(Old) I think I MAY start the MMP

Mornin’ all.

It’s 49F, damp, and cloudy outside. Today’s weather will be cloudy with periods of rain, and the daytime high will be 51F. Pretty blah weather, if you ask me.

Nellie, I’m sorry you’re in so much pain. A grabber thing would not be remiss. No bending! I mean it!

I like both iced sweet tea and unsweetened iced tea. I’ve had bad versions of both, although I don’t know how you can mess up tea.

Nice rides, FCM! I hope both you and FCD enjoy your trikes as much as we enjoy our bikes!

I was busy most of the day yesterday. I was out of the house by 9:00 a.m. and drove to Wally World to pick up some items for my mother. Selected a light jacket, grippy booties, sweatshirt, and a couple other items, and then drove to her house. I checked her mailbox (empty), the removed a package from her doorstep and went inside to check the house, and pick up a soft fuzzy fleece jacket for her. Checked the house and the plants, locked up, drove to the SNF, and found my mother performing a swallow-test. It was determined she does not (nor did she ever) have problems swallowing. I didn’t get to talk to her long, because it was time for group physical therapy. However, I told the therapist there that I was pretty annoyed to discover that she was still in the same clothes she was wearing Tuesday and that I had brought her a week’s worth of clean clothes. I made it clear I wanted this addressed. I took the new clothing items to the nursing station for labeling, and then went up front to set up a trust account so she could use the vending machines. (Not a good idea to leave valuables or money in the room. Unfortunately, it seems only ONE person can do this :face_with_raised_eyebrow: and he wasn’t available, even though I waited for 15 or 20 minutes. They asked if I’d be willing to drive back when he was available, and I said no. I pay nearly six bucks a gallon, and some stations are charging more. It’ll have to wait until my next visit.

After all that, I drove home, had some lunch, then went to my hair appointment and to Costco to pick up a couple of items.

The eye was slightly less goopy upon awakening, though the inside corner tear duct still looks puffy and swollen.

I was awake at 3:45, but went back to bed at 5:00 and stayed there until 7:30. Not sure of today’s plans, maybe the nursery, maybe not.

Alright, on with the day. You all take care.

And a good late morning from N. Ali-bama. And I do mean late morning, I was up for the morning micturation at 6am, decided that was too early to start the day and went back to bed for an hour…which turned into a 9am awakening, guess I was more tired than I thought. Got my Firday shopping done and mailed a letter (how quaint!) and then came home and had an early lunch, so feeling much more awake now. 70F outside and heading to 82F later, so didn’t wear a jacket this morning and may be able to hang it up until September. With shopping done not much more on the schedule except maybe a little gym time and some house-irk.

Lotta catching up to do, so best be about it…

Herald, you young’uns, always bragging… Thanks for the movie review, last one I saw in a theater was Thunderbolts, which I was unimpressed by, but would go see a re-release of The Martian as it is my favorite film all-time (I need to go see Hail Mary).

Flyboy, you may never know what happened. I remember when I was working in the UAE and had to go to weekly meetings in the Embassy (I was working at a UAE facility). We had a Air Force Colonel in charge of the military part of the mission and he was a pretty laid-back guy. One day I came in and he was looking real upset, and two days later he was gone…I mean, from the country and permanently. Still have no idea what happened, but someone in power there got ticked off at him and…

Enjoyed the restaurant tale.

Nuts, so a reasonably close brush with royalty. And geez, I learned about the bees (the birds came later) in grade school, so don’t know what the fuss was.

boo fae, yay! on Murphy deciding to torment some other poor commuters, and good luck with TM.

We usually have no problems with them, but strangely last night we had a parent get upset because we wouldn’t let him stand behind the goal and yell at his (and other) kids and claimed it’s a public park and he can stand where he wants to. Got the coach involved at half-time and he grumpily settled down on the sideline, but we three refs made it a point to walk off the field together to our cars.

NELLIE! So sorry you are miserable, I hope things get better in the next few days and keep improving. Like others, please do not try and bend, you’ve invested so much effort and pain into this that taking a chance in messing it up just ain’t worth it. Take care.

FCM, happy (and quick) painting.

PILOT! Seems to be a day for prodigals to return (see Nellie). Been following you on the Aviation threads, good stuff there. and glad to hear you and GF are still the happy couple. Stop by anytime.

Cookie, hope it doesn’t get too warm there. My internal house temperature is about 73F now with nothing running so that’s good for me.

Mollie, glad you got into Discord and found some more people to relate too. Glad the tooth and crown (sounds like an old English pub name) are still good.

rocky, sounds like the WB Mason event was right up your alley; and some lager time afterwards made it a perfect day.

Up North where I lived, unsweetened iced tea was all you ever got, and you added sugar to your taste. I much prefer sweet tea, no guessing or stirring by me needed. And places down here used to ask ‘sweet or unsweet’ but now it is pretty much assumed your getting sweet tea unless you ask for the unsweet type.

red, hope the inspection is as quick as promised.

Taters, sounds like the SNF could use a little better management, but seems to be taking care of the medical needs. Hope the eye keeps getting better.

And look, I am at the bottom of the MMP (for a few moments). Take care all.

You and I would get along. I like my Southern swee’tea done half-and-half. Yes, that’s how it’s pronounced.

