(Old) It’s Time For A New MMP

Is there something about neurologists this way? The one I used to see, every single visit, he’d sit with his feet up on the file cabinet and say, “You haven’t been taking your Dilantin.” Because my blood tests indicated a lower level of Dilantin than he deemed adequate. Must have been a year or more he kept saying that, and meanwhile, I was practically building my schedule around taking it every twelve hours. Like if I was in a movie theater, I’d keep track of the time and wash the pills down with my diet cola. Then finally, he offhandedly says, “Maybe you need to take a larger dose.” Ya think? Not long after that, I started weaning myself off it entirely. I hadn’t had a seizure the whole time I was allegedly underdosed, and I still haven’t.

So yeah, seek another neuro if at all feasible. Also, glad everyone’s okay!

There was a commercial that ruined that song for me. All I could hear from then on was, “Lemon Tree, it’s from Lipton; got that fresh-squeezed lemon taste!” Not that I loved it to begin with. “The fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.” Er, ever had lemon pie, or lemon chicken, or lemonade? And what’s on the rim of all those cocktails? Okay, you wouldn’t eat a lemon like an apple, but it’s not like it’s poison, or even indigestible.

SenWife had been looking forward to camping for several years. She bought a tent and some stuff last year but we got busy.

This year, she was dead set on going and had reserved the site several months back.

Last week, the weather turned bad so it looked like rain and more rain.

I’d just as soon stay in bed and surf the Dope as camp in the rain but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I put on my best game face and volunteered that a little rain wouldn’t dampen my spirits even though I’d be the one taking the tent down in the rain.

Fortunately, it didn’t rain as much as expected yesterday, but 23 mm was expected overnight and in the middle today.

We got a large tarp dining thingy so we put that up above the tent and used extra ropes to secure everything.

Just as I was falling asleep, the wind picked up and damn it sounded strong. The kids could sleep but SenWife and I were too worried.

Got some sleep and listened to the rain pour down. Having the tarp above the tent helped.

By the time morning rolled around, the storm had blown through and we could pack up without taking a shower.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 21c/69f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Each fucking cloud in the sky hates you.” Really? I hope not!

I hope SIL is ok, and your garage man can find out what’s wrong with the car. Also hope the grands and Trevor weren’t too much bother!

Fifty-Two I hope the eye infection clears up quickly and you’re soon back to seeing properly.

I am surprised people are willing to let their dogs out unsupervised but I’m glad Nelson has already made a friend. Good luck with the unpacking, getting creative again will be good for your soul.

Yesterday was uneventful, I irked and then tended to the needs of cats, made chicken curry for dinner and slothed on the sofa until bedtime. Today I was up reasonably early, the bank holiday on Monday means I get an extra day working at home so only two days on campus this week. Bonus!

Sadly, the building work continues next door, no idea what the idiot is having constructed but so far it’s involved an anglegrinder and pickaxe to remove a chunk of brickwork from the driveway, and there’s now a lot of sawing, banging and hammering of bits of wood.

I have had breakfast, chaired a short meeting, and now faffing with some odd jobs before lunch. I need to make campus food later, and then I’ll be out with friends at the pub for a while. It’s much cooler in the house today, for which I am very grateful. Oh well, back to irk…

Yes, it’s me again and the quoting, but I’m not going to fix it, so there!

Kaboom

swampy I also need a large nappage! That’s something that is less frequent these days.

JtC So, here’s a strange thing that we sort of have in common. I have a now abandoned Instagram page. My name has the word Wimple in it due to the odd assortment of things that I place on my head.

doggio, that’s quite the power group! I wonder how much touring they did together? :winking_face_with_tongue:

BooFae what do you get when you cross a cat, a chicken, and a sloth? (I have no idea, but it sounded interesting…)

Pilot, thank you as usual for your compassionate insight. This job is taking some getting used to, but I feel comfortable in a way that I never really have before when teaching.

FCM, first of all, I hope that SIL is doing well. Second, I don’t want you to be too dismayed, but Mel has been cheating on you with me. I started using a melatonin patch and it’s definitely been helping. This morning I woke up at 4:50 which is much better than 3:30. According to the instructions, it’s supposed to work at full force in about 2 weeks. I’m so looking forward to that as being a zombie all the time is not appealing.

Today y’all need to say a little prayer for my husband and mother. He’s taken the day off to drive her to the eye doctor which is an hour away. She’s having a test to see if she has something very serious wrong with her eyes. I don’t think that she as ever been this nervous before. And the combination of the two of them is not always the prettiest during the best of times. I hope they can get along for everyone’s sake and that my mom’s test turns out ok.

Meanwhile, I’ll be here working and my supervisor will be sitting by my side silently judging me. And, because I am just a photo happy kinda girl, I did create a before and after picture. That maybe shows the difference in the space.

