(Old) It's A Brand New MMP

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Now it’s my Firday.

Well, back then “in building code” meant it hadn’t burned down yet.

Maybe that was it. :tropical_drink: :bear:

Holy crap, did I forget your birthday?!? HIPPO BURPDAY, and I’m glad you got to spend it so happily.

That sounds amazing; I’d love it!

I’m toddling off to bed - Mr. Sandman just visited, and he hit hard tonight.

Wishing everyone good health, pleasant dreams, and a minimum of family- and work-related drama.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 and N.O.S. As I post, there is a beast roast in the slow cooker for tonight’s sup. That, rutabagas, a hominy and corn casserols, little N.O.T., baby carrots, and rolls shall be the bill of fare. Outside of that 'twill be a day of high RDOS inactivities. My DAWGS don’t play today, but kolledge football will be watched, cause it’s a Sattidy in Fall and that’s what one does in these parts.

doggio some of my relatives have no sense of personal space and will wander around sniffin’ folk. Sorry 'bout that.

JtC it’s hard to tell where one cat ends and another cat starts in that pic. Soooooo cute!

And now a belated this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BBBIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BBBIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BBBIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR NNNEEETTTTTTIIIEEE!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BBBIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

ITYM “Nellie”, O Elder Ursine. Mine was last month.

She’s been worried about the stairs since we bought the house 20 years ago. She wants us to move our laundry upstairs - despite me pointing out that the previous owners were in their 80s and still managed, and my mom is 90 and she can go up and down without help. In all things, if she can’t manage it, she projects. You’d think by now I’d have learned to smile and nod and move on.

One of the houses my FIL built had a bookcase/door that led into the attic - we all thought that was the coolest thing evah!!

Lucky you - I was up past midnight again, dammit. It was noisy outside - I suspect it was either acorns falling on the metal roof of the shop or critters wandering about or both. At one point, I got up and turned on the backyard floodlights - nothing out of the ordinary, so I don’t know.

We’re up and moving because we need to leave the house around 8:15, swing by the credit union for some cash, then head to the fairgrounds to get there around 9 when the gates open. It’s wonderfully cool, which means MIL will be freezing. We need to make sure she’s got layers - the high will be low 80s. I’m in shorts and I’m bracing for “Aren’t you cold??” that I get almost daily. OK, no more of that whining. I’ll be good… as much as I can.

Daughter wanted to go early so they could get the kids’ faces painted before the line got stupid long. Then we’ll hit the animal pavilions. Then, who knows. I’m pretty sure she’ll be bringing me home - MIL tires so quickly, and the fresh air is sure to kick her butt.

Just got an email from the Dept of Trans - time to renew the tag on our trailer. Meanwhile the sticker from the last renewal (2 years ago) is still sitting in a bowl. We don’t use the trailer much… I also got an email saying that our ballots are on the way. So more adulting in the offing.

OK, time to drug and feed MIL. Happy Saturday!!

Morning all. As usual I set the alarm and as usual I was awake and up before it went off. Have broken fast and now need to dress for soccer coaching and refereeing, 67F right now but heading to 93F, so another hot one.

Happy Birthday Nettie!! Glad you could spend it with your daughter.

And no time to expound further, need to pull on the long socks and get ready to do my soccer stuff. Take care all.

You too? Nellie’s the birthday girl this month, mine was in August.

@nelliebly

Good morning!

It’s 46F and mostly clear outside. In the afternoon, the clouds will give way to sunny skies, and our high temperature is expected to be around 72F.

Belated birthday wishes, Nellie! I’m happy you got to enjoy your special day.

FCM, some people are naturally nosy. My mother is one of those people who doesn’t understand that some people are private about certain things. She also can’t resist sharing her opinion on everything, wanted or not. She’s always been this way.

I didn’t get a whole lot done yesterday. My husband took care of grocery shopping, and upon his return, I went out and procured food for the pups and Tide laundry pods. Then, I went down the road to Home Goods to see if I could locate an excellent closed cabinet for the entryway in which to store shoes. I couldn’t find a suitable cabinet so that the search will continue. Also, purchasing Tide pods at the grocery store is a complete pain in the ass. They are locked up, and you must find someone to unlock the cabinet. I wasted 10 minutes trying to find someone, and when I did, she said I needed to tell the cashier upon checking out. I told the cashier, and he had to shut down the line to get the pods. When I told him what the other employee said, he told me the red-vested employees should get them. All in all, a complete pain. They were on sale, and while I can order them from Amazon, they are more expensive when I do that.

I’m going walking this morning with a co-worker. She will pick me up, which is nice, but I would have just met her and told her so. However, she’s got an appointment near my place, so she wants to pick me up. It’ll be nice to get a little exercise in and be outside. It will be close to noon when she picks me up, so the trail will be more peopley, but since she has an appointment prior, that can’t be helped. I prefer going early in the morning because fewer people are on the trail, and it’s quieter, so I can hear the birdsong and see some of the wildlife.

When I get home, I’ll complete some chores around the house. I might just knock out the laundry too, so I don’t have anything to do tomorrow.

Well, I need to hop in the shower. I hope you all have a good day.

Please be careful. Hopping in the shower is only safe if you have a shower mat.

I’ve had a headache and stuffy ears for 3 days due to this dang hot weather. Today’s forecast is 90 but rain coming overnight and 70 tomorrow. I’m staying home today and being a RDOS. Last night my sis and I decided I am going to L.A. for Thanksgiving but I am not staying with them. My Parkinson BIL is developing sundowners syndrome and sis says evenings/night can be unpleasant. Fine with me, I was planning to get an Air B&B anyway.

