(Old) It’s Time For A New MMP

As you get older, a lot of muscles atrophy, including facial muscles and swallowing muscles. We also do exercises for the latter. Additionally, these days we spend a lot of screen time, which means your eyes don’t get moved around much. So those also need some exercise.

Good visit by elder and tribe. I’ve spent some time trying to figure out what any of my kids might want from all our “stuff”. It happens that I bought a Celestron C5 scope some years ago and a really good Manfrotto tripod to mount it on. Eldest lives in a relatively dark neighborhood and his kids are interested in the night sky, so I gave them the gear today, including a Barlow 2x and some moon filters. It’s unlikely I’ll ever use it again and it’s just sitting in a closet. Done and dusted, regretfully.

That looks like a fun festival! Have a pierogi or two for me. Glad Monkey’s back home.

If you want to get her a plushy that’s nearly indestructible and has no stuffing, Zippy Paws has a really good line. They’re plush covered industrial strength squeakies that take a long time to get torn up.

I swept and mopped the floors this morning. Then, when I was taking some of the flattened boxes to the car to drop off, I stumbled over the door sill and took a tumble. A lady who was walking home from work at the car wash down the street stopped to check on me. I lost some skin on my left elbow (went down on the left side), bruised my left upper arm (I carry lipstick in a pocket on that side that likely did the damage) and wrenched my back. Right now, I’m following boo’s advice and icing it. Tomorrow, I’ll go with heat. I knew that if I didn’t keep moving for a bit, I’d be even more sore, so I continued to get rid of the box flats, go to the dollar store and Aldi. I did manage to do some unpacking once home, but now, I’m down to the stuff that will take forever.

Tomorrow, Sis and BIL will be over for him to unbox the washer (too heavy for Sis or I to do that), take measurements and go home to build the dolly and shelf. Until we get the kit (it’s been reordered), we can’t hook anything up, so I’ll take a load of laundry to Sis’ one last time.

Now for chillage.

Howdy Y’all! Been a dreary day here weather wise. The rain stopped early afternoon but it is still overcast The high temp of the day was only 77. BRR! My DAWGS won big, as expected, 45-7. However, folks in Alabammy are dressed in sackcloth, heapin’ ashes upon themselves accompanied by much wailin’ and gnashin’ of teeth, as Bama got kind of a beat down from Flahrduh State to the tune of 34-17. I watched some of that as my DAWGS had their game well in hand. Sup got fixed and et. Earlier today I made some N.O.T. sallit for Moanday’s Labor Day feast. We have some already smoked ribs from the last big smoker cookage which were frozen and are now thawin’ in da fridge. We will also have baked beans and garlic bread. I shall now see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit.

red ouchie! Hope you are not too beat up and sore tomorrow.

shoe glad Monkey is back home. Have fun at the festival.

Cookie good that the equipment is goin’ where it will be used and appreciated.

doggio I had a bag phone late 80s to late 90s. I thought it was tres chic and oh so cool!

Oopsie glad the trip home was easy. I am sure Bailey is happy to be home with her human.

VanGo looks like Peach is right at home now. She is lucky to have you and you and lucky to have her.

flyboy you mentioned goin’ to check out the local episcopal church. You will probably see everything from suits and dresses to jeans. That’s what it’s like at mine. I go for “business casual “ attire personally. Usually dressy shirt, slacks and comfy dress shoes. I wear that even if I am servin’. One cannot be nekkid underneath one’s cassock and surplice even if one wants as that is frowned upon by Bishops and Priests. Deacons may or may not frown as they are more laid back.

You know how many times I’ve been surprised at what you can order off Amazon? Then again, man, the delivery driver must curse your ancestors for ordering that one.

Oh, this is the light-up harness, in case anyone else needs this in their life. Big question: do I get it in the pretty blue, or make a boy cat wear a hot pink light, cuz that would be hilarious…

The one vendor who was sold out. :frowning:

Oh, dang, it sure ‘nuff was. Small town, small festival.

Still, I got a coupla cute selfies (primarily for Mom Credit ™) and it’s held in a nice park in a lovely historic part of town, which made for a pleasant stroll and drive to/from.

So, no pierogi, but otherwise achieved precisely what I wanted.

FCM, yuck!

Flyboy, you’re a good spouse. I hope the mole people are dead and gone.

Yes! She liked it, though, and gave me pages of notes and several hours of discussion. I agree with most of it. However, she doesn’t like my protagonist’s name, to which I say, Oh, well.

And it’s approaching 10pm so I think I will be calling it a night and heading off to bed shortly. Mowage is planned for tomorrow as the prime activity, it’s supposed to get to ‘only’ 88F here…

doggio, enjoy the weekend.

