(Old) It’s Moanday Again In The MMP

Me too today. Cut in the sidewall so can’t be repaired. Need 4 new tire because it’s an AWD. Over $600, which I did not need this month of all months. Subarus use big tires, so expensive. Should give me great traction this winter though (don’t mind me, just trying to find a silver lining). The tow truck driver my roadside assistance service called was great though and made it slightly less annoying. Now I wished I’d thought to slip him a tip but at the time I was too verklempt.

Wandering off now to knash my teeth. Need to have the car at the tire shop, only a few blocks from me at 8am. Boo does not like to do early mornings. Then I’m due at the dentist at 10:30am, only a mile and a half or so away. Last time I saw her she gave me a treatment plan totaling $17,000. It is to laugh. Wandering off to knash my teeth even more.

You got out of there pretty good, considering. The inconvenience of it sucks though. I paid $360 for 2 and that was with a $60 discount.

It could have been a lot worse, I know. Mine were $200 each, so very close to yours. It was a buy 3, get one free deal. Two would have been $400 and been less than ideal for AWD so I’m choosing to think of the next two as only $100 each.

I have a feeling that the dentist tomorrow won’t be nearly that merciful.

{hippie} so wonderful that you received the needed surgery on a timely basis and your recovery has gone so well. I’m happy for you. . . and for us to be able to continue to see your beautiful quilt work.

The figure skating was beautiful. Yesterday was Women’s Short Program and Pairs Short Program. Today was Ice Rhythm Dance, Men’s Short Program and Pairs Free Skate. My favs from today were the American Dance Team of Madison Chock & Evan Bates and Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakstan and the very best was Ilia Malinin of the US-his program was breathtaking.

red I see you were also very busy today. Like Tom Hanks You Got Mail. :slightly_smiling_face:

Its 24 outside, so dinner is a Mexican Firing Squad, cod with seranno peppers, corm with Hatch chillies, and lime cillantro rice.

Uphill, both ways?

Yay!

Evening all. Been meaning to respond but it’s been a beaver-day (One Dam Thing After Another) here. Did shopping then swimming then 2nd breakfast then a soccer class and then the Big Bowl O’Salad…and tomorrow starts with me trying to teach a bunch (probably about 20-25) 7-year olds about indoor soccer. So early bedtime for me.

FCM, must be pipe-replacing season, we had the same thing going on here the past several months, which included detours around and about the work for me. They are in the grading and re-seeding portion now so much easier to get around.

Sari, good luck with the dogs and good idea on doing the cleaning one room at a time.

Flyboy, I gotta admit, those are pretty weird…

red, BBBoo, bad news with the tires, hope no other car troubles this year.

rocky, glad the criminals weren’t criming that much so you got a free day…except from your description of the tree-decorating day, wasn’t much free about it…

JtC, glad you are well-hung now (I mean the ceiling fans, of course…).

Cat Glove, sounds like a full day. My Kroger folks are usually very helpful, especially when I screw up something.

Sticky Buns, well, with that much sauce for the Sloppy Joes, I’m sure you had some…sticky buns…

Hippie, that’s quite a story, we’re all glad you came through it OK and are with us here.

BBBoo, thanks for the compliment, but I like watching trains, not playing with them, so afraid I can’t be much help here.

And that’s all I wrote. Paperwork for tomorrow’s madhouse of soccer is ready, face has been fed, and bedtime beckons. Have a good night all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday. it’s also 22 degrees Ferret Height(-5.56 centipedes)

Bite your tongue.

What, Mooooommmmm!!! forwarded her Spam emails?

What city? I foresee a sudden, um, crisis in my kitchen.

Coupla years ago, my mother was telling me about how her friend had a health crisis and my mother had to call 911.

The centerpiece of the story was my mom’s  :face_holding_back_tears: reaction to a parade of Chippendale dancers EMTs marching into her friend’s living room.

ETA: hey, auto-correct, thanks for changing that to “loving” room, way to put a weird spin on that story.

Imma borrow this line.

Definitely on my To-Do list.

My back did that TWINGE thing yesterday.

