(Old) Hauntings in the MMP

Hugs to all the struggling mumpers.

Change of plans here. There were no rental cars available anywhere so I drove to PA and we’re currently in a hotel room. Then we’ll drive back tomorrow. This will give me a break from sitting in the car which is the problem in general. It’s actually easier for me to drive, but neither driving nor riding is good for an extended time.

The excellent news is that we get to go to Grand View Point in the morning!!

Come on up north! We’ll feed you.

Conga-rats! I’m glad that they appreciate your efforts.

Have you coached any kids whose parents you also coached?

My dad misses having a dog, but absolutely loves it when his granddogs come to visit. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that most of them are descendants of his last girl.

It’s a chilly day here in middle TN. I got out the Thanksgiving cards to prep for sending this evening. I’ll get them in the mail Friday. Not a whole lot else shakin’ at CasaRoja.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Not yet but it seems inevitable that it will happen one day.

And a good evening to you. Managed to dither long enough for it to rain a bit so I had a perfect excuse for not mowing the lawn. Did my swimming and wonder of wonders, the Jacuzzi was working for the first time in over a month, so spent some extra time there. But it must have softened my brain, walked out leaving my hearing aids in the locker room, remembered them before leaving the parking lot and they were right where I left them. I my defense, it is the first time I forgot them, hopefully it’ll be a wake-up call to my brain to double check for them.

Garbage has been taken out but since Monday was a holiday, not in a rush to get it to the curb (pickup will be Friday). Has rained on and off all day and more is expected tonight, so staying indoors is planned.

Coppertone, hope the dentures fit ok.

FCM, have my shopping list and digital coupons set for my Firday shopping and should get enough points to have at least $1.00/gallon off my next fillup. Good wishes for turkey acquisition. And that Henry VIII documentary sounds interesting; English politics were often as complex as “Byzantine” politics were supposed to be.

Shoe, Vango, BBBoo, {{{{{hugs}}}}} all around.

katie (and others), thanks for the notes, they do touch me. As for the card, it’s already spend (the casual slip-on shoes should arrive next Monday).

rocky, that is a really neat thing there in Philly. And hope the shots weren’t troublesome.

Niner, I live deep in suburbia, so much fewer deer interactions, but get on the interstates and there’s loads of them.

Cupcakes, that is a very nice thing you are doing with the gingerbread house.

Sticky Buns, sounds like a good plan, safe and easy on your aches. Take care and enjoy the Grand View.

And dinner has been consumed, dishes are where they are supposed to be, and I’m contemplating going back to the gym for a little treadmill walking (started it a few weeks ago as a change from bike pedaling and am enjoying it more than I thought).

Can you tuck them in a pocket or fold them in your wallet? Or put them in a case attached to your keys?

This from the woman who left her phone in the car when going into Food Lion. At least I didn’t leave it home this time.

It’s on Paramount+ if you subscribe to that.

45 minutes on the bike and I’m about to assume my place on my recliner for more knittage. Onward!

ETA: Wendy’s is advertising a salted caramel Frosty… drool

Howdy Y’all! Home from the church house doin’s. Actually been home for a while but needed a little chill time. Sup was baked skettie, sallit, rolls and a dessert called apple delight. It was cold and had apple pie like fillin’, crumbles and a whipped cream toppin’. ‘Twas quite good. I did the class thing and OYKW opted to sit and socialize with some folks who like doin’ that. I am glad that’s an option.

I shall now look at teh intartoobz for a bit and then go sleepy bye.

I’ve been tracking a package from @DHL all afternoon. I watched (on the map) the driver drive past our street. When s/he was 10 miles away, I called DHL but they were not very helpful. Now the Follow My Parcel app says s/he’s 18 stops away. It still says I should receive the package by 22:00. Not that I have to work in the morning or anything. :frowning:

Actually the dentures need sanded down.
The gum part is too long, it needs shortened if I’m to wear them and use them.
Sitting here with some Savory Herb stuffing.
Alas rain here tomorrow too.

I went to the periodontist for a cleaning last week, and to the dentist today. The dentist said I still need a crown (been hearing that for years), and that I’ll have to have my implant extracted at some point. Other than that, he liked my mouth. I got new X-rays.

