(Old) Looking ahead in the MMP

Short nap. I’m up, having a Sazarac and Asiasn BBq Chicken. Dessert is popcorn with shoe’s Sesame Ginger Crunch. Watching F1.

State beat Richmond 73-0 last night. It was 49-0 when they put in the benchwarmers.

Billionaires have a smaller yacht follow the big yacht around, to carry the booze and pool noodles. That’s what that one must be for.

Several decades ago, the local PBS station decided to stop showing Eastenders because of the cost. the fan community has raised enough to keep it going since then. But if you do the fundraising call center, and the pledge drive eats into the show, thye will call and give you an earfull.

I ate an entire loaf of French bread. Now I have a pain in my stomach.

< takes a bow >

LOL, take another.

Watching the first episode of In Living Color. It makes me feel old, that it was aired over 36 years ago.

ETA: I got a new T-shirt yesterday. I don’t have my phone, but IIRC it reads ‘Auspicious day. Neko [Japanese for cat] sushi’.

What a triumph!

Awww.

This made me blink, but then my Catholic training kicked in.

All of the “make cold” boxes at work were working fine today, so crisis (hopefully) averted.

Really, you tried it? I’m flattered that anyone takes my advice.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning, followed by afternoon pro handegg. It’s currently 73 degrees Ferret Height(22.778 Centipedes). It has rained.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and mostly sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by (for me) two group sessions. The first is at one p.m. and is a session on how to say the daily offices (Mornin’, Noon Time, and Evenin’ Prayer, plus Compline) and I get to pontificate on sayin’ Compline. Then there will be my usual three p.m. group. OYKW knows he is on his own to feed himself. However, I think we might go have a McLunch together after church as there is a Mickey D’s not too far away from the church house. After all that it will be back to da cave to be a RDOS sloth for the remainder of the day.

Cat_Glove I don’t know what would have happened if I had been in Chicago on 9/11. Most likely TBTB would have been fine with me findin’ a car rental and drivin’ home. I am sure I would have had a rental car for irk purposes and probably could have used that rental. That sounds like a fabulous dinner! Anglican prayer beads (that’s what they are called) use weeks instead of decades.

CupCakes I am sure everyone will appreciate the chawklit cream pie. I bet a lot of relatives have a fond memory of it.

JtC on the rare occasion I make sweet tea, I add the sugar to the boilin’ water. That way I know it dissolves thoroughly. We rarely drink it, however. Milo’s sweet tea is wondrous, so mostly we’ll buy that instead of makin’ it.

MetalMouse that was a busy day! You deserve to sloth today.

BrightTree glad you’re feelin’ better. A long sleep and a day of ease can work wonders! Sorry about your Ducks. That was a tough game. I can’t imagine my Dawgs gettin’ through the season undefeated.

Prime has The Bob Newhart Show and I’ve been rewatching it. Surprisingly, except for the decor and clothing, it’s really not dated. I wonder if someone is streaming Newhart… I lurves me some Larry, Daryl, and Daryl.

Both of my inlaws were getting morphine for several weeks as they were both dealing with a lot of pain. Some decades back, FCD was on morphine after a very bad service-related injury - he said it helped the pain, but he saw pink elephants dancing around the hospital room.

I did NOT sleep at all and I don’t know why. I haven’t caffeinated this morning, and as soon as FCD leaves for the marina with Otis, I’ll try to catch a few winks. I did hear a little rain overnight, but it wasn’t enough to make a driveway puddle. We might get a little more rain today. Or not. It’s a meteorological crap shoot.

AuntB called yesterday when FCD was napping so I got to talk to her. She seems to think we’ll need to be entertained while we’re there. I tried to disabuse her of that notion. Other than going to Purdue one day if weather permits, we have no plans.

I’d like to take something for them, maybe something peculiar to this area. A local delicacy is stuffed ham - maybe I’ll try to find some.

OK, gonna try to snooze. Happy Sunday!

