sheveled then completed the grocery list after ensuring that all the digital coupons were clipped. drove to daughter’s, gave Bella a few rubs then we were off to brunch. I had a breakfast quesadilla stuffed with canadian bacon, scrambled egg, avocado, tomato, onion, cheese; seasoned home fries on the side; daughter had cinnamon swirl pancakes with a side of bacon. I was annoyed that the cheque showed a total of $40.79 and an amount labelled Pay With Cash $39.22 which amounts to a 4% charge for credit card fees. I used cash yesterday to reimburse my friend for the albacore tuna that she had purchased for me from costco and also for the lunch cheque. I hadn’t replenished my wallet. All I had was $30 and daughter had no cash as she had spent it all on gas. So, I asked to pay $30 cash and the rest on the card, thinking that I would save about a dollar or so on credit card fees. Oh no, the credit card was rung through for the diff between the currency and the Pay with Cash amount. I protested to no avail, explaining how the fee is calculated to be 4%. so I requested that the charge be voided, my currency be given back to me then ring the total on the credit card (because if I’m going to be charged the credit card fee anyway, I might as well put the entire amount on the card so I can get the points toward my car insurance; card is through State Farm).

Then we went back to daughter’s and I took Bella for a walk. She was walking kind of lethargic at first then after a block, she had her constitutional. Then she started walking quite spritely for about another 3 blocks. Then she was lollygagging on the boulevard and started making a weird sound and ended up vomiting the undigested contents of her stomach. I didn’t have my phone so we had to walk back so I could let Bella rest while I got a big scooping spoon and walked back with a good size bag to clear the residue off the lawn that she had vomited on. After both of us resting for a bit, we went on another walk so I could return a book that I had borrowed from a Little Library in the neighborhood. No unpleasantness on this part of the walk. I was able to borrow a Grisham book, a book by Alexander Solzenitzen and Stacey Abrams book from the Little Library. I now have plenty of reading material for a potential vacation week after next .

snort laugh (yeah, we’re all juvenile in here)

Perhaps you should get a dog, like Zeke the WonderDog who chases, catches, brings back frisbees at Spartan football and sometimes basketball games. Labrador Retriever. If wife disagrees, she has a choice: she learns to play and likes it or you get a dog. :dog:

Mollie does Squeaky have an idea of what he’d like to major in? Is that part of how he’s picking a university? Or does he have other criteria?

A LOT of businesses have started doing this.

He wants to go into aerospace engineering. The schools they’ve been visiting have a strong aerospace department.

Mollie, that was a beautiful picture.

I’ve skimmed a bit, but I realize it’s been a long time since I was here. So long so that I don’t believe that I’ve mentioned that MusicMan fell at work. He’s mostly ok but they’ve got him on light duty until the middle of next week. My mom is about the same but, in fact, will not talk to me (or I gather anyone else) when I try to call her on the phone. It’s a long stupid ride as I mentioned, so I haven’t been able to go back up since last weekend.

Tomorrow we’re going to a wedding at 5p.m. I know I’m getting old and all, but that seems awfully late to me. If you’re so inclined to read my thread about my neighbor in Factual Questions, I’d be glad for any advice. Ok, back to work here. See you all later!

Good to see you. Best wishes for MM and mom.

Has he checked out MTSU? Or is that too local? :stuck_out_tongue:

He has, and I think it is.

Thanks for the update, I was just wondering how you were.

Embry Riddle is well spoken of, but is across the country. Spike could make the drive in two days, you old farts would take at least three.

So I’m still crabby and my new PT exercises hurt. Everyone I’ve talked to about my surgeon says the same thing: best shoulder surgeon in three states, we’ve seen many of his patients for PT or other things and he did a great job, he has the communication skills of a box turtle.

Hubs has noticed that it gets dusty here. Well…he asked me if I thought that the dust was because of the fires, it wasn’t nearly this bad before. Well, that’s because I was dusting at least weekly, just like I’ve always done, housekeeper or not.

The deer went after Harry’s apple trees last night and he’s busy putting cages around the survivors. I suspect gun towers are next.