Another milestone with Sadie. She showed interest in a piece of string, so I started dragging it around and she was actually responding to play. Took some catnip out of a bag we have and rubbed it all over a yarn ball and she was batting it around the room. Her eyes are a bit dilated, so I’m guessing she’s kinda stoned on the leaf, but this is the most normal she’s acted since we got her. Yay for us!

We have Jingle Mouse, a bright green mouse toy with a bell inside. We’ve had Jingle mouse from Harvey, to Tonka, to Creamsicle, and now we have Goo and Abbey. Goo and Abbey haven’t shown much interest, but they play with it sometimes. Yesterday I put Jingle Mouse into the catnip jar. We’ll see what happens when I take it out…

I do loves me some mystery meat! They are building a Taco Bell in town that might handle a few lunches for us.

I’ll bet there are a whole bunch of videos on You Tube.

I have noticed and not been best pleased as well.

What she said! You have touched the future, one child at a time.

That’s kinda like our home was in Spring Valley. We slept there on a regular basis and our cats lived there, but we were gone 10-12 hours a day and out and about on the weekends. It was in decent repair, but there were so many more things that needed to be done that we sold it “as is” for 10 grand under the zillow value.

Oh, dang. I read ahead and saw that you found another solution, I’m happy you are going to able to spend time at your happy place

Hubs used to go to my team building things because they always fed us so well. Of course he would just show up for the food and leave after eating, but most of the husbands wouldn’t even do that, LOL!

Didn’t you mention that he had talked to someone about his feelings after his father died? Can he give them a call now, it is obvious that he is suffering.

I spent a lot of time watching American TV dubbed into Japanese. Charley’s Angels was very interesting with Farrah F. Majors speaking Japanese. The Japanese not only watched Lassie, they had their own hero dog show as well. I was young and motivated and my brain was much more plastic than it is now. I doubt I could have done it when I was 40.

No doubt. I’m glad you were able to get a ride in, I’m sure Ariel missed you.

(((shoe)))

(((VanGo)))

(((Boo)))

Are they ever going to make you full time? Doesn’t Spot get upset when your schedule keeps changing? Hubs said Steve used to claw at the door when he thought it was time for me to come home.

That sounds very fun!

Well, that sucks. It is nice of you to donate it to the church, I hope they make a few bucks off it.

I’m glad you mentioned the gingerbread house again, I wanted to ask what kind of candies you use for the windows. I assume they are hard candy in the colors you want, but is there a special brand or would Werther’s or something like that do?

Go Sadie! She sounds like she’s settling right in, I’m happy for you all.

My baby lemon tree arrived by FedEx today and it looks pretty healthy. It came in a narrow pot that has a kinda angled base and is very tippy. I’ll get a terra cotta pot tomorrow, with a flat base and a little weight to stop the fuzzbutts from knocking it over.

They have both inspected it and both of them put a leaf in their mouth. Both of them thought that lemon leaves do not taste good at all, which will be helpful.

My new food processor also arrived today and looks simple to operate while not taking a lot of cabinet room. After swimming, I will go to Lowes for citrus soil and a pot, then stop at the grocery store and buy a bag of potatoes so I can run it through it’s paces. I found a new recipe for tamale masa that requires a food processor to deal with the whole corn, so I will probably give that a try as well.

shoe, I see you typing, so I’m going to ask you for lemon tree advice and then leave the mic to you.

Granted my experience is from 30 years ago but I always used Life Savers candies (crushed) for stained glass cookies or for gingerbread house windows. Those variety rolls give you some red, yellow, green, etc. The peppermint and spearmint Lifesavers don’t work of course, only the ‘clear’ fruit flavored ones. Butterscotch Lifesavers if they still make them might work for gold windows.

Jolly Ranchers will also work, although they can be harder to crush. They also come in lots of pretty colors. I bet Jolene would love to help you unwrap hundreds of Lifesavers or Jolly Ranchers…until she grew weary of hockey pucking them under the refrigerator and couch.

I’m reading The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Playing The Harmonica. Hopefully, I’ll stick to it this time.

Hey, wait, how many candies are needed for a window? I watched a British Baking show featuring gingerbread houses and they just put a whole candy in the window hole on camera.

