(Old) It's still dark MMP

Happy Sunday!

I’m tired.
Taking a break before I finish the last bit of straightening up before the nieces get here.
I told my niece that my lawyer said not to do anything until her lawyer weighs in.
They still want to come to visit, so be it.

Cookie, my ex-bil had hemochromatosis. I don’t know why it is so often missed as a diagnosis. He never mentioned having to change his diet, but he had to have blood taken on a regular basis.

Nellie, I’m sorry it hurts so bad. My park friend who just had his knee replaced is a big, burly guy and he said PT made him want to cry.
Dr Pimple Popper is nothing compared to some of the videos on YouTube.

Congrats Lily

I have never had a bad fly problem, except once we had drain flies? Fungus gnats? They came in when I brought my plants back inside for winter.
I have had an infestation of prey mantis and lady bugs.
I didn’t mind the lady bugs so much, but they were everywhere.

I think a lot of people went to resorts this weekend because in a lot of places school starts tomorrow. My friend went to Kent Island to visit family this weekend, and she said the closer she got to the Bay Bridge the heavier the traffic was. Also, when she was leaving, east bound traffic on 70 was light, but west bound was barely moving.
That may be why your shop was slow Shoe

MetalMouse, I will have to ask about that. Actually, I have no idea what is and isn’t under warranty.
I guess I should look it up. I’ve had the truck for almost 4 years, so anything that runs out after three years is probably not covered. But then you have the stuff that is covered for 5 years. It only has about 19,000 miles, and I don’t know if that matters or time matters.
I never do, but probably should, read all that shit when I buy a car.
I’ll try the new private window thing and see if it irks.

I do not have the energy to keep up with a 3 year old. I don’t even want to try.
I don’t know how Pilot and FCM do it.
Both of you make me feel tired just reading what you do.

Congrats on new position Red

It was nice of you to find homes for the kitties Herald It’s not an easy task.

If you all could weigh in, Top Loader or Front Loader, pros and cons.

peeks in

Hello?

steps in more fully, looking a little sheepish

I’m still alive. I’ll admit that I didn’t have the brain power to read most of the thread. That will teach me to wait until Sunday to get caught up.

Things in the pond have been fairly busy. The kids started back to school on the 8th. CtE is still having a bit of trouble with their anxiety, but in a way they got a gods schedule for keeping them in school for the full day. All their difficult classes/classes they don’t care quite as much about are in the morning - AP Calc, Economics, English 12 Honors. Then they have chorus followed by study hall followed by PE (which is an easy A because it’s just “show up and don’t be a jerk”) and, finally AP Music Theory. They’re loving their Music Theory class in part because there are only 5 students in the class. So, wanting to make sure not to do badly in that class, they’re trying hard to stay in class. I’m good with whatever keeps them in school.

BtY is having a few issues because of not wanting to speak up for himself when he runs into a problem. He also is giving us problems with homework. Between us and his EE teacher, we’re working on getting him past these problems.

I’m still having a hard time believing I have a freshman and a senior.

I’m still having more problems with my wrists. I’ve been typing less, wearing my braces and, while it’s not getting any better, it’s not getting any worse. I have an appointment with the hand doctor next month, so we’ll see what they say. I suspect I’ll be having surgery though.

Otherwise, things are going fairly well. I’m trying to get back into my self-care/self-positivity like writing my poetry and setting up my schedule to help keep me on track. One of the local poly groups that I’m part of has started a regular D&D campaign that both Hubby and I have joined in on. We’ve had one session already and the next one is happening next Sunday. I’ve also met a couple different potential partners locally that I’ve been enjoying getting to know. I’ve met them both and I’m looking forward to spending more time with each of them.

Hubby and I have instituted a Friday Night Date Night with occasional Tuesday Date nights. We haven’t had the money to go out for date night, so we’ve been spending time home watching shows or playing board games. The important part is making sure we stay connected and this is helping us do so.

I’m hoping to be back a bit more regularly starting this week. Because interacting here is just as important to my mental health as all the rest of it. Because y’all are just so positive and uplifting that you help keep me balanced.

Good gods. When I was a kid, the first day of school was always the day after Labor Day.

Same here.