He has plenty of fencing material because his GIL rescued six egg farm chickens that were being sent to be turned into pet food. They are pretty humble looking, debeaked and broken feathers but they seem pretty happy scratching at the bottom of their pen. They are a year old so maybe might recover, or maybe will die happier than planned.

Out ridiculously early for a Friday night.

Narrator: “She was not sad about it.”

Part of it was Sprinkles came in very late (with management knowledge & approval) due to a family health thing, so once she arrived and was ensconced, us Early Outs started being kicked out like bachelor lions gently encouraged to leave.

So she got to avoid Semi Asshole, at least for several hours, and I mostly avoided him due to … finding something else to do/somewhere else to be, for the most part.

Thus, no drama for tonight.

I need to head back out to run a few minor shopping errands, in a bit, but for now I just wanted to let Monkey bop around outside while I got out of my sweaty work clothes.

My poor Meyer lemon got kinda crispy again, but since I was already running late when I went out the door, the only time I could spare after seeing it was just putting the poor thing inside, out of the sun.

Burned my lunch break coming back home, moving it to the bathtub, and giving it a good long soak with the handheld shower.

Just gave it another one - it’s pulled through worse, but the poor lemon looks quite unhappy right now.

Howdy Y’all! Been home for a bit from feedin’ the ankle biters. It was pizza, movie and ice cream sundae night. There was sallit and fruit as well. A six year old girl decided I was her bestie tonight. She sat down next to me and told me just everything about herself. She was wearin’ a pair of cool light up sneakers and said I should get a pair. Heck, if I could find 'em in my size I might just do that.

shoe the problem with thank you notes after an orgy is that since they must be personalized, it gets hard to remember who did what to me, as well as what I did and to whom. Also, makin’ sure everyone leaves with their own underwear can be a major PITA!

Taters glad the surgery went well. We look forward to reports of improved vision. Hope the checkup goes well.

Mollie I know you will be glad to see **Mrs. Magill and Squeaky. I bet they will be glad to be home!

Up from naptime. First load of laundry dehydrated and put away. Dinner tonight is a martini, salmon, and wild rice blend with peas and Morels. I comforted Spot during his twice daily Horror Of Waking Up, and now he’s napping again.

That’s what she said!

Just pretend you’re in the US Navy.

Soundsl like good vacation plans(I also am on vacation the week after next).

{{{{sticky, MusicMan, and Mom}}}}

or Ukrainian explosive drones.

Now wait a minute! I was always told to wear my best underware with good elastic so it could be slingshotted onto the ceiling fan. Is this another difference between east and west coast folks? Or was I just being lied to again? That happens a lot to me.

I just checked my email. The second lesson dropped two days ago and people are already posting finished pics. FML. I was never one to be first finished but at least I was finished with the first lesson before the second on dropped.

Hubs ordered a large shipment of cleaning supplies that got delivered here instead of where they were needed. Grumbles. We will be delivering them tomorrow morning. Our cat sitter has found boys and football and boys who play football so we haven’t asked her to feed the fuzzbutts if we are late, not enough notice. Cat sitter mom has said she would come over in an emergency, and that’s really all we ever needed/wanted. Someone to check on the fuzzbutts if we were stuck overnight somewhere.

Well, I’m home. Took some gym time and then went to a soccer meeting (just as thrilling as any of boo fae’s). Picked up a protein bar at the gym and just had my usual Firday big bowl O’Sallit and am munching on some baby carrots, so some calories have been added back. Agreed to referee some soccer tomorrow for coaching training, but with a 70% chance of afternoon rain, that may get cancelled.

And into the Scroll Zone…

Taters, I’m sure I will read in a bit what the Doc says, and also discover how long husband lasted on the ‘I’ll do everything’ pledge…

FCM, you’ve earned your rest indeed. That corn sounds good, I haven’t had fresh corn on the cob in a long time, might be time to break that streak…

Oopsie, hope the ring repair doesn’t require a trip to Mordor…

doggio, are you the JOAT (Jack Of All Trades) there or do they shuffle mobs of people around willy-nilly?

Nut, have a happy rain-day (I hope).

VanGo, you mentioning the comfy new desk chair reminds me that mine is rather old and tattered and maybe there is something better out there to park my butt on for 4-5 hours a day…may have to do some looking around.

