(Old) How often do you change passwords - a secure MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 93 and mostly cloudy for the day. We shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up later this mornin’. Also, since we won’t be far from the church house, I shall go attend to candle and other duties. Need to do some stuff to ready the place for a memorial service tomorrow for the mother of a church member. Her mother lived in Nigeria and the funeral was there last week. The family that lives in the USA want a local memorial as well. So I get to serve at the service tomorrow and then get to reset stuff for Sunday. On the plus side, there will be a reception after with nummy Nigerian comestibles! Anywho, we shall deal with that this mornin’ and then be RDOS sloths until I go back to feed urchins on the last night of VBS. It’s pizza night so I am tasked with pickin’ up pizzas from Dominos around four-fifteen and gettin’ 'em to the church house. There will also be sallit, fruit, and ice cream sundaes, so the little ankle biters will be well sugared up.

MetalMouse there were indeed a lot of sliders made. Even after feedin’ all the little knee knibblers and adults present, there were over two dozen left. Needless to say they all found good homes.

JtC sorry about the sling and the havin’ to wait to schedule PT. Hope it all happens soonest.

red WOW! I guess DIY infusions are better than havin’ to go get it done elsewhere every day. Still, wonder if I could do so. Good on you for bein’ able to!

Nut part of the reason the MMP exists is to help us get out some frustrations. Do feel free!

BrightTree glad Ollie is back on his meds and feelin’ better already.

BooFae in reality neither of us could be bothered with an orgy. Firstly, neither of us likes that many people. Secondly, we both despise writin’ all those thank you notes.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy so’s I can take meds. Then I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Firday Y’all!

My orgy manners were apparently not up to snuff.

Heh. Getting flashbacks to overnight coffee shop shifts: “Remember, if anyone tries to rob the place, use the knife with the red handle, that’s for meat, not the green handle, that’s only for vegetables.”

The writing frustration should, in theory, last for about another 70 days. I’m not sure if it’ll actually get done by then or if I’ll be asking for an extension, as I’m actually still waiting on the final dataset, but that’s the theoretical end goal.

There are only 60 Ferrets this morning!! Is this really Merrylande in July???

Which suddenly reminds me - we are now 22 years in this house! Before this, the longest I ever lived at a single address was 17 years in my childhood home. FCD is in a similar situation, tho he never lived any place very long because his dad was often transferred with his job. I think his record was around 10 years in Birmingham, MI, but it may not have been that long. Anyway, it doesn’t seem like we’ve been here that long.

Yesterday when he dropped off his car, he was talking to Paul who has been our car guy for about 21 of those years. He started working there 24 years ago and for some weird reason, he remembers my Aerostar, the first vehicle we took there. I’m pretty sure he’s our longest business association.

Because of the cool, I’ll start my day with some more weeding. Just 3 loads of laundry, so it can wait till later. I may even stay in the basement while it’s all sloshing and tumbling. I started a new series on BritBox - Gone . It’s a murder mystery and, of course, they’re setting it up so we suspect the husband killed his wife. But did he?? I’m 2 episodes in so far.

In fact, while I was watching, I started crocheting again, so when it’s cooler, I’ll have a bag of lapghans (as the pattern sites call them) to give to Jessica. This first one is two shades of pink, plus ivory. I do like the new pattern - there are so many variations of shells, and this is a particularly nice one.

Otis is up and out. FCD just got up. And so our day begins.

Happy Firday!!

Mornin’, everyone.

It’s 59F and a little cloudy outside. The forecast calls for early-morning clouds and late-morning/afternoon sun, with a high of 85F. Better than mid-90s, but still a little warm. We did get a lot of dry thunder and lightning on Wednesday evening, while my son, down in Lacey, received a torrential downpour in the evening.

Bright Tree, good news on the Ollie front, and I’m glad the itchies are once again under control.

JtC, that well and truly sucks, and I’m sorry this has happened. I’d be pretty irritated and grumpy, too.

