(Old) Late morning for the MMP

Afternoon.

Tis solid cloud up here in the northern wastes, with a bit of scattered rain and feeling chilly. The forecast said it would be patchy sunshine, but it lied. Not that I’ve been out further than the tunnel in the garden today.

At least I actually slept OK last night, which I very much needed.

There is, but it requires me to log in to the internet. I don’t have an account for this device. I may be able to connect it to the wife’s iMac and do it from there, however.

Same thing as yesterday, minus any giant spills. There was a late Air, and an Air late enough it showed up an hour after the drivers left. They were having the Air Drivers deliver the Apple store stuff and the meds and foods, and leaving the rest for tomorrow. Of course there were 2 giant reboxings for Home Depot. Some guy bought 40lbs of steel duct connectors, and they just tossed them in a giant box, and some lady bought 80lbs of potting soil, and they shoveled all that dirt in one box. I stopped at Teeter, and got some Haddock for dinner. I was gonna buy a Canadian heirloom tomato(weird tomatoes need love, too!), but they’ve gone up from$3.49/lbs to $5.99/lbs.

You should have stayed in Florida, and moved under a known cartel flightpath.

At least it’s not beginning bagpipe.

It’s Friday! Weather is hot and unchanged. But it’s the weekend and I have nothing pressing planned, so looking forward to some relaxation and entertaining the cats. I also managed to stub my big toe again yesterday. It had been healing up quite nicely but that got it bleeding and upset again. Seriously, how I can I walk like a functional adult for literally years and then cream the same toe twice in one week?

A lot of Mumpers seem to be feeling under the weather this week. All y’all need to get yourselves feeling better soon (and also, just stay over there until it’s no longer catching, okay?)

This is amazing and I  it

Taters Some of the stores around here are doing that as well and I’ve just stopped shopping there. I’m not going to stand around waiting for 10 minutes for someone to find a dang key so I can buy makeup remover, just ridiculous.

Cookie enjoy the concert! Be nice to do something a little different.

Those would be some serious bazooms.

Well, it looks like it will be a little later than planned. My blood count was low enough that they are going to transfuse me before I get to go. Thank you to all of the blood donating Mumpers(especially you A+ ones)

Considering the piano recitals, choir concerts and band concerts my parents attended, thank you. She’ll appreciate your attendance at some point.

Killing time till we open, so ..

Holy :exploding_head:

You ‘n’ me both.

I’ve been wanting one of Wendy’s square “croissant” breakfast for a while, but I can’t get one when I want one (late in the evening) and I don’t want one when I can get one (that’s my prime sleeping time!) but I happened to be up, and dragged myself out.

Let Monkey out for a sec while I chatted with y’all earlier, had two (2) bites of my sammich - first “real” food I’ve had in days, nutrition be damned - then conked back out.

Okay, we open in five minutes. I have the rest of my sandwich, and a slice of marble cake as a treat. Let the Friday night madness begin!!

I ended up connecting it to the iMac and was able to do a clean wipe. Thanks.

Made it home. I’m worn out, but I’ve got to keep going. Tonight is Future Member Experience for the eigth graders. They’ll get to march into the stadium with the Band, play the stand tunes with them, and then they’ll get to play a couple of songs on the field. It’s always exciting for them.

Tonight is also the debut of the complete show. Like usual, I’ll stay for the show and just long enough to deliver Squeaky’s third quarter snacks, then go home.

I think I’ll go to bed instead of watching YouTube.

The RV show was fun. We met up with Mrs Magill’s “sister from another mister” and her husband. They work together, and have become bedt friends separated by a thousand miles.

We made decisions as to what we want, so we can come next year and change our minds again.

I just picked up some 32 oz iced coffees from our friend’s cafe. Hopefully, that’ll get us through tonight.

TWPTB have put out a flood advisory. Supposedly we could get up to 4 inches of rain between tonight and tomorrow night. I stopped at the Honey Baked Ham store today and bought a pound of ham and a pound of ribs so I am set for hunker downing. Had ribs and a baked tatie for lunch, and ham and CothC for dinner.

Good afternoon everyone!

I reacted to the news that Diaper Donny is going to stop trade with the EU by latest round of tax increases by panicking over needlepoint canvas again. I made plans to drive to the local thread pusher this morning and asked Hubs if he would like to go for the ride. He choose to drive.

