(Old) I’ve Never Done This Before in the MMP

Oh, yeah. That’s how I knew it was time to take a smoke break, LOL!!!

There is a waist tall kittah tree in my room and they are playing King of the Hill over it. Currently Bella has control of the tree despite GG being tall enough to just stand on his back feet and push her off. The only time she loses her position is when she slaps at GG and he “falls” off the tower and runs off. She chases and he just jumps over her to the top of the tree from the doorway. She’s fallen for it four times so far, LOL

And the dishwasher wasn’t installed wright. It isn’t draining and it is a Saturday so we can’t get the plumbers back out until next week. Bad words have been said.

My desktop comp is still boxed up because the monitor mount was misplaced during the move. Hubs ordered another one which arrived yesterday. It apparently was a return…and it had parts missing so that has to be returned and another mount from a different company will be ordered.

We don’t mind if we get something that has been previously opened, we do mind if the return wasn’t inspected before being resold as complete.

Enjoy your celebration!

If you’re a Prime member, the audio is often just pennies, if not free.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The big outing today is to the UPS store, CVS and the grocery outlet. Just another exciting Saturday at CasaRoja.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We were in Amsterdam this week, where we’ve been before. For the first time we went out of Amsterdam see a train museum in Utrecht.

If I had worn socks with my sandals, maybe I would have avoided getting blisters on the bottoms of my feet. :frowning:

We also took the metro for the first time. Seems strange to think that Amsterdam, with all their dams and dikes, managed to build an undertround metro. Very convenient and faster than the trams, but not as scenic.

Yesterday we returned home, so today has been laundry and watering the yard. Unfortunately, the package that was supposedly delivered is not actually here, and none of my neighbors have seen it. So I have to make a claim to the post office.

And worse, I have to tell my mom that her package is lost. :frowning:

I recommend always taking advantage of a hand rail, whether getting on a boat, going up or down stairs, etc.

Our flight got delayed 2 hours because a woman tripped going up the stairs to the plane and injured her wrist. The crew completed the boarding and then called for assistance. So we had to wait for the airport police to take pictures of the stairs, for the ambulance to arrive, and for the crew to pack away the new medical supplies.

She and her partner missed the flight. I hope they managed to make a later flight and catch up with her cruise. We finally took off about 20 minutes after we should have landed in Amsterdam.

Saw this (Milky Way Galaxy in Lego) at a science museum this week and thought of you. Not very musical, but pretty.

Congrats on the promotion!

Sounds like my grandmother.

She liked Nevada Barr, Joanne Fluke, JoAnna Carl, Sarah Graves and Carolyn Hart. She might have liked Richard Osman, if she had lived long enough to read any of his books.

Somehow I thought GG was a bit more brown. Such a lovely pair - thanks for sharing.

We had a deer collision years ago in NJ. The insurance adjuster was super happy to see deer fur caught in various nooks and crannies - made the claim straightforward as there was no doubt what happened.

Hubby had a deer do a number on the passenger door of his first car. Just the door. His dad pulled out the dent.

Metalmouse, congrats on the award. The kids and parents are lucky to have such a dedicated coach/referee.

I have ~20 minutes before I need to change and head to my personal training session…should be just long enough to chat with y’all.

Last night I watched a 2022 documentary (newly available on Amazon) about how Cirque du Soleil’s big Las Vegas show (“O”) reopened after the pandemic. I’ve been to a few Cirque shows – but not O, though I’ve seen one in Vegas – and I found it very interesting to learn more about the performers and the behind-the-scenes stuff.

I like “how it works” documentaries, so when it ended I decided to browse for any new-to-me Amazon docuseries offerings: I found one from 2011 called Nerve Center. Each episode presents the logistics of the massive/complex systems that support operations like the port of Los Angeles, the Atlanta airport, the Panama Canal, D.C.'s fire and emergency response, a giant Amsterdam flower market, a huge annual car show in Arizona, etc. And one of the 2013 episodes was about O! It was cool to watch that right after the other documentary; it went a little more into the automated systems and what the riggers do, etc.

