(Old) It’s Moanday Again In The MMP

Up from naptime, watching hockey. Dinner was Smoked Paprika Chicken, green beans, cheesy potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and jellied cranberry sauce. Thanksgiving 2.0. And a Mai Tai, because it’s Tiki time somewhere.

It was 51 this afternoon, but it dropped 20 degrees since the sun set.

Glad you didn’t explode, oopsie.

Nutrition is important!

Speaking of bog rolls, I tried the Amazon Basics that The Missus bought, in the morning when I wanted to blow my nose. The sheets are dimensionally smaller, and the rolls are about half the size of the Costco ones. SWMBO (and who buys the stuff) says that Costco is more expensive, but it’s a better deal. (Costco has two kinds; one with individually wrapped rolls, and 2-ply that is not individually wrapped. I think the latter ls less expensive than the former, but she prefers the former.)

And a late night final. Went to bed soon after my last posting about 3 hours ago, my whole mid-section was hurting and I wasn’t feeling comfortable sitting anywhere, even briefly considered going to the ER, but instead went to bed (still dressed in sweatpants and sweatshirt) and pulled up the comforter to boot and simply checked out for about 90 minutes; and wonder of wonders that seemed to be the cure, I feel fine now, no aches or pains at all, nothing sensitive to the touch…all I can figure is that I had a massive gas ball and sometime during sleepage it all leaked away…via one orifice or another. So will try to catch up with the evening internettin’ and make the Firday shopping list up before heading back to bed.

Cat Glove, bought some lotion last year for this, will look for some more on Firday (adds to shopping list)

Sari, eat well and hope Echo gets to feeling better.

JtC, glad Jolene got the attention she deserves, even if a bit colder than she likes… And regarding scales, this one is next to the sauna and is used almost constantly so I expect it to vary, the weight I write down every Monday is because my habits and eating are pretty fixed for that day, but the weight is usually at it’s lowest Wednesday or Thursday. And I had to get a pressure release tank when I replaced my water heater some years ago, so I know what you mean by more $$.

Cookie, good news for Sadie, bad news for your budget; such is the circle of life.

oopsie, very glad you didn’t get blown up… :boom: Hope Bailey gets her appetite for the snacks back.

FCM, we’ll wait with bated breath to see what the mystery Swiss Colony gift is. And ain’t it great to have a local garage that you trust.

flyboy, good walk. Got to 1.8 miles on the treadmill, but that pretty much wore me down. And love those Bernese pooches.

And that’s all I wrote for Thorsday (it is Thorsday, isn’t it? Days tend to confuse me). Catch y’all on Firday.

Dog’s name is Schatzi.

Me: Is that Schatzi?
Guy: Yes, it is!
Me: Hi, Schatzi!
Guy: Thank you!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 26 degrees Ferret Height(-3.3 Centipedes)

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/40f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “The weather is fucking fine. Just don’t put on makeup while you drive because you’re poke your fucking eye out.” It’s quite pleasant out there at the moment, not a cloud in the sky and it’s sunny.

You get used to it  Most of the time, I know when there should be a bus or train, whether it turns up on time, late or just doesn’t show is anyone’s guess. Luckily I work somewhere we’re not clock-watchers so if I turn up late because of public transport issues, nobody really bats an eyelid.

Ouch on the cost, but I’m sure she will be so grateful afterwards when she’s not in discomfort when she tries to eat.

JtC poor Jolene! She must have been devastated to find she wasn’t the centre of attention, and then when someone finally gave her some fuss, they neglected to warm their hands sufficiently. Oh, the trauma!

Oopsie I’m glad whatever happened across the street didn’t turn into anything more serious. And firefighters are always a bonus

swampy if you were open for visitors, I’d be sure to come and learn from the master of RDOS slothage!

Yesterday turned out to be far too busy and chaotic in the office, so it was a relief to get home. I had a couple of things to do and then got a bit of sofa time with Blossom for a change. She’s not a lap cat but she will get on the sofa beside me and accept lots of fuss. 'im indoors made dinner and I managed to get a reasonably early night.