When we went past the cheap gas station it was 3.99 and we planned to stop and fill up on the way home. We took a different route this time and saw a bar! (Last year, we realized we didn’t know what bars looked like in WV. We know there must be bars, of course there are bars in WV, but they must be more subdued than on the west side of the country but we couldn’t remember ever seeing one.) When we drove past the bar, both of us said at once “That’s a BAR!”

We are going to go and have a drink next week, we don’t know what WV bars look like inside and MUST know.

We got to the thread sto and found parking right in front, which never happens and Hubs thought he would wait for me there instead of going off and getting coffee somewhere. Silly man. You would think he’d have learned better by now.

I could have been in and out in less than 20 minutes, but I wanted to kit out that pink victorian house I did a while back, but this time I want to do it in purples. Choosing colors and types of threads became a group project, one woman even dragged her husband over to help pick green for the roof.

The original kit used candlewicking floss, but you can’t buy that anymore so I bought a card of wool instead. If I don’t like the coverage, there is a yarn store up on the north side of the state, I can probably get fingering yarn there which should work.

I also bought half their supply of 14 count ecru canvas, half of their supply of white and 6 yards of waste-canvas. I didn’t want to look greedy, or I would have tried to buy it all.

Poor shoe is going to have to learn how to do needlepoint. She agreed to give all of my stuff a good home after I’ve moved on and there is no chance I’ll use all of that canvas before then.

We stopped at our second fav Mexican place for lunch and margaritas, cruised by the Kroger gas station to check the price and then went to the cheap place and said many bad words when we saw that gas had gone up ten cents a gallon. The dang truck was still there!!!

Sounds like George, its super upsetting when one of our jerkfaces is stressing out like that. I’m sorry for you two, I know you would like to take Ollie out for adventures and dawgs usually like going out for adventures.

I hope you had a good lunch with your friend.

I seriously had no idea. I’ve only been interested in the % of dark chocolate, not what’s added to it. Some things I really do not want to know.

I really do hope you are home again soon. I know you like your sis and all, but sometimes sleeping in your own bed helps you recover faster.

I’m glad you are feeling better and happy that you have PTO to use. I’m pretty sure I can speak for your co-workers who don’t want you to come in and share your germs to all and sundry.

Bad, bad, BAD!!! (you never disappoint!)

You rock! I can’t wait to hear what you will be making next.

Howdy Y’all! I did duties and we had a nice brunch at Newk’s. We got free sweet teas today cause they like us. It pays to tip well folks. The rest of the day was spent in the high RDOS sloth as we are wont to do.

shoe glad you feel somewhat better and hope even more so as the day goes on.

MetalMouse those temps I mentioned are for next week. End of next week, actually. Sounds like you got your RDA of pee-kahns today.

red I trust by now you’ve been sprung. I am sure Nelson is beside himself with joy!

Taters really surprised about the no frozen breads at Safeway. I read “soda” fountain at first and thought what an innerestin’ yahd display!

MOOOOOOM hope RoxStar sticks with the cello. It’s a cumbersome but beautiful soundin’ instrument. We use tortillas for rollup sammiches. I also make cheese toast with ‘em sometimes. I have gotten less bombarded this go round re election stuff. Maybe they finally figured out they ain’t gettin’ money from me.

BooFae glad y’all made it home safe and sound and have made peace with the cats. Hope you’re feelin’ well enough to go to the music festival tomorrow.

Mollie glad y’all made it back safe and sound as well. An early bedtime seems like a good idea to me. What a cool experience that will be for the eighth graders!

WetOne that sounds like some good hunker down eatin’. Also Boom Shakalaka is the coolest horse name ever!

Cookie yay for the reset on the old iPad. I do see kids with old ones all the time.

JtC glad y’all found a bar to visit. We occasionally go for a burger and a beer at the little bar just up the road from us. Nice to have a place like that to visit from time to time.

I napped. Spot napped with me. There was some thunder, and it actually rained inside The Raleigh Weather Dome. I’m having a Monte Casino, with Bacon Parmesan haddock, lemon butter orzo, and spinach with olives and garlic. Roomie and my friend C went to Winston Salem to watch the Miami Hurricanes game today, so Spot was alone for a couple of hours. I got an earful(and a half). I expect more tomorrow.

When Furniture Attacks: next, on Fox. Feel better!

Somewhere between standard dive bar and MC biker bar.

I try to bring the fun in dysfunctional.