Unwrapping crinkling wrappers are indeed one of Jolene’s favorite things to do. She almost makes me miss smoking tobacco, crumbled up cigarette packs were a super favorite kitty toy.

I needed to get out of my own head-space, and was miraculously having a decent physical-health day, despite mental health stuff … so I shoved a pizza in the oven, saw there was another already in there that needed immediate attention, yelled “we got bubbles!” (code for: “this pizza basically needs 911”) and then very politely, uh, took over.

I haven’t run the ovens in I don’t know how long.

Had to ask for “HAAALLP!” at one point (there were two too many - say that two times fast) but I think I mostly did O.K.

One came out a weeee bit too done, although I think nearly all the others were good … but I do at least pride myself on how delicately I set all of them down precisely on their cardboard rounds.

A couple of the Oven Masters absolutely yeet those pizzas in the vague general direction of their rounds, which then involves someone (often me) carefully tap-tap-shifting & moving a molten-hot disc of food into its proper place, without touching it with their bare hands … and yes, it can be done.

I have successfully dealt with two of the things, and have promised myself that, after a bit of zombie-murdering and hanging with y’all, I will eat a proper meal.

Misery loves company, eh?

Good thoughts back to both of y’all.

Oh, I remember recorders in late elementary school. That poor teacher.

Only thing worse would’ve been donating ten drum sets.

That’s really friggin’ cool.

When life gives you lemons gingerbread …

Did you do pretty “stained glass” windows with melted sugar candies?

Dang, and I thought my childhood was screwed up.

Also, your average 17-year-old boy is .. let’s say a bit too wild, and distracted by … things, to be running an entire friggin’ kingdom.

There are F.B. groups specifically for potted citrus plants. They have far more detailed advice than me, which is, “I guess ya hafta water it, bring it inside before it freezes … and I dunno, fertilizer occasionally?”

Seaweed spray (diluted) spritzed onto the leaves always seems to perk it up after too much neglect.

I got this message from DHL:

We were unable to deliver your DHL Express shipment with waybill number 7704203802 from SINMI today because you were not home at the time of our attempted delivery.

This is a lie! I’ve been home all day. I watched as their delivery driver bypassed my street. I watched as they got farther and farther away. I called to tell them the driver missed the delivery. DHL LIES!

Didn’t get much napping in, because they came to prep paint the water spots from the flood. But having a martini, and meatballs and tortellini with a side of hockey.

Looks more like a Stargate

LOL. I’m 4 miles from downtown, but someone hit a deer a half mile away. Across the street from the EMS station.

That’s up there with whatever B-52 pilot that is sitting in his grandfather’s dried sweat right now.

[Brown Hat on]Some of that is Next Day air(due by 10:30A.M.) and businesses that close receiving at noon. Some of that is that nobody tweaked the auto schduling program, so it does weird stuff.[/Brown Hat off]

Everybody lies to keep their metrics in line.

Yay!

Considering the CBA says there’s only supposed to be 2 hours between shifts, and all we have left is Preload(0500-0900) and Twilight(5pm-930pm), there won’t be any more full time positions. The real problem is the new DM is against 6th punch working, which is where I make the big $$$$.

Only, I watched real time as the driver drove past my street.

Computer: “Drive past Flyboy
Driver: “Work as instructed.”

Sorry. I feel for you. I am at the point of taking photos of USPS driving by and screenshots showing that they say they’re one stop from me and that they’re on my street before they vanish. With USPS at least, I’ve been able to call the postmaster for my zip code. Last time, they claimed that the driver’s GPS showed that he delivered a package to my house. They helpfully included a photo of the package at the door. I helpfully rejoined that that wasn’t my house no matter what their GPS said, but was two streets over with the same house number. This at least caused USPS to send me an official email stating that they were unable to retrieve the item and that I should contact the sender for a replacement and include a copy of this message.

ETA: USPS also delivers packages when we have a hold placed, leaving them to be rained on for days (at best). FedEx has a bad habit of leaving medications in cold packs in the driveway so they can catch full sun before we run over them. Amazon dors the same, or wanders into our gated back yard and leaves packages at the back door. This is despite several complaints and a delivery note that says, Hey, don’t deliver in the unmarked alley. Go to the well-marked street you were on before you decided to meander to the other side of the house. No DHL or UPS errors recently.