I just looked up my old password spreadsheet. I had 60 passwords for work. Yes, 60, which is absolutely insane. The PW spreadsheet had it’s own special PW. When I retired, I transferred it to a secure device because I still required access to certain sites, such as the site I used to access my pay information.

shoe, I’m waiting with both popcorn and bated breath on the Semi-Asshole manager-to-be saga.

Thank you all for the kind comments on my gardens. There are certainly more gardens, pots, and pics, but at least that was a start. Filbert, I tend to crowd my gardens, which cuts down on the weeding, especially as they fill in. The fact that I’m out there most every day also helps cut down on major weeding because I can quickly yank up the little weeds as I’m watering, pruning, or deadheading. I wouldn’t have had the luxury while working full time from the office.

Red, just wow! It’s good you were able to do that.

Filbert, vent away!

Boo Fae, maybe the administration changes will make TM see that it’s time to retire? One can hope, anyway.

So, the surgery went well, I guess. I didn’t mind the light show; I thought it was sort of cool, especially the pinprick, different-colored lights that almost reminded me of distant galaxies. I did not like the almost painful pressure of the cataract removal. However, I was a good girl, kept still, and kept my fist clenched as a way to deal with it.

I was the first one of the day, so we were on our way home by 8:30 a.m. It hurt too much to look out the window yesterday to see if there was any change in color perception. What I could see was that the colors looked pretty much the same. However, today, I am typing without glasses, and although it’s a bit of a struggle to see the computer screen, I couldn’t have done this a coupel of days ago. Ironic, considering that my new lenses are for distance correction.

I’ll be curious to see what doc says about my vision at the check-up later this morning.

FCM, we’ve been in this house just over 23 years, which also the longest I’ve ever lived anywhere. In my childhood, I lived in four different homes. I moved out when I was 19 or 20, and lived in two different apartments in the seven years before we bought our first house. We lived in the first house for 13 years, and now, finally, this home.

Well, I suppose I should get going. I need to shower and get ready to go because my appointment is at 0815.

Please take care of yourselves.

Good morning! It was 65ºF and partly cloudy this morning. I wore my leggings and a racer-back top while walking this morning. I thought I had a good sunrise shot, but I was wrong. It turns out ten minuets later, I had a better one.

Mrs Magill and Squeaky will come home tonight. I will be happy to see them. They’re currently touring Ohio State in Columbus, then they’re heading home, with a brief detour in Cincinnati for her to meet some work colleagues. She’s expecting to be home around eight tonight.

She’s taking her car into Toyota tomorrow for its maintenance appointment. The Lavender Closet’s clothing give-away is tomorrow, not last week - I swear I do know how to read a calendar.

Taters Did you get both eyes done at the same time?

The wife doesn’t play, and the cats lack opposable thumbs.

A cheerful good morning to all and sundry! “All and sundry” is an odd old phrase, and it always made me wonder where you draw the line.

Mollie, if Squeaky ends up at Penn State, maybe you’ll find out what a Nittany Lion is. By the way, I once read that ancient maps would put a notification at the edge, where no one had explored, saying, “Here be dragons.” It looks like you brought back a picture to prove it.

And a good morning all. Shopping has been accomplished, a couple of things were not on the shelves so I’ll try again later, but in general the larder has been well-stocked. Nothing much else planned, there are clouds and a 40% chance of rain so won’t have to worry about sunburn today.

And catching up on the conversation…

red, that’s a great card.

Oopsie, sounds like a busy time, hard to remember when going to the office daily was the expected order of things… And happy soon-to-be psuedo-grandma status.

Mollie, sounds like Mrs Magill and Squeaky are covering Big 10 territory pretty completely. And if/when you get a negative reaction, always remember all the positives.

Shoe, touching story and I hope Brittney knows better than to try and call an order into you folks again…

FCM, happy house anniversary. I bought mine in 1997 sometime around this part of the year (would have to do reseach I don’t wanna to get the actual date, so guess I’m closing in on 29 years now…longest I’ve ever been in one place in my life.

