(Old) Happy Memorial Day or Just Happy Moanday in the MMP

130 some posts since I last visited. Yeesh, you all have been busy.

@dogbutler On the local subreddit there was someone asking about the meaning of the delivery status: “package has been ejected”. Somebody else explained that it mean that the package had been pulled from the normal processing due to damage to the address, package, or something similar. It reminded me of your stories of Spot yeeting the mouse. I think the delivery company should use a different status description: “Yeeted by Spot”.

@LH75 Thanks for sharing the video. Pretty impressive that they’ve stayed together so long.

Except for the annoying issue of no power, this actually sounds like a pleasant evening. I do like the trend of showing old movies in theaters again. Old = movies I saw in the theater when I was a teenager.

I hope your therapist can help. :people_hugging:

Thank you for that effort! The place is very nice and the two of you: . I think our new dresser might be similar to your dresser - I’ll have to check after ours gets delivered in about 6 weeks.

That said, I am very used to having mountains nearby, so the exterior shots are a bit unnerving. Nice place to visit, I’m sure.

Was missing your posts and wondering how things were going with the shoulder. Sending good vibes, well wishes, and crossing fingers.

@FairyChatMom So both you and your sister are in the hospital? And probably not even the same one. Hope you both recover soon and get sent home for further healing.

Good idea. Hopefully all the mumpers can get a bit of a remote-contact high, because this week needs to chill.

Today is a Catholic holiday, so the official town group has been setting off a cannon. They did some practice rounds last night as well. Keep forgetting that they do it, since it’s only for Ascension and Corpus Christi, and by the time it happens the following year, we’ve already forgotten.

Today is getting the living room and hubby’s music room back in order. Lunch will be lasagna from the freezer (put it in the fridge yesterday to thaw for today) and there will be laundry. Lots of laundry. Maybe some baking as well, depending on how long it takes to do the major moving.

And there’s the cannon again. I’ll take that as a hint to start being productive.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and cloudy. Weather app says “Outside, the clouds are all acting like pig fuckers. What a bunch of fucking arseholes.”

Eeek! Scary indeed - it’s lucky that the aide found you and did the sensible thing too. I saw your updates on farcebook, I hope they can find out what caused it.

I had to google that one, never heard of it before but it also looks nasty.

VanGo I suppose there is some small consolation in just having tiredness as a symptom. I hope it doesn’t get any worse than that for you, and recovery is quick.

flyboy did you trip over a cat?

Somebody has to do it if Mooooom is temporarily out of action!

I went to the pub with a couple of friends last night, much merriment was had but it was my second late night in a row so this morning I was not so keen on getting up at idiot o’clock to come to campus. However, I made it here despite public transport’s best efforts to sabotage my trip. It’s quiet today, only three of us in the office but one of them is our team manager who is having a particularly manic day!

I have a meeting with her this afternoon, hopefully she will have calmed down by then. Other than that, nothing spectacular, we have a training session on updates for the end of session processing, most of it will be utterly boring aside from the 5 minutes I actually need to take note of.

The student peace camp saga continues. The original camp that set up in the Green Heart space between my building and the library has lost a few tents, we thought they’d given up and gone home. Turns out that they’ve moved (and expanded) to a small second camp at the other end of the Green Heart area which is down by the Law Building and Chancellor’s Court. In an attempt to stop them encroaching any further, metal construction barriers have appeared across the central part of the green space between camps one and two. I await further developments since it’s more exciting than my recycling bins at the moment!

A vampire came to bleed me around 1 and again around 4:45. I slept maybe 3 hours total. My BP is down but still higher than usual. The nurse was supposed to bring me the info for ordering breakfast - I’m starving and it’s still 2 hours away.

Hoping they figure out WTH is going on with me so I can go home…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 84 with rain showers off and on for the day. So much for quality cee-mint pond time. Thus we shall remain inside and dry. Oh well, at least we have sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’ to occupy our time. Sup shall be BLTs and oven fries due to a gnawin’ and a cravin for BLTs.

VanGo hope the contract stuff gets worked out soonest. Glad you are on the mend from lyme disease. May you be over that soonest as well.

FlyBoy hope you are not too beat up over that fall. I am sure Goo enjoyed the snack.

