(Old) Highlight of the day - Dyeing in the MMP

As the dum-bass person who started out our MMP week with a rules-violating BANG! I’ll remind everyone that speaking much about one’s ignore list outside the Pit is a violation. Of course if I’m on Jane’s list she’ll miss out on the warning.

FCM: it’s always sad when an old favorite deteriorates to “not coming back”. Hooray for voyaging the boat at least a few boat lengths around the marina. And for kibitzing w boat friends.

Nettie I admire your tenacity w the critters; one imagines they won’t take kindly to your ministrations no matter how much you have their welfare at heart.

Taters: Thanks for the job updates. I’m sorry you’re dealing with wanting needing to change jobs.

But it’s also evident you’re by far the most professional worker up or down your chain of command. A pearl can only reside among swine so long before becoming covered in pig shit. Leave before the smell gets too hard to wash off. Please.

doggio - I have a brown question for you. Are the drivers not permitted to use handtrucks? We had 2 transformers delivered yesterday and the driver carried them up the driveway (our drive is not friendly to bigger trucks, but it’s about 100’ long). The two together came to at least 50#, and in the heat and humidity yesterday, the driver what obviously whipped when he set them down. Hence my question.

Wait, seriously??

I figured I wouldn’t be able to post today, what with being in the office and all, but here I am! Woot! The team that’s workshopping is in one of the conference rooms down the hall, and I stuck my head in during their lunch break just to say “hi” to everyone and try to put some faces to names. I’m our staffing manager so I’m pretty good at knowing all of the names and who’s on which team, but we only have in-person all-hands meetings once or twice a year and I tend to only see my employees and fellow program leads on-camera…so the faces, not so much. It was nice to see them. And I’m looking forward to seeing the team that will be workshopping tomorrow.

Last night’s volunteer committee meeting was super short: afterwards the incoming co-chairs stayed on the Zoom with me, and we finished all of the transition stuff then. So I was able to cancel tomorrow evening’s meeting! Yay! It’ll be really nice to have nothing to do after I get home from the office.

Bailey won’t be happy when I get home from the office today: after I let her outside and give her some dinner, I’ll have to change and head right back out to a personal training session. She’ll live, but I can already picture the sweet confused/sad doggy face I’ll see as I walk out the door for a second time today… *sigh*

I don’t know what it is about being in the office, but I feel like I could eat ALL of the food today: I’ve already had my morning protein shake (aka breakfast), two bananas, two small bags of chips (unplanned; they were here and free), and a Hormel beef pot roast tray, and I’m still feeling peckish! I’ll let myself eat one of the Nutri-Grain bars I packed, but then I’ll really need to stop for a while. Yeesh.

I’m so sorry about your friend! :people_hugging:

This is exactly why I got a Google Nest Mini a few years ago. Setting up the Google Meet calling (formerly Google Duo) was kind of a pain, but I can use the Nest to call my father and/or my best friend if I ever need help and can’t get to my phone. My house is small enough that I can keep the device out of the way in the living room and it will hear me from anywhere. It’s piece of mind for just $50.

Not exactly the same thing, but I’ve been buying chicken tikka masala Naanwiches for years; I have a box in my freezer right now. So yummy.

Thank you, both!

The extra space wasn’t actually extra: my laundry room had been a bit overcrowded since I started storing everything 1.5 years ago. Now I can open the dryer door all the way again! The room could use a vacuuming and possibly some rearranging…that might be something I tackle after the gym on Saturday, when I’ll already be sweaty and gross.

The extra time is earmarked mostly for music (practicing, creating/updating lead sheets, going to jam sessions, etc.), but also for seeing friends more often. And, possibly, for an exercise class here or there. It will be soooo nice to have my weekends all to myself again, and not need to spend hours “working” on volunteer administrivia!

Also, I’m expecting work to spin up in the next month or two: our contract is coming up for recompete, which means multiple companies will be submitting proposals to the government to try to take the work from us – while we submit a proposal to try to keep it. I’m going to be very involved with our proposal, due to being both a lead on the program and a former proposal manager/writer, so I expect that to take some of my music/friends time once we get a due date from the government.

OMG! :frowning:

I hate PNC Bank - have I mentioned that a dozen or so times before?? That’s where MIL had her account in FL after PNC absorbed Compass bank. And since there’s PNC here in Merrylande, she kept the account.

We had set up an automatic transfer last year, but now that she’s in the process of doing her banking at our credit unions, we cancelled that transfer. We thought we did. I got an email yesterday saying it would go thru as scheduled. So FCD and his mom went to a local branch to figure out WTF is going on. Whoever they talked to said they couldn’t see the account and FCD had to log on there… which means he had to call me for the login info, since I do all the banking stuff.

So they finally looked at the account and the employee said it looked like it had, in fact, been canceled. OK, fine. Well, I just now got an email saying the transfer had been canceled, which tells me that something happened after they left. No matter. Once we confirm that her Social Security is going to the credit union, the PNC account will be emptied and closed.

Oh, another thing - it says a payment is due on the VISA. Except the VISA balance is $0.00 and has been for months. I don’t know who built their web page, but I suspect it was some VP’s nephew or something. We hates that bank, we does!!!

I did some measuring for the weather cloths, but I need to go back to the boat and take a look - the old cloths that I’m using as a pattern are stretched out so I can’t figure what the flat pattern should be. Maybe this weekend I can get some good numbers.