Ugh. Up at 6:30am after 3 bathroom trips, my bladder after behaving very well the last few days has decided to go on a spree, just hope it’s just a morning thing. Anyway will shortly go out on my quest for the Sunday NY Times and then while away the morning hours before Longhorn provides the big meal of the day. Might mow the lawn if the temperature stays decent and it is dried out from yesterdays rain, but outside of that nothing much planned. Looks like we’ll reach 90F again for the umpteenth day, I really hope it does cool down sometime soon.

Talk about jinxing…bah, should have stuck with the You Tubes.

Bright Tree, having a long, relaxing day now and then is a good thing, IMHO, especially if you have been feeling a little peaked. And :exploding_head: on the Boots story!!

rocky, that’s quite a fishy tale.

swampy, happy grouping.

FCM, looks like Newhart isn’t being streamed right now. Happy nappage, even with the baldder alerts I got about 6-7 hours of shuteye.

And time to add clothes to this old body and venture forth to find a actual newspaper. Take care all and have a good Sunday.

My SIL once sent me to an orchard in Anderson to get her a bushel of Kind David apples. She said those are the tartest variety and would thus be best for making pies. It’s an unusual variety, but somehow she had heard they were grown in Anderson.

We watched about half of The Sheep Detectives on Amazon Prime last night.

Afternoon. Tis nice and sunny and the garden is unexpectedly full of butterflies, of multiple types.

Went out to the local car boot sale/market this morning as the weather looked good, after all the cider talk I went and bought myself another demijohn, as I only had one, after leaving my brewing kit at the other end of the UK. It was only £4. Also got my nieces -at least the bigger two- some black 'n sparkly witchy type dress-up dresses, because they were only a couple of quid each. I am planning on going down to visit once this stoopit thesis is in and I already posted the gifts I was going to bring, so it will be an appropriate time for such things.

On the apple purpose front, this website has a crazy, amount of info, I used it when trying to pick what trees I was gonna buy last year. There are more apple types out there than you probably think…

At midnight, Findus thought my folded clothes would look better on the floor. :pouting_cat: Then a bit after four, I heard Abbey scratching on Catmom’s new chair.

As I type, I’ve just had my first sip of coffee.

One of the mole traps has been sprung. I have two, and yesterday I ordered two more, and two 2-packs of replacement straps (those are the killing parts).

Good morning.

It’s 54F and raining. The forecast calls for varying intensities of wet stuff falling from the skies until the afternoon, then clouds for the remainder of the day, and a daytime high of 60F.

Bright Tree, I’m glad you’re feeling so much better. The poached egg and polenta sound delicious, as does the blackberry jam.

52, I’m sorry I missed the toe injury. I hope it’s feeling less sore today.

Oopsie, I know how difficult that anniversary can be. Sending hugs.

Swampy, I buy Milo’s sweet tea occasionally. It’s pretty dang good.

Mr. Taters felt much better yesterday. He still becomes full quite easily, but he ate more than he had in nearly a week and even had the energy for VR racing.

We were making plans to go to lunch on Monday, and after he suggested a couple of places, I suggested a new place. When I showed him some of the menu, he was 110% in. By yesterday evening, he had looked up the place online, scoured the menu, and wanted to go there today. I don’t think a weekend is a good idea because it’s only just opened, and when I went there last weekend, the line was out the door. But we’ll try. We’re going here: Tanaka

For the rest of the day, we need to stop and get some doggy ice cream on the way home, along with some Scrub Daddy scrubbers. I would like to stop at Costco, but I don’t think he’ll be willing to.

My daughter posted some pictures of a combined birthday party for my granddaughter and grandson. It looks like everyone had a good time. Zoe’s birthday was earlier this month, but Adam’s is coming up on the 28th, so I need to get cracking on sending some presents.

Right, time to get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.

Gurl, if you only knew….

Good morning! Yesterday was busy. I got up at about seven and took Chloé on a quick walk, ao she wouldn’t immediately maul Mrs Magill who had to work an away football game. I then headed out to Cookeville for Tennessee Tech’s Parent Weekend. Spike had warned me this year was a little event light, and it would be raining the entire time. He was not wrong. I took him to Wally-World to replace his watch, which had fallen apart, then took him to lunch. We returned to his dorm, where I WD-40’d the squeaky spots on his bed.

