(Old) It’s Moanday Again In The MMP

I’m glad you are feeling better.

{{{FCFamily}}}

Oy! It’s effin’ cold!

I got up early this morning, sheveled and went out to warm up the car to take my friend to treatment and guess what? I had a flat tire. I made arrangements for another ride for her and waited until daylight to call roadside assistance. The guy got my donut on, then I called the tire shop for a pair of back tires. I had planned to replace them next month, but this added a layer of inconvenience to it.

Once I’m done here, I’ll swing through CVS , go buy groceries and drop Xmas cards at the post office. Afterwards, I’m staying inside where it’s warm.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

FCD showed me a video of a BIIIIIG dog - maybe some kind of mastiff?? - on an agility course. He just moseyed along, doing it all but taking his sweet time. Cracked me up!!!

SIL has picked up FCD. Jessica just texted me - she’s running late but she’ll be here next. I had lunch and I’m reading as I wait. Nope, haven’t dusted yet.

A smoother heave, but boy was it cold. It was 30 degrees when i got out of work. At 0900. Good thing I’m a Wisconsin boy. Plus, ya know…money.

You should buy her a pearl collar, so she can clutch it.

Isn’t there a doc on this side of the Atlantic?

Nice!

May I share it?

Went to urgent care.
There was no blood this time, but some ( not many) leukocytes.
Since there should be 0, he sent another macrobid ( what I took last week) in.
I stopped at Meijers and got some packaged boneless chicken bites. Very good.

Sure!

Yay for Friday!

It’s another cold and breezy day here, too, but at least the gusts are only in the 20s (mph-wise) vs yesterday’s 50s. That was some serious wind at times! It’s currently 36°F – today’s expected high – but feels like 27. This should be the worst of it for a while, though: tomorrow starts a run of expected highs in the 40s/50s. :crossed_fingers:

Today’s construction-related excitement was some road repair. A big truck + a big trailer for the equipment were parked in front of my house all morning (blocking where I normally put the biiiiig trash can, meaning I had to haul it to the other side of the driveway this morning…the humanity!), but they finished up and departed about 30 min ago. I’m kind of surprised that they bothered: usually, the last step with these new houses is for the road to be resurfaced after all of the construction is finished and the heavy equipment is gone. I guess there was enough damage that they couldn’t wait to do some patching/temp repair.

I’ll be logging off work a little early today (because I can), and then I shall venture out into the cold and wind to go to the grocery store. I need bananas and a few other things, and I’ve used InstaCart and DoorDash way too much lately. I haven’t left the house all week: time to get out, even if it’s just for an hour.

Other than going to MD on Sunday for a bridal shower, my only plans this weekend are to do my Christmas cards. I have labels for the addresses, but I still need to write in/sign each card, stick it in an envelope, seal it up (yay for glue sticks), and put a stamp on it. It’s funny – in a sad way – how little patience I have for hand-writing and manually mailing things these days! At least I’m only sending out ~20 cards this year.

Phew!

I’m glad that a “reset” did the trick.

LOL! Sadly, they were all bundled up and I wasn’t able to even distinguish men from women.

Ha! :joy:

Ah, yes. The "but first"s.

I agree; the firefighters in my City are fine specimens, very easy on the eyes.

wise man

No RDOS activities for me so far today. At 8:12am I was still in bed looking at Instagram when my phone rang. It was one of the maintenance guys who said he’d forgotten to turn in his Pcard receipts from November. Normally the Division Manager deals with the process of getting them properly into the computer and send off report and receipts to the Ass. Dept. Mgr.; but since he’s in Florida for 3 week vacay, I said just put them under our office door and I’ll take care of it. Then I made several calls to find out when stuff is due to Finance Dept. but didn’t get any answers as one guy was apparently in a meeting and the woman I spoke to referred me to someone else in the Finance Dept who processes them. Luckily I worked with the someone else on a big retirement party so I knew she’d be lenient if I couldn’t make the deadline.

