Good morning everyone.
It’s 59F and sunny, and the expected high will be 82F. We may see smoke from the wildfires and have an air quality alert for the next few days. When I came downstairs this morning, it was 46F! I was a little cold since I only wore shorts and a tank top.
I had to take an unexpected road trip to Yakima yesterday for work. So, I was up before 3:00 a.m, out the door at 4:00, and watched the sun rise as I drove over Chinook Pass and in Yakima by close to 6:30 am. I took care of business there and was back on the road toward home by 9:30 a.m. I stopped in Naches at fruit stand and bought freshly picked Freestone peaches, plums, and Walla Walla Sweet onions. A fire was going on the ridge just east of there, and hillsides were well on the way to a blackened state. Emergency vehicles were racing to get there, and another fire was on the ridge behind Naches.
Anyway, I returned to the road and had the space in front of me for most of the trip through the pass and Mt Rainer Nat’l park. Sadly, there was a dead doe on the side of the road that wasn’t there when I drove past in the morning, and I hope there wasn’t a fawn waiting for it’s mama somewhere.
I was back home by 11:30 a.m., and logged back into my work computer to take care of a bunch of last-minute stuff that no one had pushed out during my absence.
One of the taskers was two delegations of authority letters to be created and signed by the director. The letters delegated me as the Property Management Officer and the Deputy as the Accountable Property Management Officer. The MPA could have easily handled this, but she sent me an email saying it was due yesterday. So, I jumped through my ass, found our official letterhead template, created the letters, sent them to the director to sign, and sent the signed letters to the national office. The MPA should have done this. I’m over it. It wasn’t exactly time-consuming, probably 20 minutes to a half hour, all told, but it was just one more thing due yesterday that could be taken care of the day it arrived, which was the 3rd of August while I was on vacation. Just effing stupid. Simple taskers like that should be taken care of immediately. I plan to talk to the deputy about it. I am pretty anal about deadlines and prefer to be early, so not everything is a G-D fire drill. It’s inefficient to react last minute to stuff that can be dealt with early and is a pet peeve.
I logged out of my work computer at 1530 hours, so all told a twelve-and-a-half-hour day with no stop for lunch, since I spent five minutes a fruit stand picking up fruit.
nellie, I’m so glad the surgery went well. I hope your recovery is smooth.
sari, I would be beyond livid, but I am also skeptical of your nieces’ planned visit. What “timing”. Be very cautious. Just my two cents.
wordy, I send continued hugs.
peedin, yay for new flooring! I will live vicariously through you, because I would LOVE all new flooring.
I need to get to WBU today to get more bird seed,. I’m out of one blend completely and running low on the other blend I use. My feeders were empty this morning too, so it’s a must-do for today.
I need to get the lawn mowed and posies watered and should run the roll-suck around the house. I see Polar drifts.
Take care, everyone.