I then headed home. Mrs Magill and Squeaky were going to the Williamson County Marching Band Expo yesterday afternoon and night, and Chloé gets anxious when left alone. I finished up the laundry and hung out with my wee canine companion before hitting the sack at ten-thirty. Mrs Magill and Squeaky came home an hour later, which I slept through.

I wook up this morning to the sound of a puppy-dog who needed to come out of her crate and do some business. I got up, threw on some clothes and took her for a long walk to give Mrs Magill another hour of sleep.

After we got back and Mrs Magill’s face was thoroughly “cleaned”, I ran to the Publix to pick up mushrooms and pearl onions to make Coq au Vin tonight, which I’ll probably start in the next half hour.

My stomach right now:

My father used to say the pun is the lowest form of humor… unless you thought of it.

That’s always nice to see. Unfortunately, there is negligible ACC coverage here.

Well, you haven’t steered me wrong, yet.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 23c/74f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “The weather is, for once, not acting like a fucking clueless numptie.”

Sticky Buns yay for finding the paperwork and getting the discount!

Moooom There’s something not quite right about microwaving water to boil it. If the kettle breaks, we’d boil water in a pan on the stove before thinking about using the microwave. It’s just not the done thing  In reality, it’s the boiling point. The microwave doesn’t boil water like the kettle does. Consequently my cuppa doesn’t taste right.

JtC my very best wishes to your painter’s girlfriend, I hope they get the help they quite obviously need, and in a sane society, would be able to get straight away.

Taters I am so glad your daughter’s gift arrived safely, you both must have got so much joy from that moment.

52 I hope the toe is feeling better today, take care of yourself!

Cat Glove yay for Hubs being able to grill things!

Yesterday was a fun day out. We left home around 10am, got an Uber to town and picked up food for our journey. It wasn’t that long, but we wouldn’t get to Sheffield until lunchtime and we needed to drop our stuff at the hotel then hotfoot it to the festival venue. Due to a slight delay on the railway, we hopped in a cab from the station to the hotel (we’d usually walk, it’s only 15-20mins), dropped bags at the hotel and got an Uber to the warehouse venue.

Our plan had been to get there in time for the second band of the day, and we made it with 10 minutes to spare. The first band is one we’ve seen a couple of times and neither of us like them that much so we weren’t fussed about being early. We saw all the other bands, spent time inside and outside the venue, chatted to friends, had fun converstaions with random strangers and hugged lots of folks.

We were back at the hotel by midnight, along with some friends who were also staying here. We ordered pizza (channeling shoe) and shared a bottle of wine while we nattered. One of our friends was talking about bands and gigs, and said something to 'im indoors about whether we were going to see a particular band later this year. His answer was to point at me and say “she’s the captin, she steers this ship, I just swab the decks”

We eventually headed to bed, got up in time for showers and breakfast before leaving to get the train home again. We got back and tended to the immediate needs of cats, had a couple of cups of tea, and went out to put the much maligned weed membrane down in the half of the garden that’s been cleared of vegetation. Whether it survives or not, time will tell.

I’ve got a couple of emails to send, then I will be retirning to the sofa for some slothage while 'im indoors sorts out dinner. I’ve a list of things to do in the morning before we leave for Wales, but that’s for tomorrow me.

Oh, that’s where all the ones in the garden came from… feel free to belch some more.

Autumn is definitely on the way here; I just saw the first flock of migrating geese fly over. They apparently job share with the swallows, who are just leaving.

My church got my a paid account for dial a ride to take nme to and from but I didnt call in time. So I walked to a near church and after service they had grilled burgers.
I like enthusiastic worship and this church had hymns so I took my paper and did anagrams, which I love.
I found you can get anteater out of andrew tate.
Accomplishment! CobraLotion.:innocent:
Every Sunday night me and a bunch of other followers go on youtube to watch our favorite comedians video and he joins us and we talk and he remembers things about us and we are all long distance friends.

Y’all in a hurry?

Impressive!

Where do y’all find this apparently heavenly nectar? I’m having some FOMO right now.

This is not a word I’ve encountered before, but I hope I remember it!

Numptie is one of my favorite British insults, next to, “You absolute muppet!”

Coq au Vin is in the slow cooker. It should be ready after yoga.