Nerve Center also has a 2012 episode about UPS, which I plan to watch later today (while toasting doggio). :beers:

I’m actually looking forward to going to the gym, and to making my usual stop at the grocery store afterwards, but I’m also looking forward to being back home with nothing to do for the rest of the day/evening.

I ate my last banana last night. :frowning: Hence the planned grocery store stop after the gym.

I had mine open until it hit ~81°…so nice this morning! And Bailey is always happy when I open the front door and give her access to the screened storm door.

Was it the same dude who screwed up the sink (and then getting the parts to fix the sink)?

How awesome that you thought of me! My nephew wants that set. It’s very cool-looking, but it doesn’t do enough for me to want it myself.

GRRRRRR!!!

Mowage has been completed, it is not as hot as earlier days have been but the humidity has increased sweatage considerably. Will head over to the soccer fields in a few minutes to work with the 12U boys for awhile and then maybe stop at the gym to burn some more calories–we’ll see how much the pre-teens take out of me.

Taters, happy yard work day. I probably should do more with mine but mowing is about all that I have the will to do.

JtC, is the dishwasher ‘built-in’ the kitchen or is it a ‘stand-alone’ (not integrated into the kitchen? Either way, they shouldn’t have screwed it up.

Dicey, been through Amsterdam Central station before but never on the subway. Sorry the package disappeared. And can’t blame the airline for a inadvertent accident, but I imagine the delay was a pain.

Oopsie, never been to one of the Cirque shows; but it is on my list.

OK, into gym shorts and off to chase 11 year olds. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Sorry about the rather salty post earlier; I was pretty cranky by the time I got outta there last night.

Weird dreams, but that indicates deep R.E.M. sleep, and I don’t remember 'em anyway beyond waking with a vaguely unsettled feeling, so good enough, I guess.

I gotta go back early to open, but I get a 30 min break today instead of 15 and I’m scheduled to be early out tonight, and God help anyone who tries to swap shifts or otherwise get in my way!

Happy Sattiday, all!

A pretty easy - if long - travel day yesterday. There’s a shuttle bus from Grand Central to Newark Airport. Turns out it’s cheap, reliable, clean, and comfortable.
I was up, breakfasted, and packed sooner than I expected, so I went ahead and caught an earlier bus to the airport, arriving a full three hours before my flight.
Bag check and TSA went smoothly, lunch got et, and I planted my butt in a comfy-ish chair and played games on my phone until boarding time.
I had an exit row all to myself, which was quite a luxury. Did a crossword, napped a bit, read for a while, and eventually touched ground at LAS.
Today will feature unpacking, laundry, and Sloth.

I’ll catch up with y’all later today or tomorrow.

It seems every time I look in my veggie patch, I find a huge cucumber that I’d never seen before. How can they suddenly appear fully grown when I saw no earlier evidence of their existence?? Anyway, the latest one is in the fridge and I used 3 from earlier harvests to make a big cuke salad. Not sure what supper will be but I need to decide on something as it’s nearly 3.

FCD got some good and bad news at the boat yard - we’re working thru what we need to do and what we need to buy. I’ve been reading my trashy novel - Julia just gave birth to a daughter so Edward, who’s pretending to be Albert, is now the earl for certain. He hasn’t 'fessed up to Julia yet. It’s a soap opera in 19th century England.

So, anyway, time to make a supper decision. Dunno, dunno…

The Fed-Ex guy just brought our Chewy order and told me that Chewy and some air freshener company had gotten together and were rolling out their new “spring fresh” boxes.

Turns out a case of Downy had gotten damaged and had leaked all over rest of the boxes in the back of his truck.

I’ve noticed that people in WV lie to me a whole lot more than folks did in AZ. I think its because they know I’m not from here and they might get away with convincing me that their tall tales are true, LOL!!!

