(Old) I’ve Never Done This Before in the MMP

Since you see a doctor quite often, have you … discussed this, or are you deciding on your own RX?

You’ve seen a doctor more times in two weeks than I’ve seen in a decade. Must be nice.

My bad.

I wish I could tell you how awesome that is.

And a good evening to you all. Got to referee some 8 year old soccer and get a little more sweating done, then tried Arby’s Cheeseburger (not bad, but the crinkle fries were really good). Will be drinking a lot of milk this week, bought a half-gallon today after forgetting I had bought one last Firday, so both Cereal and Instant Breakfast will be used a lot this week. Other than that, it’s a quite night with an 80% chance of tunder-boomers tomorrow, so good I got out tonight, tomorrow doesn’t look so good.

red, we call it Moanday here in the MMP for a reason. Tuesday will be better (I hope).

Cookie, your meeting timing is music to my bureaucratic heart; I especially hated the briefers who would put up detailed charts and then read every single word on them, chart after chart.

Sari, glad you are a law-abiding citizen once again…

Hippie, you are a fortunate man.

And it’s 9:30 in the evening so some reading and then to bed. Have a ear appointment (for them to try to sell me hearing aids for $$$$$) and then my dental cleaning/exam so that will fill up a fair amount of the day. All y’all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Having once been subjected to an hour long conference call to discuss having fewer confrence calls, I agree.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/64f with a predicted high of 23c/64f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Psst! Hey, fucker! Wanna buy some fucking sunshine?” Err…nope, there’s already some out there.

Probably! I don’t use the Dartford Crossing regularly so I go online and pay when I need to, although you can set up an account with them and pay for multiple crossings. I know they don’t charge for debit card payments but they add a small fee for credit cards because those have processing charges. No doubt they’ll sneak in a charge for sending you a bill instead, especially if it’s the paper kind!

Also, hope Bailey is feeling better soon.

Welcome to the MMP, and congrats on getting house stuff done!

Fingers crossed for good test results, I am sure it must be a massive worry for both of you.

flyboy I’m with you on that one, I hate things like that. We have a College away-day tomorrow and I am dreading that bit.

Awww…that is so good to hear! I had a proper nose boop from Blossom yesterday, she was next to me on the sofa and demanding fuss. For the first time, she actually put a paw on me, and came up for a boop.

That sounds positive, and chillage is always a good idea when one has a devastating injury like that!

After we got home yesterday, I didn’t do too much apart from unpacking, sorting out cats, paying the road charge and paying the catsitter, and making dinner. I also had to empty the recycling box into the biiiiiig recycling bin as that’s getting picked up today. So last night I hauled the biiiiiig bin out to the pavement. After I went to bed, 'im indoors added a load of cardboard to it, and this morning I put the two empty pop bottles in there (he left them by the door so I knew to put them out). That should be collected today, and I have no meetings so I’ll be able to see if they reject the neighbour’s bin again.

I’ve had a cup of tea, now I need another one and I am contemplating some breakfast. Maybe just toast today, I’m not feeling very inspired.

Annie and I have switched sides of the couch and she’s still between me and the iPad. So, more later after I convince her to move.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 91 with light rain showers predicted later in the afternoon. We shall see. It happened yestiddy, so who knows. Today is laundry day. I am all a twitter. There will also be the usual RDOS inactivity. Both of us brought home about half of our steaks last night, so we shall have sliced steak over a big sallit along with cheesey garlic bread for sup. Steaks didn’t get et up cause we pigged a bit too much on snausage appetizers. Thus shall things be in swampland this fine Tuesday.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

When FIL lost his hearing aids, these were recommended to us by someone here on the dope. The day after I ordered them, we found the lost ones and I canceled the order and they were most helpful with that. So at least in my limited experience, a trustworthy company. FWIW.

Tho I’m from the pre-conference call days, I must say my last boss was aces about meetings. He was well-prepared and they were to the point, and he always ended with some weird slide - once about emu-farming. Plus they were maybe held monthly if he thought we needed them.

I think I discovered the secret to not waking up at stoopit-o’clock - don’t look at the clock. Just fall back to sleep - who cares what time it is when it’s dark out?? Yes, I had a good night last night. My boo-boo is hurting this morning, but I think it’s more the bruise than the stitched up gash. Altho as the gash is healing, it kinda feels like the skin is pulling a bit. Part of the dressing on it is a strip with petroleum jelly. This evening, I’m going to take the dressing off for a while and I’ll re-jelly it. FCD says it’s looking good - he’s a better judge than I am since he watched it get sewn up. I chose to stare at the wall. Because ick.

