(Old) Hauntings in the MMP

Wow. Congratulations!!

Very nice!

I, Sticks and Scones, stand before you this morning as an admitted airhead. I will not be going to pick up MusicMan today and going to my favorite place.

Why?

My knees/legs can only stand about 2-3 hours of driving (even with breaks for stopping and stretching and walking). I was going to stretch it out a bit for the trip. But then I realized something vitally important… I’d have to drive back home!

So, MusicMan will be renting a car and I will be staying here making a reduced sugar “Welcome Home” cake.

Happy Wednesday, everyone, and I hope you get to go out tonight, BooFae!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 73 and cloudy. A Fall day here in south Jawja. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions. Then we shall hone our RDOS inactivities skills this afternoon. I shall head over to the church house this evenin’ for the usual Hump Day activities. We are havin’ catered meals as of tonight. The caterin’ place is a really good one, so lookin’ forward to that. OYKW is goin’ as well. He’s decided to give it another go. Methinks the lure of nummy food played a big role in this decision.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I suffer for my public!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

OMG! That’s amazing! And it’s close to me now. Obviously they’ve repainted it in the last 50 years…

I didn’t mention that one of our less-apt club members flew it out over the desert east of San Diego, made and emergency landing, and flipped it over. We did retrieve it and get it fixed and all. Can’t believe it’s still going…

Or maybe not - I just found out the numbers can be reassigned.

And congrats, MetalMouse! Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy!

It’s 34-stoopit-degrees as I type this. I just finished my grocery list and I’ll be heading to Food Lion shortly. They’ve got a deal when turkey is 27¢/lb if you buy $35 or more in other stuff. Well, duh! So I’m heading out in hopes of getting a small bird. The plan is to smoke it, then divide it into freezer bags, some for Thanksgiving, some for future meals. Of course, it won’t get smoked till next week, since it’ll take that long to thaw in the fridge (and I’m in no hurry.) I may manage to go back for another before next Tuesday. So huzzah!

Poor FCD - not only worries about his mom, but he keeps having dreams about Higgs. Having to put her down really hit him. I almost suggested he think about getting another dog, but that would just bring more down on me. Every dog we’ve had turned into my chore for feeding, grooming, cleaning up after, hauling to the vet… even if he did all that, I’d have to keep reminding him, which would turn into nagging. Not going there. Plus we’d have to rely on Daughter to dog-sit for us every time we wanted to go somewhere. Nope, he’ll have to get his dog fix from Trevor.

And lest someone mention it, I already suggested fostering, and he turned that down flat.

Anyway, he’s having a bad time of it and I don’t know what to do. His mom seems to deteriorate every day and it’s really hard to watch, knowing there’s absolutely nothing we can do but try to keep her comfortable. And this less than 2 years after watching his dad die…

Sorry for being a bummer.

Happy Wednesday! I’m off to hunt and gather.

Morning all, slept in all the way to 7:30am. Rain is due this evening and overnight, so might mow the lawn this morning (or not). Otherwise some general housework and putting the garbage out will be my major tasks for the day. It does appear that my prescriptions will be ready around noontime so i need to pick them up. 61F heading to 65F so may possibly kick on the heat today for the first time this season, we’ll see how the house thermostat reacts.

Thanks for all the congrats, I know I do a lot for the soccer region, but so do a lot of others and I was surprised last night. Now if I can get my phone to upload a couple pictures (it’s being stubborn or I’m being dumb) I’ll put it up on the Book of Faces.

Real Fish, sometimes it’s nice to make a spectacle of yourself…(they do look good on you).

JtC, don’t much care for lemons in my water, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. And kudos to you for learning some of the local language. I have always been terrible at languages, in four years in the UAE I learned about 8-10 Arabic words, so probably missed out on a lot. And listening is a superpower, never doubt that.

flyboy, good on ya, but there may be 10 sets of parents who aren’t too thrilled with your donation…

FCM, Since it is relatively close, you just may have to venture out there and see if it is still the same aircraft or not. Would be amazing if it was. And manly-type hugs to FCD, it’s tough watching someone you love waste away, I hope her passing is peaceful when it comes and that he gets some professional counseling (from what you’ve said he won’t, but I hope he thinks about it).

VanGo, when I re-opened the MMP this morning, it went to the ‘last read’ message, but I’ll watch for the problem, it would irritate me too.

Sticky Buns, couldn’t Music Man drive you back after you drove out there? Or is just sitting in the car those extra 3 hours just as bad for your knees?

And need to break my fast, eating at that soccer thing last night has thrown my usual weekly schdule out of whack, so need to decide what to have for the early meal. Problems, problems…

swampy, glad OYKW is feeling better, enjoy letting someone else feed you tonight.

this has been quite the weather week in philly. we finally got some rain and now we are in the mid thirties.

yest. the wind really picked up and the temps started dropping. when i got home i emptied the bin that had jackets and coats. tonight will be knit hat and scarf search, with spring/summer clothes into the empty bin.

now that the weather is starting to cool the excuses not to paint a few walls is getting thin.

congratulations on the award stainless steel rat!

Okay, today supposedly my denture is ready. I hope it fits!.
It started out at 32, but is to get to 55 later.

I started back at the gym Monday after being gone 4 weeks cuz of COVID. The workout kicked my butt. Rode Ariel yesterday. Getting a massage today for the assorted aches and pains.