I wasn’t even doing anything strenuous, just walking the fryer-grease-suckage machine back to its spot, when suddenly something went SPLANG in my lower back, and has been intermittently re-doing same since.

Made many undignified noises today.

Trying to decide dinner. Could be pierogi (I do have bacon & onion) could be something shoved into the nuke or oven, could be an insta-cup of bean soup.

One thing’s for sure, the ratties have a drinking problem. How many friggin’ water bottles do I need to refill a day?!?
I think Charm and Pretzel are gettin’ a meal upgrade.

Another weirdass dream. A hamster?
No more dreams please.
Took meds, back to sleep.:hamster::game_die::sleeping_bed:

Heh.
Glad you are feeling better.

Understandably so. I hope you stop twinging today!

Currently I am freezing (big surprise) and Annie is watching me from her chair. Later today when MusicMan gets home from work we’re going to head to Columbus overnight. Older stepson is singing in a program at church and has invited us to come listen. So that should be cool. And, I’m not gonna lie, but the opportunity to have dinner at Dirty Franks’s Hot Dog Palace sounds good, too!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 26 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 58 and N.O.S. No plans to be anywhere today which as always is fine by me. My DAWGS play Tex-ass for the SEC championship at four p.m. I took a hunk o’ beast outta da freezer last night. It will get chunked and thrown in the slow cooker with some N.O.T., carrots, onions, garlic and ‘shrooms to become beast stew. This will be sup along with a baguette that will get buttered, garliced (is too a word!) and toasted.

Boo and red sorry for the tire woes. Always sucks when that happens.

JtC sorry ‘bout the plumbin’ woes. That also sucks.

shoe hope your back is feelin’ better today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning all. Up early as indoor soccer starts today at 8:00am and runs to about 4pm (for 8U/10U12U) so hope I can get a short break and some nourishment somewhere in there. It’s 20F right now, so indoors is the best place to be doing soccer, will get to 54F later in the day according to the Weather Wizards. That should pretty much take care of the day’s activities for me.

Shoe, hope the back stops twinging.

Sticky Buns, looked up Frank’s place and happy eating (may have a home-prepared cheese dog in solidarity).

swampy, good luck to Georgia today, ain’t going to be easy.

And time to break my fast and get myself organized for a day at the Junior High gym. Take care all.

Obviously more than you do now! You just need a barrel with multiple connections leading to multiple hoses or nipples or whatever they use. How hard can that be??? (d&r)

Not going into the tale of someone trying to get out of bed again, nor will I tell how I’ve set up a baby monitor aimed at the bed.

BUT, I pulled the Santa T-Rex sweater out - I plan to wear that today. The kids will get a kick out of it. And I think I’ll swap purses and use the little one, since the pants I grabbed don’t have pockets and I just don’t feel like changing them. I’ll stick my ID, some cash and a credit card in the small one (and my phone, of course) and I’ll be good for the Festival of Trees. Plus afterwards, I’ll run into Aldi for eggs. So, as you see, big plans for me!

Today started at 22-stoopit-degrees, but we’ve got a slight warming trend for the next few days - close to 60° tomorrow and not dropping below freezing till Weds. Maybe tomorrow I’ll do my last sweep thru for leaves. Or not. We’ll see how I feel when I wake up.

Till then, Happy Saturday!!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/42f with no predicted change, and showers. Weather app says “It’s fucking raining. I hope you like wet dog smell. Fucking gross.” Well, it’s definitely raining out there, we have been visited by Storm Darragh and have a severe weather warning for gales, strong winds and rain which runs through to at least tomorrow morning.

That’s very good news, especially if it can be done via MusicMan’s insurance too. And well done on the batch cooking! Good thing sauce freezes well, you’ll have saved yourself a bunch of time too.

JtC I love the idea of a pearl collar for Jolene, she’ll get lots of use out of it! I’m sorry to hear that bad pet owners have ruined things for the good ones though.