Long day again, dealing with belt eaten packages, scanning closed stuff, and then moving all the stuff from one company to a package car and scanning it under a different code.
Me: “Reminder, I’m on vacation the week after next.”
Screaming O: :open_mouth:
But I grabbed some veggies and a frozen pizza on the way home. Now laundry is a spinnin’ in the dryer, I’ve had my gin&tonic to quell this attack of scurvy, and now it’s naptime!
Annnndddddd…Spot just hornked at my feet.

Bachelor Food
1 teaspoon black bean garlic sauce, 2 shakes fish sauce, 3 shakes soy sauce, 1 glug mirin(or any white wine will do), garlic, ginger, five spice powder, and red pepper flakes. Plus onion, 'shroom, and frozen chopped broccoli. Plus frozen whiting and some pre cooked shrimp(from Aldi)

“Cannot run out of time. There is infinite time. You are finite. Zathras is finite. [picking up tool] THIS is wrong tool.” - Zathras

Probably filmed at the ultraclean, only used for Corporate and Teamsters photo ops building.

Ouch!( I sunburned my feet once. Painful feet suck)

I guess the bad news is that it wasn’t torpedoed and sunk by a U-Boat?

I believe the term is “Alternate Facts”.

Got up in time for the shopping trip. Our usual driver wasn’t on this morning.

It is a private shuttle bus. It has a route, but only 2 specified stops. Our building and city hall. You can get on and off anywhere on the route.

The driver refused to pull over and let a family out when they realized she was doing the short sat. route.

When you do the shopping trip, you let the driver know where you will be for pick up. When I got off, I told the driver I would be at target, 3 times.

I didn’t have a lot of confidence in her response.

I saw her turn into the Walmart area, and moved into position for pick up. Saw her make the turn to go to the target pick up, and she turned onto a parallel street, not the street for target. I called the building, but the shopping area is out of range of the radios. The building was able to see that she was at the ikea area which is about 3-4 blocks away. Then she went on to the ShopRite area 7 blocks away.

Totally bypassing the target pick up and me.

Ended up calling a taxi to get home as the closest public bus went by as I was on the phone with the building. It would be another 20 plus minutes for the next bus, so taxi it was.

The taxi driver was very nice and interesting.

After unloading everything I’m done for the day. Perhaps I will get a second wind later…

In other news, wow that was a wild and unexpected opening ceremony. That was some very serious rain.

Howdy Y’all! Much merriment and silliness ensued today. It turned out to be mostly N.O.S. whilst we were at the cee-mint pond, which was nice. We munched on boiled peanuts (Oh hush! We love ‘em!) and quaffed beerverages. Then when we’d had enough quality cee-mint pond time, we came in, got showered, and I lolled about whilst burgers ‘n fixin’s and fries got made for me. Then we had nummy cheesecake homemade by OYKW. Don’t think I mentioned it, but he made it yestiddy. JDD and Partner have gone back to their place, so now we chillax. Looks like a tstorm may be brewin’, so I am hopin’ for cocktail time on the back porch whilst watchin’ a storm. Of course, Netflix, chill, and popcorn time are still to come.

MOOOOOOM that trashy novel sounds like a real pearl clutcher!

Taters I like the idea of the mini torch. The idea of almost, but not quite, torchin’ the neighbor’s yahd amuses me.

JtC love it that Bella and GG have invented themselves a game! Sorry about the dishwasher. Bad words needed to be said. That sucks about the monitor mount.

Dicey sorry about the blisters. Hope they heal soonest. Hope the package is found.

MetalMouse I have the high and lofty goal of not havin’ the worst yahd in the 'hood. I’m good with second worst, however. I think we both have the same level of concern when it comes to our lawns.

shoe go for the early out. You’ve done your share of other stuff the past couple of days.

Wheelie yay for an easy travel day. Ain’t it great to get a row of seats all to yourself!

rocker sounds like that bus driver needs some PSWSLNS to teach her a lesson.

Or passengers need to start bringing Emotional Support Honey Badgers to make sure the driver is paying attention.

I’ll take that as a yes…

(And I second your “grrrrr”!!)