Chances are it’s not, since I found out numbers can be reassigned and I found another photo with another plane sporting the same number. Nope, not worth a ride to Stafford.

Just back from Food Lion after spending in excess of $80 (which would have been more had I not used my MVP card.) And I scored my $20 off coupon, which could translate to a free Butterball turkey, with some leftover. We’ll see how I’m feeling later this week/early next week.

Meanwhile my cheapie turkey is in the fridge to thaw. Maybe I can smoke it on Sunday, tho it may not be de-iced enough by then. No rush - we shall see. Plus I scored 2-12 packs of terlit paper on sale and an additional coupon on them. I now have 48 rolls in reserve, not counting what’s in the linen closet and the basement bathroom. Huzzah!

Temp has climbed to 43° but the sun is out, so I expect it’ll hit the promised 60° eventually. MIL is up and breakfasting. Hoping we hear from Jessica soon - MIL gets cranky if she can’t have her shower first thing in the morning (it’s just after 10 now.) Aaaaand I just got a text from her - it’ll be noonish.

I picked up some hot dog buns, so supper will be weenies or brats along with the leftover beans and slaw from our chicken dinner the other night. Easy-peasy.

OTOH, if even one kid takes up the harp as an instrument instead of just a toy, I’d consider that a success. (Not that I’d ever know.)

I’m around, I’ve been lurking but I don’t have much to say & am dealing with a pile of Life Stuff that is kicking my mental health.

shoe {{{}}} Me too.

Me three.

Love and hugs all around, from afar.

There’s a thread someplace about “what made you smile today” and I tell you, this made me smile. You so deserve this! (And the card doesn’t hurt either.} Congrats to you and to the soccer folks who thought to do this for you as well.

So I kept being sent to the 200 Table, and to secondary sort, because those were FUBAR. Plus the air was late. But at least I made a few hours.

But what are the odds of an N number being reassigned to another 1973 Cessna 150?

It’s not like he’s donating 10 recorders.

there is a portal thing in philly, looks like a more upscale “guardian of forever”. Philadelphia gets its own Portal relocated from New York to connect across the world - CBS Philadelphia

they recently moved it due to the upcoming christmas village.

it is allergy shot day, and due to the new location i walked right by it. on the way to shots, i waved to people in lithuania; on the way back to the office, i waved to people in ireland.

it is fun and a bit sci fi.

Boy, I thought I’d left deer danger behind me when I got out of the rural north and down here into the Cities area… But I swear, over the last two weeks I’ve seen more huge-ass dead deer on the side of the freeways than I ever saw up there. I’m glad your folks made it through without major injury.

A drive down the river highway on the WI side is a trip through total carnage at times. Dead deer, raccoons, squirrels, etc. It’s just mayhem.

Bummer!!! I called the city performing arts center to be sure of what door at the mall to bring my gingerbread house and I got back “you didn’t get the email?” Turns out there were a lot of conflicts with the new venue and the event has been cancelled for this year. It’s three quarters done with no place to go!

Imma gonna finish it anyway. Then I think I’ll take it to church on Sunday and have a drawing to give it away. No money involved unless whoever gets it would like to make a donation to their favorite charity.

I’m sorry they did this to you! But, be sure when it’s finished, to share pictures with us. Your idea for its destination is lovely.

Gee, I was logged out, but not really. Is the site being weird?

We’re promised a good bit of rain starting tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll be dealing with leaves tomorrow morning. Then I have some houseplants that need to be divided and/or replanted. So tomorrow will be a dirty-hands day.

Neither FCD nor his mother wanted supper, so I had a yogurt with a handful of blueberries and if they want something later, they can deal. MIL keeps waking from dreams in strange confused states - first time looking at commercials on TV and saying something about fires, then a bit later, waking up looking on the floor around her chair, thinking she dropped ice cream.

Earlier she asked me how old FCD is (he turned 68 last week) and less than a minute later, asked me again how old he is. She had to ask me how old BIL is. She’s so confused - it’s sad and a bit scary. FCD just looked at some paperwork - she’s been in Hospice since May - her decline in the last 6 months has been dramatic. I hope I don’t do this to my daughter.

In a little while, I’ll put on some shorts and hop on the bike downstairs. I’m watching a documentary about Henry VIII and the men who had major roles in his life (as opposed to the documentaries about his wives.) He was pretty screwed up from the start because he was the spare and his father paid him little attention till his elder brother died. Then all of a sudden at age 10, he had to learn how to be a king. Then when he turned 17, he was king, even tho he wasn’t much interested in the job. Anyway, I watched the first episode yesterday, so tonight, Cardinal Woolsey comes into his sphere.

I texted with Daughter about Thanksgiving. She’ll do the smashed spuds, and she’ll probably bring a chocolate cherry cake, since her kids don’t much like punkin pie. The menu plan is turkey, dressing, gravy, smashed spuds, baked sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry jelly (schlumped from a can) and green stuff (a pistachio pudding/pineapple/mini-marshmallow/cool whip monstrosity that’s become a family tradition.) And we’ll be eating around 5 or so since SIL has to work till 3. I’m going to get paper plates and throw-away cups to minimize dishes. That’s the plan so far.

OK, back to knitting till Wheel starts, then I’ll be heading downstairs.