I’m so glad it was caught early, dealt with properly and we get to keep you around with us! Must have been scary for you and Sunshine though.

metalmouse glad to hear you’ve recovered from whatever injury you did to yourself in the gym. I thought about you this morning while I was doing battle with the elliptical trainer.

It’s been a busy day so far, I was up relatively early to feed and medicate the mogs, cleaned the litter trays, had some breakfast and a cup of tea before heading off to the gym. I got an email saying that I’d cancelled my spin class booking (I hadn’t, guess the gym did that) so my only confirmed activity was kettlebells. I went in with enough time for an hour on the pushme-pullyou which burned 630 cals, then I did a half-hour kettlebells session which was probably another 200-300 cals. Not bad for the morning.

Home to get a bath, wash my hair, get some lunch, run the rollsuck, and clean up some other bits of the house as we have friends coming later today. Hopefully they will have a trouble-free journey down from Lancashire, they’ve booked into a guest house about 10 minutes walk from us. We had planned our evening but things may change depending on the weather - it’s very wild and wet out there at the moment. One of the front fence panels has blown down (it does that every time we get a gust of wind), and now one of the back fence panels has come down too. No point doing anything about that until the storm abates, and that’s not likely to be until tomorrow or Monday.

Time to get properly dressed, make more tea and wait for our friends to let us know they’ve arrived

I took advantage of the pellet stove shutting off a bit so I could clean the ashes out of the combustion tray, and then clean the soot off the window, giving us (temporarily) a view of the flames. In the few milder days ahead, I’ll dump the ashes and clean under the combustion tray (the stove needs to be cool for that event.) And I got a suggestion for eliminating the smoke smell when it starts up. It’s firing up again, so we’ll see if the suggestion works.

I’ll be leaving shortly for Daughter’s - guess I should swap out purses and have a quick visit to the potty. I’m thinking we should go there in separate cars, just in case I need to come home quickly. The event is being held less than a mile from their house, so it’s not like it’ll be a terrifying waste of fuel for 2 of us to drive to the same place at the same time. I just don’t want to risk cutting things short for them if FCD should call.

I’ll see if I can get some adorable photos to share - you have been warned!!!

Goo was very interested in something between Catmom’s ottoman and the fireplace. I thought she’d found a spider for me to rescue, but when I got up I saw that it was an earthworm. I tossed it onto the lawn. Maybe it was looking for its mouse.

Not doing so well this morning. The wife was craving a cheeseburger, so we went to 5 Guys down the street. If I’d stuck to the burger, I would have been fine, but I decided that I really wanted a vanilla shake, despite knowing what that would likely do to my gut. That much dairy and sugar equals gastric distress. So breakfast this morning is a cup of tea and I’ll likely need a nap later, as it was an unpleasant night.

At least we’re above freezing today and for the next few days.

Good morning.

It’s 51F outside, which is the high temperature for today. It’s also very, very soggy outside, and it will rain throughout the day.

Hippy, I’m so happy things were caught early, and you’re still here to share the story.

Speaking of fogginess, I left the pet door open so the dogs could take care of their after-breakfast business. I heard them go out about thirty minutes after they ate. I thought I heard them both come back in relatively quickly. That was not the case. About 20 to 30 minutes ago, I heard a woof next to my window and immediately recognized Maisie’s bark. I called her inside and she was both sopping wet and muddy. :expressionless: I had to stick her inside her kennel while I found a towel to wipe her down. I’ve got her wiped down and her paws, but I’ll need to do a more complete job after I finish my coffee.

Buster still doesn’t like getting wet unless he’s chasing hose spray. Maisie loves the water (except for bath time).

It’s my son’s 32nd birthday today. He’s had a long, hard work week, so we’ll get together to celebrate another time. Today, he will stay home, play his favorite computer game, and maybe nap because some of this week’s work days started at 7:00 a.m. and didn’t end until 10:00 p.m.

I contacted the oven repair people yesterday because I hadn’t heard anything about them returning to install the part. I had to call them twice, but now I have an appointment for this coming Wednesday to get the control board installed in the stove. Thank goodness, because I really didn’t want to spend dollars on a new stove, but on the other hand, I didn’t want to have to keep waiting. I’m kind of sick of having to fry everything.

