Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 24c/75f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “You might be fucking chilly today. There’s still time to crochet yourself some fucking leg warmers.” Err…no, just no.
Bit of a drive-by this morning as I’m going out in a minute. I got my nice relaxing evening on the sofa last night which was very pleasant. I was in bed before 11pm which was a bonus! Up reasonably early this morning, and the needs of cats have been tended to. I’ve put some fresh colour on my hair, washed that out and dried it, had two cups of tea and some breakfast, now I need to get properly dressed and head out to the pet store to do some fundraising for Little Paws.
I will be there until midday, then home (via the car wash, I think) for a quick lunch. Errands in town and we also need to pick up the new microwave that 'im indoors ordered yesterday. After that, we plan to drop the car back at home, Uber ourselves back into town and sit in a pub beer garden for a while.
Dinner may be pizza, or it may be yummy curry if we are heading towards the right pub at the right time. That kind of depends on us not getting sidetracked into the Giffard instead because that’s just dangerous!

The big item on today’s agenda is the memorial service for a church member’s mom at one p.m. There will be a reception with nummy Nigerian food afterward and I get to do candle and other duties to set up for tomorrow’s services as well. Once back to da cave I will indulge in high RDOS sloth.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, at some point, I shall purtify and don appropriate attire for the day.

Not that my feelings are hurt or anything. 
If we finally do go visit FCD’s Aunt B, I’ve thought about taking a day and driving up I-65 to walk the grounds of my alma mater just to see if I can find my way around or if I recognize anything. But my poor sweetie can’t handle much walking and it has been 50 years since I started there, so undoubtedly it’s not the same campus I knew. Still thinking about it.
When my stoopidly impatient bladder roused me around 4 this morning, it was raining, and after I finally got up around 7, there were 60 Ferrets in the still-soggy yard. Low 80s ahead and sunny, so a pleasant day in store. Daughter is coming over this afternoon - her sorta-boss lives in the house behind us and he’s volunteered to do something to fix her car. I’ll have her spawn and her dog while he does whatever he intends to do.
But this morning, I plan to run to Teeter - they’ve got Diet Coke at buy 2 get 3. Plus FCD is out of 'nanners and we can’t have that. And I should run the rollsuck - I picked up a clump of Otis in the living room. That dog marks his territory by shedding!
I just about finished the lapghan last night - I want to do a border, but the main body is done. It’s a really fast pattern - it only took 2 days! So it’s a keeper. And I finished watching the murder-mystery last night - interesting how they threw the deciding clue in halfway thru the last episode and the murderer wasn’t either of the characters we were led to suspect… Still, it was a pretty good series. Now I need to find another.

We were scheduled for a go-out-to-dinner with Nephew and his wife last night, but I was depressed and had to stay home. Mrs. Nott brought back half a French Dip sandwich and fries for me afterward.

Bright Tree, I would be excited to forage chanterelles, too! Lucky family! I haven’t had as much success as I usually have when I’ve gone out recently. It doesn’t help that the person I went with was not good at it and impatient because she couldn’t see them. Ah well. I would have better luck going alone, but as we all know, that’s a serious no-no.

So, the follow-up wasn’t great, but wasn’t awful. My left eye appears to not have improved much at all. But it’s still early days, and hopefully it’ll get better. Additionally, the pressure on the eye was a little high, so I have to go back next week for another follow-up. When I was asked to do the vision test where you cover one eye, the left eye was blurry as hell and I could barely make out the top line. The right, however, was awesome, and I could see the bottom line quite clearly.
As for my husband’s pledges to do things with my guidance. That fell apart fast. He was getting frustrated with me, and I was frustrated with him. When I asked him to move stuff from one location to another, he did well and did it without grumbling. And, to be fair to him, he was on it and ready to get started as soon as we got home.
He had no idea how long it would take to actually water the plants. He thinks a light spray over the top of a plant is the way to water, and no matter how many times I told him to water at the base, he’d go back to lightly spraying from over the top of the plants. 
In really excellent news, the kids and grandkids will be here today, and I’m very happy and excited about that. It’ll probably be quite noisy, which is something I’m not really used to anymore, but it’ll be good, especially once Buster and Maisie calm down and realize these new people (new to them) are alright. Plus, my son and Zeus will be here, and Maisie luuuuuuurrrrrrrrvvves Zeus.
Well, I suppose I should get going. I want to give the powder room a final scrub and polish the dining table, but that’s all I have to do and won’t take much time at all.