Then I had to deal with an email from a guy who needs a roll of quarters so he can buy himself a clue. I called the Deputy Director of his Dept (whom I used to work with regularly before I went to a different division. He asked me how I was and I said “Frustrated.” I explained why his report needed a roll of quarters and he said he’d 'splain things to the guy (whose critical thinking skills are deficient).

Then I sheveled, had a quick bite to eat then drove Hubs to the medical center for a CT scan.

While he was getting scanned, I dropped off a payment envelope at the post office then went to Kroger. Ran into a guy that I knew from when I was FT. We caught up as I haven’t seen him in years. Got pretty much everything on the grocery list and then went through the U-scan. Well everything went fine until I attempted to scan my coupon for Muenster. Let me tell you that this particular Kroger does not hire employees because they are rocket scientists. Had a VERY frustrating 20 minutes trying to get 2 employees to understand what the problem was. Oh well, said a very quick prayer for them and felt better.

Then I picked up Hubs and we went to one shop that I wanted to buy a gift for my Secret Santa recipient from but it was closed. So then I drove him to the museum where he has a membership. I bought something for said SS recipient from Museum using Hubs membership discount. [mini-score] I left him there to walk while I went to Michael’s to pick up some gifts I’d ordered for SS recipient, BF and daughter then to Barnes & Noble to order the daily tear-off calendar that daughter loves (I’ve been getting it for her for at least 10 years-it’s WeRateDogs).

Then back to museum. I texted Hubs that I was there but he didn’t come to the exhibition entrance to “let me in”. So, I asked the woman manning the admittance desk if I could sit on the couch just inside the door and wait for him. She decided that I didn’t look like a scammer so she stamped my hand and let me in. Since Hubs wasn’t replying to my text, I called him and as it turned out, he was in one of the eateries (Plum Market which is in the museum but outside the exhibition part of museum) sitting at the counter having a chicken salad sandwich so I joined him. He cut off about a third of his sandwich for me which was just enough. After eating, we went back into the exhibition part of museum. As we entered, I said to the woman, “See I really do have a husband and he really does have a membership card”. Everyone laughed. So we went and looked at the trains and the Lego exhibit which is right next to the trains. Hubs said he asked the docents what gauge the tracks were and I believe he said O. He said he needs a new transformer. I’m not sure he ever put up his train set under our Christmas tree in the 44 years that we’ve lived here. Maybe he got them from his Mom sometime after we bought this house and I wasn’t aware of it. He said that he would look into buying a new transformer sometime in the new year and set up his train set under a tree next year. Hopefully by that time the Dr will allow us to have a tree in the house. (I’m thinking that I will look into purchasing a transformer for either Christmas or his birthday in January. Hey guys, any idea where I can find such a thing?)

After we left the museum, we stopped at the bank so Hubs could get some cash to put in the envelope labeled Advent Project-Donation for Needy family.

On way home I received a call from friend of a friend who asked if I’d be available to sub for pinochle next Thursday. Since Hubs was in car, he was able to say that he didn’t have any appointments next week (the following week he has about 5 appointments). So she said that the ladies all bring an unwrapped toy that is then donated to Toys for Tots at the Police Station. So, I was going to go to Target but Hubs said he thought he might have something that he bought some time ago that he never gave to anyone. So, he went upstairs digging in his closet and came down with a stuffed Canadian mountie and a stuffed horse for the mountie to ride with original tags on them that said “The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends”. So, I didn’t have to go to Target after all.

Now I should get started on addressing Christmas cards or washing dishes or finishing reading today’s MMP posts; there’s 21 to go.

The doctor’s appointment went well. She said there’s a procedure that she might be able to do that would be helpful. This would have to wait until we start our new insurance through MusicMan’s new job. I’m ok with that.

Then we got home finally and I made sloppy joes. I had 5lbs of meat and was multiplying the recipe for the sauce. I opened all the tomato sauce cans and realized that I had opened five 16oz cans instead of five 8oz cans. So, I’ve got lots of sauce left for next time!

yikes, meant to send directly to someone and accidentally posted it to the board. nothing to see here. :ghost:

Bummer!

'nother bummer!

