(Old) Here It Is! The MMP

I applied for a Dispatcher/Service Writer position 13 miles (25 minutes) east of here, then drove down and dropped off paper copies of my résumé, and the letter of recommendation from La Jefa.

I went to CVS to pick up a prescription. $119. I knew it was expensive, but damn! I wanted to make sure they had my new insurance. (We went from Regence to Kaiser on the first of the year. I’ll have it through February, and then I’ll be uninsured.) They still had Regence, so the took my Kaiser card and sent me away for ten minutes. Then I had to wait in line for ten minutes. Finally got my prescription, using the new insurance, and it was a little under $13.

Mrs. L.A. is making Pepperidge Farms apple turnovers for dinner… to follow up her leftover lobster-and-shrimp mac’n’cheese. I’m making chicken thighs and broccoli for my dinner.

I’m very stressed and have been escaping with the needle. And some weed.

I’m not a huge fan of the colors, the colors didn’t really show on the website when I ordered it. But the pattern was fun.

Howdy Y’all! We went over to the church house so I could deal with stuff and had a surprise. There’s a leak in a water line and much water on the floor. Bein’ the angels :innocent: that we are, we put a bucket under the leak and mopped up a bunch of water. I texted Baby Priest and the Senior and Junior Wardens cause dealin’ with it ain’t our problem. So we did that and I took care of candle and other duties over. Neither of us wanted to go Eggs Up after that, so we got a McLunch and brought it back to da cave to eat. Nappage was much needed after all that. We also day drank. We were worried about scurvy and malaria from moppin’ up water. We watched some more All Creatures Great and Small as well. We get a big kick outta Mrs. Pumphrey as well.

Peedin sorry about your friend’s death and your other friend’s illness.

Evening all. Exercise is completed, a little more shopping concluded, and dinner has been consumed. Am making like Bugs Bunny and chomping on carrots as I type (and none of my neighbors are named Elmer…) and since I signed up for a 8am soccer game referee job I’ll probably be turning in early tonight. I did get all my 2025 files filed and put away, now to start organizing for the 2026 paperwork. Weather Underground says it is raining so I had to go look, it is but very lightly and should depart by midnight.

doggio, like Bluto Blutarsky says: My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

wet one, not a happy holiday letter. I am sorry for your friend’s illness and the death of another.

FCM, I don’t think I have any contacts from school or college or even from work. A hermit I could be, but I do have the Mumpers, and that’s all right by me.

Maus, nice touch with the stromboli.

Flyboy, hope the new jobs comes through, would be a whole lot less driving (or maybe more if you have to go in every day). And yikes! on the medication bill, glad the new insurance was a big help.

JtC, lovely piece of work.

Swampy, as one who specializes in leaks, glad you caught it when you did, hopefully they can get it repaired without having to take up a special collection.

And nearly 8pm and with a probably 6:30am wakeup call, won’t be around the internets too much longer. Take care and catch you (sometime) tomorrow.

Up from naptime, watching hockey. Dinner tonight is chipolte catfish, lime cilantro rice, and corn with chilies. and a margarita(no ice).

{{{{WetOne}}}}. that’s awful for both friends.

A papercut when dinner involves citrus. :grimacing:

That’s the important part.

the new one? I like the 1978 one with Peter Davidson(the Fifth Doctor)

I suspect that the first amount was no-insurance, as I no longer have Regence. Still, it seems like I’d spent $90 in the past. That might have been before I had insurance, though.

Helping SenBoy with his math homework. For some reason he got off on the wrong foot on math and lost interest, but school still requires homework and such.

He’s had a month to do the homework but has left it to the last moment, of course.

His friend and he did some homework a couple of days ago and but it’s down to the wire and I’ve got to help him.

Up until now I’ve gotten really frustrated when helping him because he’s just not as fast as me (my degree is in engineering so I’m good at the subject) but I’ve worked at lowering my expectations and just helping. It’s going a lot smoother.

I was doing great in math in elementary school, until I was sick they day they taught the quadratic formula. I went through Pre-Calculus in high school. and then started from Algebra I in college and went through Calculus and got an A in all of them. Can I remember Trig and Calculus now? No. But it was a lot easier once I grokked the rules.

Made it through Trigonometry in High School but managed to avoid math in College.

Sensei, wait-until-the-last-minute is not unusual among high school students here in the USA and nice to know they can be the same elsewhere.

And 10pm and I plan to be up at 6:30am tomorrow, so bedtime beckons.

I’m actually waiting until the last minute to plan my lessons for the upcoming term so I can’t say anything.

I was great up through calculus and then had a harder time with differentials. Then there were some higher level math classes than kicked my butt and I just memorized things to pass the test.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 33 degrees Ferret Height(1 Centipede) outside.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with a predicted high of 8c/47f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s merely fucking average outside. Sort of like all the fucking Michael Bay movies.”

One of my previous cats (Orly) was a semi-longhaired marmalade tabby. Beautiful fluffy coat, three shades of red and she shed constantly. With her fur being very obvious on any dark surface, you knew it was time to rollsuck when the living room carpet went from dark purple to orange!

I doubt you’ll have any problems at all, especially since European rail stations are so much better organised than mine! It would have been a leisurely stroll between platforms yesterday if it hadn’t been for the fact that the mainline service was running late and I just had time to get on it (instead of waiting 10 minutes for the next one).