My sweetie is off to the marina and around noon, I’ll be taking MIL and BIL to WalMart. I only need a few things, so I’ll get my stuff then sit in the Subway to wait for them. I know from experience that it’ll take a while…

Before then, I’ll try to get the blood stains out of the shoe I was wearing when I fell. I have some generic oxy-clean - we’ll see how that does. The nurse at the ER recommended peroxide - that’s my second choice because I don’t really want bleached-out spots if I can help it. Not that the shoes are that big a deal - I can wear them around the house if they’re too ugly.

I should probably roll-suck the living room. And Higgs peed on the carpet in front of the pellet stove the other day. I sopped up what I could and sprayed it with pet urine cleaner. Next step is using the carpet cleaner. And I should take the trash - maybe we can do that on the way to picking up BIL. Or not. Who knows.

Happy Tuesday!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 57F and cloudy at the moment, but the clouds will give way by late morning, so we’ll have a sunny afternoon and a high temperature of around 78F.

It was cloudy all day yesterday, and I even became chilled enough to put on long pants. Other than going to work, that’s the first time I’ve worn long pants in weeks. I enjoyed every minute of the cooler weather.

After signing off work, I went to Mud Bay and got some kibble for the dogs. I gave them a break from their usual chicken puppy chow and got them some pork and applesauce kibble instead. It’s the same brand, but the bag is slightly smaller, so it won’t last as long. I also bought them two new stuffies, and they were thrilled when I took them out of the sack. Maisie pranced around with her stuffy four hours. The one she loves is a coho salmon, but this one is a rainbow trout.

shoe, I’m sorry I missed the news about G.C. in last week’s MMP. What a jerk! He can go screw himself.

Well, the TVCTPMO descended yesterday. I had firmly convinced myself that I would take this coming Thursday off. Once again, my inbox produced yet another MUST DO training for that day. It’s at 11:00 in the morning, so it’s not like I can knock it out first thing and then take off. No, it’s in the middle of the damn day, so that just means the day is pretty much wasted, and there is just no point because I’d have to rush back from whatever I was doing to log in to training. Ugh. Yes, I could take the afternoon off, but I wanted a day where I didn’t have to delve into work at all. That sounds a bit whiney, but I’m just burned out from constantly covering for everyone else and getting my work done, too. Meh, on to other things, bitching and moaning over.

I did take care of some personal HR stuff yesterday, though. I May I entered another age bracket for life insurance, and my bi-weekly cost more than doubled. And, even though I had received a step increase, which normally results in a little pay bump, I was taking home less than I had at the previous step. So, I discussed things with my husband, waived Option C, and reduced the multiples on Option B while retaining the standard. My husband will still receive a pretty decent sum if something happens to me, plus my retirement. If he isn’t around, the kids will split everything. Life insurance is a good deal until you reach a certain age or are retired. I was shocked at how much the premium went up, but at the same time, I should have paid more attention to it.

FCM, I’m sorry the boo-boo is still throbby, and hope that stops soon.

JtC, I loved reading about how the kitties are getting along. That is such great news!

Boofae, yay for pleasant trips, boo for road suckage. I hate traffic.

Johnny, that icebreaker sounds annoying AF. Frankly, I’m not a fan of those types of exercises either. I don’t mind introductions; those are important, but the stupid games or exercises get on my nerves.

I’m not a fan of meetings in general and would undoubtedly appreciate fewer meetings. For instance, I must participate in a weekly meeting with the rest as part of the ELT. None of us, but the SD, want this weekly. Bi-weekly or even monthly would be more than sufficient, but the SD wants them, so we continue to do it. I then have weekly meetings with my boss (who cancels quite often lately), weekly, sometimes daily meetings with the MPA, bi-weekly HR office hours, monthly GPC, Do Not Pay, BC, SOO meetings, along with a multitude of others that I can’t think of at the moment. It’s pretty crazy. Fortunately, most are on Teams, so I can just turn my camera off and multi-task through some of them.

I have an in-person meeting next week for a cooperative agreement that we’re starting, and I foresee that project taking up much of my precious time, too.

I got my first “real” watch in second grade. It was a Timex, with a silver face and a black leather band. I wore that thing for years because it wasn’t a kiddy watch, it looked like a grown-up watch. It was analog, of course.

Okay, it’s time to move on with the day.

Good morning all. As usual when I have a morning appointment I set the alarm clock and as usual when I set the alarm clock I was awake well before it went off. So when I finish this message I’ll be getting dressed and head over to the ENT place to hear (heh) their pitch about hearing aids. Dental appointment is at 1:00pm so probably will have time to get home for some face-feeding. A little rainy outside and more is expected during the day and into the evening. Outside of that nothing much to report.

boo fae, just had a bowl of cereal (Rice Krispies) for breakfast, so guess I wasn’t inspired either.

