Way early ‘dinner’ today. Got to Paso del Norte at 14:45. We were home by 16 o’clock – just in time to give the kitties their gooshy food. I had a grande Cadillac margarita at the restaurant, and got another one to go. Sipping on it now.
Howdy Y’all! A good time was had by all out at and in the cee-mint pond. Then we had majik intartoobz pizza and sallit. Then they left. Actually they’ve been gone close to four hours, but we’ve been Netflixin’ and chillin’. I think we just needed to sit and do that. OYKW will soon be abed and I may follow shortly. We’re old and we need sleep!
Cookie happy doperversary! I saw the piece of cake by your name.
Evening all. A day that was very slothful, outside of turning on the dishwasher and then putting the clean dishes away virtually no activity was performed by yours truly. I did go outside with the full intention of using my lawn trimmer/edger, but the last time I used it I took the battery pack off for safe keeping and now can’t find the damn thing! So might have a trip to Wal-Mart in my near future. Hit 92F today so the AC has been on pretty constantly, but there is supposed to be tunder-boomers early tomorrow and it’ll only get to 90F…
I think the nesting above my door failed, there hasn’t been movement there that I can see today and parents are nowhere in sight, so I’ll give it until tomorrow then take the nest down–I really need something 1" wide and 40" long that I can stick up there to prevent further nestings. Will have to explore Loew’s some.
quietly, not a cat person but a very cute kitty nonetheless. Enjoy.
FCM, y’all keep an eye on FCD; we Mumpers do think about him.
suzie, hope you’re still doing well (read your other thread). Doesn’t sound serious but I’d still get it checked out.
rocky, glad you beat the rain and got electric back on.
OK, getting near 8pm, so need to make the big decision on where I eat dinner tomorrow. I have a list of places I visit each Sunday I’m home, and the week is “Rat’s Choice”. So maybe look around and try someplace new/different…or not. We’ll see.
Take care all.
I’m tired. Dunno if’n I’ve ever felt this tired before. Have felt like this for a week.
I’m really happy with it so far. It’s supportive. I don’t end up aching and in pain, and I don’t have to roll through dips in the mattress.
Thank you!!

Today I cleaned the dining room, and we watched the first Spiderverse movie. A lazy day I suppose.
I have always lived here in the same old flyover town. I have lived in ten different places. Oddly enough, all ten of them have been less than five miles from Warren Buffet’s (CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and always in the running or the top three or four wealthiest man in the world) house.
The MMP Quilt Show Spin Off is up.
Up from naptime, having a Vieux Carré.

Dunno. Lucretia D. Hellcatt was undersized, yet managed to strike fear in grown humans, beagles, and larger cats… YMMV.
HAPPY DOERVERSARY,Cookie!
Home again. I go in an hour later than usual tomorrow - which is terrific b.c our G.M. is supposed to be there tomorrow and she’s kind of a bitch sometimes.
Oooh, plus I’m “early out” tomorrow (instead of closing like I usually do) so it’ll be a short, easy shift, if I can stay out of G.M.'s way.
… hmmmm, maybe I can get Gentleman Caller to pay me a visit …
New Gal is working out well so far. I gave her a lift home (my manager was like, “There’s no way I’m gonna let you walk home at 2 in the morning.” Mind you, New Gal is at least manager’s age if not older.) and she seems very nice, and she learned quickly tonight.
Time for a smoke, and a snack, and some Monkey-snuggles time.
… I lied, I’m already having a smoke.
that was only 45 minutes or so from me …
Oh, and my Amazon package is delayed. Now they’re saying Sun-Wedn. and already included a chipper note that if it doesn’t arrive by Wedn. to click such-and-such for a refund!
I don’t WANT a refund! I want my damn popsicles!!
{ stomps off, throws toddler style tantrum }
I mentioned to my manager that I had a package supposedly arriving, so wound up taking the very last break, thinking I’d run home then & bring everything in to safety & start freezing my treats. (My manager was even nice enough to tell me that if it hadn’t come yet, she was O.K. with me running home quickly later - which is incredibly generous of her to say.) Taking my “lunch” break at 9:15 p.m. wasn’t fun, but it sure made the rest of the evening shorter!
When I think of how much hair I vacuum up with just one cat - YOIKS!!! That’s one purty kitteh, tho.
I’ll be poking him to arrange for a blood draw tomorrow, since the achies recurred again. This is not good.
We both woke stoopit early today - before 5. He got up to watch TV a bit and I pulled out my tablet. Then he was back in bed within about 30 minutes and I’m about to go back to my tablet, having had PB&J for breakfast. I have a couple of errands to run today but no other plans.