JtC All hail BFF’s mighty hunter cat! Poor GG! Now he has to find a new place for afternoon nap. The tragedy of it all!

Pilot I now want business cards that say Imprimatur Ursus homomaximus.

shoe how nice of your co-irker to save you a cupcake!

BooFae it’s always nice to have sump’n to entertain whilst at irk. Let’s hope the peace camp remains just that, or goes away soon cause they get bored/hungry/stinky and find sump’n else to do/pizza/showers.

MOOOOOOM indeed, let us all hope they figure it all out and you get sprung soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Food! At last!

I had some fruit, a ham-n-cheddar omelet, a blueberry muffin, and hot tea. Happy tummy, and headache is subsiding. It’s just past 7 so I guess rounds will start soon.

Onward!

Good morning!

It’s 47 degrees Fahrenheit and mostly cloudy outside. The day will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower, with a high temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Still, I’m sitting here with the window open because it’s stuffy in the den.

VanGo, I hope your recovery continues.

FCM, I sure hope you get sprung today and they find out what the hell is going on with you. Too much hospital food is bad for you!

Yesterday, work was as I expected. Enough said there. However, I only worked my scheduled nine hours.

Around 2:00 p.m., I started feeling dizzy and super tired. I toughed it out until 3:30 and then went downstairs. I ate dinner a little later and was in bed by 8:30. To tell you the truth, I was ready to go to bed by 5:00, but it’s difficult to sleep when there is still daylight outside. It was still pretty light when I went to bed, but I think I was dead to the world by 9:00 or so.

I feel somewhat rested, but could have honestly done with some more sleep.

We’ll be dropping the pups off around 7:30 this morning to get their ears swabbed and treated, and, hopefully, their nails clipped. So, I’ll start work around 5:30 or so, then leave the house around 7:20 to drop the pups off. I should be home by around 7:45 or 8:00, and then it’s back to work.

I’ve got to finish some budgeting stuff today, and continue catching up on all the stuff in my inbox. I’m off again tomorrow, and hopefully, it’ll be a day of relaxation. I doubt it, but one can hope.

Alright, time to load that dishwasher!

EEG on tap this morning. They want to rule out a stroke. Not sure when the neurologist will come by. I should try to snooze…

Morning all. Up about 6am and am awaiting a more proper hour to perform mowage. Some folks have their garbage bins out but Monday was a holiday so I suspect collections won’t occur until tomorrow (still will probably get it out to the curb sometime this morning). Nothing much on the agenda, another clear and warm (84F) day is in store, so some activity is likely.

FCM, still puzzled about your blackout, hope the Docs come up with something effective.

Taters, you take care of yourself, too; can’t have Mumpers dropping left and right now.

JtC, sounds like the move is upon you; best wishes to your and Hubs (and GG) for a safe and uneventful journey.

shoe, my nibbling when it comes to cupcakes is that I take two bites and even three if it’s a real genteel affair…

Dicey, I’ve heard of ringing bells but firing off cannons for a church holiday…interesting.

boo fae, hope the manic has de-mani-acted and wonder how much longer the campers will abide. It was a major story a week or so ago here, now not so much (of course, there is a little trial going on in this country that has been a modest interest for some people…

swampy, now you have me thinking about BLT’s. Don’t have the bacon on-hand, but can acquire it quickly if necessary…hmmmm…

OK, onward into the day. Have a good Thorsday all.

I can view all my lab numbers in my patient portal. My uninformed perusal suggest a cardiac issue based on the numbers in red. But I guess I’ll let the doctor confirm it.

FCD is on his way with a diet Coke. Yay!

Yay! I’m glad that it sounds like they are on to something.

Glad you had a good time last night, Boofae

Ok, pilot, I thought your pictures were great! Thanks for sharing with us.

Today I finally transferred my fathers ashes to the urn. And, despite all the stuff about the size of jar that I would need, there is about half the jar left empty. This is partially my fault, because I was a chicken and was very uncomfortable with opening the cardboard box that they came in. At this point, though, I’m not particularly inclined to make another one, so it will just stay the way that it is.

This afternoon after MusicMan gets home from work, we’re going to be heading up to Canton and Akron to drop some things off and pick one thing up. So, I’m wondering if I should focus on working, napping, or cleaning the house now…. I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that napping will win out.

