(Old) It's the heat AND the humidity in the MMP!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 20c/68f with no predicted change today, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Sometimes, just when you think the sun is going to come out, life give you a fucking anal probe.” I can see patches of blue sky amongst the mostly-grey clouds but I have no need to be outside so it can be sunny or wet, will not bother me at all.

hippie that is an awful story, I agree that grief counselling could really help there.

{{{{{Sunny}}}}}

Cookie I hope the change in meds works for you and you’re soon feeling better.

Moooom same goes for FCD, hopefully stopping the meds and drinking more water will help clear up the rash too.

Nothing much planned for my day, I was busy yesterday so today will largely be devoted to slothage. I should change the bedding and wash the sheets, I should also vacuum the floors but I don’t feel like it so I am not going to bother. We shall live in a slovenly mess for a bit longer, and I doubt anyone will care. And if 'im indoors cares enough about it, he can do it himself

Happy Last-day-of-the-thread day!

Went to bed too late again so slept in a bit too much to want to beach first thing. I gotta fix that. Instead I’m balconating w y’all while coffee has been made successfully and mostly imbibed.

Presently 80F/27C on the way to 95/36. Distinctly humid and not quite still. There is a thin layer of mid-altitude clouds providing shade which is nice. I’m quite happy with the weather, but most folks would say it’ll be a bit much later today. I’m not a fan (heh) of the whole “heat index” concept, but NWS is advertising that’ll hit 107/42.

My day promises to be mostly slothage with a chance of groccing. I’m about due for a haircut & might arrange that too. I am on-call today-Wed, but I will skate today for sure and the omens are favorable to probably skate most of the irk-week. That’s a consequence of having irked more than my share last week.

Her Ladyship’s daughter and her adopted daughter (our granddaughter) will be staying with us from Wed-Sun. Daughter’s getting her annual vacation from fostering. Some other foster parent will manage her household of 4 or 5 foster kids while she’s gone.

This promises to be both fun and “interesting” in the Chinese sense. I will need to be the right amount of involved and scarce. Can’t snub anyone, but must allow the right amount of Mother-Daughter exclusive time. At least I know I won’t ever be given kid-watching duties while the two women go galivanting; none of the three of them would ever countenance such an outré thing as a man watching a child.

Our apartment is in no sense kid-proofed, but at least we don’t have lots of breakable bric-a-brac out. Our place is plenty spacious for the two of us, but adding daughter and especially the somewhat fussy 3yo kidlet will definitely be a houseful. Perhaps I can snag some overtime and blame irk for my absence at least some days. We shall see.

Cheers!

This isn’t grave enough to warrant an entry in mini-rants, it’s just baffling. So, here’s the thing … this last year there were a few break-in’s in the parking garage for my building - my car included (I had my dash cam stolen). As a result they decided to heighten security in the dumbest way possible.

Here’s how the garage works: you got the Mezzanine - which is actually street level to the building - then you go down to get to levels one and two, which are public, and three which is private, Apparently people were parking in the public garages and taking the elevator down to the private lot to do their nefarious deeds. The building management’s solution is to put a lock on the door (for which we all already had a key that works in it) … that locks from the inside of the private level. There’s a door out to the street next to the car entrance that is not locked - or rather is only locked from the outside. Anyone who wants to pull off that complicated heist from days past has had none of their plans thwarted, except now they have to go out a different door once they’ve collected their swag.

Are we following here? No keys are needed anywhere in the parking garage except to get to the elevator from the private level. What the hell am I missing? I’ve talked to a few other tenants about it and the reaction has ranged from, “no shit, huh?” to “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Spot was in a life or death struggle with a balled up receipt. Now he staring out the fogged up sliding glass patio door, and wondering why the fuds look blurry today.

Yep. They need to reverse the elevator lock.

That’s the thing, there’s no locking mechanism on that side of the door - just not how it’s designed - so I think they just went, “I know, we’ll lock the door, that’ll solve everything!” without thinking it through.

Can you communicate directly to these idjits? Perhaps this is phase 1 of 3, and they’re awaiting parts to install a lock on the elevator controls so you need a key to get to the private floor.

Mornin’ everyone.

I actually slept in; I must have been tired. I’m somewhat irritated because I lost precious “official” goof-off time.

It’s a sunny 58F outside with an expected high of 82 and sunshine all day.

I was busy yesterday and still didn’t get what I wanted/needed most. The pavers I was going to buy were gone. Lowes, Home Depot, and my favorite nursery didn’t have much in the way of plants, although I did buy a beautiful white, with a very slight tinge of pink on some petals hydrangea from the nursery. I also found a couple of plant caddies and a beautiful blue planting pot which looks amazing with the hydrangea. It’ll be fine in there for a while before I have to replant it.

Today, I go back to Lowes for a barrel planter, more soil and another wooden box planter because I bought the wrong size yesterday.

And, hopefully, I can get some of those pavers from Home Depot. They had some of the 60-pound-a-piece pavers, but they are hard for me to muscle down from the shelf, onto the heavy-duty cart, and back up into my Jeep on my own. That’s just mainly due to their size; they are large and awkward to hold.

On top of running around, there’s planting, laundry, and tidying to take care of. Plus, I need to pack for my trip to Spokane. I only need a pair of slacks, three or four tops in the suitcase, something to sleep in, and toiletries. I’ll wear my jeans on travel days, so hopefully, I can fit everything into my smaller suitcase and call it good. I bought a travel-sized hair dryer and it arrived yesterday, so that should help a little too. I hate using hotel hair dryers. More often than not, there’s fuzz on the opposite end from the nozzle and it just skeeves me out.