And I trapped the mouse last night - well, not trapped, but it’s caught in the trap… I’ll be tossing it, trap and all, into the trash after I find some gloves, because I’m not touching it. ick. On one hand, I hate that I had to dispatch it thus, but on the other hand, I’m not sharing my house with a rodent and obviously my idiot cat isn’t any help. Here’s hoping there’s just the one.
Sun promised this morning, t-boomers this afternoon. I’ll be erranding this morning.
Happy Sunday!
Heh. Poking him, about a blood draw I see what ya did, there!
Just use a plastic grocery bag, and pick it up with your hand in the bag, doggy-poop style.
This, of course, is the right answer. Thanks!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, wherein I have Acolyte (or in my case Slackolyte) duty. Afterward it will be home to da cave for a sammich N.O.L. sloth and nappage. We shall actually make sup, which shall consist of grilled poke chops, corn on the cob (except I will cut mine off the cob), baked spareguts, and rolls. Sounds like a nice Summer eve sup to me.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
I was too tired to eat anything substantial last night, so I woke stoopit early & far too hungry to go back to sleep.
So I decided to treat myself to a McD breakfast bagel (don’t judge!) and spontaneously decided to try a frappe. Never had one before - it’s waiting for me in the fridge b.c. imma go the hell back to bed after I finish this bagel.
I hope I remember it before work!
ETA: looks like it rained sometime between 3 a.m. and now (7:30) cuz everything is all wet out there.
I know you all needed to know that!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 26c/78f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “You might that the one cloud looks like a fish. I think it looks like a fucking douchebag”. There’s very little breeze, and only a 20% chance of rain showers. A couple of my friends further south have thunderstorms and I am very jealous.
I’ve finally managed to catch up with all your doings, my last few days have been very busy, eventful and exhausting. Last week was all about our Board of Examiners meetings where we have a bunch of our academic staff and external examiners meeting to agree end-of-year results for all our students. Without boring your socks off, the pandemic has left a legacy of students whose results are either complete, incomplete, partially ignored or plain confusing. Very few at the moment are straightforward, so once I’ve worked out which of the four different sets of regulations apply to their degree calculations, I push the button, run the reports, have them scrutinised by the dept’s Assessment and Progression Leads, and then put them on our virtual learning site for everyone to look through. Four Board meetings happened this week, with their associated pre-Board scrutiny, I was officiating at three of them…two of them were fairly calm, one was pretty brutal and the last one was contentious to say the least. We have agreements on everything, but now we have to deal with our first and second year students as they will need to go through the same process. No wonder I’s knackered!
Yesterday was a fun day out with the girls in Manchester, six of us met up for no other reason than we wanted to. We did an escape hunt in the city, based on Alice in Wonderland, so we were walking around with an ipad and picnic basket full of clues. Much hilarity ensued!
Afterwards, we went to Annie’s for afternoon tea which was very much needed after the excitement of the game. It was good to catch up with everyone and have a day away from the usual stuff. I had to get two trains back home again due to engineering works on the lines in my area, so didn’t make it back until nearly 9pm. I sent a message to 'im indoors, he came into town and met me in our favourite pub, the Posada - still warm enough to sit outside in their enclosed yard but that means you get all the noise from the Paddyoke going on over the road at McGhees Irish Bar.
Got home at 2am, tea and toast, put the aircon on in the bedroom and retired for the night. Up this morning to feed the cats, sort out litter trays and drink tea. I ran the little rollsuck upstairs since Cherry had decided that the litter in the tray by my desk belonged anywhere but inside the tray, so the rollsuck took care of that. Other than that, I plan an afternoon of slothage. It’s his turn to make dinner so I can retire to the sofa and put my feet up.
Darling, you may have a drinking problem! Not the usual alcoholic sort, but still …
I’m also devoted to tea. I love my loose-leaf strong black teas, but must drink mostly decaf because the old body has decided that caffeine is poison. I’ve had my allowed pinch of real Irish breakfast in my big mug of mostly decaf tea, and shouldn’t have any more for the rest of the day. Not that I don’t sometimes break my resolve and have a big iced milk tea with boba later in the morning.
We’ve been doing random cleanings-up of various bits of the house that don’t get regularly cleaned, as we’re going to put the house on the market in a month or two. I’ve cleaned:
The plantation shutters in my bedroom. Sheesh what a pain.
Some under-shelves on a butcher-block island that collect greasy dust which took three scrubbings to remove.
Webster’d the entire alcove outside around the front door, then cleaned the door, the porch lamp, and the little windows with Windex. Bleah, dead bugs.
Next up: treat the tile in the shower with De-Scale It and scrape off years of hard water scale that won’t scrub off with steel wool. What a treat! I’ll have to wear protective clothing and eyewear, because De-Scale It is acid. But it’s the only thing that’ll budge that stuff.