Evening all and an early Late Night Final. Calories have been sweated at the gym and soccer practiced to sweat some more. The U10 game tomorrow got cancelled, first by the other coach (he can’t make it to the game, out of town) and then by the heat (predicted 96F by the time we were to play at 12:30pm), so will try to reschedule. Came home to my usual Friday Big Bowl O’Sallit. I then masterfully avoided eating any more ice cream, instead went to little bags of the 3-p’s (pretzels, popcorn and pringles) for 300 more calories, so that is done for the evening. Will be turning in early, referee at 8am and coach the 8 year olds at 11am and then I’m done for the day.

And now to see what other adventures have been happening.

FCM, think you were wise, I travel via roomette and feel crowded in there when I’m all by myself. And I head you on the pleas for political money, mine comes mostly by the post office so it is fairly easy to feed them to the shredder.

Welcome Home boo fae. Sounds like you had a nice visit, despite not feeling your best. Glad the cats have forgiven you and enjoy the music this weekend.

Happy IPad wiping, Cookie

52, toes exist for us to abuse them, IMHO. Hope you heal soon.

red, take care.

shoe, you too.

Mollie, welcome home.

wet one, wish we could get some of that rain (the Weather Wizards are saying Monday and Tuesday are our best bets).

JtC, enjoy the bar scene in West Virginny and glad you had a good time shopping.

And that’s all for now. Will leave early for my 8am game tomorrow so will report in when I can. Y’all take care now.

You promptly ate your own supplies?

Lil’ help?

Awww.

What is it, and what’s it for?

The main thing I can think of is that some vegans object to commercial white sugar, because of how it’s processed. Animal bone char is involved.

Note: I am not a vegan, nor do I play one on TV.

True statement. Can’t tell you how many times over the years, at many jobs, where some product we’re officially out of .. well, yanno, maybe an employee knows of a secret stash. :person_shrugging:

That’s one way to bring the hummingbirds around.

Got out at ezzactly 8 p.m. again tonight - fine by me. Might even scrape together enough wherewithal to get the stinky trash outta the house tonight.

For now, though, I’m hanging with y’all while Monkey purrs in his glow-in-the-dark jacket.

He’s so funny when he’s trotting towards me. You know how cats have super-loose shoulders? Coming straight toward me, the jacket goes shake-shake-shake side to side with each step.

It’s cool and faintly breezy outside, although far more humid than I prefer, thankyouverymuch. (“Jeeves, dear, please turn down the humidity outside when you’re done polishing the silver.”) Sprinkled a bit on the way home.

Oh! Speaking of Sprinkles guess who had a birthday celebration today? S.M.'s mom made the cupcakes, and lord knows that girl can plow through sugar, hence the add-ons:

I’ll take a pic of my colors tomorrow, I think you and Sticky will approve

If you want to do needlepoint on something that isn’t needlepoint canvas, you can baste a piece of waste canvas on the purse or whatever. Stitch your project and then wet it with distilled water. Smoke half a joint. Now the threads should be loose enough for you to pull them each canvas thread out and throw away. Come to think about it, Mom used to use it for cross stitch on sweatshirts back in the day.

I had no idea about white sugar, I’ll ask GDIL about it tomorrow. She’s very open about why she won’t eat things, and I have to confess I don’t understand her reasoning about certain things. She has five chickens she bought from an egg factory, they were at the end of their useful life (1 year) and were being sent off for slaughter so they could be turned into petfood.

The chickens looked very humble when she brought them home, hadn’t ever seen the sun and grass was scary. Now they are fat and sleek looking and have started laying eggs again. She won’t eat the eggs. She will cook the eggs for Harry or give them to us, but she says that just because she has rescue chickens, doesn’t mean she should stop protesting how they were bred.

She will eat the honey we can get from the apple farm owners because those bees live on the property and don’t get moved around like commercial bees.

I do admire her convictions so will be sure that I have acceptable chocolate for her.

Thank you for warning me.

More on the shooting in front of Bay Breeze.

Apparently, three Mongols demanded a Bandido remove his patch (hence, attempted robbery charges). Bandido, surrounded, pulls a gun. He’s charged with ADW and reckless endangerment. He’s claiming self-defence.

In other news from our free weekly paper, there are three letters to the editor. The natives are restless.

Yum!

BrightTree thank you re post 62.
Any chance your friend would like to go to the Sr Resources event with you tomorrow? Sounds a lot like our Senior Health & Information Expo yesterday. These are valuable events that well run cities provide for their residents.

Agreed; I didn’t watch Pluribus but I did watch BCS and she is an outstanding actor.