Today we are expecting a quieter day here, especially as there’s only two of us in the office. I have some stuff to do that requires concentration and my co-irker is busy working through his list of stuff to get finished before he goes away. He’s off to Florida on Sunday, they were supposed to be going in January so he’d be there for his birthday but they changed plans after the election result so that they can be back home before the Orange Shitgibbon takes over.

I have a busy weekend coming up so I’m planning on a nice lazy evening to prepare myself for the onslaught!

I’m glad that you’re ok. I was concerned about you last night. But what if your decision not to go to the ER was the wrong one? :face_with_monocle:

Just saying…

/preaching over

BooFae, how long have you worked there? Seems like quite some time.

I am sitting here just trying to absorb the heat and recover from the very soggy breakfast cereal. Next up is getting ready for my appointment later this morning which is a loooooong drive to Kent. Then some visiting and such along the way back home.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 32 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 53 and N.O.S. We shall be bears who brunch this mornin’ at Eggs Up. I will have the traitorous crab cakes. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities.

CupCakes the problem with that would be folks would expect me to like talk to ‘em and such. Plus they might make noise durin’ nappage time. Even worse, they might drink all the beer!

Oopsie glad you didn’t get blown up.

Now I need more caffeine and then I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe is me!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Definition of a rude awakening: Checking on MIL and finding her in a heap on the floor, not knowing when she got there. :open_mouth:

When we were getting her up off the floor, she said she needed to go to the bathroom. Bad enough she thought she could make it without help, but she didn’t even try to get her walker. And even if she’d been inclined to call for help, her voice is so weak, we probably wouldn’t have heard her.

Needless to say, despite her earlier, very strong objections, we’re putting the alarm on her bed - well, we’ll ask Jessica to do it. Meanwhile, we did get her to the toilet, then back in bed, all cleaned up. FCD is sitting in there with her for now. Jessica and the nurse call her a “tough old bird” - I prefer the expression “stubborn old woman.” She’s reminding me more and more of FIL just before he died. And so the saga continues.

SIL is picking up FCD this morning and taking him to get his car. It’s laundry day but that’s the sum total of my agenda, apart from when Jessica and the nurse come. I really should dust. Maybe I will. < gasp >

Temps in the 20s, and we might see 40° today. Tuesday is forecast to be in the 60s, because weather around here is bat-crap crazy! If we do get a semi-mild day in the near future, I need to do one last de-leafing, then we need to put away the mower and sucker. Our gutters are scheduled to be cleaned on the 14th, and unless we need to shovel the evil white stuff, that will likely be the end of outdoor chores till spring.

And so it begins. Happy Firday. There’s not enough caffeine…

Despite the cold weather, I must bus it to urgent care to see if this is just inflammation or a recurring ( right after I finished the round of antibiotics) uti.
That would be a little too quick though.
I get 4 a year, every year.
I am actually drinking more, as if I don’t use enough t.p!
Sunday will be up to 38 with sun!
I hope you all have a better day than me.

Oooh…I started at the university back in 2000 as a temp, then got a permie role, left that after 10 years due to restructuring, was a temp for another 3 years but only worked at the uni(!), then got another permie role in 2014. I’ve been in my current office/team for nearly 2 years after 8 years in my previous team.

I hope you warm up a bit and the drive isn’t too bad.

I’m sorry MIL is being so stubborn :frowning: That’s the last thing you and FCD need. I hope caffeine improves your situation!

I must say, a shower and shampoo did a lot for my disposition. FCD is showering now, then I’ll haul the dirty laundry, including the towels, downstairs for that weekly ritual.

I feel like I should be baking something. On the other hand, it’s such a messy process. I dunno…

Ok, the package that was supposed to be here today is now due tomorrow. Which means, knowing our local FedEx hub probably Monday… maybe.

Good morning.

It’s 34F and cloudy outside. Today’s expected high temperature is 50F, and the skies will be generally cloudy.

Yesterday was long and frustrating, but at least I wasn’t at the office.

FCM, I’m sorry that MiL continues to be so stubborn. This has been one very long goodbye.