Cookie, just pursed my lips ten times to see if those muscles are still working…so far, so good. And a very nice gift to family of the scope; hope they enjoy it.

red, ouch! Falling is not fun when you reach certain ages (and I would never mention a woman’s age, after all, I am a gentleman…) so take care and hope you are not too sore tomorrow.

swampy, I expect the sports radio folks in Ali-bama will be talking about the beat-down for awhile and the new coach is already on the hot seat…

shoe, cats are not colorblind (albeit there range is more limited than ours), so maybe get Monkey’s opinion?

:scream:

lily, happy editing.

And that’s all the energy I go left for this day, need to retire to the bedchamber and get ready for tomorrow. See y’all there!

Growing up Mormon, it was all suits, suits and suits. When I was visiting my mother two years ago, I dropped her off at her church. The women were all dressed and the men were all suits and ties or dress shirts and ties. They looked at me askance when I got out in shorts and a T shirt and looked quite relieved when they saw I wasn’t going to go into the church in that set up.

It’s Sunday morning and I’ve brought SenBoy to his sailing practice.

It’s a really nice day today. It’s 27° C Saul it’s not too hot but it’s nice and warm. Down in Tokyo it’s probably 32° or 33° sea so that is too hot. And down in Taiwan then it’s up to 37° C. Which is way too hot.

The pushy consultant is trying to push his way back into the project. It’s really annoying, but it’s not going to work. Even my Japanese friend says that this guy is too pushy.

School starts from tomorrow, and SenBoy does not have his homework finished. SenGirl did a better job of it. And I haven’t really thought about the lesson plans so much.

Well, I’m off to get me some lunch from a convenience store while I wait for my son‘s practice to finish.

I took a short nap. I watched F1 and F1 Academy Free Practice. Dinner tonight was Asian BBQ stirfry and a Vieux Carré. Dessert was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Mattresses are worse. Trust me on this

Ouch.

Wait, homework before school starts?

Yup. Welcome to Asia. And out school actually has less homework than normal schools.

FWIW, Here’s the sandwich recipe.

  • Three strips of bacon, cooked and torn in half.
  • 1 jumbo egg
  • Heavy cream
  • Salt & pepper
  • American cheese (1 slice for her, 2 slices for me)
  • 2 slices toast
  • Butter or margarine
  • Non-stick spray

Mix the egg, cream, salt, & pepper very well with a fork. (Or whisk, I suppose.) Cook in a 10-inch non-stick pan with non-stick spray on low heat, covered. When the egg is done, put the American cheese in the middle and fold the sides and ends over it. Butter (or ‘margarine’) the toast and put the omelette on. Put three half-slices of bacons horizontally, and three half-slices of bacon vertically on top of the omelette and close. Just the thing when you need something quick.

That sounds so good

So glad to hear this! I lost some sleep about bad boy Monks, even though I’m many hundreds of miles away and couldn’t do a danged thing to help.

Solid plan on your part, glad all but your dignity survived the fall. It’s somehow worse when it’s witnessed but at least then we have some one to help us up.

One more night nurse suggestion: if there are no contraindications for you, before you fall asleep tonight take a dose of an anti-inflammatory (Motrin, Aleve, Advil-generic is just fine) and continue that throughout the day tomorrow. Not only will help with any painful twinges while you sleep but knocking back inflammation will make tomorrow easier. And hydrate of course, to help the medication work. I’ll keep a good thought for your body and your dignity through the night, sayeth the cranky night nurse.

I kept an eye on your dawgs too, beings as I was in a good mood since my Huskers won their opener over Cincinnati, albeit in a squeaker. Taylor Swift was there cheering for Cinncy, her new fiancé’s Alma mater. We won in spite of it.

Sorry~that’s as bad as me missing out on kolaches.

Mom credit is always good. Stick a couple in frames from Michael’s and send them for Christmas.

Not as quick as using a scrambled egg, but not as messy either.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 84 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Verger duty. It’s also a fifth Sunday so we will have a Rite I service. Afterwords we will return to da cave for burgers and chips. Extra burgers were grilled yestiddy so we could have burgers today. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities.

BBBOO I saw that your ‘Huskers won. YAY! A win is a win.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

The poodle and I are in the midst of our morning routine. I will be commencing school work in the next hour or so. The rotation will be work, snack, nap, work, snack nap, etc. Hopefully I can get enough done today so that I can just chill tomorrow.

Catch y’all later!

Pretty much my life!

< awakens >
< screaming cat appears >
Now that I’ve ministered to the S.E.G., I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall do morning cleaning and afternoon sloth, with a little day drinking thrown in.