Making my own fried okra is one of the only things I miss about working at the hellhole across the street, now-defunct Dickey BBQ.

Way to crack a stereotype.

Some jokes/references just never go out of style.

{ burn the patriarchy … erm, matriarchy? }

Last cuppa I had was microwaved in a cardboard deli cup.

(I was at work, those were the recourses available.)

@JaneDoe42 needs to stitch this wisdom onto a pillow.

If there was ever a time for disposable paper plates …

“Has anyone ever told you, that you look JUST like { name } ?!”

Awww… that’s not nothing. I haz a happy for you.

“Four tequila shots for the lovely lady at the other end of the bar, please.”

And this used to be such a nice place.

That’ll do it.

While we’re all discussing knickers on the floor and tequila shots at the same time, I’ll just drop this classic here for your entertainment:

Almost safe for work, but definitely light-hearted.

We’re on the eastern side of the building, so we get direct sunlight in the morning. The fans are keeping up with it for the time being. I’ve switched from sweat pants to lightweight shorts and a very light tee. Also moved my ghee to the refrigerator, as the kitchen gets really hot.

Less hectic sliding today. I thought I might get out early, but I got rushed. Which is fine, because I get paid by the hour. I stopped and got some catfish for dinner tonight, and a squash for Sunday’s dinner. Laundry is the dryer, so naptime.

{{{{nellie}}} That’s a rough patch you’re going through.

Thanks for stopping in. and glad things are going good.

Indeed!

I always use Luzianne.

I love a good pen!

I had my semi annual visit with my oncologist this morning. We discussed my case. My prostate cancer was diagnosed 02.20.2024. I had 44 radiation treatments and started on a hormone treatment protocol. I have been faithfully following all instructions. I have a visit coming with my urologist on 06.22.2026. This visit will be the last of the hormone meds and the beginning of just monitoring.

Today, my oncologist said the I am in REMISSION!!!

It is hard to describe how I felt with that word.

The others best me to it but your cranky nurse will just repeat it: do not, not, not bend over to pick something up! Get a reacher thingy as posted and use that. At least two, so there can be one in the places you spend the most time without you having to carry one around. Walmart carries them in the pharmacy. Don’t get the cheapest one, they are half-assed and don’t grip well and will stop working when needed most. Get the next step up.

While you’re at Walmart get a big pack of paper plates and a box of plastic silverware. Save your standing up for more soul-satisfying stuff than washing dishes. Hopefully your daughter can get the reachers and paper plates for you before she has to leave.

My surgery experience has been like yours. The impeding pain and length of recovery time was soft-soaped thoroughly, knocking my pins out from under me and that was just an arm, not a back.

Glad you can sleep ok in your own bed and have puppy time.

Now go get those reachers and paper plates!

It’s hard to describe how happy it makes me too!!

WOOT !! WOOT!!!

 :tada: :fireworks:

That’s WONDERFUL news!

W00t!!!

:fireworks: :sparkler: :tada:

hippie WOOHOO!!!

Still at the boat because of an accident or something on the bridge. I was caught in it but was able to turn around after the 4th emergency vehicle drove by. So I’m scrolling and occasionally helping FCD. Further tales of my day must wait till I have a proper keyboard.

Need to check the traffic cam again…

huzzah!!!

Hip hip Hooray!! That is one of the happier words in English. Wish we didn’t need it so often though.

Yoga was yoga’d. I saw my friend whom I’d spoken with last Friday. I’m glad I confided in her. Lunch was a Margarita pizza from the family owned joint up the road.

Dinner will be a beef and cheesy pasta.

Hippy did you get to ring the bell?

That is wonderful news, Hippy!

Right after I posted, I checked the traffic cam and all was moving, so I left. Quick stop at Aldi for milk and 'nanners, but they had no 'nanners, so I got salads and yogurt instead, because why not?

I picked up laundry where I left off - folded the first load, put second load in the dryer, third in the washer, and there’s one more to go.

As for my painting adventure, after we had lunch, FCD had to come home to modify a part in his shop and I went back to put a second coat of paint on the supports. Partway thru, I noticed that the bottom of the cup that I’d put paint in had split and paint was dripping everywhere. Stoopit solo cup! Luckily, we had more, so I stuck it in a double cup, cleaned up what I could (thank goodness for mineral spirits) then finished painting. Cleaning up included a small spill on the new nonskid and the hand rails. And apparently I stepped in a drop because there was paint on the fuel fill deck fitting and the mat leading into the cabin as well as all over the cabin floor. So more mineral spirits. Luckily, we had lots of rags on hand, and I got it all (I think.)

Not to mention the spill on my pants - white on black pants - nice touch! And apparently I touched my face - there was a big blot over my lip on the left side and a smaller bit on my chin. I’m just glad FCD wasn’t there when it happened - he’d have lost his little mind. As it was, he just checked what I did and was OK. And now that I’m home, the pants are in the washer and the shirt will go in the last load.

Ice maker is making ice and it’s time to feed Otis. It’s been a day.

Yay, hippie!!!

Mowage achieved, after a long discussion with the carburetor that the gas is supposed to go into the engine and not drip onto the mower deck. It did involve colorful language.

Now Ms peach needs dinner. She’s been claiming it was dinner time since 2pm. I’m getting to like working 4 long days and a short Firday.
