(Old) Heading to the land of penguins in the MMP

Just a brief Dad update. He’s currently on the way to Vanderbilt. The nurse called to tell me, including the room number he’ll be in. Hubby and I are going to visit him tomorrow and I’ll hopefully have a better idea of what the plan is.

He called me this morning. He kept apologizing for screwing everything up, that if he hadn’t messed up (what, I don’t know) we’d all be together in New York. Never mind that if we’d stayed in NY, he wouldn’t have met my step-mom, I wouldn’t have had the experiences that put me as the right person for Hubby when we met, that I wouldn’t have CtE and BtY. I tried to tell him this but he was just feeling so low. He was upset that he was putting this on me, regardless of the fact that I’ve been putting all sorts of shit on him for almost 50 years. I kept from crying while I was on the phone with him but as soon as I hung up, I sobbed.

I know it won’t be the last time.

The usual heaving, we were a bit short handed again. Ace goes back to the shelter on Sunday afternoon. He has responded by eating my mattress.

This

A little drafty at Morning Mass, though.

{{{{Fishy}}}}

doggio Sorry to hear that Ace isn’t going to work.

{{{Fishy}}} Getting old sucks.

spicy Good on you for gettin the shoveling done. And this greek chicken intrigues me. Some yoghurt/lemon juice marinade?

Me? I’m prepping for a cold (er) snap. Not supposed to get above 15 for the next day or 2. Just got contacted by the school dept, and they want some help with things, but a) I don’t think they want to pay me enough, and b) I’m not entirely sure what they’re asking me to do.

Feel better soonest metal mouse.

I’m sorry that Ace didn’t work out for you doggio. Somewhere out there, there’s a good dog for you.

I’ve mostly slothed and played in the studio today. I actually adulted briefly when I called the pharmacy to fill a couple of prescriptions. I gold the pharmacist that I had changed insurance and she told me that it was already updated. Yay! Nothing more required on my part.

Back to piecing paper.

Lemon juice/garlic. Yogurt is one of the 3,987 things Spouse Weasel can’t eat. (Technically he can’t eat garlic, either, but as long as I stick to a small amount he’s okay.)

Evening all. I did make it out of the house today, did a little shopping at Wal-Mart, then backstroked about 3/4 of a mile at the gym, then stopped at Jersey Mike’s for my usual Moanday sammich which has now been consumed as dinner. Got back home and realized that the furnace filters I had bought were the wrong size (I need 20x30x1 filters and bought 24x30x1ones…dumbth). So went back to Wal-Mart with the receipt and asked to exchange them, but they said no, we can only give you your money back, which they promptly did and I just as promptly went and spent it on the right size.

Had temperatures in the 32-34F range with plenty of sun so the roads were passable and even my driveway has melted down, but the temps have been steadily falling (24F now at 6:30pm) and it should get to 10-11F tonight, so a lot of the water that melted on the roads will be ‘black ice’ tomorrow, and I want no part of that! So a weekend inside is likely.

Taters, so you didn’t light it, but you’re trying to fight it… Hope the walkies went well.

talkie, glad the new furnace is humming along. Just got my gas bill for next month and it wasn’t as bad as I though, so more heat tonight! And bosses do weird stuff…guess that’s why their bosses…

FCM, should have remembered to remind you about adapters. The ship should have ones for sale (at marked-up prices) on-board if you really need one.

Flyboy, sounds a lot like my place, the side streets like I live on were bad but expected, but until today the main streets were just as slippery. Think Wifey-RN is wise to take a day off.

Oopsie, hope the weather improves by next Thursday for you. Down here starting Moanday it’s going to be rainy and in the 40/50’s all week.

Cookie, happy humidifying!!

Spicey, just a long distance {{ }} because I think you need one.

Real Fish, I remember my dad as he aged always feeling sorry about things and how useless he felt. Tears are a necessity at this time.

doggio, sorry that Ace didn’t work out, maybe someone with a different schedule can manage him; you did your very best for him.

OK, temperature has dropped to 22F while I was typing this, so will continue with the internettin’ and maybe some reading before bedtime. Take care all.

Thinking of you, fishy.

We just got back from dinner. Anderson Rd (the more heavily used road) has been plowed. Our street hasn’t, but it’s much better than it was this morning.

OK, folks, it’s time to play Name! That! Plant! It’s very mysterious. I found it in a flower pot of potting soil (Miracle Grow) in the unhappy eated closet off my balcony. I bought the pot last May, but I don’t think I put anything in there bbefore ides the soil, which is still ver loose. Here’s what it looks like. It’s hard, like a crayon. Any guesses? Should I water it and see what happens, or might I unleash an apocalyptic force on the world?

FCM, I’m so sorry daughter’s school closed, and so suddenly. What a blow. There’s a shortage of certified administrators, so hopefully she’ll find another job soon.

Yay on making it to Santiago! Aside from the gate change, it sounds like smooth sailing.

RealFish, I’m sorrier than I can say about your dad. There’s no way to make this easier. It’s a good thing you have the strength and support you do, but I wish you didn’t need them. I’ll be thinking about your dad. He sounds like a good sort.

doggio, the fez makes the outfit, with or without pants. I’m sorry about Ace. I don’t know what kind of home he needs. Ma ybe a used mattress and disposal company? I hope he finds it and that you find a dog who’s a good fit for you.

Oh, my gosh! I’m having herbed rice, chicken, and broccoli, but combined! I think you’re wise to rest up.

VanGo, sounds like you have good reason to hesitate about whatever the school wants.

MetalMouse, I hope you’re not coming down with anything. Well can’t have such a nice guy under the weather. I’m glad you were able to gym and WalMart, but black ice is scary, so I hopae you stay home and rest tomorrow. (Sorry if I sound like your mother, though I bet she was a nice lady.)

Speaking of dinner, we went to Gateway 1890’s Smuggler’s Tunnel Speak Easy Spirits Room (I’ve called The Speakeasy, and The Wife called it Smuggler’s Inn). The waitress remembered our drinks (Hemingway daiquiris, mine without sugar – three apiece). This time we started with the shrimp cocktail (six large shrimp, plus cocktail sauce), and we both had the chicken-fried chicken chicken ‘Wiener Schnitzel’.

nellie I always name inanimate things “George.” So that’s what I shall call your plant. Kinda looks like some kind of bulb/rhizome thingy. But sprouting this time of year? Maybe it is Audrey 2.

Hey everyone. I’m alive and well, I have been reading and reacting appropriately, but needle and thread have been demanding my attention since Tuesday and how could I resist? Especially when it has been so nice that I can move to the front porch and enjoy the sun.

Stay well and be safe!

I made three kinds of cookie dough today, and will be baking Sunday. I hope I don’t eat most of it before then.

I’ve been fantasizing about cookies all day long.

Molasses, peanut butter, and bon bon cookies?

Hey, y’all. Send me some good vibes. I’m feeling down. Cookies are good, too!

What type do you like best?

Then that’s whatever I’ll call it, too!

That’s intriguing, thanks.

I saw flower buds on some shrubs today despite the frigid temps of a few days ago. I never go in that closet this time of year, so it could have sprouted weeks or months ago. I’m a little creeped out, but I’m also curious, so I guess I’ll see what it does. If it’s Audrey II, I don’t know whom it could have eaten. I shall eye it suspiciously lest it thinks I look delicious.

Have sent and hope the mulligrubs dissipate pronto.

About the plant, if it is named George will you love him and hug him and pet him and squeeze him too?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Ace got my closet open nd wrecked 2 12 packs of TP.

That would be Abominable.