The Badgers and the Wolfpack also won, so it was mostly a good weekend for College handegg.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/64f with a predicted high of 19c/66f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s pretty fucking nice outside. Get the fuck outside and take on the world.” Err…no, thank you, I have no plans to leave the house today.

I don’t understand that either. We had bikes from as soon as we were big enough to ride them, and spent most of our summers riding around the neighbourhood with friends. Easiest way to get from A to B when you’re too young for a car, and it certainly helped me with my very frequent trips to the library!

I hope you enjoyed it! And don’t worry about the state of your home, as long as you and your feline overlord are ok, that’s what matters. Clean-up can happen later.

I’m glad everything went ok, and your aunt has a good support system. Having a long weekend at home with Bailey will be good for both of you!

Ouchie! I hope you’re not feeling too battered and bruised today, definitely a good idea to follow BBBoo’s great advice.

Lily happy editing, and I’m sorry your friend didn’t like the protagonist’s name, surely the least of your concerns

Yesterday was a very busy day in the end. I was up early to get to Brockswood for 8am to help set up the Little Paws stall, and ended up staying for about 6hrs. We didn’t make much money out of it but it’s all good publicity for us. I was home by about 3pm, got my hair washed and dried, made some chilli for dinner, cleared up afterwards, fed the cats, did the litter trays and was ready to go our again by 6.30pm. We got an Uber to our favourite local venue and made it just in time for the opening act. It was very busy, the venue has a capacity of anything from 250-3,500 in the main area, it’s not often they open up the whole thing (various bits are barriered and curtained off, depending on expected numbers). We’d seen the opening back the week before at Rockwich, they said ticket sales were about 1,500 at that point so it was a decent crowd. I was pleased to see the place pretty full when we arrived as Sam and his band deserve more recognition that they’ve had recently.

After the gig, we popped into the Giffard but it being month-end and beer deliveries not coming until Monday, they’d run out of our favourite beer so we had something else which I wasn’t that keen on. We decided to stroll up the road to the Posada instead, had a couple of drinks in there and chatted to a couple of folks we know from there, then it was 2am and we were heading home.

No big plans for today, I’m up and the cats’ needs have been met for a while, I’ve had a nice soak in the bath and now I’m sitting here with a cuppa. I don’t have much planned for today, I need to get a couple of birthday cards in the post for the coming week, and one I’ll need to do from an online site because I have no stamps left and I can’t get it in the mail in time to reach the intended recipient. The rest of the day will be spent in high sloth mode as I have nothing that I want or need to do, and I have a book to read.

We delivered Roxy’s new one to her yesterday and she was delighted. I await videos of her riding. She was a tad unsteady sitting on it but she was still in her nightie, shoeless, and I know the extra 1/2” of sole will make a difference. Turns out Tobias had a new one, too, from his other grandmother. We do spoil our grands.

It was a chilly night - I woke in need of another afghan. I don’t understand the notion of sleeping cool - I need to be warm. Not hot, but definitely warm. Tonight, the comforter goes back on the bed! Too soon for the electric blanket… I think…

It was 52° outside when I dragged my carcass out from under the warm covers. No wonder I was cold, tho it was warmer in the house (with windows wide open)!!! I never imagined I’d need my fuzzy robe in August. And definitely no swimming at my mom’s today, tho I bet the kids will dive in.

Just got a text from my sister - I need to stop for a 4 and a 0 candle for Daughter’s cake. Luckily, we pass two dollar stores before we leave our county. Just heard from my sis that since the top layer of the cake is mousse, candles can’t be stuck in. We need to figure something out… Good thing I’m going there early.

We’ll leave here about 9:30 which should get us there a bit before noon. The party is to “start” around 1 - we’ll see who gets there when. It promises to be a really nice afternoon, weatherwise.

So that will be my day. Chances are you won’t hear from me till tonight, if even then.

Happy Sunday!!!

For mumpers who also post at Giraffe, is anyone else unable to access the site? I’m getting a “Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead” page when I try to go there.

Today I must cut up and freeze a couple of chonks of animal shoulder (pork and beef) I bought yesterday. I’m debating whether I want to braise a pound of the beef for future flautas or shredded barbecue beef sandwiches, but the weather is so hot that braising sounds a bit icky. But I’m so tired of salads and grilled summer meats by now.

The hot weather means I must stay on top of keeping all the potted plants in the backyard watered, as they dry out fast in 95+ temps. So I’ve got to get out and do that before it heats up.

Mr. brown is stirring upstairs, so I have to get started on breakfast prep.