Taters, glad the cataract surgery went well, hope the checkup was encouraging

And guess I need to get about the rest of the day. Have a good Firday all.

Yes, I did, thank goodness.

I leave in about 40 minutes for my check-up. Brightness still bothers me a bit, but I have to say, that so far today, I haven’t endured any scratchiness, so that’s nice. The medical team recommended I put some drops in my eyes after I shower in case any water gets in there. I got a little water in there, so I used some drops a few minutes ago.

Once we return, I will have to give my husband some intensive watering training. His “watering” left a lot to be desired. I didn’t say much about it, but today I will be out there with him, because his idea of watering is spraying the plants overhead, while I water from the base to give a good soak. I give a light mist overspray after watering at the base to help knock off potential pests such as aphids, and to provide some water droplets for the bees to drink from.

He’ll learn today, too, how much I actually do around here, since he is insistent that I don’t do anything. I figure he’ll be annoyed quickly, and I’ll end up taking over, unless I have to lift anything more than 25 pounds or do lots of bending. I will be a good patient, I swear.

Happy Firday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, infused and fixing to do KP. Nelson has even had his delayed uppies. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not a whole lot on the agenda today except laundry and maybe the steam mopping. I’ll play in the studio most of the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I weeded for about an hour this morning - it included cutting back a bunch of wisteria that was creeping across the hill. And I discovered if I park my cart at the top of the hill and prop my phone on it, I get wifi from the house so I can listen to my classical music uninterrupted. The signal down by the road can be intermittent and iffy. So that was a bonus.

Next chore was helping FCD repair the fence section that the stoopit deer messed up. I worried that Otis would figure out how to escape there, but he didn’t and now it’s fixed, so yay. Then I had to take my sweetie to pick up his car (to the tune of $450 - ouch!!) then home to shower and start the laundry. And I finished the leftover sausage and sauerkraut for lunch.

The house is still open, but I don’t expect that to last - it’s supposed to climb into the 80s. Last I checked, there were 74 Ferrets in our yard - once it hits 76, alas, the house will be closed. At least I’ve gotten better than 24 hours with the a/c off.

And on the way back from the car shop, I stopped at the farm store and got a dozen sweet corns ($6), some 'maters, and a couple of peaches. Now I shall chill till the laundry is done. I think I’ve earned it.

Our last day of decent weather as we are back in a heat advisory starting tomorrow and continuing for at least another week.

Savory oatmeal this morning with a side of fresh nectarines, then exercise. Finished most of the puzzles except the NYT.

No other plans for the day, although the wife was making noises about doing a sheets/towels laundry load. We’ll see how that goes.

Second load in the washer, first in the dryer. I just finished building a chicken-grape-apple-pecan salad - so supper is made.

Chillage till the washer is done.

Hooray for Friday! It was nice and cool again this morning, so I when I drove to work I enjoyed having the windows down until I hit the interstate. And one benefit of coming to the office on a Friday – not to mention a Friday when most people are off, due to working the every-other-Friday-off schedule that’s common here – is that I got rock star parking out front. Usually I park in the garage, especially during the summer, but it’s overcast and not supposed to get too hot today (just 83°F) so I figured I’d go for the coveted nearby space since it was available. When I leave, the short walk to my car will be nice.

It’s currently 12:23pm: I just had a banana and an Uncrustable (with raspberry jelly), and am taking some time to digest lunch and post here before I head downstairs to do some classified stuff (the reason I’m in the office vs working from home). That shouldn’t take more than an hour, though, and might be the last work I do for the day. I have a bunch of resumes to review for an opening on my team, but I’m kind of not in the mood…I think I’d rather tackle them on Sunday, when I’ll log on for 1-2 hours to approve timesheets, draft Monday morning’s emails, etc.