I’ve been seeing Bullwinkle related things in stores lately, Rocky and co. are timeless!

How clever of you, saving time for the next batch like that! Good thing that sort of thing freezes well, isn’t it

So the fans are installed and they look very nice. It will be so good to have a working fan in the kitchen and the extra lights in my stitching room will be very helpful in the winter. All of the bulbs can be replaced without removing any glass and the bedroom fan doesn’t osculate like an unbalanced gyroscope at high speed anymore.

Wow, just making an appointment for a lawyer consult worked wonders. Hubs just got a call from the scheduler and our windows are going to be installed on Monday. Hubs told me to not cancel the appointment until they actually show up which is fine. It isn’t until Wednesday so we have time.

Sadly, I called the cat friendly Holiday Inn and learned that not only are they no longer cat friendly, now they are not pet friendly at all because bad pet owners ruined it for everyone. We do have a plan B, but that mostly includes stuffing GG and Jolene into his carrier then putting them in the closet in my stitching room and and me in the room with the door closed.

Are you Mrs. Banks?

Summary

Mary Poppins reference

I’m so sorry that bad people ruin things for good people.
that will make for some close quarters for GG and Jolene :giggle:

Now I’m really going to get on cards or dishes; aw heck, Imma going to watch figure skating (it’s the Grand Prix finals)

One year ago right now Suzette was loading me into the car. It was really nice day, kind of like today and we had gone for a walk around the perimeter of Westroads parking lot. About a quarter of the distance I started having chest pains. She drove me to Methodist Hospital.

While the nursing staff were taking my vitals the chest pains eased. I was parked in the hallway waiting to see a Doctor. She held me overnight for observation and further testing the next morning.

I had a lot of tests including an exploratory heart catheterization. I was put on a schedule and five days later I had open heart surgery for a triple bypass.

Hoooray that it had a happy ending and you’re here with us today!! That musta been scary!

Speaking of scary…

Around 3-ish, FCD went back to have a nap. I was reading, and eventually I dozed in my recliner. I woke a bit after 4 and decided to check MIL before starting supper. She was uncovered, lying about 45° to the centerline of the bed, trying to swing her legs over the far side. When I spoke to her, she looked confused.

I managed to get her back in position and started covering her. She asked for some water, which I gave her, then started talking about papers. I tried to cover her arms, and she told me not to. She was talking more clearly than she has in the last few days, but nothing she said made any sense. I got FCD up, hoping he could figure something out, but he was as lost as I. He gave her some meds and she fell back to sleep. We’ll need to dose her good before we go to bed. Either that or take shifts listening for her.

Who knew??

Speaking of SS gifts - I’m hoping to find something at the hospice fundraiser tomorrow. I had something else in mind, too, but the place where I want to get it has limited hours, which I missed this week. So we’ll see how it works out. I’m kinda sorry I donated all the cat butt coasters to Hospice - a set of those would make a lovely SS gift!!

OK, that’s all I’ve got for now. Hold the applause.

And here I thought that he was looking at a Transformer Lego set. :stuck_out_tongue:

Check out hobby shops in your city. There are still some dedicated to model rail and air (I have one in my town).

Yay for getting some treatment soon!

I’m glad that you lived to tell about it! Here’s to many more years.

I now have new rear tires! They even gave me the same price that I paid for the front tires last summer, saving me $60.

Once that was done, I hit the CVS at Tar-jay to pick up a prescription, picked up some chocolate bars for tea party favors (I’ll make snow folk out of them with paper), bought groceries, mailed holiday cards and ordered some new irk shoes from da Jungle.

Supper was a jalapeño cheeseburger wrap and a salad.

Howdy Y’all! We brunched and then came back to da cave where it’s all warm. Nappage and day drinkin’ were also accomplished. We had Netflix, chill and popcorn time. OYKW is watchin’ teevee whilst laid upon the bed. I am in my recliner with my tablet. We are the very picture of two retired and grumpy old gay men.

Said every nurse ever!

Is it Dudley do-right? Second best Mountie after Benton Fraser.

I did some Santa shopping on the way home.

Much calmer day today.
