(Old) Laundry Day in the MMP

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 20c/67f with no predicted change today, and cloudy. Weather app says “The clouds won’t fucking leave. Just like the fucking weirdos in your family.”

JtC I am sorry to hear about COC, it is truly the worst part of sharing our lives with pets.

Oopsie sounds like the jazz thing was a good night out! And always good to be home early enough to enjoy sofa time and cheesecake.

Sari I hope the estate stuff gets concluded soon and you can write that part of the family out of your life for good.

Taters sorry to hear you didn’t make it to Mt Rainier, I know what you mean about the crowds too - some of the places we visited recently would have been absolutely perfect if there were no folks around.

Nothing exciting in my day today, we were up late watching films last night so slept in a bit. Cats are fed and litter trays are clean. Shadow had a big, runny, smelly accident on the puppy pad by the downstairs litter tray so that’s been cleaned up and we’ll keep an eye on him. Hopefully he’s just eaten something that didn’t agree with him, but he’s scheduled for a vet visit on Monday anyway so that will be mentioned.

I have no plans for the day, I’ve had a bath, it’s not my turn to make dinner tonight, and I am telling myself there’s no point trying to use the rollsuck because it’s not working properly and the new part for it isn’t here yet. I’ll just live with the mess for a few more days.

Next thing to do is make more tea, forage for some lunch, and then have some quality sofa time.

Morning all. Laundry Day 2 is underway with all the towels in the house (and a few odds and ends) in the washer. Still have the jeans to do, we’ll see if that’s before or after lunch at Olive Garden. Outside of that nothing much on the agenda, have a sore throat that is being annoying, but otherwise feeling fine.

Sari, was just funning ya’, write whenever you can and as much as you like, I’ll be reading it all.

Oopsie, sounds like a perfect night; good music, good seats, and home early to rest–sounds like a recipe for being happy, alright.

JtC, sorry to hear about COC.

swampy, only getting to 91F today (heat index tops out at 103F) but after a rainy week looks like were in for a dry spell here in N. Ali-bama; only a 50% chance Moanday Night/2sday Morning, the rest of the week is parched.

OK, have reviewed the checking and credit card accounts and found them correct, so onward into the day. Take care all.

Yesterday I was talking with my SIL about the worst part of pet ownership and how the person has to think about it before taking a pet home.

I am sorry JtC about COC. Being a responsible adult sometimes sucks.

BooFaeHope that Shadow’s new problem is only food related.

Taters sorry that you didn’t make it to the North Cascades before the Sourdough Fire. Hope you get an opportunity soon, but it sounds like the fire will be going for a while.

Today we’re going home, so last night we did laundry. Washing went well, but the dryer didn’t. So we hung up our clothes on drying racks and set up a fan. As it’s very humid and we had a humdinger of a thunderstorm last night, I’m not sure how dry they will get. They seem to be dry enough so probably I should shower and get packing, but I have the donwannas. So I‘ll drink some more coffee and let the fan continue doing its thing.

Jane, that is so sad, and the last trip to the vet is the hardest. We are all thinking of you

Just checking in to let you know I’m alive. We’re at the school setting up FCD’s classroom. Busy busy busy.

Yes. This.

Balconated a bit pre-dawn dealing with the non-MMP part of the Dope (yes, there is one! ) and now mid-morning we’re about to leave for a silly cooking demo at the local Williams Sonoma. Her Ladyship liked to do their cooking classes pre-marriage and pre-COVID. They and their competitors are slowly wading back into in-person classes cum sales demos. This one is about air frying, and Her Ladyship already has one of those although I’ve never seen it out in the not quite 2 years we’ve co-habited. So we should get out of there without a new purchase. Fingers crossed.

OTOH, in the course of making last night’s Nightly Heave cocktails my ancient & cheap espresso machine died. Da Jungle has been summoned to bring us a new and somewhat nicer one tomorrow.

Other than that slothage and perhaps a haircut and perhaps a short groc run are in order. Between Fri & Sat Her Ladyship has created about 20 light meals worth of leftovers, so we’ll be living out of the fridge for a few days. Yum!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 67F and sunny. The expected high is 93F. Tomorrow it’ll be 97F, and this area has a multi-day heat advisory that runs through Thursday.

Today is laundry day. In addition to the normal laundry accumulation, I need to wash some slacks that I forgot to include in my dark delicates last weekend, but I will be sure to get them in today. Sheets and towels will be laundered.

Other than that, I’m not sure what is on the agenda—probably not much.

My daughter is sending many pics of their place in MO and says they are settling in nicely. The grandkids are thriving and probably loving all the space to run. I’m glad they’re all happy.

Die_Capacitrix, I’ve been to the North Cascades often, but not as much during these latter years. I did want to take the highway, though, and use a few days to explore roads and areas less traveled. It looks like the Sourdough Fire will take a long time to contain, and I’m wondering if this will be another fire that continues well into October. I hope not, but it’s only about five percent contained at this point, and I’m sure the upcoming heatwave will not help.

Jane, I’m so sorry about COC.

I woke up at 4:00 am this morning on the couch. I went back to bed for a few hours, long enough that my husband asked if I was feeling alright. I feel fine, I just wanted a bit of sleep.

Well, it’s time for a second cup of coffee. Then it’s time to get on with the day. I let my slothage rob me of four hours, so now I need to get a move on.

Biscuits and gravy in the dining room this morning. Actually interacted with hoomans. Didn’t need a cane or any other support, which is nice. My new leg pillow arrived yesterday, so was eager to try it out last night. Success! I can now sleep on my side without creating pain in the knee.

