of June (soccer tournament then vacation) so don’t need quite as much stuff. Outside of that and swimming another day of sloth is predicted, with temperatures in the mid-80’s. Tomorrow is looking like rain so it has been designated as laundry day, which should take care of a good bit of Saturday.
JtC, I never smoked, my Mom did and even as a kid I thought it was a nasty habit.
Shoe, know what you mean, costs can add up real fast at the store. Hope everything is worth it.
swampy, enjoy Eggs Up. Need to get back there sometime…
FCM, good idea to teach Roxy, just in case. Expect that you will find several other things in your life needing adjustment now. Old age is not for the weak.
boo fae, TGIF to you and enjoy the weekend.
OK, need to head out, want to try and get my hands on the Friday NY Times (I wonder what the headline will be??). Have a good one all.