FCM, don’t plan to put any hard cash down today on hearing aids, I do pretty well most of the time so can do without, but they could help, especially in crowded situations or where sound tends to reverberate. We’ll see how it goes. And glad to hear things are healing up nicely. Enjoy Subway.

Taters, sounds like Maisie is a fish-loving dog; don’t take here to one of those Japanese gardens with all the big fish in the pond (koi pond?), you’ll never get her home… And dammit, get your leave!!! Half-killing yourself doesn’t do anyone any good.

OK, I’m ranting early, so need to finish up here and get ready for the Medicos today. Take care all.

Oh man, and those awful PowerPoint meetings/presentations. In the Navy, we had one Ops guy, an LCDR, who had weekly progress meetings for the sole purpose of embarrassing everyone at the table.

THE BOAT HAS POWER!!! My ever-so-clever spousal unit found the circuit that was tripping the power. So the batteries are charging. Huzzah!

Hurray for power!

Our new dishwasher will be here tomorrow. It won’t be installed until next week, but at least we can admire the box until then. We will have the R/O system put in and plumbed to the ice maker at the same time.

This whole remodel thing probably wouldn’t have gone any faster in AZ, it was just over 6 weeks to have my last dishwasher replaced and that didn’t require a plumber.

Hubs was worried about leaving Bella out last night, so he locked her in my room again. This morning, he gave GG his breakfast in the kitchen and brought Bella’s to her place mat in my room. She ignored the bowl of food and ran past Hubs to GG. She gave him a head bump, rubbed her body against his face and then started eating his breakfast.

We won’t lock her up tonight. She is choosing to use the litter robot instead of the box in my room, so Hubs took her box away. If she isn’t using it and GG can’t use it (too small), there isn’t any reason to have it.

JtC, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

FCM, You have the power!! Guess that FCD won’t be on your murder list…at least until the afternoon…

Cookie, as one who has done more than his share of Power Points in my life, I can sympathize. And if that LCDR’s nickname wasn’t Lt. Fuzz (from Beetle Bailey), you missed a golden opportunity.

Back from the ENT folks, got a good briefing of the options and they let me wear a pair of aids for testing purposes, which I admit were a relevation. They answered my questions, no high-pressure techniques, and the prices were alleviated by them telling me I had a $2500 credit from my insurance on any devices. So brought all the information home and will consider it and do some research myself before making a decision, but leaning towards doing it.

Had Second Breakfast and I’m about 2 hours from leaving for the dentist. Rain is still falling and based on the weather map, will continue to do so for the balance of the day. At least I remembered my umbrella…

The main thing I recall about that ass clown was that, while someone was speaking, he would roll his eyes upward and rapidly blink his lids to show how annoyed he was.

Smalls sort: < goes well >
dogbutler’s brain: “I WILL NOT GIVE INTO HOPE!!”
But the day went well. I guess it was the Screwup Fairy’s RDO. I did my Aldi run, and avoided The Aisle of Shame this week(I really kinda want the sloth pool float, though). Naptime!

and all it took was a blood sacrifice.

LOL

Minion.

Hooray for power, cat harmony, unexpected smalls sort, &c.

Off to the library, then getting my bp checked again.

Slept in until after 0800 this morning! Not my usual routine, for sure. Quickly worked up some cheesy scrambled eggs and bacon, with two leftover biscuits on the side. Well, quickly and awkwardly, as I wasn’t fully awake. A lot of standing in the kitchen, blinking stupidly, looking around and wondering what the hell I was just looking for.

Today is our weekly farm produce pick-up, then eldest son visits in late afternoon. He’s about to be temporarily widowed again as his wife flies back to Old Blighty to care for her mother. This is on the heels of her father dying a few months ago. This leaves eldest to deal with his kids’ schedules and his job for an unspecified length of time. Luckily, he’s a high-energy guy.

Another one of those torrential Midwest deluges last night that make you worried you don’t own an ark. I’m used to living near mountains that can break the force of storms like this. Out here in the flatlands, it’s just yeee-hawww and giddy-up!

Coffee crash coming on.

this is fantastic! i’m so happy for both of them.

Tiny little shower right now.
I went to Urgent Care.
Bp was 132/82. I had taken my bp med at 4 a.m.
Not ever going to miss it again.
Walked in Petsmart.
A bunch of kittens available.
Saw a beautiful, sleeping, black female cat named Eclipse.
Of course I wanted her.
Someday I will be able to afford a cat.
