Nice!
Those are amazing!
After some impressive winds, the sky has opened! It’s not a gentle shower, it’s a major downpour. Hope it doesn’t beat up my plants too badly.
Guess I’ll see in the morning.
Evening all. Spent most of the day at the Illinois Railway Museum, for a railroad geek (like me) it was a wonderful day, trains galore and got to ride a streetcar (not named Desire) and a steam train and just had a fun 4,5 hours.
Learned an important lesson; don’t leave your hotel for dinner when a large venue (Rosemont Horizon) is next door and there is a big performance scheduled…roads were packed, did manage to make it to Longhorn and after an hour there the streets were still packed.
Tomorrow my train back to New Orleans is at 8:05pm, so I am planning to take a Chicago subway train from O’Hare to downtown and do a “Architectural boat tour” in the morning, which should still leave me plenty of time to get back, turn in my car, catch another train to Union Station with a couple hours to spare. So if you don’t hear from me on Moanday, it’s because things got quite busy.
Now, let’s see how the day went…
FCM, happy anniversary to Daughter/SIL. IIRC she had a failed 1st marriage, glad this one looks to be pretty firm.
Taters, so did you get heavily into pot(ting) today? And I lost the bid, could have offered more but I got 2 nights sleep in a roomette so I’ll be fine.
Nettie, stay cool and hope the fires stayed away. It never saw 80F here so a very nice day to be out and about. Best wishes for Buddy.
Oopsie, that looks like quite a project; good luck!
VanGo, that doesn’t sound good…get thee to a Doctor soon and keep us updated.
rocky, take care, both you and the cats.
lucky, I haven’t had my windows cleaned in…let’s just say a long time. Probably need to get them done professionally.
Beautiful work, red.
Well, need to get the bags up and re-pack for the next 1-2 days. I get into New Orleans at 1:45pm on the 2nd, if we’re late I’ll find a place around there, if we’re on-time I’ll look to get a few hours driving in before stopping. Meridian, Mississippi looks doable, but won’t make a hotel reservation until I know approximately when the train will be there, which won’t be until Tuesday morning. Should be back home and in my comfy chair by Wednesday evening at the latest, so don’t worry if I haven’t checked in before then. Have a good night everyone and I’ll catch you (sometime) on the next MMP.
I cleaned. I napped. Spot begged me for salami he didn’t want. Laundry is done. Now I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, and listening to the thunderstorm coming.
“Say youths, that Swift dame is the bee’s knees, isn’t she?”
Because “online” is a Gateway 386 with a 14.4 modem, and the tech who knew the AOL password died of old age back in 1996.
The Lizard People at work wear sweatshirts with the hood up. Even when it’s 90+ degrees in the building.

I love those!
Am I a lizard?
See you all on the other side tomorrow.
Oh yeah, see you next month!
Happy Sunday!
We got thunderboomers last night.
I thought we were going to get some tonight, it’s very windy, but my phone says not.
Pilot, you say saint, I say sucker.
Probably doubly so since my dogs have trained me so well.
FCM, the problem with mental illness is not just the stigma, but it’s that you can’t force anybody to get treatment as long as they aren’t a danger to themselves or others. Even that doesn’t mean anything as one of my mother’s ex-bfs had a schizophrenic brother who went off his meds and pulled a gun on my mother. The police didn’t do anything. The doctors told him to start taking his meds.
This woman needs help, she is, as she puts it, suffering.
She does function though; she has a pretty good government job.
I feel for you having to deal with BIL.
Very cool cards, Red
I hope Buddy feels better
Ooopsie, that seems like so much work, that would make my head swim.
I never see deer around my yard. I’m just as glad, my dogs would go berserk. When we see one on the side of the road, Echo gets very excited.
I saw a baby fox running down the road ahead of me.
A lot down the road is being cleared. I hope houses aren’t going to be built there. It doesn’t seem like a good site as it is right next to the railroad tracks.
Past bedtime again.
I have prepared and eaten a whole box of Kraft mac and cheese. It’s probably been 30 years since I ate it last. It was delish.
I used to like to mix a can of Veg-All and a can of tuna into the cooked mac’n’cheese, with some extra American cheese mixed in, and then baked. Or: Add a cubed can of SPAM.
I’m down with Spam and extra cheese, don’t know Veg-All, and really, really can’t eat hot canned tuna, but admire you.