Seems unlikely, I would be moving to a School that she’s worked in before and they were glad to be rid of her. Plus the new role already has only one support minion who is unlikely to leave. The new minion is also someone I know and have worked with before so for me, it would be good all round!

{{{{{Wet One}}}}} That is a lot to deal with all at once, I am sorry for all the bad news.

Fingers and toes crossed for you!

Still looks beautiful! I wouldn’t be a fan of the colours either, my preference would be blues and purples.

I think that is a very reasonable precaution, given the mopping situation. I hope Baby Priest and the Wardens were suitably grateful that you and OYKW cleared up the mess.

There was a re-make in 2020, nowhere near as good as the original though.

Yesterday was uneventful all round, so that is a pretty good kind of day. We watched a film in the evening and I was in bed at a reasonable time. Hadn’t decided what to do first thing this morning so I didn’t set my alarm. I woke up around 7am and contemplated getting up to go to the gym, then didn’t. Woke up again just before 9am!

Cats are fed, tried Muffin on some different food since she turned her nose up at the usual stuff, and that seemed to go down well. I’ve had a bath, and I’m now ready to go out. I have the hairdresser this morning, then back home for a quick lunch, setting up the automated feeders for the cats, and then we’re off to Dementia Aware-Fest for the rest of the day. It’s a music festival for a dementia charity that a friend has been running for several years. It’s always good fun, and they raise a lot of money for a very good cause.

I usually drive there and back because it’s only half an hour away, but this time we’ve decided to stay at a local hotel just for a change. Should be fun, several of our friends will be there so I’m looking forward to seeing some folks as well as some very good bands.

(((Hugs and comfort))) to those who have lost friends.

So, I’m sitting here dozing in my chair just a little bit ago wondering why someone is running their lawnmower at 5:30 a.m. Um, yeah, that was a snow blower! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Annie has an appointment at the spa today and I have two IEPs to work on. Not sure what else is happening.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 64 and cloudy, but with possible apocalypse to start around six p.m. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for overnight. I am sure Precious will be overcome with the vapors durin’ his weather forecast. No big plans for the day here. We had quite enough excitatement yestiddy. I want to make a chawklit cake with chawklit/pee-kahn icin’ just cause. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

doggio it’s original All Creatures Great and Small. Don’t know how we got this far in life without seein’ it before now.

MetalMouse happy soccerin’.

Sticky_Buns hope Annie enjoys her spa day and the IEPs practically write themselves.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Similar but opposite issue with Roxy - she can do a lot in her head and Daughter is trying to drill into her that she’ll have to show her work, neatly and logically. Roxy doesn’t see the point in doing that when she knows the answer, but she needs to develop the habit early. The stubborn is strong in that one.

Our carpets are a pewter gray and Otis is black and gray, but a single black hair doesn’t jump out against pewter. In fact, many single hairs don’t jump out. But once suckage is done…

I don’t understand how our inside temp hovers around 70 Ferrets and I’m always cold!!! It’s got to be a geezer thing, because in the real world, 70s mean the start of shorts weather, or at least not wearing sweatshirts. FCD says the same, and he’s generally more tolerant of chill than I am. It’s crazy.

First plan of the day is getting a fire going downstairs so I can put a second coat of paint on the last two boat parts. The intermediate training class for Otis and Trevor starts at 1 today, shortly after the predicted snow/sleet/ick is forecast to start. Dammit. Beyond that, no plans so far.

I think Ziva is partially, if not completely, deaf. She doesn’t always react when I say something and a few times when I’ve touched her and she didn’t see me, she was decidedly startled. Plus it seems every time I give her skritches, she feels skinnier. Poor old girl.

Seems I should add All Creatures to my watchlist. I’ve only got 2 more ships left in that series.

And so the day begins. Happy Saturday!!

Your work is lovely!

It is a puzzlement too me, to; I have the theromostat set at 70F and the room thermometers all show between 68-70F but I wear sweatshirts/sweatpants around the house and use a space heater in the ‘office’ where I spend the most time. Agreed that it must be a geezer thing. Or maybe we both have lost enough weight that our ‘protective layer’ is thin…

boo fae, thanks for the note of confidence, I have looked at a floor map of the station and even a you tube video, should be easy. My other chance only has two platforms and I have an 1.5 hour break.

Obviously up and broken fast and will leave here in about 20 minutes or so, return is to be determined. Have a good Sattiday all.

That’s how I used to be up through engineering when it got complicated.

It’s much better to get into the habit now.

Here in Elkhart, it’s 20 degrees F, and getting colder. The predicted high is 22, and that happened before I got up. The snow-movers cleared the driveway and porch, but I don’t foresee going anywhere today.

We watched the last episode of Broadchurch, season 1 last night. Wow, that was intense.

No kidding. I went to Catholic elementary school and “Show your work” was absolute. So I was started early, and once I hit high school and my college engineering classes, it was a life-saver!

I’ve gotten the fire started and shortly I’ll do the painting. There are just 2 pieces so it’ll go quickly.

And I learned how to disable the gawd-awful Alexa+, tho I don’t know for how long. Once it becomes a full-fledged launch, I hope I can disable all the fancy-pants AI spyware they’ve included. I just want a device to turn lights on and off and remind me to check the laundry. The rest is spooky crap that I don’t use or want to use. Dammit.

Whew - OK, back to the basement.