SCAdian and Seanette, it was like that when I was school up north. But in the south, I’ve found that they start earlier. My high school in Florida started about mid-August. As long as my kids have been here, they’ve been starting either the first day or the first week of August. But, they’re done before Memorial Day too.

School always started after Labor Day for us.
Now it starts the week before.
But the kids have so many days off that we didn’t have. One year I think it was 8 weeks before my son had a normal 5-day week of school.

I remember my cousins in WV started a week earlier than us. That was so they could have time off during hunting season.

I think only NIece1 is coming, and she got a late start.
I’m hungry, but she should be here in about 15 minutes. I should wait and see if she wants lunch, or to go get lunch.

Schools started here in N. Ali-bama on 3 August, which seems ridiculous (like most of the other folks responding, I always started after Labor Day), but they do take a full week the first week in October off for ‘Fall Break’ and another week in the Spring, so I guess it all adds up.

Real Fish, good to see you again. Glad to hear the boys are adjusting fairly well, I expect there will be bumps in that road, but I’m sure you’ll get through them. And good luck with the wrists; type only as much as you can. And…

I’m really wondering if you realized what you said… :astonished: :astonished:

Cookie, at least Nephew is now getting the help he needs; doesn’t excuse the earlier three years, but at least he didn’t quit trying and finally found a guy who knew things.

Taters, nope some of that Hurricane rain makes it to your area, sounds like you can use it. Take care.

Fettuccine, salad and breadsticks are happily assimilating in my belly. May head over to the gym here in a little bit and pedal some of those calories off…or maybe take a nap, whichever one appeals to me. Could not find a Sunday NY TImes at any of several stores I tried, so may have to look into a subscription to get my ‘print fix’.

Onward!

That makes me so angry. As counselors, we’re trained to have people medically evaluated, but medical folks sometimes jump quickly to “it’s in your head” rather than “I don’t know.”

I doubt it, having been abused by all the students. They’ve been recycled - not my problem.

Anyway, home. I’m just about done organizing the files in the cabinet. Most of them are from the 80s and 90s, and a few from early 2000s. There are some in another cabinet going back to the early 1900s when the school was founded. Not sure why they’re keeping them. There are 4 banker boxes of files that I suspect are from the 60s and 70s - I think those need to be archived (actually, I think they need to be tossed, but not my call.) I’ll talk to Daughter tomorrow about them.

The rest of today is for chillage. We did soup and salad at Olive Garden so we’ll graze for supper, if we have the inclination. Right now, I just want to relax a bit. I’s tahred!!!

PT can be painful nellie, but it’s painful later if you don’t do it. Hugs to get you through the pain.

Good to see you back fishy.

I got three samples of the wedding invitations sketched out and made today. Now they’ve been scanned and sent to the wedding planner to present as the couple’s options (and yes, there is an e-watermark on the samples so’s they know that I am the creator). We’ll see which one that they choose. I’m kind of hoping for the one I liked to make best.

Nelson’s had his bath and I’ve et Sunday dinner (Cuban-style beef and veggie soup). Now I have a little (clean) reddish doggy curled up in my arms. <3

I guess that hike on the tidal flats yesterday took a toll. I did my usual route today, and only averaged 2.97 mph.

To all of those undergoing pain, including nellie and sari, please, this is the place to come. Nobody is going to judge, and releasing the stress will likely help speed recovery.

Topeka has had a couple of record hot days, but thank God they have been dry, not humid as well.

Don’t just peek TruePisces, come all the way in.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then I had my meetin’. I got a text from OYKW sayin’ he was pickin’ up a pizza at Domino’s as he had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for pizza and Domino’s is the easiest place to get in and out of from the church house. So, I had pizza for N.O.L. when I got home from the meetin’. YAY! Nappage got achieved and now we sloth. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow, and steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’ for tomorrow night. All’s well in swampland.

FCM I was going to ask if the Chromebooks could possibly be donated to a school where the students don’t have any tablets but I see you said they’ve been abused. Oh well.