Cookie, to answer your question, pretty stupid, but might be the only options they had on the notice. Hope you get the post tomorrow.

CatGlove, Glad you were well-fed at breakfast but I rather lean towards daughter’s choices, don’t think I’ve ever had cinnamon swirl pancakes but now I will be looking for them. Sorry that the meal ended up contentious.

Sticky Buns, hope Music Man heals up nicely, as does Mom-unit. And maybe the late-afternoon wedding is so that they can party all night…

JtC, thanks for the ‘West Va. life’ update, it never fails to interest me. Good luck to Harry vs the Deer and best wishes for the hen party… Safe travels tomorrow.

Shoe, hope the lemon tree makes it thought.

And just looked at the clock and it’s 9:15pm, so this will count for my late-night final. Catch up with y’all sometime tormorrow.
swampy, ain’t kids grand? Coaching 6-10 year olds can be a pain at times, but the good moments are always special.

Thank you!

Just sent an email about my other issue. I hope it goes smoothly.

It’s currently about 70Ferrets with a nice cool-down overnight forecast of 55F. Aaaahhh.

It is. Hang in there best you can, and complain here all you like, if it helps! (It does!) I’m sorry about Harry’s apple trees, and boy, do I relate. I had to fence off two that are down the pasture because the deer were destroying them in their efforts to get at the fruit higher up.

swampy, you sure do know how to throw a party. Whether for the ankle biters, the orgy attendees or just your good friends, I admire your ease with entertaining.

More adventurous than I like, that’s sure, and today was just as hectic. No, Ollie hasn’t encountered much thunder and lightning. It’s rare weather here. And remember, this is a dog that forgets how to go down stairs whenever we visit friends who have 4 little steps up to their door. He can get up the steps, but always forgets how to get down. Every. Single. Time. Good thing he’s cute… And I hope you get the chance to referee tomorrow!

red, I keep meaning to say, your cards are just gorgeous! I did like the most recent one, too. Enjoy your time in the studio today.

Mollie, I long ago learned that the secret to happiness is to live life as your truest self, and anyone who has a problem with that can just suck it. Don’t worry about the negative reactions. They will happen, but the problem is theirs, not yours. Stay safe and real with the people who love you, and all will be well. And as ever, thank you for the sunrise photo!

fly boy, I hope you find someone to play with!

Lily, I’m glad your air quality is so much better! And is there a better way to rest than with a fuzzbutt on your leg? I don’t think so.

Thanks, BooFae. The difference is miraculous. My dog is back! Enjoy your relaxing evening! (I’m sure you already have!)

Ollie farts so much, I think he’s startled when it doesn’t happen. I have made some recent adjustments to his diet and that’s helping us both. Me more than him, if I’m honest. Those farts are eye-watering. Loved the story about Brittney and her lost pizza going to the homeless guy.

Mine, either. I always just passed out mints.

Good luck with the continuing thesis saga, Nut! You’ll get there! And thanks for reminding me I have an open bottle of wine in the fridge that’s going beggin’. I’d best go tend to it.

taters, congrats on the successful surgery! Hope the little bit of discomfort eases soon and you’re left with only improvements.

FCM, glad you Otis-proofed the fence. One less thing to worry about, eh?

Oopsie, hope the ring fix is quick and smooth. I hate having to look after stuff like that. I always wonder where the lost one ends up.

Didn’t the “fail to deliver” notice have a space on it where you can sign and leave it for the postie? Here, they’ll accept that as the necessary signature and then leave the package when they find the signed slip in your mailbox. If no slip to sign, then yes – stupid!

cat glove, you’re a good person, cleaning up Bella’s vomit. I can pick up dog poop all day long, but vomit… I fear there would be two piles left for the unfortunate homeowner. :grimacing: And good reading material indeed!

Sticky, I second the advice you got from Bbbboooo in your thread: Call Adult Protective Services. They will have some good advice for you on what to do about your neighbor. I’m so sorry to hear what your mom is going through, and Music Man, too. I really hope you all catch a break soon – a good one!

Do you forage morels, or are they available to buy in your markets? I’ve never seen them for sale here, and we, uhhh, have more than a few available mushroom varieties here.