Hippy, there are just no words. That is horrifying and tragic. I’m so sorry for everyone impacted by that.

I need to get going. It’s almost 8:00 am and I have much stuff to do! Probably need to get the lawn mowed too.

At Urgent Care - day later than I wanted, but we’re here.

{{{{FCD and FCM}}}}

Down to 206 this morning. That’s still within the range of normal fluctuations; but 208 us less than 210, and 206 is less than 208. I still need to be careful if I want to get out of ‘normal fluctuations’ and into ‘downward trend’. My goal is 185, and it’s taking a long time. I didn’t walk yesterday, so I’ll make an effort to walk every day but Tuesday. Good luck on reaching your goal, Metal Mouse!

Morning all. No rain yet, so may head out and do mowage here in a bit, then eat dinner out this afternoon, when the rain is now due. Temperature is going to be about 84F, so should work up at good sweat. Not much else on the agenda, might do a little shopping and maybe the gym, we’ll see how it goes.

Sari, sorry about your cousin and I would take your friend’s offer and get her/buy her dinner sometime as repayment. And asshole park person needs to start doing his job.

FCM, will have to try that, have my semi-annual Dentist trip this Tuesday so need to remember my brushing. Hope FCD is doing better. Didn’t make the trip North to get a Powerball ticket, but if if’s up over $650 million like lucky says, I might head up to Tennessee before the next drawing so I can lose money too. And just read your last message, hope things go well.

Bats, that’s…management. Hopefully somebody will yank their skull from their rectum and come to a better arrangement.

Ok, it’s late enough in the morning that noone can complain about me doing mowage, so off I go. Take care all.

Full story:

Wow, I thought someone who was that much of a knucklehead would be younger. I’m sorry for all the mayhem.

There are a lot of angry 40yo teenage boys out there.

metalmouse I’m sure the neighbors appreciate your considerateness.

hippie Just can’t understand the thought process of such an individual. Sincere condolences to Steve’s family, friends and loved ones.

FCM Hubs had similar thing happen a month ago and we went to ER. After several different prescriptions, the PCP hit on the one that worked on the rash and itching. But he now has pain in his hand and sometimes arm so he’s on prednisone.

I finally got motivated yesterday and stitched up one of our cloth bags that we use for groceries. Being a tree hugger, it is a very rare time that I use a plastic grocery store bag to bring groceries, etc home. Normally I take about 5 or 6 cloth bags. Needed every one yesterday as it was Saturday so I bought quite a big since should have been double gas points. However, when I got home and looked at the receipt, they only gave me single points. HECK! We do have the double gas points coupon downloaded. Asked Hubs to call, we’ll see how that goes.

Filtered 3-1/2 gallons of water this morning, made omelette and warmed up a leftover sausage. Went to mass. Now we’re getting ready to go to the Fitness Center. Pretty darn muggy today.

I’m sorry FCD needs the ED, and glad he agreed to go. Best wishes, and keep us updated!

Between hot flashes, nausea, and cat-on-legs, I didn’t sleep well. New dining table and chairs have been delivered already; handyperson coming soon to do a variety of accumulated tasks, such as repairing garage drywall, installing a new ceiling fixture, straightening the vapor barrier, and replacing boards on a gate. I’ll finish disassembling a shelving unit, shred some HIPAA-protected papers, and do some vacuuming in anticipation of my lovely wife’s surgery.

Diagnosis - reaction to meds. He got a new scrip and was told to take Benadryl and drink lots of water. I picked up the new meds and am off to get Ben.

Then I need to get my left front tire plugged. It has a slow leak. Dammit.

Always something…

I had a helluva night last night, came home to chill down with the Mumpers, and instead found literal murder & mayhem.

Someone remind me in next MMP to brag, cuz I’m learning to do a thing that I swore to my manager I’d never feel comfortable doing - and will be doing again today, and next shift on Tues., so that I can gain experience - but I have only a few paltry minutes before I gotta go do it all again, and meanwhile, holy :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: there’s been a lot of bad & sad 'round here, and I am so sorry, but I gotta run.

ETA: I asked to do the thing; it was absolutely not forced on me. I was having a good mental health day and in a moment of courage (?) said, “Yanno what? I bet I can do that. Go, take your potty break. I got this.”

Narrator: { five seconds later } W.T.F. was she thinking?

Stopped at 3 tire places - one was closed, 2 were really busy and short-handed, so the tire will have to wait till tomorrow. But I picked up the new meds, had lunch, delivered some 'maters to Daughter, then got some generic Ben at WalMart. Name brand - $13.86/100 tablets. Generic - $8.56 for 365 tablets. Checked the ingredients - identical. Easy decision.

FCD is abed - no surprise, considering what a crappy night he had. He asked me to change the sheets because his fever broke last night, leaving his side of the bed somewhat soggy. So between clean sheets and Ben, I hope he’s having a good snooze.

Quiet time for me then. Yay!

Well, you going to tell us eventually what the thing was, or are we supposed to guess?    (My guess is tossing pizzas in the air).

FCM, hope the new prescription works. And glad you’re plugging along…

Mowage is complete (4 bags worth) and Big Bowl O’Sallit has been consumed, so in a couple hours I’ll head to the gym and from there to Logan’s Roadhouse for my Meatloaf Dinner.

OK, onward into the day.