That’s what we’re here for!

Hopefully no one tries to disrupt the plan for today…hopefully for them, that is.

Turns out it was all about the Worldport facility in Louisville, KY. Mostly about how the planes are managed, but they did talk a little about sorting and how some smart label issues are handled.

Right now I’m watching the episode about Cedar Point. It’s just about to end; next I think I’ll watch the one about the annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, AZ.

Ugh…I hope you get reimbursed for that trip!

Indeed!!

Good pick. If she decides that she likes an Alaska setting, Dana Stabenow’s Kate Shugak series or Sue Henry’s Maxie and Stretch (a retired RVer and her dachshund).

The defective die cutter has been dropped at the UPS store, car gassed up, prescriptions picked up and the grocery outlet shopped at. Now it’s time to play around in the studio.

Not much today. Went to the grocery store ( tapioca!) Got coffee.
No job in sight and thats not going to change.
At least church tomorrow is something to look forward to.
Dorito salad for supper.

In his defense, the way he did it was how under-counter dishwasher require. I wasn’t willing to give up any cabinet space so we bought a stand alone (portable) and had that plumbed in yesterday. Most people don’t buy portable dish-washers and have them plumbed in, so it is an understandable mistake.

Hubs figured out what he had done by reading the installation instructions.

He also over pressurized the R/O system but happily hubs knew how that was supposed to be done. Neither of the plumbers seemed to know about under the sink R/O systems either, but again, I get the impression that they are not something most folks have back here. I had to explain what it was to our housekeeper because she hadn’t ever seen a sink with two water taps, just the ones with one tap and one soap dispenser.

We are both so happy having Good water to drink and make ice with. I know I’m spoiled, but I hadn’t realized just how spoiled I really was.

Hubs did the return process for the monitor stand and ordered another from a different company. I decided I didn’t want a monitor monitor arm and made him return it because I wanted a free stand one that I could take off my desk when I wanted to use my sewing machine.

He ordered one that I could adjust up and down as the mood hit.

Next I watched Bella chase GG around the house and realized that a free standing monitor stand was a really stoopid idea (my desk doesn’t face the wall, it faces the french doors so I can lose count while staring at the forest).

Hubs cancelled that order and found a different mount that would allow me to move it mostly off the desk while I’m binding canvas edges.

Another vote for those, I like that voice actor as well. I actually look at who is reading the book because I am such a fangirl of some of them. I listened to the Koontz Frankenstein series because Jonathan Adams is so good with the heroic pathos. Not recommending that series, btw.

Up from naptime, having a Vieux Carré and Asian BBQ Chicken for dinner.

Especially since the Air Force occasionally borrows our planes.

I have not repackaged burst packages, made 2000 pizzas for drunk people, climbed around on a boat, walked a dog, applied for a job, hade a Vieux Carré, flown to Panama, disputed with a supervisor, bought or returned a monitor, acquired a cat (sob!), made greeting cards, assembled Legos, spent quality time at a cee-mint pond, toured New York, been abandoned by a bus, visited children or grandchildren, mowed the lawn, watched documentaries, or NOTHIN’.

Yet I have carried a bit over a ton of 3"-5" river stones from my driveway to my backyard by hand. We also finished staining the fence to continued neighborhood acclaim. Now we can draw the backyard on graph paper and figure out how much rock-surfaced easement we’re putting in at the fences and foundations. I will then claw back grass/weeds, add topsoil where needed, put down landscape fabric, and pile up said rocks. They will not only contribute to easier mowing/whacking, but create habitat for the garter snakes (at least 4) and Pacific chorus frogs that populate our little yard. Then the lilacs &c. go in, then we consider whether we want to build raised vegetable beds or make a graveled area on which containers sit. I will dig a hole for a hydrangea and determine what shade-loving groundcover to plant around its base. Then I return to the front yard and trim out the rest of the viburnum and rhodies, and cut down the boxwood so we can put roses on that side.

Hey, it beats working.