Just talked to a Dr. He seemed to think it was a BP issue, tho he also recommended seeing a neurologist. My MRI was clear, so no stroke. He also said I shouldn’t drive for 3 months… that could be a challenge.

Pause for effect

Still waiting for the EEG, but I just had an echocardigram. FCD is on his way with my diet coke fix.

Good idea! (Hell, makes about as much sense to random folks as the current mssg.)

It’s amazing what one can say without actually saying it.

Me, too.

Ah, the Dope (and esp. the MMP lately) where one can learn fresh, new, interesting ways the human body can go FUBAR.

Someone needs to switch to decaf.

Dooooo itttttttt you can get biz cards printed for super cheap.

Hey, how’d I get dragged into this?

Stayed up way too late last night after work. 10 a.m. is a bit late in the morning for bio-break, but here we are.

Pigs in blankets are puffing in their, well, puff pastry & will soon be ingested. Then, back to bed; it’s almost noon ferchrissakes, I need a few more hours of ZZZ before work!

Heh.

oh dear, that will be a challenge.

good to hear your brain is doing well.

from what you wrote it does sound bp. hopefully that will be easy to control.

Here’s your chance. You can make the request and have it added as part of your title along with your avatar and user name. Probably can also figure out a way to still have charter member also. Ask someone to convert that into Latin too? Lots more people will see it than you could realistically hand business cards to, plus we fellow Mumpers could see it and enjoy it every day.

Sorry I couldn’t link it better than that, I was doing good to do it this ham-handedly.

I’m thinking of doing myself but haven’t thought of an appropriate custom title for me. “don’t make me use my night nurse voice” or “tell the truth and keep on coming” (Texas Rangers motto)? Y’all have ideas for me, let me know.

Back from my EEG to find lunch waiting. A pretty good, if spicy, veggie soup and a very nice chef salad. But I forgot to order dessert. Dammit. I just called my sweetie and he’s bringing me a cookie!

Now, to wait for a doc to review my test results…

Long day, because apprently everything went wrong. But that’s how I make money. Did my HT Senior Day shopping, now it’s naptime.

He would enjoy that job.

Splitters!

They never put enough vodka in the Jell-O shots.
Hope you get sprung at some point.

That needs to be chiseled into the base of a 10 foot marble statue out by the mailbox.

Stomach okay so far.
I had stopped the old antibiotic and didn’t pick up the new til yesterday so went without 2 doses. My stomach felt good and I felt so healthy. I started the new last night and my appetite is less but ok so far.
I decided to go to the grocery store and get some probiotic food; pickles, yogurt, kefir, and saurkraut.

Afternoon all. Mowage has been completed and before the temperature reached 80F, so feel pretty good. Had a couple hot dogs with cheese for the mid-day, now considering if I want to go to the gym this afternoon or this evening. Decisions, decisions…

FCM, sounding like they are focusing in on your heart/BP, hope medication will solve the issue. Sounds like you are eating well at least. As for not driving for 3 months, that…could prove interesting. But considering the alternative…

Sticky Buns, nappage is always a good option (considering it myself right now).

swampy, there are all kinds of business card folks on Amazon, I think you should do that thing.

OK, nappage or gym…gym or nappage…

Hi folks! A bit after 1pm as I take a break for balconatin’ lunch of ham & swiss, multicolor tomatoes, olives, plus an A&W Zero. I’m also trying to catch up w y’all in the MMP; I’ve abandoned most of the rest of the SDMB for 2 weeks now.

Lemme start by saying how happy I am FCM survived the night with no additional crises other than the lack of sleep hospitals work so hard to create. It’s soo much easier to unravel the mystery while the patient is both a) still alive and b) compos mentis to interview.

I think she means she can sleep in in the morning after sunrise having fallen asleep wile it’s dark. But talking an afternoon nap, or going to bed shortly before sunset while it’s still bright out? That just ain’t happenin’.

I read that as “… missing the demon owner’s manual”. Works about as well my way as yours.

But you’re certainly right; the medical folks would pay dearly for one of those. If only Og had thought to leave that rather than just 10 or 12 silly-assed commandments on those clay tablets.