Happy belated birthday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a lot on the list today, so sloth will likely happen.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Belated Happy Birthday, nelliebly, nelliebly!
Belated Happy Birthday, charming nellie.
I hope you had a day
Where all things went your way!
Now you’ll have to wait a whole year for another.

Belated happy birthday, Nellie!! :birthday:

Morning, all! It’s 70°F and mostly sunny with an expected high of 83, and even though it’s slightly on the humid side – rain is expected this evening – the breeze is helping it be nice enough to have the windows open this morning. I’ll take “windows open” mornings for as long as I can get them! Bailey might get used to this, though, and be disappointed when it starts being too cold in the mornings. Heh.

Yesterday I did wind up re-watching WarGames (1983). While doing so I read all of its IMDb trivia, and discovered two cool things: (a) John Wood, who played Professor Falken, also played the Bishop in Ladyhawke (1985) (which we were talking about yesterday!); and (b) the writers also wrote one of my all-time-favorite movies, Sneakers (1992).

WarGames led to wanting to re-watch The Manhattan Project (1986): I couldn’t find it on any streaming service (without ads; I can handle Tubi/Freevee for TV shows, but not movies), so I bought it from iTunes. I still have the DVD of it that I bought many moons ago, and I could have hooked up my portable Blu-ray player, but I decided that I like the movie enough to buy the digital version. Ladyhawke is similarly streaming-challenged, but I don’t have that one on DVD – and, even though I like it, I don’t know if I like it enough to buy it. Maybe at some point I’ll see how much iTunes wants for it; I know I’m not willing to pay as much as I did for The Manhattan Project ($15).

I’m currently waiting to learn what my lunch plans will be. Tentatively, my BFFs will be picking me up in a couple of hours and taking me out – but Wife BFF is still struggling with some health things, so there’s a chance she won’t feel up to it. I’ll get a text from her at some point in the next 90 minutes, either cancelling or saying that she and Husband BFF are on their way here. Plan B is leftover pizza (which I ordered last night) and Legos, so either way I’ll have a good birthday lunch. When I ordered the pizza I also got a brownie, which will be my birthday dessert this evening.

After lunch, I have no plans except for finishing the Lego Star Wars landspeeder. I only have 4 bags to go, and most of the landspeeder itself is done (the majority of what’s left is its stand), so I’ll definitely finish it today. And, I figured out where I’m going to put it: rearranging Lego Corner will be fairly simple but will require another acrylic shelf (like the one I’m using for the cars) – which is being delivered today. An updated photo will, of course, be posted tomorrow.

I’ve been trying to picture how that would even happen! I used to frequent the McD’s drive-through with Bailey in the passenger seat: for someone to hand her a treat directly, either they’d need to have super stretchy arms (to reach out the window and past me) or the dog would have to be in my lap…are those pups in back seats or something?

Funny, I had to read that twice because to me “plates” and “tags” mean the same thing…I believe you misspelled “stickers.” :stuck_out_tongue:

Very cool!!

Ha! :joy:

At the CVS near me they’re (mostly) locked up, but luckily they aren’t at either of my local grocery stores. That would, indeed, be a complete pain in the ass!

Back from the store (aka Da Jewels if you are from Chicago). Munching on pimento cheese and pita crackers. Store bought pimento cheese. Don’t judge!

Yup.

Oh, go away Discord rules.

I do that all the time. Sometimes it’s Ritz crackers, sometimes Trader Joe’s multigrain crackers. I first got our swampybear’s approval on the brand of store bought pimento cheese my store carries. I stopped buying Hellman’s mayonnaise while I was at it and switched over to Duke’s, even though here on the drought-ridden windswept prairies Duke’s is top shelf priced.

No half measures, right? Next thing you know I’ll start calling everybody “sugar” and saying “bless your heart”.

I’m still gonna buy frozen biscuits, though, so clutch your pearls if you must.

Lazy Saturday after frog bread for breakfast. Had some cool clouds this morning, some thunderboomers and a bit of rain.

Driving out to the store the other day, I happened to go past what used to be our go-to pizza joint, which has been closed for nearly a year. Their website said “temporarily closed”, but after that long I figured they went out of business. To my shock there was a sign on the window saying they are reopening on the 29th! I nearly drove off the road. I hope the quality stays high.

Still doing get out the vote postcards. I think we have about 50 more to do. Most are going to Michigan and Nevada and get mailed next month. Then the waiting begins.

Currently in the middle of a packing hellscape. Going to Ireland Monday morning with only a carry on and a purse like thing so packing needs to be thoughtful.

Not feeling very thoughtful at the moment.

Have nose juice spray and three shirts packed.

Staring at computer screen in catatonic stupor lol.

I concur on both points.
Happy Belated, Nellie!!

And a Happy Birthday to you, too!!

Today we’re working on a concerted effort to start declutterring the house. If I do end up working from home at a ‘real’ job, then it will certainly help me to feel better. I have an interview for an online teaching position, full-time, on Monday.

Yesterday went better than expected. I have a friend whose mom had passed away recently and I was able to stop, briefly, at the calling hours before I went to visit my other friend. My friend in hospice is actually greatly improved, mentally, since my other two friends had seen her last. We actually stayed and visited for almost 1 1/2 hours and she was awake, alert, and coherent the whole time. Afterwards, my other two friends and I went out to lunch at a chicken house and it was just ok, but it was so nice being able to hang with them.