I hear you. There is an Italian Restaurant that is our very favorite. I try to limit our/my visits to no more than 4-5 per year; sometimes less. This year has been one of the most because Hubs & I have been there 2 or 3 times, once with my cousins, once with my former work colleagues and it’s only September. We’ll probably go again in December.

FCM Great job on Tobias’ hair, Grandma.

metal mouse perhaps you might consider telling the girls they can bring in barrettes or smaller hair bows to affix to your beard, maybe the week before it’s dyed.
Also Hubs is down to 8 medications a day. He takes 8 pills after breakfast and 5-1/2 after dinner. I have an excel spreadsheet that keeps track of dosages (some are taken twice a day and one is 2 pills twice a day), how many I put in his pill boxes, how many are left and how many weeks worth are left of each (so that I stay on top of getting refills in advance of when I need to refill the pill boxes). The 4 medications I mentioned earlier are just for heart issues. He also takes 1 for gout, 1 that is anti-viral, 1 for cholesterol and one for calcium deficiency. He was previously taking about 6-8 other medications that he no longer needs. It was a lot. You would remember to take them if it made the difference between quality of life or between living and dying.

Cookie thanks for the link to the potato-leek soup; I’ve saved it and am considering making it for Thanksgiving or maybe Wigilia.

swampy Thank you very much for your support of the NIN.

Knotts very glad that you’re able to hear well in both ears now but that was weird that the audiologist didn’t charge your hearing aid.

red just reading your post from last night so you’ve likely been discharged and at your Sis’ home now. Yay! Glad the docs figured out what was ailing you and prescribed a course of action that brought you back to better health. You don’t need me to tell you but please be sure to drink a lot of water or pedialyte type drinks and not caffeine drinks. Miss your sense of humor and good info you provide.

Well I’ve read 95 posts and caught up to my last post at 155; however, there are 197 posts now so I have 42 to go but they’ll have to wait until tomorrow. At least I’m only 23-1/2 hrs behind instead of 3-1/2 days.

Went in to work today but encountered a problem. One of the pieces of paper in the packet that needed to be scanned so it could be attached to the journal entry had a wet spot on it. When I attempted to scan the packet, the scanner tore off a silver dollar sized piece of that paper where the wet spot was which jammed the scanner and I was unable to scan anything after that. No one knew how to get it out so a repair person needed to be called. I left that up to Manager. It was a pleasant day and I had walked to work. On the walk back home, an elderly gent, def in his 80’s, was mowing his lawn. The house next door had a For Sale sign on the lawn so I made a throw away comment that he’d be getting a new neighbor. Then I made the fatal error: I asked if he knew why the neighbor was moving. He didn’t but it led him to tell me about all his children and grandchildren who have pretty much all moved away from the Mitten and are far flung over the US. I kept trying to come up with a way for a break in his story but after about 20-25 minutes, I mentioned needing to get to Kroger since it was 4 times gas points day. Oh brother, that sent him on another tangent. He is a very nice man who seems like he doesn’t really have anyone to talk to and here I was walking right by his house, tried to make just a little small talk but he took advantage of the opportunity.

Hubs was not anywhere near ready to go to Kroger when I finally got home so I had lunch and watched some tv then we finally got going. After Krogering and putting all the groceries away, we were RDOS for the rest of the day.

Hopefully I can catch all the way up on the mmp tomorrow. Sleep well friends

I should send Grandma Co-worker his way. Holy socks, but that woman does love talking 'bout grandbebehs, hers or anyone else’s.

I gave her a lift home tonight, and it was a whole lot of “Blah, blah, BLAH, he’s related to her sister, well, you don’t know her, but …”

“Mm-hmm.” “Oh, dang.” “Yeah, that’ll happen.”

And your neighbor was so kind as to give him a head start.

Didn’t have my slice o’cake at work, since the lovely cupcakes for the b-day were ALSO choc/vanilla swirl, and homemade beats store-bought any ol’ day.

Now I’m having a lil’ chicken pot pie (the Blake’s brand are good, and tiny - perfect for me!) and congratulating myself on gathering up quite a bit of clutter, organizing nearly empty Amazon boxes so their contents are stowed & the boxes can go bye-bye.

Mind you, I haven’t taken any of this stuff OUT yet (in my defense, it’s raining!) but at least some chaos has been straightened out.

Now that I said I got stuff cleaned out, uh, please ignore the background clutter. Let’s see if I can even get this to work, as it is a short video link:

Monkey incoming! Monkey incoming! - Album on Imgur

Yep, that’s adorable. It’s almost like he knows how adorable he is, king over all he surveys.