Never got motivated enough to go swim yesterday.
Lectored at 8am mass this morning. Made omelettes with orange and red bell peppers, green onion, chives, parsley, sliced tomato and cheddar and pepper jack cheese with side of leftover steak from last nights dinner.
Hairdresser came over to house and cut Hubs hair and colored mine. I had her put a French braid in. Normally I have her do that when I’m going on a hiking trip but I thought it would be cooler for the week ahead.
Have been watching golf this afternoon. My fav, Jordan Speith, did not have a very good weekend and may be out of the FedEx Cup championship to be played next weekend. They only take the top 30 golfers by points and right now Jordan is 31 or maybe 32 in points. Shucks.
I’m going to go workout now then we’ll have chicken tacos for dinner so see you in the next MMP.

Plus these were donated to this school - not sure by whom, maybe a county grant? I don’t know.

I finally got around to cleaning the critter fountain. Thinking I may have a bowl of cereal for supper. or toast. Or something.

His father was never diagnosed. He just wasted away over a ten year period. It’s only since my nephew has been diagnosed that the lightbulb came on that his father also had it. Same symptoms, but worse.

We had a snacky breakfast at home, a jaunt to the cee-mint pond downstairs so kidlet could run and splash, then upstairs for reading and Elmo-ing. Out to lunch at a pan-Asian-or-something place where the 3yo spread sauceless veggie lo mein far and wide. She even ate some. I had a brunch item of shredded roast duck, home fries, sautéed Chinese veg, and over-medium eggs in a skillet. 'Twas good.

Back home nappage ensued for 3yo and me, the ladies yakked & read, while outside it gently rained. Rain naps are the best by far.

Now everyone is awake and 3yo is once again developing the crankies. Eventually we’ll make a dinner plan after which Daughter will reassemble their van-load of child support equipment for the 15-ish mile trek home.

Cookie: Damn that’s a rough one. Some diseases are just a bear to diagnose and it’s waaay too easy for the diagnosis trail to head off the wrong way early and never be re-examined from scratch. I’d like to think the medical industry is getting better about it, but I’m not sure that’s true.

Excessive heat warning here. I woke up with a migraine. Fed Ursala Kitteh, had coffe, then back to bed. Breakfast at 11, then went to check on Ariel. She got a cool bath. I’m at home drinking Diet Dr Pepper and NOT USING A COASTER. Coasters are packed away for the flooring installation in a day when the temp will reach 100.

I keep telling him to move out of Alaska to where medical help is more competent. His mother’s doctor was a quack who ultimately caused her death. I urged his father to sue her ass into bankruptcy, but all he did was mumble some stupid macho thing that he would never follow through on, and she’s still practicing (in the literal sense).

Evening, all!

My BFF and I had a successful — if $$$ — shopping trip. She doesn’t drive, so her son dropped her off at my house and then I took us to the mall (2 miles away). I needed shoes and shapewear for the upcoming family wedding, so I wore the dress I bought for it; both to make sure that whatever I got would work with it, but also to test its comfort after wearing it for a few hours (verdict: yay!). I found both things much quicker than either of us expected…but, after getting the beige-ish shoes I realized that all of my purses are black. And, because I’m weak, instead of just going to Target or Kohl’s like a normal person I wound up with a pricey designer number. (I don’t really have the purse gene, but it’s hard to deny the right one when you see it!) Then my friend wanted to “just look” in our favorite clothing store, and I wound up buying a dress. Even I have to admit that it looks pretty good on me! It’s only the third dress I own: it’s nice without being fancy, and I even have a fundraiser luncheon coming up that I can wear it to. So I’ll cry a little when I see my new credit card balance, but I’m happy with everything and it was really nice to spend some quality time with my friend; it’s rare for it to be just the two of us (luckily, her husband is my other BFF and their son is my “nephew”).

After the shopping we needed to eat, but she has mobility issues and was worn out so on the way back to her place I ran into Chipotle for both of us. We wound up not eating lunch until around 3:30pm. I just had a protein shake for dinner, and am about to make popcorn.

I’ll be seeing the three of them again tomorrow evening: her birthday is on Tuesday, but her son has classes that evening so her birthday dinner will be tomorrow (at her place). One of her nieces recently moved to DC, and will joining us; I’m looking forward to meeting her.

For now, though, I’m looking forward to quality time on the couch with Bailey, popcorn, and some White Collar.

Catch everyone in the new thread (at some point)!

Congratulations! :tada: That’s all so great!