I’m trying to decide whether to run errands today or tomorrow. It’s supposed to be rainy tomorrow, but I’m a PNW’er and a little rain doesn’t bother me. On the other hand, tomorrow is Saturday and roads will be crowded because everyone will be running both weekend and holiday errands. Also, I would like a day of sloth, to be honest. It’s been quite a week, and I’d like to chill and tackle small projects around the house today.

Metal Mouse, I’m glad the abdominal pains went away. I was pretty worried about you.

Okay, it’s time for some more coffee and my usual yogurt and banana.

Good morning all. Slept a good seven hours and woke feeling fine, but will watch for signs in the future of any like issues. Need to do the Firday shopping, I have my list written out and will wait for the morning traffic to die down before venturing out. It’s 22F here in N. Ali-bama which is really cold for this part of the planet, so may haul out the winter coat for this sojourn outside.

FCM, don’t know if it’s stubbornness or she simply can’t remember how frail she really is. Hugs to all anyways.

boo fae, hope the concentration time is available to you today.

Sticky Buns, Taters, I appreciate your worry, I think I may have been overdoing at the gym and it caught up with me, but I’m feeling fine now. But will cut back a bit and watch for it re-occurring.

OK, onward into the day, but need to break my fast first. Have a good Firday all.

And she seems to defy all the signs that the books and the nurses have told us about. That’s what’s really hard on us - we brace ourselves for “any day now” but that day drags into weeks. I’ve said it before - it’s exhausting, physically and emotionally.

Last load is in the washer. I need to divide the laundry better - first load was really sparse, but the last load is kinda almost over-loaded. I need to keep that in mind in the future, especially since I’m essentially back to laundry for 2.

Waiting for Jessica and for SIL - she’ll do her usual sponge bath thing, and he’s supposed to take FCD to pick up his car.

Did I mention our roads are being torn up? All the culvert pipes that pass under our 3 neighborhood roads are being replaced. There are 4 on the road next to our house, one on our road and I think 2 or 3 more on the other road - I didn’t drive there. Anyway, yesterday, I had to come in on the farther road because the one next to our house was blocked off for asphalt destruction! Not sure how much longer it will last, but at least we have two options for getting into or out of the neighborhood.

OK, back to my book. Giving my fingers a rest from crochet.

Happy Friday!

It’s a snowy 29 feels like 20 degrees outside.
I’m glad to be inside.

I slept in until 730 this morning.
I had planned to clean the garage today, but not when it’s this cold. There’s not much to do in there anyway, mostly sweeping up leaves and dirt and cleaning the dead bugs off the window sill. There’s some boards I’d like to move into the workshop. Cleaning the workshop is another story. There’s still cardboard to cut up, and the tools need to be put away. I figured out that the person who lived here two people before us worked on cars. There is a lot of storage area, more than we will ever use. But I know how quickly garages and workshops can fill up and I want to nip that in the bud.

The agiliity course for the dogs was delievered yesterday. Too cold to play with it today, but I can tell my son is wanting to pull it out and play with it. I don’t know how well the dogs will do with it, I’m not expecting much. I know they are never going to run the course, that is not a Shar Pei thing. Although you never know, there was a Shar Pei on a flyball team. I’m just hoping it gives them something to do and helps Rayleigh build some confidence.
We put the new rug down by the back door and Rayleigh was afraid to walk on it. Echo is sleeping on it. I don’t know why Rayleigh is getting timid lately. He has never been the bravest of the bunch, but being afraid of a new rug is not normal.

It’s good that where you irk is a bit flexible with time BooFae. None of my past jobs were and coming in late would be questioned. The few times I was late because of traffic, so was most everybody else in the office. When I worked for State Police we couldn’t even be late because of weather, even if the other state employees could come in late. The officers had to be on time and if they could do it, so could we.

I need to get busy. I told my son one room a day for a deep clean. Today is Dining Room day, which wont take long as there’s not much in there. The seat covers are in the wash. He needs to clean his stuff off the table, not that that will last long as it’s where he does the Legos. I have a few things that need to be put away too.
Then we’ll start in the Living Room. Which is also going to be pretty easy. I have a bunch of paper irk in there that needs to be filed, da jungle boxes need to be cut up, and I need to shred a bunch of stuff. Recycling was delayed one day, so it can go out tonight. We need to measure for a rug, and I think that is going to be hard because of the stairs. I’ve been putting it off, but it’s time to get it done. Or maybe I should wait until after I get the stairs done. I want to rearrange some of the furniture too. Maybe the Living Room is not so easy.
This is where I get hung up with getting things done, I never know what order to do things.