Now, what to do for supper tonight? I’m inclined to tell everyone to graze. Or I can pick up pizza on the way home from Daughter’s. Or maybe Chinese food? We shall see…

Currently 69 ( snerk ) here in western Mitten State. Got a bit more sleep but still not feelin’ all that bright-eyed nor bushy tailed.

At least tonight is Short Shift.

Bright tailed and bushy eyed!

For that, ya gotta see a doctor.

I’m sitting here waiting for MusicMan to quit working so that we can go home.

I went to the local place that sells my spoon rings to see if I have any money. They had $21 for me which is better than that proverbial stick in the eye. Since our local movie theater is not a giant corporation, I might be able to treat us to a movie tonight for just a few dollars more. Rather, the snacks and such might put us at around $25 total or so. Which is why I love this little place so much.

JtC I surely hope you will stay.

Well, we’re barely out of Washington and already 25 minutes late, dinner in about an hour. Am aboard a: ‘Superliner’ double-decker but the menu remains the same so Chickens Parm it will be

Will try to send more if I can get my laptop to get on the AMTRAK wireless signal (can’t type a damn on a bouncing train on my phone).

Next challenge tomorrow is getting from the downtown Union Station out to the airport where my hotel and rental car are at. Several options exist, we’ll see which one is practical.

Take care all

Well, the hospital bills are starting. Apparently I was an outpatient and just in the hospital for observation and testing, so Medicare Part A didn’t come into play. Thank goodness for my BC/BS - first bill was $350. More to come, no doubt, for the various doctors.

I was on my way to get the kids when Daughter called - she was done early so she didn’t need me. So I did a detour and filled my car - didn’t want to waste the trip! Now I’m home thinking about supper.

On to the kitchen!!

Amazingly, FedYecchs got my delivery right on the first try today, so once I eat a somewhat late lunch, I’m going to have aggravated kitties. Allie’s due for a tub bath, Buddy for waterless flea shampoo (I am NOT feeling masochistic enough to try to give him a tub bath, but Allie puts up with it), then they’re both due for Advantage and flea collars, plus the house needs some flea treatments. How two cats with very little contact with other animals GET fleas is a mystery to me, and I’m really baffled as to why the fleas seem a lot more enthusiastic about Allie than about Buddy.

I’ve been keeping busy. Working on art and music.

Howdy Y’all! Been an innerstin ‘/frustratin’ day here at da cave. My ridin’ mower (actually called a lawn tractor, which amuses me) decided to quit, so the front yahd got only partially mowed as I did get the pushy parts done. It’s been picked up and taken to the horsepistol for lawn mowers. Guess we’ll find out what the deal is tomorrow. Oh joy. Also, accordin’ to the local newspaper we are hostin’ a public Fourth of July party! :astonished: The Albany Herald (motto: we just make stuff up as we go) published a list of holiday events. One of them says the Southwest Jawja Sportsman’s Club is hosting a public party, which is wrong cause it is a private club, but the paper posted our address. We found out about it because a member of the club came by da cave this mornin’ to tell us about it. The club is located down at the end of our road. The paper has taken the announcement down on their website and says a retraction will be in the Sattidy paper and next week’s Tuesday and Thursday papers. It publishes three days a week. Seems the writer of the article got if from some kind of events website where people can post events. I spoke with the editor of the paper and while nice, did strongly suggest they try verifyin’ stuff they publish off the internet before ya know, just goin’ ahead and publishin’ it. Maybe I should find out his address and direct anyone who shows up lookin’ for a party to his house. Thing is, there will be folk here on the Fourth for a soiree we are hostin’. Thus and innerestin’/frustratin’ day. I need Netflix, chill, and popcorn.

Do they have different fur?

They’re both shorthairs, but Allie’s is normally thicker and softer than Buddy’s (when she hasn’t been chewing bald spots going after fleas).

This seems like something the MMP might be interested in, so I thought I would share a gift link:

It’s obvious that many of the MMP felines are quite social, they are adored by their staff and the feelings are mutual.

Were I not already owned by a boisterous, all-consuming small dog, I’d love to take a new kitty to kitty training classes. Maybe when Ollie gets older, he’ll be ready for a new cat cohort.

KK for the donuts, DD for the coffee.

While I like to see the songbirds, Goo was doing what cats do. Had he killed a mouse, would your reaction have been the same?

We’re good. Hugs.

I hope that you decide that this is the place for you. You are a definite asset to the MMP.

She’s lighter colored and likely has pink skin underneath. I used to have a white cat that would attract any flea within 5 miles. I hope your fuzzballs are flea free soonest.

I has a sad. No one should have to risk death for something as easily fixed as air conditioning a package car. The folks in Brown tend to go out of their way to make sure my packages are under the soffit, but not blocking my door. Not so much with the other guys.

TGIT! I’m so ready for the weekend. SIL and I are supposed to get together Saturday to do something under the AC. I’m thinking lunch somewhere in the 'Boro and swinging through World Market for coffee beans, then somewhere for ice cream or a cocktail before she goes home.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Hhhm. There goes that idea.

The one time my cats had fleas, the thinner sleek haired cat had the tough time. The thicker plush cat hardly had any.

She. We can’t blame her for being what she is. It’s a shame the robin didn’t have the life experience to avoid predators. Mice are cute. It’s sad to see them dead. But mice are destructive, and robins are not. We definitely would have taken the mouse away. We believe Creamsicle died from eating a poisoned mouse… and there are poison traps outside the single-wide next door.