Yeah, there is that. I commented to somebody a couple days ago that if you’re ever on a sloping road in the south half of Florida, you know it’s a bridge over something, because there are simply no hills, valleys, dips, or rises anywhere. Except for all the marshy ground, it’s a railroader’s (or bicyclist’s) dream.

Naah. More like having your own personal fireworks show. Fun to watch, but hard to see through. Real scary the first time it happens to you if (like me way back when or you yesterday) you’d never heard of such a thing by any name.

For some people it’s a prodrome to a migraine headache. Not so for me, but if that were a sign of an impending migraine, mine yesterday would have been a doozy.

VistaPrint: Online Printing Services will fix you right up for rather little money.

Actually I glitched that slightly. I forgot you’re whiskeypalian, not Catholic. So I assumed knowledge you may not have had.

Roughly speaking, in RCC parlance the Imprimatur is the official stamp of doctrinal approval by the Church bureaucracy applied to whatever book, text, opinion, or whatever they’re approving. That’s not to say it’s infallible, simply that anyone disagreeing will be getting an earful of trouble from higher HQ; perhaps even the Pope hisself.

So the imprimatur Ursus homomaximus is the unassailable expert opinion of Ursus homomaximus. Which moniker needs no explanation. So go forth and pontificate there UM.

Aside: there used to be a Doper named Vox_Imperatoris. I’ve not seen them in years, but I always liked their name.

Yaay! Here’s hoping it holds up that way.

As to Spot and yeeting…

This morning while I was internet retailing an entertaining “suggested for you” item appeared. It was a coffee mug with a cartoon caricature of a very annoyed cat announcing

Touch my coffee and I’ll kick you so hard even Google won’t be able to find you!!1!

Of course I immediately thought of Spot with the bitch face. Has Spot in fact sampled coffee? What does he think of it?

Funny, I can Google up a metric shitload of pictures of such cups for sale, in either “slap you” or “kick you” variants, with a wide variety of annoyed and threatening mascots, characters, and charlatans, but none of them are the one I saw. Go figure. I guess that cat got angry at his own cup and yeeted it (and himself) into another dimension altogether.

In more Brown follies presumably involving much unplanned yeeting, the package tracking for my long-missing and now long-since-replaced gizmo had shown it settled in NorCal before the holiday break.

The latest tracking now shows it enjoyed the holiday break right there, then jumped about 50 miles across the Bay Area in 10 minutes flat to a different warehouse (color me “skeptical”), then has flown to Louisville KY which is at least in the right general direction towards Miami and is a big Brown hub. But … from the scan departure and arrival times they must have been using a prop plane or forgot to unload the plane for a day. But at least it’s back in my time zone now. Shame my first act on receiving it will be to start Amazon’s return process. Without even opening the outer box.

Had a mostly productive morning here on Thu with a side order of banking vexation now resolved. Good thing I started to work the underlying money movement problem a couple weeks before the actual deadline. That gave the bank(s) time to utterly foul things up, then us to unscramble it, and try to do it again, and still not run out of time. Assuming the second attempt in flight right now lands correctly over the next day or two.

Had intended to have Big Boy Lunch today but Friend’s workday exploded, so we’ll retry tomorrow.

In very sad news, BB is catching some illness, is exhausted, or both after a run of ghastly workweeks and a no-rest weekend with me in the middle. So she will not be joining me this weekend. I’ve set up a hotel there for Sunday night only on the assumption that by then we’ll know whether it’s illness or exhaustion, or after a couple nights at home alone she’s had a recovery. So we’ll either have zero or one night together as the Fates dictate. She ought to be able to survive 1 night of pon faar.

Welp, that’s enough driveling for now. Back to labors.

Hope FCM got that dessert she’s craving as well as some answers. And a parole date; that’s really the thing a prisoner hospitalized patient most wants to know: when am I gonna get sprung?!?!

Cheers all!!

I got my cookie, then sent FCD home. I can call when they kick me out. If I don’t hear anything in an hour, I need to put in a dinner order, just in case. Otherwise, I’ll lie here reading my trashy novels or playing brainless games.

I want a shower - if they don’t send me home tonight I need to use the shower here. I feel icky, especially after the EEG stuff was removed from my scalp. C’mon, doc! I wanna go home!