I love The Company Store! Especially when it’s on sale, there’s a sale going on now and my old flannels need replacing. Time to shop!

So Spot “helped” me changed the sheets, and was standing in the shower and screaming earlier(I’ve had jobs where that is an acceptable reaction to the end of vacation). Cleaning is proceeding.

If one can have breakfast for dinner, one can have lunch for breakfast.

As soon as I got up, I sliced onion and potatoes into a disposable pan (cuz fuck washing dishes) topped it with one big-ass chicken boobie, heavily buttered & salted the whole thing, and now it’s roasting. Hopefully will be done in time for me to eat & still get to work on time - those giant honkin’ breasts take forever to bake.

Monkey got some outside time & is comfortably chilling on the floor nearby the fan now. Typing this and looking adoringly over at his handsomeness, I just realized that of COURSE he slipped his 2nd collar, the little bastard.

{ adds 2-pack of reflective collars to Amazon cart }

Okay, got about an hour anna half to chill, eat, get dressed, etc. before doing it all again. All y’all take care, be heathens (or not) and I hope each of you has the best day possible. :heartbeat:

Okay, I tried, but I canNOT figure out what “C.D.” might stand for … lil’ help? Best my brain could cough up were some half-baked jokes about cassette tapes.

Given the topic, maybe Civil Defense?

I’m probably too young for the duck and cover thing in school, especially since I lived in a rather rural area well away from any military facilities.

I’m so sorry. Losing a pet is awful.

'Zactly. Here ya go:

Well, we got sheveled & ate lightly then went to the Williams Sonoma demo. Her Ladyship was mightily disappointed. They demoed an overgrown toaster oven they said was an air fryer ($500) by cooking barely-done very uncrisp chicken wings. While two other attendees who were senile lady new yorkers kibitzed at each other continually in that gawdawful screechy accent. At least they stopped occasionally to ask very stupid questions. But it did get us out of the house.

Now home we had some of Her Ladyship’s wonderful lasagna soup from Friday night for lunch. Which is about what it sounds like. Make a soup out of all the ingredients you’d use to make a lasagna. Just alter the liquid proportions so it’s runny enough it’s more like a tomato & sausage & veg red stew with big hunks of flat noodles floating in it. And lots of ricotta for that creamy mouthfeel. Yum!

I’m on-call Mon-Thu. And have doctor appointments dating from months ago on Mon & Thu first thing. My efforts to zig and zag to avoid working those days came to naught. I’ll be leaving pre-dawn Mon & returning just before dinner on Thu. Sigh.

All long flights with a good guy I know, two shortish nights adjacent to a non-descript airport and one nice afternoon / evening in Guatemala City where strong red wine and enormous Argentinian steaks can will be had.

My draft number was 333 and I was very unlikely to be drafted and sent to South East Asia. I had no intention of volunteering either.

Afternoon all. Headed out to go to the Olive Garden for Sunday dinner when the engine light for “Engine Running Hot” popped on, and I decided discretion was the better part of a cooked engine, so came on home. Now have a rental car laid on and will take this one to the shop Monday and leave it there for a couple of weeks until it is worked on. Not exactly what I planned, but better safe (and a bit poorer) than sorry (and a lot poorer). So the rest of the day will be spent inside (given that it is 95F out with a heat index of 116F, that seems to be the best choice). Did manage to get a NY Times Sunday Edition, so that will keep me amused for quite awhile.

DIcey, safe travels back across the pond.

Pilot, the Airline is getting it’s money’s worth out of you before you retire, aren’t they? Have some safe and enjoyable trips.

Cookie, glad things are continuing on the upswing.

Shoe, hope the meal is as good as it sounds.

OK, onward into the day. Take care all.

My big brother breathed a sigh of relief when he was assigned a stateside duty station when he was drafted in the army. I don’t think that he got any farther than Missouri or Texas.

Meal prep for the week is done, prescription picked up and supper et (twas yum!). Now I’m just chilling in the studio until the super early bedtime. See y’all tomorrow!

Home again. We got FCD’s classroom sorta organized, then went to the galley to do some electrical work. Tomorrow, he’ll finish that work while I make a spreadsheet of which circuit breakers affect which rooms/areas. Then I need to buy a baguette and some peaches to make a peach french toast casserole for him to take to the breakfast pot luck on Tues.

The school still looks like a disaster area - there are 2 or 3 parents who volunteer regularly, one former student, and us. Here’s hoping the other parents are waiting to volunteer for tasks later in the year.

Chillage on order now. I’m beat.

JtC - hugs to you an skritches to kitteh. :crying_cat_face: It’s the worst part of having pets…

Read all, retained little. I do lurves ya all, but I’m just flat worn out. MWAH!!!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, et leftovers, achieved nappage, and day drank. Not bad for a very hawt Sunday. No cee-mint pond time as we have been quite happy to be inside in the a/c this afternoon. Oh, and the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Thus it is in swampland.

Indeed. This is nearly record-setting (ab)use of dear old me.

In a happy development since my last post I’ve re-evaluated where we’re staying the first two nights. And hole-in-the-wall authentic Mexican is totally on for the first night. Still swirling a bit for the second night, but we’re deep enough into a city the possibilities are wide-ranging. Gastropub, sports bar, BBQ joint with unmatched chairs? We shall see.

There’s a party in every day if you look hard enough.

Swampy so you deheathenated, including being part of the service crew, and did the biiig trash? And both on a hot day? Your reputation for now’t but extreme slothage is suffering a bit.