FCM, I used to carry a large to medium-sized purse. I got sick of carting those large purses around, so I found a crossbody purse and wallet all in one. I can fit my cards, cash, some mints, and phone in there, and that’s it. It’s perfect for traveling. Organizer/purse

I’ve had this for a few years now, but I’m thinking of going just slightly larger and having the organizer part of the purse be inside or zipped rather than snaps.

That’s about all that’s happening in my little corner of the world. I hope you all have the type of day you want.

I hope that you can soonest. I would hate to see you have a flat during a Mitten State blizzard.

While I was at the tire shop yesterday, a woman came into the waiting room with a miniature poodle named Sasha who reminded me of pics of your Annie. Much making over and many skritches were given when she hopped up on the chair beside mine.

I hope that it feels better soonest. If it’s a muscle thing, a pound of white rice in a sock with the end tied and nuked for a couple of minutes makes a very effective and inexpensive heat pack.

Happy birthday TaterTot! (couldn’t resist, I’ll show myself out)

I had a similar one to that years ago. It was long enough ago that there was no need for room for a phone, but a pack of cigarettes and a lighter fit nicely.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I’ll head to the grocery outlet and Sprout’s market in a bit. I decided what tidbit to take to the holiday tea as my potluck contribution and need some unsalted cashews and almonds to make it. I bought pecans yesterday (thought I’d have to take out a bank loan for them :open_mouth: ) and will make spiced nuts.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Saturday morning, all!

It’s another chilly day – currently 33°F – but the expected high is 42, and while there might be an occasional breeze it won’t be anything like the winds of the past two days. And we’re entering a warmup: tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 60! :open_mouth: Then we’ll have a run of highs in the 50s/40s/50s/40s/etc. I’m grateful that tomorrow’s driving weather will be sunny and warm-ish. I’m also grateful that the warmup is happening at a time when I have a handful of plans. I always have homebody tendencies, but they kick into high gear at this time of year: very cold weather (i.e., outside temps below 40) makes me really not want to leave my house. Over the next couple of weeks I have tickets to a couple of jazz holiday shows at my favorite live music venue, plus a blood donation appointment a week from tomorrow, and the milder weather will help me actually go to everything (and be social! hear great live music! do some good!).

Today’s plans include doing laundry and my holiday cards. And, shortly before sunset I’ll put fresh batteries in the outdoor string lights: when I got back from the grocery store yesterday, I noticed that they were pretty dim (I now have a weekly reminder to replace the batteries). I also think I’d like to add lights to at least 1 of the 3 other front hedges, which means an Amazon order, but first I need to check my decor containers because I might already have a second strand. :crossed_fingers:

Speaking of decor, for anyone interested here are pictures of the first week of Swarovski advent calendar items:

The laundry and cards won’t take long/much effort, and I’m looking forward to mostly doing a lot of nothing today. I have TV to watch and books to keep reading – David Baldacci’s The 6:20 Man on Kindle, and an actual hardback (!) called The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks: The Story of a Design Icon – and I plan to spend a lot of time being one with my couch.

Boooo! It drives me crazy when bad apples ruin the bunch. Pet owners, renters, and female jazz vocalists all get bad raps because so many people suck.

Excellent advice.

UGH, I completely forgot about this year’s Grand Prix! It’s even available via Peacock! Thank you for mentioning it; maybe I can catch some of the finals this weekend. I’ve loved to watch figure skating since I was a kid. I still have fond memories of watching Torvill & Dean absolutely dominate the '84 Olympics with their Bolero routine!

FWIW, Ilia Malinin is from around here; within 10 miles of where I live. He gets a lot of (well deserved) local news coverage.

In the snow!!

I’d never heard that before, but now I must start using it! :joy:

Somewhere upthread you mentioned a bed alarm: when will you be able to install that?

I sometimes make food decisions like that, too…possibly even quite recently. You have my full empathy, and I hope the GI distress resolves soon!

Happy birthday to him! :tada:

(missred: “TaterTot”!)