Morning all. Obeyed the bladder and up about 6:30am, have broken fast and have soccer coming up (referee some pre-season training at 11am). That is, if weather cooperates and right now the odds are it’s going to start raining in the next hour and stick around awhile. If so and soccer is cancelled, guess I’ll find some house-irk to do and make my daily gym pilgrimage. 76F now going to 84F, so the 90F+ days are taking a break but they’ll be back early next week.

FCM, I visited my College alma mater (Kent State) on my trip up to Cedar Point, many of the dorms are still there, but a couple buildings have been torn down and several new ones are in place, so did have to take my time. But do it if it’s possible, seeing the old places (and how they’ve changed) can be memorable.

Daughter’s bestie since Kindergarten is doing her PhD at Kent State. As for me, the trip to Indy is still up in the air, so Purdue is up there with it.
Back from my Teeter/Aldi run. The cokes were a good deal at Teeter, but they want 85¢/lb for 'nanners, while Aldi has Chiquita for 49¢/lb. Other things I looked at in passing were equally $$$. So I only shop there when they have this super-good coke deal, which doesn’t happen all that often.
I got an email from my one-year-younger sister. Her husband has a malignant tumor on his larynx and will be starting 2 months of daily radiation therapy. If that doesn’t work, he’ll lose his voice. I’d be a whole lot more sympathetic towards him if he’d quit smoking eons ago when his doc told him to. Instead I’m wondering how my sister will cope with widowhood, because, frankly, I don’t think BIL will live much longer. He’s only 115# and he’s needed a cane to get around for several years. He looks much older than his 71 years. Anyway, good thoughts their way…
In happier news, the house is still open on the 3rd day of coolness. We’ll see if I need to turn the a/c on later today or not. For now, tho, I think I’ll finish the lapghan and maybe start another.
Good morning! We are up, fed, but still not yet kempt. Mrs Magill is doing much needed Chloé maintenance. I didn’t do her required combing, brushing, and facial hair cutting. She looks like a little fluff-ball. She’ll look like a puppy-dog in a bit, after someone who knows what she’s doing trims her face.
I am glad to have Mrs Magill home. Chloé, on the other hand is having second thoughts. “No, Mommy, I don’t want a haircut.”
Squeaky has expressed no desire to study overseas, however he was impressed with Toronto. Spike, OTOH, has been trying to qualify for a semester abroad.
They couldn’t get my left eye to 20/20, either. On the bright side, that means I can wear a multi-focal contact in that eye and avoid reading glasses.
Embry-Riddle has been putting the hard sell on him, but he hasn’t shown any interest for some reason.
I think it was a combination of tuition and his fear of not getting enough scholarships that turned him off.

Onion soup mix, pork gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, low-sodium chicken broth, and four bone-in pork chops are in the slow cooker. SWMBO is making me cook them outside, because she says it will heat up the house. (I disagree, but… SWMBO.) They will cook on Low for about six hours.
We’ll be heading out in about an hour, to attend the local anti-ICE vigil. (One of hundreds across the country.)

Weird thing at work today was that a customer presented 2 gift cards in payment. First one worked fine. Software said the second one was not recognized. Clerk brought it to me asking for help. I consulted the Detailed Gift Card Report and card was valid and had a balance of $50. So we tried inputting manually; still not recognized. So then we put the Gift Card # in as a check #. I emailed the manager to let him know to manually reduce the balance on the Gift Card in the software.
Did a load of hot water wash laundry. Have had lunch. Am thinking about trimming the bushes in front of house. Also thinking about going to the outdoor pool and getting in some laps or alternatively working out on the NuStep.
I hope we get a detailed description of said Nigerian food…so I can enjoy vicariously.
Mollie I know the aerospace program at Purdue is very highly rated. Next door neighbor boy went there about 25 yrs ago. And Purdue isn’t that far away from where you live; although it’s not real close either.
Edited to add: now I see that Squeaky has already visited Purdue and what his concerns are.