Yesterday I forgot to mention that I lost a pearl from my favorite ring. :frowning: Mom had a ring with one small white pearl and one small black pearl that I always loved (some places call them day/night rings; she called it her snowball ring), and I’ve worn it nearly every day since she died in late 2015. I had to replace the black pearl shortly after I started wearing it, and when I got to work on Wednesday morning I noticed that I have to replace it again! I have no idea where/when it fell off its post; I checked home and work (and both garages). Luckily, the pearl isn’t expensive to either source or replace…at least, it wasn’t ~10 years ago. There are a couple of good jewelry repair places close to home, so I just have to call one and make an appointment. In the meantime, though, my hand feels weird without it!

(Most days I wear three rings: a simple band on my left middle finger, a Claddagh on my right middle finger, and the pearl ring on my right ring finger.)

I totally get the need for caution, but I’m so glad that worked out for everyone!

My record – childhood included – was 12 years, in the place I just moved out of. I can’t imagine ever matching that again, but you never know!

Yay!

Indeed.

I love your sunrise pictures. Mostly 'cause they’re pretty, but also because I don’t remember the last time I saw one in person…and, yeah, they’re different from sunsets (which I also love).

For me it was late March 2020.

OK, time to get back to work so I can get outta here. Hope everyone has a great – or, at least, good enough – day!

I got yesterday’s stuff done, and was bounced around. It rained, but not as hard so there was slightly less stuff to rewrap. Also, I was carrying around a couple of boxes and envelopes so i did some of the reboxes before the package cars left. I was out at 11:25. I stopped at the ABC store to grab Spot a couple of fifths of gin. Laundry is sloshing, and the good ice maker is running.

The the hard part:

The Ohio State.

Or the MMP Night Nurse will sit on you.

Anyone heading to their viva gets sent this:

In Finland, you get given a top hat and sword at the PhD graduation ceremony. There’s a reason they don’t give it you before that.

Skived off a bit early, because I was making silly mistakes and I wanted to do some sensible errands instead. Stuff like taking stuff to the recycling place (both as the queue will be big tomorrow and it’s a lot more unpleasant to move the stuff when it’s wet) and calling in at the doctor’s because their silly online prescription registration system isn’t working, and filling up the car, while trying not to cry at the price. As I was out anyway, I then went into town and bought an unnecessary number of vases, because a shop has a big selection of them ridiculously cheap and I’m cutting sweet peas for the house every two days and one of them is ideal for that.

As I’d parked outside, I did a bit of food shopping at the posh supermarket. I’m glad I did, yesterday I had filled pasta and had saved half the pack for today. I only opened it 24 hours ago and it’s been in the fridge but it had visible mould on it  which raises all kinds of questions. Luckily, I’d just bought a different pack from the posh shop.

In my mild flustering sorting this out, I managed to accidentally open the bottle of wine I bought as a gift for someone who’s been really helpful at irk, rather than the bottle I was planning on opening.

Oh well. I had pasta and wine, just not as planned… At least the side salad from the garden was as expected.

We have rain apparently due any minute. I’m all excited. I may go sit in the tunnel for a bit because rain is really loud in there so it sounds like there’s more than there really is.

The only time I had heard “skived” before now was when a friend was doing leather work. He was making a belt, and he gradually shaved down the leather where it would be folded to hold the buckle. He said that process of thinning the leather was called skiving.

The glorious 4 hour friday was here. I do 8-5 four days and 8-noon-ish on friday. I really like having the afternoon to do the shit that needs doing.

I got a new desk chair for the home office, and with the properly functioning wheels I can tell how not level my floor is. Not too surprising in a 1850s house. I just need to hang onto the desk so I don’t roll away. But it is comfy.

This afternoon I went down to check the mail, as always. In my locked mailbox is a “fail to deliver” notice (for a letter) from the postal carrier. They were unable to deliver it, despite a) there is an apartment number and b) there is a locked mailbox, and c) there is a contact phone number at reception. It says that I need to sign for the letter, which would mean that I would have to sit in the lobby for several hours waiting for delivery. How stupid is this?