Today was bizzy again. I didn’t sleep well because my ISP had a scheduled maintenance outage for overnight, and I don’t like not having phones. But all was well. Up early at 5:30 a.m., got straight to work on paying stuff and then ran into town to hit the bank, fuel station ($4.29/gallon), the Dari Mart for milk and the post office. Got home and tended to Ollie with a walk and then me with breakfast (fresh made bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon and a dish of berries with vanilla yogurt).

Pond Guy and I had a nice chat and will shoot for pond remediation on Tuesday. He and his family are eager to hunt Chanterelle mushrooms here, so that’s fine. I look forward to meeting his wife and kids – but look forward to a repaired pond even more! I’ll make cinnamon rolls for everyone.

Time for some wine and relaxation. Hope everyone enjoys a delightful evening, or as delightful as possible, at least.

I dunno. I’m having trouble with the actual official DSM-5 diagnosis. I never wanted to be like this. Logically, I know I feel better when I present authenticly, but I still don’t want to feel better.

I don’t know.

I do know that others like me enjoy what I would consider costumes or dressing up in Lolita or cat girl outfits. I just want to have gender appropriate clothes.

This is too many G&Ts and loose thumbs, but I’m not erasing anything. These are important thoughts (for me, at least) and should be recorded.

I am … omg I’m losing it laughing over here … oh, my word …

I ordered extra-loooooong tongs to feed rodents to my big ol’ python. They’re fancy rainbow finish, because WHY NOT, but here’s why I’m dying laughing.

It was two pair. Dunno why I’d need a 2nd one, but luck favors the prepared, or whatever, and it was cheaper to get two, than one. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

They arrived … y’all, I am wheezing laughing … with a faux-velvet drawstring GIFT BAG.

In what universe does Amazon think imma be like, "Hey, here’s a fancy rainbow rodent tongs .. "

… you know what. Never mind.

I was able to leave work shortly after 3pm (yay!), and despite knowing full well that I have spent QUITE enough money on Lego over the past month thankyouverymuch I decided to go to the Bricks & Minifigs closest to my house. Because I might have three (!) sets on the way between now and September 1 (and plans to order two more when they become available on August 1) but I had nothing to build this weekend, and I definitely wasn’t up for dealing with the Lego store in the mall. Assembling these sets has become amazingly theraputic: when I’m facing a quiet weekend that will be spent mostly (or entirely) at home, it’s one of the main things I find myself wanting to do.

I often tell myself that at least it’s cheaper than actual therapy, but then I go to a Bricks & Minifigs and find a $$$ retired set that I’ve had in mind for a while…like The Big Bang Theory (released in 2015). It’s a favorite show that I rewatch from time to time, and I just started watching it again two days ago; coming across the set felt like fate. It’s only 484 pieces, and I built it in a couple of hours between getting home and dinnertime.

I also picked up a cheap/small holiday set while I was there, because the metric ton of Christmas Lego I already have in my storage room just wasn’t enough. :joy:

Time for sleep. I love Friday nights: I can stay up until I’m tired (vs when I “should” go to bed), and I don’t have to set an alarm!

The Ohio State University. Ahem.

Maybe you could break a wheel…?

Yay for you, but boo for us (entertainment-wise :joy:).

QFT.

Nothing about what you’re going through is easy – getting that diagnosis, coming out in bits and pieces, managing your relationships, learning how to be yourself (and figuring out what that even means), etc. I would imagine there are plenty of moments when you desperately wish that you could just Not Think About Everything for a while, but all of your thoughts are part of this ridiculously challenging process…and, therefore, not just important but critical.

(I wish I could snap my fingers and take away the pain, confusion, and fear and let you fast-forward to Mollie in all of her glory!)

I weighed my two ‘110 g’ Frisbees. The vintage 1973 Moonlighter weighs in at 106 g. The new US Guts Players one weighs 117 g. The new ‘180 g’ Star Runner glow-in-the-dark one weighs 183 g. The vintage ‘150 g’ black, Master Tournament one is due on Monday.

As do I. As do I. But this pain has been with me my entire life, and I only realized it once I presented myself in such a way that had always been an object of ridicule, and it it was lifted.

Anyway, Mrs Magill just got home. Chloé is over the moon.