Oh, and yes, there is a person made from forks attached to a disco ball which is hanging from my chandelier. And I just can’t understand why our visitors say that our home is whimsical!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 85 and sunny. Da cave windows are open to let the fresh air in. An odd thing to do usually this time of year. I am sure Summer will come back with a vengeance soon enough, but for now, we shall enjoy the cooler temps. We don’t need much in the way of provisions this week so we won’t go to the Pubic Sto’ today. A quick stop at the Food Kitty or Aldi’s will take care of that and will happen tomorrow whilst we are out and about. Thus we shall be RDOS sloths today, as is our wont. Sup will be leftover sketties with sallit and garlic breadsticks.

Sticky_Buns large nappage is always a good thing. Glad you’re happy with the new workspace. I really like those chairs!

red glad the new to you desk is workin’ out. Yay for Nelson findin’ a new friend!

sensei glad y’all didn’t get blown away.

BooFar happy pub night!

JtC fried green maters are good when done right. It’s an effort but the results are worth it. I don’t make ‘em often because I am far too slothful.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Oh, man, they are good. Slightly tart, and a bit crunchy from the breading.

Jeez, something as tiny as a Yorkie? Askin’ for trouble, but not my circus, not my monkeys doggies.

It’s stoopit early on my Blessed Day Off, Monkey is alternating between being a snugglebug and an annoying twit (he has the zoomies & keeps attacking my phone charger cord) and I iz hongry!

I’d like to get ambitious enough to go to Ye Olde Folks Diner up the street and get some fried eggs and maybe a pancake, but that would, like, require me to put on PANTS ferchrissakes, and I dunno about all that.

We have relocated from our fairy tale castle to a fairy tale fishing village.

Something that moves very slowly (sloth) across a road (chicken) and slinks along whilst dong so (cat)?

Your new workspace looks so inviting! I love the chairs, they’re really colourful - and why would you not have a person made of forks hanging from a disco ball? I’m sure it’s all tres chic!

About to take the car, then off to the boat to work. More later.

Happy Wednesday!

That looks so idyllic!

Okay, folks. I have achieved the Putting On Of Pants ™ and will join the old farts up the street for a diner breakfast. They have a combo of 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and a single pancake, which is just the perfect size of food for me.

I think I shall even treat myself to hot tea. I love the ritual of fixing hot tea from the diner setup.

Perhaps add on sourdough toast & jam (they feature a very nice strawberry jam) haven’t decided yet.

It feels a bit decadent, to pay for breakfast like this, but then, what the hell am I slaving away at work for, and anyway, I needz to eatz.

And it’s been a while, this isn’t an every week thing.

Good morning!

It’s 67°F, and a light rain is supposed to start up any time now. The rain is expected to continue until around 7:30, after which the day will remain cloudy, with a high temperature of approximately 78°F. I just went outside and checked because I have the windows open, and have only heard the rustling of a slight breeze, not rain. Yep, no rain yet.

Shoe, breakfast out is always a treat, and I’m glad you’re treating yourself.

FCM, yeah, I would try to find a different neurologist, too. Here is something interesting to note: My mother had a myriad of complaints that ramped up around age 70 or so. I noted that as she became older, the doctors seemed to ignore her complaints more and spent less time with her during visits. I know, from working at a hospital, that each type of visit has a certain length of time assigned to it, but the doctors she saw didn’t even spend that amount of time with her. I’ve heard this from other older female patients as well.

I’ve had fried green tomatoes twice. I had them at a diner down in Arkansas the first time, and I didn’t like them because all I got was heat (spiciness). I liked them the second time, though.

FCM, I sure hope they can figure out what’s going on with your SiL.

I remember Green Stamps. My parents kept them in an old tobacco box. I don’t really remember what we used them for either. The last time I recall seeing them was around 1973, and I don’t know if they were being honored at that point.

Johnny, I have relatives from my Dad’s side of the family who live around Camas. My Dad grew up there, actually. I couldn’t imagine driving from Camas to Seattle, but at least your co-worker only has to do it once a month.

My old SD (who was appointed under the previous administration and had to leave in January) called me yesterday. She’s become a board member of an organization my former organization partnered with and asked if would be interested in working part time there. The woman who runs that private organization has asked several times through both her and my former deputy if I’d be interested in working there. But the job is not something I’m interested in. It would entail ensuring the company was in compliance with federal grant guidelines, paying bills, and other related tasks. I’m not well-versed in grant management, and it doesn’t really interest me, to be honest. Still, it’s nice to be thought of.

JtC, I love the raven stories, too. I wish I had my own raven or crow visitor. For the time we actually fed the birds, I had a few regular crow visitors, who even left me presents, but they don’t really come around much anymore.

Well, I should get to gettin’. Please take care of yourselves.

We finally sold our CR-V yesterday. A person answered our craigslist ad, and after examining a texted Carfax report, offered us a price we’d be willing to accept. He said he’d hand over a cashier’s check as soon as he saw the car. It turned out he was a salesman at a car dealer. We’d rather sell to a private party, like we’ve done in the past, but the car wasn’t moving. We drove there, and he did not in fact have a cashier’s check ready for us, and he wanted to start negotiating the price. Mr. brown put his foot down and the salesman caved, but made us wait a long time before he cut us a check. Another person waiting said the same thing happened to him. He drove a long way to the car dealer for a supposed firm offer, with his wife and two toddlers in tow, and they tried to negotiate with him after the “firm” offer. He was furious.