I’m glad you are feeling better MetalMouse
I’ve found that often a nap or a good nights sleep clears up a lot of the body’s ills.

Time to get back to irk.

it was a wild and windy thursday. i read yest. but posting was right out.

first i had forgotten i had jury duty until i put in for a vacation day for yest., got an email back asking “don’t you have jury duty that day?”.

i did. thankfully you can call after 5 pm the night before to find out if you need to report. i called around 5:30ish. i did not have to report! woot! vacation day!

got out of bed after 9am. went out to get batteries and breakfast. the wind really started picking up while i was at breakfast. it swirled around the terrace area making leaf devils. when i left the restaurant i fought the wind back to the building. it was intense. i would zip between gust breaks.

the holiday decor event was scheduled to start at 7pm.

when i got back to the building at around 11, i started in the secret room. i put together a very uncooperative shelf unit (i still need it fix it properly) to get it out of the way. then gathered the bins and boxes for the decor event. i got those staged by the door. cleared the fall decor from the lobby and put it away in the secret room.

at 2ish i was able to sit down for a bit of pumpkin pie. then at 2:45 i went back to the secret room to get the items. the tables were scheduled to be placed at 3, happily they were early!

we have 2 trees in the lobby, 1 table by each tree and one table off to the side of the tree. luckily i had 2 early helpers and they started the ornament sort. ornaments with hooks, put in 2 boxes; ornaments without hooks, put in 2 boxes. the new nifty toppers, a box with hooked ornaments, and ribbon were put on the tree tables. team tree.

poinsettias, vases, reindeers, faux flora, garland, wreaths, unhooked ornaments, and a iron bowl, were put on the other 2 tables. team decor.

vixen was placed on the piano, (i washed her skirt earlier so it was very brightly white), sadly her lights did not work. one of the early decorators tied a very nice bow around her neck, wired in the cardinal on her antler (i usually balanced it on her head), and added real holly to her “nest”. she looks very pretty.

it is now 6 pm and i got a chair and finally sat down… at the tree tables. there were 2 new boxes of ornaments so i put hooks on them and added them to the existing box.

at 6:50 people started arriving for the 7pm event. there was one last box to sort hooked from unhooked. this was an extra box. that was good for the youngon’s.

people got to decide if they were team decor or team tree. and it was time to “go wild”. 30ish minutes later and it was all done.

egg nog, cookies, and brownies were consumed. i got back to my flat at 8pm, took advil, and caught up a bit on the sdmb. then headed to bed to read.

jury duty may have been easier…

the wind was ridiculous yest… it was constantly whistling in the lobby, and the plants at the plant beds by the big windows were dancing like dervishes.

today dawned with a much calmer, though still cold day, back at the office, looking forward to less crazy time today.

Thanks! Today’s adventures will includes finally getting the ceiling fans hung. It looks like we are going to have to lawyer up over the windows, we put our deposit down back in August and are being ghosted.

At least I will be able to start baking this afternoon. I have a friend with chickens, but they don’t lay in the winter so I need to go into town for some sto bought eggs.

The look of shock and disgust on her face was priceless! She’s not best pleased today either. She got a little stranger fuss, but then they started ignoring her as well. Her lil’ apple cart has been turned upside down!

That certainly does sound like an unacceptable risk!

:people_hugging:

My project for this morning is piecing together a kitty shredded needlepoint chart that I stupidly left out last night. It is from a very old kit out of Mom’s stash and I doubt I’ll be able to locate the designer (if she is even still alive) so I really hope I have enough paper scraps to put the chart back together.

Perhaps, but not nearly so much fun. I’ll bet the lobby looks great

I don’t know if there’s a thread for Weird Things You Think Of When You Wake Up In The Wee Hours, so I’ll just throw it out here.