I guess that’s a thing? Salesmen troll craigslist and behave as though they’re private parties, but once you respond and meet, you discover that they are just car dealers.

Anyway, that’s done now and we can stop stressing about having that surplus car to insure.

sticks and scones, you are my kind of decorator! love the chairs! look at that very cute good puppy!

jtc, a raven door. wow. i don’t think i would have thought about that, but now…i’m thinking of all sorts of raven doors/windows.

cervaise, that looks magical. you hit my favourite sky colour.

purplehorseshoe, one of my favourite day off things, is to go out for breakfast. roll out of bed and roll into the restaurant/diner. i have jeans and a sweatshirt/hoodie hanging on the bedroom door for late night emergencies (they happen in multifamily buildings where people have shift work). makes it easy for the roll out/roll in.

yest. was follow up eye appt.. all good. left eye is within normal parameters. at the next appt. in dec. i will get distance glasses for sporting events/movie watching. it is still surreal not wearing glasses.

i also like the folk side of music. harry chapin, peter, paul, and mary, gordon lightfoot…great stories and music.

tonight is the condo meeting, it is on zoom, so i’ll get things done in the flat. the meetings alternate between in person and zoom. the in person is longer and can get out of hand at times. the zoom is faster due to muting. i usually pick an area to tidy and have the ipad nearby. there is a bit of fumbling if i have to speak. works out fairly well.

Good morning all. Slept until 7am and have performed the morning chores, so ready to face the new day…which appears to be much like yesterday, on 67F outside reaching the low 80’s later and not a hint of rain…so AC will get more rest time and I will have a good evening to practice soccer with the U12 boys. After a lot of store-shopping the last two days I should be more of a homebody, need to perform preventive maintenance on my hearing aids and get the garbage bin to the curb tonight, but otherwise can practice my RDOS skills.

:scream: That would drive me up the wall. Came out of the gym yesterday about 4pm and one of the main roads was closed due to an accident, so a 3-mile drive home took 35 minutes and that tested my patience, but 3 hours…

I suspected that. Thanks for undertaking the experiment.

Sensei, glad the rain had the sense to fall at night and leave you dry in the morning…

boo fae, ah, the joys of home improvement…except when the neighbors do it… Hopefully the job will be completed shortly.

Sticky Buns, I’m not a prayer, but sending positive waves for your husband and your mom, along with appendages crossed. And yeah, the room look better (of course, any picture with a dog in it looks better…)

shoe, but pancakes!!! That has to be worth a modest investment of clothing. (and I see you have reached the same conclusion). I haven’t been to a breakfast place in quite awhile myself, might have to make time for it…

Cervaise, I want you as my travel agent. Some beautiful spots you’ve been visiting.

Taters, nice to be remembered, even nicer when you don’t feel you have to take a job.

Lucky, hooray for the sale, even if it was a bit trying. And car salesmen are all about the dickering…and sometimes jus forget the -ering part. At least it is done and on your terms.

rocky, glad that the eye is coming along nicely, have worn glasses since I was 8 years old, would have no idea what it would be like without them. Happy Zooming!

And that concludes the morning report. Have a good day all, it’s now tidy up the hearing aids and make up the Firday shopping list. Take care.

This is the campground

I’ve heard of that. But I’m glad you sold the car.

I’m tired after the drive back and I had to teach, so I’ll try to catch up tomorrow.

Night.

Fortunately, it’s only once a month. And I got to wave at the RESIST demonstrators who were on an overpass in Bellingham. A cow-orker and I looked to see how far the Account Executive has to drive from and to Camas. Yes, she drives 40 more miles than I do each way; but my cow-orker said, ‘But she doesn’t have to drive through Seattle. And Northgate. And Everett. And Marysville.’ It’s about 50 miles or so from Burien to Smokey Point. Once I get there, I’m an hour away from home (70 more miles).

Forgot to reply to this bit. Good luck on your continued protest! I’m hoping you don’t get arrested, even though it seems increasingly likely as the Dotard Days of Summer wear on and tolerance of protests diminishes. I hope the guards continue to look out for you, as well. I don’t know how much they could intervene in the event of an attempted arrest, but I’m hoping they’ll at least vouch for you. Where else are they gonna get their rolled tacos from?

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Awaiting my dryer today, plus maintenance should be here shortly to take care of a fridge issue. I’ll work on unpacking all day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My pleasure. I don’t mind the fact that it tastes like whole wheat at all, as I do like whole wheat, but considering it’s priced the same as a regular loaf of whole wheat but is a smaller loaf, it just isn’t worth it.

Oh … oh my. That is gorgeous. The kind of place I’d just want to sit out on a patio with a coffee and just take in the evening air.
